This Food-Filled Road Trip Celebrates West Virginia's Appalachian Culture | Bon Appétit

"A ubiquitous biscuit chain with a playful, locally ingrained menu (items like the Dottie, the Tootie, the Rocket, and the Politician—a bologna sandwich) that many West Virginians grow up on; an easy drive-through stop for a quintessential, nostalgic biscuit experience." - ByCrystal Good, as told to Jen Choi

Staff was lovely and helpful so I am giving it 3 stars. Unfortunately the food left plenty to be desired. Cold greasy biscuit sandwich. The American cheese slice wasn't even melted. Biscut was hard, not flaky and also not flavorful. Hash browns that were soaked in grease. I wish I could forget this food experience.

I love this chain! First time at this restaurant and it was great! We went through the drive thru. There was a small line and medium wait. I’m from Wisconsin and we don’t have these up here. I don’t know what you do to your iced caramel coffees, but it should be illegal!! 😁 I have traveled to and from VA twice and stopped at three different biscuit world restaurants in three different states and loved every single experience and food. I have recommended my friends and family stop at one when they travel down to visit! This restaurant had exceptional customer service!

Google
Love this place! This was my first time and I didn't have high expectations. I ordered a mickey and it completely exceeded my expectations. Delicious!! Best biscuit I've ever had!! The service was great too...they kept checking on us. Highly recommend this place!!

Google
Stopped in to pick up some biscuits while travels and ended up with 4 sandwiches and a bag of rounds. St inside to eat hot food rather than drive and eat. Friendly staff, fair prices, clean restaurant, and great food

For the price of this place, you get alot of food. The biscuits and the gravy was delicious and it was very very quick. Worth a quick stop.

Marie is the best! She floats around that dining room, clearing trays and filling coffee like a wonderful ray of sunshine. If she's ever having a bad day when I'm in there, I have not noticed. My husband and I come here at least once a Month or so. So we aren't regular regulars but Marie always remembers us and all the staff is always super sweet. It always feels like interacting with a bunch of aunts and grandmas, they are so sweet and funny, I love it. Plus, whoever is cooking back there makes great eggs! Any style. Food is fast as heck and very good. Never ate at any Tudors until we moved here three years ago. But we love the vibe, it's a good mix of fast food and a breakfast diner feel as they bring your food to your table and fill your coffee, clear your tray etc. I personally hope it doesn't change anytime soon and I hope they never lose Marie!

Google
We were passing through and had never ate at one of these. It was a lot of food for the money. Everything tasted great and especially the biscuit. The employees were great at explaining things and were around the dining room also and not just behind the counter taking the orders. Great place to eat!

Google
I ordered scrambled eggs and toast, when the lady brought my food out she had the basket of toast laying on top of my eggs so no I wouldn't eat them. I hate how people in food places do, its like they dont care and the health department do make food places do better. So all I had was toast and it wasn't very good and we were traveling through. The place was small and busy also so I wasn't able to go back to the counter to tell them I wanted to order different eggs. No I dont wanna go back there to eat.

Yelp
I'd like to think I've had my fair share of biscuits. I was born and raised in Georgia and grew up eating biscuits (and gravy). My family has driven past this Biscuit World countless times and I've always thought to myself one day we're going to try that place. To say that these are the best biscuits I've ever had is not an exaggeration. My husband knows now that it's a non-negotiable for us to stop here and grab a biscuit.

Yelp
Classic breakfast menu centered around biscuits and all that goes with them. Friendly and attentive service that oozes with Southern hospitality. Enjoy a fast bite or catch up on local news with others there for company.

Yelp
Food: breakfast platter was excellent especially biscuits (with gravy & with jelly) were amazing! Service: you order your food at the register like a fast food restaurant, but they will bring your food to your table. Friendly staff! I'd definitely visit again when I am in town! :)

Cindy A.

Yelp
The food was so good. I was amazed at what we got for the price. The biscuits were HUGE and delicious. Sausage gravy like my Mom made, fresh eggs cooked basically to order, crispy bacon and yummy cooked apples. Coffee was too weak for me but it was hot. Service was very fast and friendly. Basically a fast food atmosphere but with real silverware! I will be looking for this chain in my travels!

Yelp
I don't know what they put in their iced coffee but it is SO MF GOOD. The French vanilla iced coffee tastes like chocolate milk almost, its so sweet but not in a way that's overpowering. their breakfast food is also amazing from what ive tried (their breakfast wraps and bacon egg and cheese biscuit) the two times I went there while traveling in WV. Go here if you want the best iced coffee known to man and a good breakfast.

Yelp
The area doesn't offer many choices so you need to be open minded. We were a party of four passing through the area. We all were pleasantly surprised with the value and quality offered here. The service was excellent. They are very friendly this part of the state. The host that brought our order out to our table had worked there for 35 years, so that says something. She was super friendly and continued to ask us if we needed anything. The food was excellent. The biscuits were delicious. We would go again. Very good value for your money. Each dish was $6-7 dollar, which in today's world is pretty dang good.

Yelp
We decided to have breakfast here in Lewisburg, WV, one morning on our way home. The food and service were terrific. We live in Cincinnati and I wish there was a Tudor's Biscuit World here. We would be regulars!
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
We had to come by and try it. We had been seeing billboard ads all along I64 and finally succumbed. They served big fluffy biscuits and gravy was done well. The staff was very warm and friendly.

Yelp
First time ever at a Tudor's and if ever best one again would stop in for some good breakfast food! First off the biscuits are very good! I personally didn't like my biscuit sandwich bc I didn't realize I had ordered it with the liquid cheese, but I scrapped it off and ate the shaved ham and biscuit with some honey and butter. My husband had the steak, cheese and hash brown biscuit and enjoyed it. He didn't realize it was going to be country fried steak. I guess we need to read menus better! Apples were also delicious and glad we ordered them! The hash browns were good and the coffee could be a bit stronger but that is a personal preference. The real food standout was the blueberry muffin!!! This was almost as good as the biscuits! Service was extremely kind and they come around to make sure you had everything you needed. Plenty of seating inside and when we left the drive-thru line was long.
google avatar

Tyler E.

Yelp
By far the worst tudors in WV. Even if you're the second person in line at the drive thru... expect to wait a solid 10 minutes to order and another 15/20 minutes to get your food. Idk why I always try to give this place another chance.
google avatar

Tammi W.

Yelp
First time ever eating here so didn't know if it was a chain or not. Food was ready fast so not the freshest. Was ok for fast food I suppose. Customer service was odd, the cashier taking the orders at the front of the store was on her cell phone making an appointment to get an oil change while customers just stood there waiting. Maybe that's acceptable in small town, I found it to be odd and somewhat disrespectful.

Barry W.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped to get a biscuit on our way to Huntington WV. Best biscuit we've ever had. The service and employee's were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly stop there again!!!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped into tudors biscuit world on the way back from snowshoe mountain. We found tudors biscuit world right off our route and decided to stop in. They have plenty off parking and it was t to crowded for a Sunday morning. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese biscuit along with French toast sticks and it was delicious. The biscuits alone were so yummy and the French toast was a nice sweet add that I shared with my friends. One of the guys even ordered an extra sausage biscuit and flapjack sandwich for the road!! One thing to note was the coffee was not that strong, so I would probably stick to water/Diet Coke next time. Stop in if you need some good eats!!!
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
You like biscuits? Eat here! Good coffee, legit hash rounds. And don't miss the Apple biscuit!
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
I've been meaning to check this place out. The service is excellent and the food is very nostalgic. The ambiance is peaceful and comfortable. A good place to come for a quiet meal. They even have merch at the restaurant!
google avatar

Yelp
We were driving through the area when we saw this place tutors biscuit world. It seemed intriguing so we stopped by. It was an adorable breakfast spot with a very energetic and fast paced counter person who also took the dishes away and brought coffee for patrons. Highly recommend this place; think of a diner with very fast service and delicious food. I recommend the sausage gravy with biscuit, but the two biscuit was massive and to much food - I'd go for the single biscuit and gravy next time. You order at the counter and they bring you your food if you eat in and they will also bust your table after you leave, we will stop by again!
google avatar

Sally H.

Yelp
While on vacation, we've driven past these signs many times and always said we would stop. We finally stopped. We enjoyed the food and the service was friendly and fast. My husband loved the blackberry biscuit. I had a breakfast biscuit sandwich that was really good. Kids opted for grilled cheese and liked those as well. We will stop in again when we are passing the through.

Richard D.

Yelp
Really nice place for breakfast. The biscuits are fluffy and flaky. The bologna pisquit was to die for.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Quick bite to eat! Had the breakfast burrito with hash rounds. So good and not too salty. The service was excellent and you can't beat the prices of the meals. Bathrooms clean. Would definitely stop here again!

Yelp
Oh, I looooove this place so much. I seriously think this is the best regional fast food chain if there ever was one. Such amazing buttery, flakey, delicious, fresh, warm biscuits. Friendly service. Amazing selection. I just love this place. I dream of these biscuits all the time.

Jen L.

Yelp
We walked in on 7/19/24, and the place was... shabby but that's not necessarily a sign of bad food or service. As we were waiting for the many employees to decide who was taking the order of the couple in front of us at the counter, another came out with trays of food for a party already seated and was coughing profusely. She then proceeded to complain by loudly exclaiming OH GREAT at customers coming into the place. Still coughing she dropped the food off at her tables (the place was not busy inside as there were only three tables of customers). Between the hacking on customers and the food and the attitude, we left without ordering.

Michelle H.

Yelp
This place was a great find! First, food was excellent. All of it. Scrambled eggs were real eggs and not greasy. Biscuit- amazing size and flavor. Baked apples were perfect- not too sweet or syrupy. Overall southern food left us full and feeling healthy not heavy. Customer service was excellent as well. Ladies were gracious and kept our coffee full and gave a feeling of mom taking care of you at home. Traveling through but biscuits so good we ordered a bag full to take home and share with friends! Prices were very reasonable. The diner was clean, cozy.

Yelp
Absolutely loved Tudor's Biscuit World! Was more than surprised that it was so delicious, given that it was pretty much the only thing we could find in middle WV, we weren't expecting much. The service was fantastic and the people were so kind, plus the biscuits were fresh and fluffy and the sandwich was great! The hash browns tasted very similar to another fast food breakfast, but the French toast sticks were a pleasant surprise for someone who doesn't always love French toast. If I ever stumble across one of these again, I'll definitely stop by!
google avatar

Lee L.

Yelp
This is such a great little restaurant!! I ordered the Mickey Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich and I was not disappointed!! I wasn't expecting such a delicious, moist, fresh biscuit! The ratio of biscuit to egg to ham was perfect. The friendly staff made everything even better!!! They didn't mind at all us asking about ingredients bc our daughter has a dairy allergy. This place is a must visit!!
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for something to grab to put into my stomach before getting on a three hour drive. I've never stopped into a Tudor's before but I know I like biscuits so I was ready to give them a try. I was excited to see at least 15 cars in the line at the drive through, definitely a good sign. I chose to walk in for a sit down breakfast. First impression was the crew was attentive and loved the great selection. I decided to order a couple of combos not knowing how big they would be. I'll say that I was impressed. Soft warm buttery biscuits filled with a good amount of goodies to fill the tank on anyone looking for a good start to the day. I'll return!

Yelp
When in West Virginia... you've got to stop at Tudor's Biscuit World. The biscuits are fresh, buttery and large. We ordered the Politician, a large biscuit with a massive slab of grilled bologna, egg and cheese. This thing is a beast, don't even think about ordering two. We also tried the Blackberry Biscuit, a split biscuit with blackberry compote smothering both halves, plus a drizzle of icing and some granola sprinkled on top. It was delicious and a meal in itself. They also have an Apple version which was equally delicious. Well worth a stop, and they are located everywhere.
google avatar

Laurie S.

Yelp
OMG! New Jersey needs a Biscuit World!!! These biscuits are amazing. We stopped in for a late lunch after driving from Lexington Virginia to Lewisburg. We had the Blackberry biscuit for dessert...It was definitely worth the drive just for that alone! Please come north to Jersey.

Jack R.

Yelp
Great old fashioned food.the sausage and gravy biscuits are to die for, as is the chicken pot pie diiner.Everything we have ordered has been good.
google avatar

Jennie R.

Yelp
We have always wanted to stop but never made time until driving from Virginia to Ohio we made it happen. I had the Mary B, bacon egg and cheese . The bisquit was so nice. Firm enough to hold the sandwich to eat it but buttery soft when biting. We shared the blackberry bisquit for dessert and my boyfriend wanted to likecthe plate.
google avatar

Chelsi U.

Yelp
This was a nice place to eat while on the road. They offer really good, home cooked food. Everyone was really nice too. I ordered the cabbage roll which was the special. It reminded me of being at home, exactly where I was headed! The Mac and cheese was a bit bland. I also had the beans, which were pretty good. The biscuit was amazing...I mean if you're gonna have chain restaurant named "biscuit world," the biscuits should be pretty dang good. My sister and niece had the chicken fried chicken. It came out very hot! The patty reminded me of a school lunch chicken patty, but it was good so why complain? Solid 4 stars. We left very satisfied with the choice.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
We were passing through and noticed a few of these restaurants. We decided to stop and try them out since it's a place we have not seen. My husband raves about his burrito. The biscuit was a little dry. 4/5 stars because of the worker on her "smoke" break coming up to the drive thru window to grab a dog treat. I have a thing about smoking around work, and food. The pricing was decent. Drive thru did take a little to get through.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
I eat at Tudor's a lot so I was surprised when we stopped at this one that they were so bad. A big plus, its larger than most Tudor's in the dining room area. We ordered a Small Tator with Gravy and milk for my hubby, and the Country Breakfast with bacon, toast, scrambled eggs and Jelly with soda pop. My food was so bland and the biscuits on his plate was hard..if you threw it at someone it could have probably knocked them out. If in the area, I would not eat here again.
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Tudor's Biscuit World is one of the best restaurants to ever grace the earth. I am surprised that there are not any more locations than there is now. Me and my family grab a biscuit from this particular location in Lewisburg every Sunday before church. The staff team is wonderful, and they make some of the best biscuits around. I almost always order a Peppi, a biscuit with pepperoni and cheese. It is one of the smaller biscuits they have, but it is probably the best.
google avatar

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Great big biscuits made to order. What else can I say? This particular location also had exceptional service. One nice lady kept making the rounds, asking everyone if they needed anything else or if she could top off their coffee. If traveling through the area, pass by other fast food joints and stop in this local chain. You will be glad you did.

Monica L.

Yelp
The biscuits and choice of toppings are delicious, I get country jam, egg, and cheese! Yum delicious every time!

Yelp
First breakfast stop on the way down from snowshoe. Don't let the fact it's fast food deter you, good breakfast and some lunch items available for breakfast as well.
google avatar

Joey D.

Yelp
Consistently good food every time I visit WV!
google avatar

lance R.

Yelp
Staff behind the counter is very un please. The lady taking our order was very short with is and rude. She actually threw cups on the ground when she couldn't find what she wanted. After we get our food I was greatly disappointed to find my food was cold and the quality of the food just wasn't great. I really wish I had a better experience here
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
We stopped here while passing through on vacation. The staff was extremely polite and the food was better than I thought it would be. They have quite the range of options and the sweet tea was excellent!
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
Stopped by here after a day of hiking in Pocahontas county. At first this place was only chosen because it was the last restaurant before we got back on the interstate. But what a pleasant surprise when the food was delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly. We would definitely stop by again.
google avatar

Betsy R.

Yelp
We loved Tudor's biscuits! Are here 2 times in vacation and wish there was one closer to home. The biscuits with the hash browns added were especially yummy
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
Country cookin' in a fast food format. The food is excellent in every Tudor's I've ever visited. The staffs are well-trained and friendly. This is not the kind of restaurant you love, but it is one that pleases you and gives you comfort.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
The mountaineer is my jam! It's so delicious- the biscuit is light and fluffy, the ham adds just the right amount of flavor without being too overpowering. The service is fast and polite. Definitely recommend stopping by here.
google avatar

D G.

Yelp
Tudor's is what it is: fast food meets comfort food, and they exchange calories. To be up front, I really only get hash browns and coffee here, but the staff is still over the top friendly and pleasant, and insist I go have a seat, and they'll bring it out. The hash browns are greasy and salty, and I dip them in hot sauce. It's a guilty pleasure snack. It's north of the interstate in Lewisburg, and not really near much, but an easy stop in, and to and from the airport. Well worth going for a quick snack.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Love Tudor's . They have the most delicious breakfast items. My favorite is the Mary B, it's crispy bacon, egg and cheese on a nice sized biscuit. I have tried many other items I enjoy such as the pastries, hamburgers and fries at lunch, and a variety of the biscuits. I will say for me personally I like to pick up or drive through and not dine in. It's never been a good dine experience the few times we have tried. The food keeps me going back though. Those biscuits and the other breakfast favorites like pancakes or assorted platters are worth a try. I will always make this a stop when in the area.

William T.

Yelp
We were traveling through West Virginia on our way to North Carolina and we stopped here for breakfast. It was amazing! I recommend the Bologna sandwich and the black berry cobbler!

Savannah L.

Yelp
Very disgusting food they don't know how to clean at all like half the plates they send out are dirty that's just nasty
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
Wow! How cool is this place? Yes, it is a chain restaurant, but we don't have them around where we live. The service was unbelievably friendly for a fast food restaurant. They were helpful when we ordered. They picked up our dirty dishes after we ate. They were more than happy to refill our teas that were behind the counter. The biscuits are HUGE! Much bigger than we expected. I barely made it through two, and my husband didn't finish his two biscuits. They were also pretty awesome. I had two Rons. Both had sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits. They had ample toppings. We would go back here in a heartbeat. We have been chatting with some friends about how cool it would be to open a franchise near us. You never know!
