The 25 Best Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico | Eater

"Chef Sebastián Renner and co-owner Josué Martínez of Makai opened Tukari as the kind of place that offers a respite from the masses of partying tourists. The oasis surrounded by palm trees and lush tropical flowers is built around an open-fire grill where thick cuts of swordfish, steaks, and pork chops are perfectly cooked. The food centers around locally sourced fish, meats, and vegetables, highlighting the region’s coastal and mountainous bounty. Grilled panela cheese from El Tuito with kalamata tapenade and fennel chimichurri is a good way to start your feast here, while the local swordfish chuletón becomes the main act the moment it hits the table, arriving surrounded by slow-grilled tacos olvidados filled with beans." - Paola Briseño-González

How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Sayulita, Mexico

"Elegant and chic, Tukari brings the sustainable and organic concept to the streets of Sayulita. The tranquil space is tucked away with white walls. Diners pass through a bamboo gate to the beachy dining room, where the menu swings heavily Mediterranean. "Come here for Mexi-Mediterranean [food] set in a lovely garden. Chef Sebastián is creative and innovative, emphasizing local ingredients," said Rabinor." - Travel + Leisure Editors

⭐ Such a great night at Tukari Bar! ⭐ Alex was amazing — super friendly, on top of everything, helping out the kitchen and the bar while keeping our table happy the whole time. We were celebrating my friend’s birthday and the team went above and beyond, even surprising us with a little cake. The food was so good (big shoutout to the chefs!) and the drinks were awesome — totally recommend the Habanero Margarita. Everything was just perfect. Thanks for making it such a fun night!

Wow. We six all had amazing food and wonderful service. I had a whole snapper fish, layered in garlic and grilled. I have seldom had anything so delicious and beautifully prepared.

We loved Tukari, food and service top notch! The fish of the day on top of the potato puree was a winner as were both of the salads we ordered: the jicama salad with yogurt and the green salad with avocado, pistachio and apple cider. And we started off with scrumptious fish croquettes!

We showed up with a group of about 20 and they were extremely nice and accommodating for our large group. The food was great, the drinks were very good (especially the Paloma). Everything was very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this spot!

Saw the place on Eater. We had croquettas and pork chop. Croquettas were crispy and hot. Creamy smoked fish inside - excellent. Pork chop was also good. I didn't love the sauce on top (tart, fruity), but the meat was cooked well, and the accompanying puree with rosemary was nice. Ambience is chill and vibey. I would like to come back and try the fish, steak, or squid. It's cash only. Make a reservation.

Our photos don't do this place justice - really excellent composition of flavours and presentation. Everything was delicious including the phenomenal desserts. In a town with already pretty good food options, run don't wall to Tukari.

A hidden gem off the a couple blocks south of the main square. Wish we had come on our last trip but glad we finally discovered it. Coming back for dinner Thursday when they have live jazz music!

AMAZING meal. Easily the best one we had during our stay. Super fresh and clean ingredients and they are changing the menu frequently so don't reference the one on google. The staff is exceptional and so attentive. Do NOT miss out on at least having one meal here!! Also a great switch up from the taco + fried food scene. We loved every bite and felt really good after too!!
