Tuk Tuk Street Food has become a casual lunch go-to for me when I'm craving Thai comfort food but still want protein options that don't feel like an afterthought. They let you pick your protein for most dishes -- chicken, tofu, crispy pork, crab, shrimp -- and I've cycled through a few, but tofu is the one I keep coming back to. Crispy pork is my guilty pleasure when I know I'm eating right away (because soggy pork skin? Emotional damage.). Most dishes you can choose how spicy you want it too!
I've tried the pad see ew, fried rice, and yellow curry so far, and here's the breakdown:
Yellow Curry - My personal fave. It's like a cozy blanket and a dance floor had a baby. Warm, rich, and perfect with tofu. I like mine with a little extra spice -- just enough to make your lips tingle but still let you taste everything.
Fried Rice - It's kind of like a mood ring. Some days it hits the salty note just right, other days it leans a little heavy. But overall, solid and satisfying. Add crispy pork for a good time.
Pad See Ew - A classic. Pretty standard execution, which isn't a bad thing when you want something familiar and filling. The noodles are chewy, the portion's fair, and the tofu soaks up sauce like a pro.
Price-wise: I'll admit it feels a bit spendy for what you get (especially if you just get a side of tofu). But the convenience, customization, and consistency keep me coming back. Especially during lunch or after a bad day of work and I need a pick me up.
I will 100% be back to try other dishes. Maybe the Tom Yum fried rice next? I've never had it, so it sounds super intriguing to me.
