Came here with my husband during a visit to seaport village. Could tell they were relatively new and with no reviews, and less lines than everyone else, we chose to take a chance.
The staff were very nice and answered all of our questions as well as helped make recommendations. I am hearing impaired and they were patient with me as I kept asking them to repeat themselves (hearing aids are not perfect unfortunately). The food seemed to take a little bit longer than everyone else, however, that could be because they may be new so I really don't hold that against them and is not included in my scoring.
I ended up going with the plate with soy noodles, beef bulgolgi, gochujang sauce, and potato salad.
Drinks are not soft serve and must be purchased in the bottles. They did not offer free cups of water so we had to purchase a bottle of water.
The noodles were well cooked & the veggies had a nice crunch to them. Food was served warm, not hot.
The bulgolgi beef had a nice flavor but was not thinly sliced like you would see at most authentic Korean BBQ restaurants. I've always loved the texture of the thin sliced bulgolgi beef so I was missing that on this meal. With that said, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't come across any rubbery pieces of fat that are hard to eat so I was still good with the texture. The potato salad was a little bland and could have used a bit more salt (or any other seasoning) in it.
Most of the sauces being offered seemed to be on the sweeter side so we both went with the gojuchang sauce hoping to get a more savory & spicy sauce and not as much sweetness. Unfortunately, that sauce was more sweet with the tiniest kick of somewhat spicy flavor. We're not huge into sweeter tasting entrees so the fact the most of our food was sweet left us craving something savory and salty afterwards.
My husband had the bowl with the soy noodles, bbq pork, and gochujang sauce. The pork was a nice texture, similar to pork belly. Unfortunately, the bowl overall was also too sweet for his taste as well.
The pork bao buns were good. Bun was nice and soft, not rubbery at all. The carrots & cabbage filling had a wonderful crunch. This was probably my favorite part of the meal. Yes, still on the sweet side, but was already expecting that to be somewhat sweet.
I would probably try this place again and maybe just try a new sauce on the side. I liked the overall texture of the food and that it was different than the other things offered at Seaport Village.
