"Tulum’s decor is all about the upscale tourist on the Yucatán Peninsula, but the food takes that region and runs with it. It aims for luxurious and lavish, from the cocktail menu to the standout carne asada with 72-hour sous vide preparation and topped with mole chichilo." - Courtney E. Smith

"This elegant modern Mexican restaurant gives warm and welcoming coastal vibes. Experience the avocado ixchel beautifully plated with roasted ginger, endive leaves, and pumpkin seeds in this upscale take on guacamole. The lamb chops fall off the bone and into a decadent mole sauce. But for a walk on the wild side, dive into the octopus atop a black bean purée." - Charity Chukwu

"Tulum, an upscale new eatery from restaurateur Mike Karns, will officially open its doors this week. The menu will be rustic and elegant with natural offerings that inspire a new way of dining, Karns said in a statement. Instead of cheesy enchiladas and queso, this entirely separate project will serve fare centered around the restaurant’s wood-burning oven, a prominent fixture in the cuisine of Tulum. A full menu has still not been made public, but diners can look forward to dishes like scallops served with smoked potato puree and baby back ribs sauced in roasted pineapple salsa negra and sesame seeds. Chef Nico Sanchez, who oversees the menus at Karns’ other establishments, will lead the kitchen at Tulum." - Amy McCarthy

I have wanted to try this restaurant for so long, ever since I heard about it… and today was the day. Tulum offered a brunch menu until 6pm, so we had to try it for a Sunday afternoon. Once we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty, we could choose our seating. We had a great waiter that was able to wait on everyone one, in all dining rooms. My expectation of the food was to be amazing, however it was an expensive average meal. The eclectic view of the restaurant was more satisfying than the food. It truly was disappointing, and not worth the dime.

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Emily was our server, and she was very attentive and provided great recommendations. I was particularly fond of the molotes…so delicious. The flounder was fantastic. My favorite was the brown sugar sponge cake with hot chocolate…amazing! Will come back.

We’ve made a long drive to dine at Tulum on many occasions over the last year or so. The food is innovative, the atmosphere fun, a real hidden gem. Among us, we’ve tried a majority of items on the menu. But the standout was an unusual offering, mushroom enchiladas. Absolutely divine, a vegetarian offering that easily competed with all the carnivore options available. They were my first choice the last two times we had been to the restaurant. Because of that, I selected Tulum as the location for a small group last night, one of the group I know to be a vegetarian. I was excited to bring her to a restaurant where I knew she would be able to make a selection that wasn’t an “also ran“ with the rest of the items on the menu. You can imagine my disappointment when I opened the menu to see that they were no longer offered. I asked my server about it, and he stated that “corporate came in and decided to remove some of the items that weren’t selling”. He said they could still do a vegetarian dish, for instance, they could “take the shrimp relleno and just remove the shrimp and substitute some vegetables”. Yawn. I understand that in a restaurant like Tulum, a vegetarian dish is not likely to compete in numbers with all of the other items on the list. However, I cannot imagine that there would be a large overhead in having that one item available, regardless of how few plates are ordered every night. I’ll probably go back, but the trip will be a little less special for me than it has been in the past.

I wanted to visit based on another’s rave reviews and I’m glad I finally did. This bohemian inspired theme and decor is so relaxing and beautiful. I was also glad that I went on a Sunday evening because there wasn’t a huge crowd and the place wasn’t packed. The staff is so warm and welcoming, the food was really good, and I’ll definitely be back to try the brunch. I love presentation and they definitely serve that up with each plate. Just add a couple of cocktails and you’re good to go!

The scallops were perfect aside from the hard pickled beet on the plate. The lamb chops were undercooked but still tasted great, i asked for medium rare but it came out blue, the gnocchi were absolutely amazing. The mushroom tacos were good but i wouldn't order it again. The octopus was delicious but $13 for a tiny tentacle is absurd, only order this if you have money to burn. The cocktails were all very good, better than 90% of other restaurants. The tartare was amazing, do not miss it! The servers are extremely well informed and intelligent. All in all we had a great night until we saw the bill which was $215. ouch. I usually spend nearly half that amount. We had quite a few of those expensive cocktails so that is the main reason.

Incredible!!! Loved this place great service and management. I recommend this to everyone around the Dallas area. Food was amazing the taste was perfect on all courses. Incredible drink menu not too pricey just right. I definitely will be coming back and ask for Toni she was amazing with our experience here at Tulum.

This first visit won't be my last. A dear friend suggested this restaurant as a place I should try, so of course I'm all in. We decided to sit at the bar this time around so we ordered from the happy hour menu. I ordered a glass of Malbec and we both had the Paloma, which is quite tasty. It's a pretty drink and it's good! For eats we enjoyed the pescado and suadero tacos. The flavors for both were amazing and filling. These happy hour eats are truly petite meals. Visually the restaurant is beautiful. All photographers would love to rent this spot out. Even folks who aren't photogs would grab a camera. Mix that with great people like Josh (Josué) and you've got a darn good time.

Overall Rating: 11/10 - I’ve been wanting to try Tulum Dallas for so long and I’m so happy I got to come to their Sunday brunch. I would definitely go here for a girls night out next time because the vibes here are versatile for day and night which I love! - The food was outstanding, everyone loved their food and I loved how the chefs came out to check on us and serve the food. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles I had because it featured an ancho Chile maple syrup that was so decadent. Fried chicken was sooo flavorful too! - Drinks were perfect and the overall vibe and staff were so extremely nice! I loved the curtain detail in the front (when you go you know what I’m talking about). The hostess addressed me by my first name since I had a reservation so highly recommend making a reservation he was so enthusiastic and nice! - Highly highly recommend coming here! Bathrooms were so cute and clean too! 🤩 FOOD INSTA: @northtx.gemz

Yelp
The decor was very cute, but the food was nowhere near as nice as the ambiance. I definitely walked in excited and loved the decor and open kitchen layout. The drinks were alright, but nothing particularly impressive. I got the margarita and paloma de tulum. For food, we got the grilled octopus. This is usually one of my favorite foods, but here, it was way too chewy. I also got the cocoa braised short rib, which was reminiscent of a mole, but honestly not as good as traditional mole. This is a little silly, but the knives just were not sharp enough to cut any of the meat! We tried 3 different knives, but it really detracted from the experience, and I'm not sure how the steak knives aren't able to, well, cut steak. We were probably just unlucky, but our table was incredibly wobbly! I can't blame the servers, as they really did their best to help out. We even moved tables, but this second one was, alas, also wobbly. Typically I wouldn't even mention this, but it made it difficult to eat and our drinks kept spilling. All in all, I wouldn't really recommend Tulum -- maybe just go to Mexico instead.

Yelp
We live around the area so it's a great location for something super casual and delicious! We came on a weekday and it was super empty so no reservations are needed but make reservations on the weekend. However, our interaction with our waiter was beyond bizarre. He was sort of nice but made interesting comments? He came by to ask us if we needed anything and we said another round of drinks but then said our drinks were glass full before in some strange demeanor and the bar is closed...okay so why did you ask? We even told him we didn't understand what he was saying in his cryptic message. Anyways, the food and drinks were good! Just maybe you might have better luck with a more professional wait staff.

Yelp
Really cute spot in Highland Park Village. Joe is awesome at the bar during HH. The Cozumel Enchiladas are TDF, especially the SAUCE! They make everything to order...so, you might wait a schosh for you food. It is well worth it!

Candace M.

Yelp
Happy hour is where it is at here. The place is on the smaller end but the ambiance is nice and I love all the seating around the large bar. I had a French 75 and 2 orders of campeche because the first order was so good I had to order another. I'll try a few more things next time and provide an updated review.

Yelp
We went to Tulum Dallas back in February for a double date and enjoyed our experience! We made a reservation in advance and I loved the vibe and decor when you step inside...very much Dallas version of Tulum for sure! The service was slightly slow, but not our waitress's fault...I think they were backed up/short staffed? I cannot remember since it was so long ago, but it wouldn't deter me from going back. The true reason you should go there is for the food! I believe they have a rotating menu because I couldn't find anything we ordered on the current online menu, but I could be wrong! Either way, our appetizers, dinners and drinks were all plated/served beautifully, wonderfully curated and a blast of flavors. I can definitely see myself going back in the future and taking some better photos while there!

Alisha S.

Yelp
The vibes and decor of this restaurant are nice, but food was okay. I got the mushroom enchiladas and they just didn't really hit the spot like I was hoping. I also got the jungle juice mocktail to try which was also mid in my opinion.

Mohsin S.

Yelp
Nice place. Well decorated. Tropical look. Service was good. An appetizer tamale with brisket on. Jalapeño sauce was brought out. This was really good. My Chile Relleno looked wonderful as it was served. Sadly, the poblano was under roasted and a bit chewy. The shrimp stuffing was ok, however the shrimp seemed to be cut up on small bits. The sauce was tangy and well flavored. Would try again and get something else next time.

Yelp
Cute, modern ambiance - lively but still relaxed enough to chat over dinner. A couple of cute spots for photos and I saw they have a DJ, probably weekend nights. Our server was polite and attentive, giving menu suggestions. I ended up with the cocoa braised short rib which reminded me of a mole, it was good but nothing that I was super impressed with. The Paloma cocktail and flan for dessert were the highlight of my meal. Overall, I'd like to visit again to give it another try!

Yelp
Great spot for either happy hour, girls night out, or a nice romantic dinner. The dim lighting set for a nice vibe, and the music was chill but remained upbeat. Bar area had plenty of seating. The food and drinks were delicious. Tried octopus for the first time and I was not disappointed. Enchilada dish was flavorful with a creamy sauce and the right amount of spicy heat. The wait staff was attentive and very knowledgeable. If you're a mezcal fan, ask for the BBM. It's a house special that may not be on the menu yet. You'll thoroughly enjoy it and can thank me later.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner with a friend and it's a nice spot with amazing aesthetics. Parking can be tricky as there are other businesses there but I was able to find a spot. The customer service was consistent throughout the evening. My guest and I were seated in their lounge area and again it was nicely decorated! I ordered guacamole (avocado ixchel) and it's definitely not your typical dish you would get a regular Mexican restaurant so be mindful of that if you order it. I also ordered chips and salsa (sikil pak) as it is not included with the meal. The chips were freshly made and salsa tasty. For my meal, I ordered the grilled pork chop (yucatán pork "poc chuc") and it was ok. The pork was a tad bit dry but adding the salsa for dipping made up for it. One thing I did enjoy were the black beans and coconut rice! For drinks, I ordered the Flower in the Desert and Wanna Be Tulum. Both were delicious and nicely mixed. Overall, I had a good experience here and would good back to try out their happy hour

Yelp
We did a ladies in pink sex in the city brunch last sunday and it was just THE BEST! Parking- strip mall, go early to park inside the little cove of parking. I nabbed a spot right out front on a sunday at 12 noon which is the OPTIMAL brunch time. Ambience: Mexicos hidden gem/ TULUM. It was a mosh bosh of things but we sat in the banana leaf corner PERFECT for photos. Tons of little nooks just ready to be posted somewhere. Food: We all enjoyed our food ( shrimp tacos, salmon and the french toast) i ordered the french toast and it came out as a MASSIVE thick piece of bread. The crust was firm, middle part was soft and sometimes gooey! A massive amount of whip cream and nothing left on my plate afterward! The manager ( young, hip, latin guy) VERYYYY sweet, you would have thought we were Destiny's child up in there eating. He literally checked on us every 5 mins like clock work. Our waiter ( arturo, arthur please forgive me) but he was THE BEST as well. We chatted with both gentlemen one and off all morning and they added to the experience! The drinks were stellar ( even my grapefruit mocked tail) Super cute place for brunch! They have a live band either Thursday or Friday nights.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend's mom for happy hour and we had a great time! We sat up at the bar and had a few drinks and split some ceviche. Everything was so good and the decor in the restaurant was very cool. Service was also great. Would definitely come back!

Christina M.

Yelp
Great experience for my birthday! Place was empty so I hope they get more service but staff were awesome and made me feel so special! 10/10 recommend!

Caron W.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely terrific! We sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience. Not only was the food great, but the service from the bar tender was spectacular and the food came out super quick despite the restaurant being packed. Many spots for photo ops too! I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Two words: HAPPY HOUR!!! I've been to Tulum for Happy Hour twice now and both times were excellent! The Happy Hour at Tulum is one of the best in town. There are lots of menu options that are excellent in portion size, taste, and price. I've had the Cozumel Enchiladas and the Suadero Tacos (brisket tacos). Both dishes are superb! They're both very filling as both come with rice. There are also many options of drinks on the Happy Hour menu including margaritas, old fashions, and manhattans. The first time I came was late during Happy Hour (which ends at 6pm) and the restaurant was busy. The last time was last Monday not long after Happy Hour started at 4pm and the restaurant was empty. The service was much faster the second time in comparison to the first time. I sat at the bar both times. Both times, the staff was very friendly. The atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant is beautiful as well. You're definitely transported somewhere else as soon as you walk into the restaurant. I highly recommend Tulum!

Mike J.

Yelp
Old Fashion! Tulum Uptown Dallas for happy hour. Drinks are Really good and the food is as well. I would advise... Check it out!!

Diona W.

Yelp
This place is super cute. You walk in through a curtain with the gentleman at the door who walks you to the hostess. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter came over a minute after we sat down and went over the menu. Once we decided on a drink and app which came out right away our waiter gave us time to decide on our entree. I had the veggie enchiladas which were amazing but filling so I took them to-go. I am so glad I picked this place while in Dallas the service was top notice and so was the food. Only issue was after we had our entrees a large party sat down and they were not the best customers as they stood near other tables and expected the waiter to only wait in them. My friends and I could tell our waiter was annoyed but he did not show it to the other party which put us to the back burner when we were ready to leave. Two of the managers made sure we had what we needed in the end. I would go back and he next time I'm in Dallas.

Alex B.

Yelp
This was okay for me! Cute decor, but didn't like either of the drinks ordered and not very vegan friendly! Would go again if friends wanted to, but probably wouldn't suggest. Staff was very kind though!!

Yas T.

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed at this place. The food and service was very inconsistent. We ordered 4 martinis and each was missing an element! The food was decent, some options like the beef tartar was great, but others like the caesar salad tasted so weird. Overall the decor, food and service were average at best.

Stephen W.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for years--the pandemic intervened--and I really really wanted to love this restaurant. There definitely is a place in the Dallas restaurant market that serves upscale authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex). Meso Maya used to fill that space for us but their quality has gone down hill so much that we not longer go there. That said, our experience at Tulum did not meet expectations and in fact was disappointing. The evening started well with the Executive Chef stopping by the table and introducing himself, telling us his background and philosophy. I asked what he recommended and he said his top choices were the Yucatan pork and the mushroom enchiladas, so that is what we ordered. We started with the shrimp cocktail which is a deconstructed version and absolutely excellent. The flavors of heat from the fresh jalapeño and sweet from the shrimp married each other really well. We loved it and could eat more as an entry. It was outstanding and really the only thing we liked. We also ordered the grilled oysters but there is a problem in conception and/or execution. The oysters themselves are really small, about one-half of a teaspoon. In addition, they were watery and did not have much flavor. There is cheese on top but you can't taste it. The micro greens dominated the palate. I would not get them again. I ordered the Yucatan pork. I had this dish at Hugo's in Houston and it was phenomenal, and that is what I thought I was getting. At Hugo's the pork shoulder is cooked in banana leaves and oranges to make it flavorful and fall apart tender. It was served pulled with pickled onions and habanero salsa to make tacos a taste sensation. The version at Tulum is different, using pork loin and pork belly. The pork is sliced ,not pulled, and grilled. I do not like pork belly and had that been indicated on the menu I would not have ordered it. The pork loin was tough and chewy. There was nothing tender about it, and it lacked flavor. It was hard to cut and hard to chew. The various accompaniments on the plate could not compensate for the toughness of the meat. I would not recommend this dish. It was a big disappointment. The wife's mushroom enchilada was a disaster. It totally lacked flavor. The sauce seems to be mole but it is a bland mushroom sauce that needed seasoning and some heat. It was just bland, bland, bland. This is a dish that needs to include rice on the plate and not as a side for purchase. I am not sure whether conceptualization of this dish is off or the execution was flawed, but it was awful. I don't see how this could be a top recommendation. The Executive Chef checked in on us at the end and we indicated some of the problems, and he appeared concerned about our feedback. To be honest, and this pains me, the food was not more than 2 stars. It certainly was not worth the price of the meal. I am giving them 3 stars overall to reflect a very attractive ambience and good service. Plus the chef coming by is a nice touch. But at the end of the day you come to a restaurant for the food and our experience was a big disappointment.

Yelp
I visited Tulum with a few girlfriends and turned out to be a wonderful evening. There was around 9 of us. Our server (I believe, Isabella) did a great job of checking in on us routinely to make sure we were not without an empty glass and orders placed for anything else we wanted. The oysters were good but came garnished with popcorn. It was odd but at the same time, the popcorn was good. They also served chips at the table but with no salsa or any sort of dip. I thought this was a little unusual as well. As far as entree, I ordered the lamb chops which came on top of a mole and a side of lime rice and arugula. The rice and mole were sooo good with the lamb chops. I would definitely recommend ordering this if you love lamb chops. As far as dessert, a friend and I shared the lime ice cream sandwich cookie and the coconut panacota. Out of the two, we really enjoyed the sandwich ice cream. It came topped with this toasted marshmallow which was very tasty. The panacota was ok. It probably tasted as it should. I would imagine it's less calories and guilt since it lacked flavor and reminded me of yogurt. Overall, I really liked this place. The cocktails were great and the vibe there was very nice. The service was great. I will definitely be back whether with friends or a date!

Zhen L.

Yelp
We came here for Mother's Day brunch and had a great time! The staff was friendly and even handed out roses for all the moms in the room. We had the shrimp cocktail for starters which was delicious, and my wife got their bacon taco which was on point. My Birria ramen was their brunch special, but it tasted underwhelming which was disappointing, since this was the only special they had that day. The drinks were pretty strong, but that could also be because I'm a lightweight...overall the atmosphere and decor was great, we would go back!

MaDonna W.

Yelp
So, so bueno.... Even tho, Tulum is located in a strip mall, you really don't feel that way once you are inside. Super fun vibe... The food and service are both excellent. We loved their take on guacamole. It came with endive, which I absolutely love and very flavorful.

Brishaun D.

Yelp
First time at Telums. My girlfriends and I had a great time. Let me take you through the absolute journey of our night... The service, unmatched, the atmosphere, dreamy, the food, slapped. I boasted to my friends and family before we left and posted all of the fun. 10 out of 5!

Maria G.

Yelp
After a couple recommendations from friends I decided to try Tulum and wow. I was amazed by the service and delicious food. Edson was phenomenal, he suggested the perfect cocktail with my entree. I will definitely be back with my friends and family. Thank you Edson for showing me such a great time !

Alyson S.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while- and it did NOT disappoint! Highlights: -Cozumel Enchilada -Prawn risotto -Smoky Razz cocktail The ambiance and service of the place are also amazing. Honestly the best Mexican food I have had in the DFW area since moving here. There is a parking lot out front, but it is small. However, looked like there was some valet parking available!

Icaria J.

Yelp
This place has the potential to be great but they are lacking in service and hospitality. We made a reservation for 4 and it took over an hour for us to be seated. No one was apologetic or even showed that they cared. The pistachio enchiladas were phenomenal! I wish they would come with sides but you have to order everything on the side. I ignorantly thought the queso was like the dipping one but it's a glob of cheese with shrimp on top. Drinks were super sugary but fairly priced. All that said... I wouldn't come back but it was ok to go

Kathryn P.

Yelp
Service awesome....food was not my favorite Pretty dinning area! Drinks ok....with so many restaurants in DFW we will keep trying as many as we can!

Dayanara M.

Yelp
Super good food, I loved the service and flavor of the dishes. Also, the inside is so nice and calming, it's very peaceful and cozy and nice for any cute date.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Trendy spot Highly recommend the ceviche and the two enchilada dishes. The sauces over the enchiladas were full of flavor. The cocktails were good but nothing extraordinary. Can't wait to try the other dishes!

Joseph F.

Yelp
I came here for a date night and it was ok. It seems to cater to people in their mid twenties and tries to bring a club-like ambiance to the place. The food was nothing special. Food (2/5): We started with the grilled oysters and elote. The oysters were savory and easy to eat, but the oyster taste was drowned in cheese. I've had fresher elote. I had the Cozumel (beef) enchilada for my entrée. It was tasty, simple, filling, and would have been great at about 2/3rds the price. The lobster tacos taste like any fish taco. We had two sweet cocktails that both took a while to serve. Service (2/5): Everyone was friendly but stopped by way too often. It took a while to find a waiter at times. Ambiance (2/5): There was pretty loud house music that got old. The restaurant and interior are cute. One of the bathrooms was clogged.

Jeanette D.

Yelp
This review is on the happy hour at Tulum. I went with my travel business partners as a meeting before going to Mexico in a few weeks. I got there at 4pm and parked in front of the restaurant. Really parking is limited. After arriving I went to the bar. The happy hour margarita was really strong and tasty. Later we got a table. The staff was very accommodating and offered good service. The food was ok but service and happy hour drinks were really nice. I will go back for happy hour!!

Renee D.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my cousin for her birthday, and the host, Delilah, was so sweet and warm and gave us our table right away, and genuinely talked to my family and I. Our waiters were amazing and attentive , they made sure we didn't need anything, and when we did, we got it right away, and last but not least...THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS, EVERY BIT OF IT! Toni was so sweet to my family and I that she took family pictures, a very genuine, sweet girl. I can't recall our waiters name, but he was so awesome. We will most definitely be going back!

Fabrizio M.

Yelp
I would say that their menu needs improvement. It almost feels like they are trying to save money by providing incomplete dishes and lacking in choices. For example, their enchiladas plate comes by itself; no rice or beans are included. The same goes for the taco plates; they only come with a small side of rice. Most places would give you rice and beans. Dallas has great options for Mexican food, and I am not sure how they want to compete with this type of menu. Also, their prices are on the high end, and the dishes feel incomplete and overpriced. So my suggestion to them is to improve their menu and not overcharge customers.

Caroline A.

Yelp
Great service and great food. The ambiance is nice, I feel like I'm at a restaurant in Mexico. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Would recommend!

Shelley F.

Yelp
We had a friend from Mexico come visit, so we decided to dine at Tulum after seeing the social media hype. The restaurant is filled with beautiful decor in homage to the city the restaurant is named after. Plus, there is a cute neon sign for pictures! There was spacious open bar seating, which is where my party and I sat. To be frank, I am NOT a fan of alcohol whatsoever, but I order a drink every once in a while in hopes of finding something that'll change my mind. I asked the bartender which drink disguised the alcohol taste the most, and per his recommendation, I ordered the Frozen Coco Logo Margarita. The tequila taste was still pretty strong, and the drink did give me brain freeze... but as to be expected from a frozen drink. My friend ordered the Paloma de Tulum, which was also quite strong. As for the food, we ordered Sikil Pak and the Wood Oven Queso Fundido. My Mexican friends said that the food was very authentic. The Sikil Pak, which is a Mayan pumpkin seed salsa, was a delicious new flavor to me. The cheese dip was good, but it cooled down quickly. I had to cut the remaining cheese with a knife. The tortillas and chips had a nice thickness and taste to them. Lastly, for dessert, we had the Chocolate and the Sandwich de Limon. The Chocolate was plated beautifully. The chocolate mousse on the bottom was rather tough and reminded me more of a brownie than a mousse. The menu says that the chocolate composes of both passion fruit and white chocolate ganache, but the passion fruit ganache tasted like milk chocolate to me. The Sandwhich de Limon is an ice cream sandwich. There wasn't as much lemon flavor as I hoped for, but the ice cream had an interesting consistency resembling that of a méringue. Overall, my friend from Mexico really enjoyed my recommendation that we visit this restaurant. While on the pricier side, it was nice to try new flavors beyond the typical Tex-Mex cuisine in the Lone Star State.

Ema M.

Yelp
Nice vibe! Came here for happy hour..sat at the bar. Good drinks.great service. Ended up staying past happy hour ..lol. I would definitely come back.

Terrah L.

Yelp
This was cute spot with a great vibe. The drinks were good and the food was good! I loved my tacos. Service was great and they even had a beautiful photo spot in restaurant. Again, such a vibe!

Marcelle M.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday evening at 6PM, the restaurant was rather empty and our server was extremely attentive. The host was very nice seating us to our table and even taking photos of groups. The food was nice ordered the meat enchiladas, carne asado, and guacamole.

Kendy L.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance here. Service was exceptional. Our waiter knew the menu very well and thoroughly answered our questions. Our food and drinks came out pretty quick. For drinks, I had the wannabe Tulum and my friend had the sandia fresca. We both loved our drinks. It didn't taste like alcohol but it still made us feel buzzed. For our appetizers, we had the wood oven queso fundido. It came with shrimp blended with Mexican cheeses and tortillas. Our waiter mixed it up for us and served it for us. For me I thought it tasted alright. Wasn't a fan of the cheeses and the shrimp tasted average. We also had the cochinita pibil wontons. It comes with pork and beans. Those tasted amazing with the sauce. Loved the flavor of the pulled pork and crispiness of the wonton. For my entree I had the ribs. The flavor of it was there but I wish it was more tender. Overall the experience was nice but the food wasn't as good as what I expected for with the price.

Yelp
Service was great! But I have to brag about their Strawberry agua chile! It was so refreshing and delicious. Will definitely return..

Yelp
Came here for an anniversary (1st visit) and it was great! Very tropical inside. Kinda hard to take a gram photo since its tight space and awkward for people to just watch you take photos HAHAHA. Food is good. We were disappointed in the tamales dessert.. it was dry and lack of taste.

Yelp
‼Honest review: Was sad because I had high hopes for this place! The vibe is nice, music is good but I was highly concerned why the happy hour was NOT busy! We still decided to try it out anyway... bartender was polite & had some recommendations... we chose what she recommended. We ordered the short rib tostaditas & the beef tacos (suerdo tacos if I'm not mistaken) and they were rotten! The cheese was smelly & when you ate one taco you could immediately tell it was rotten cheese on it. I ABSOLUTELY HATE sending food back, but I didn't want to get food poisoning... she said she also noticed the smell when she initially picked it up from the kitchen, (in my head I'm thinking so why would you serve me some rotten food? ) She took the food back and came out with some new tostadas with the cheese on the side and I asked her how were they able to replace the cheese so fast if their cheese is rotten? She said because they used OLD CHEESE and that they had to switch it out. For an establishment that is this upscale this is unacceptable and they need to do better not only did they remake it they didn't take this off my bill which was kind of scandalous... the tacos were not very flavorful and had a lot of fat on the beef. I wouldn't return to this establishment but it was a good IDEA... that's about it!

Yelp
The ambience was nice, food was not the best seasoned too me. The flavor was hit or miss, I think it's the decor that makes this place special. I was not too enthralled with the seasonings in our food but the overall location and bar seating made the experience enjoyable.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday at Tulum and enjoyed the ambiance very much so!! The food was delicious I had the braised ribs and they were deliciously tender Now, don't quote me but I believe my sister had mole (Mexican sauce made with chiles, spices, nuts, and other various ingredients), my best friend had fish tacos with guacamole, and my other two beloved guests had pasta and a salad. Everything was good. The only thing we thought could have been better where the portions. However, we are always over fed anywhere else so we could appreciate the proportionate servings. Since I was the birthday girl they brought a dessert, but to be honest, it kind of look like poop lol it was good tho I would go back. Thank you to the wonderful staff!!

Yelp
I am so glad I had the absolute pleasure of checking this spot out!!! I was in town for the weekend and this restaurant almost did not get checked off my to do list. However, it was meant to be, so I was able to snag a table. We arrived and parked at the rear of the building. The entrance to this restaurant is a massive wooden door. Once you walk through you are at the bar. It's a very strange entrance given that you have to walk past the bar to get to the host stand. I advised the host that I called in about 10 minutes ago regarding getting a table as a walk in party. She recalled the conversation and said she would get us a table in a few minutes. I think it took all of 10-15 minutes to be seated. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, the service was nothing short of amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly, accommodating and seemed to genuinely want to make sure guests were happy. In regards to the food, where do I begin? The elote corn was our appetizer. It tasted like the corn was recently shucked off the Cobb. The flavor was sweet and a little salty. It was perfect! I had the octopus for my entree. When I tell you that the combination of the flavors on my plate did something wonderful to my taste buds! Oh my gosh- it was delicious! My sister and our friend also enjoyed their dishes. Last, but not least- the ambiance. It is such a Vibe. If you are into a bohemian classy atmosphere this is your spot. The lighting is unique and beautiful. The decor is mostly neutral with spots of color. In addition to being beautiful the place is super clean, including the restrooms. If you are thinking about patronizing, please stop thinking and just book. I can assure you there will be no regrets!

Yelp
This new hot spot has been all over my Instagram feed and for good reason. The moment you walk inside your instantly transformed to a relaxing and fun oasis. The vibes and energy is all about a fun night out. The drinks were not only picture perfect, but equally delicious. Unfortunately it went down hill from there. We started with the queso served with fresh warm tortillas, however I would have preferred chips. We tried the fish, Yucatan pork, and Carne Asada? Each dish got worse and we were discouraged from trying another dish. The fish was dry and accompanying broccoli was cold. The pork lacked any flavor and could not be cut with a knife. The carné asada was just as tough and chewy, yet the seasoning had potential. The only saving grace from rating a 1star with the food being such a disappointment was the staff being extremely attentive. We received great service and offered a complimentary dessert for our dissatisfaction with our meals. In error we opted for the chocolate which was an intense rich bite of mouse. I would only recommend Tulum for their drinks and ambience, but was not a fan of any items on their menu.

Yelp
I visited Tulum restaurant while also in Dallas ,and checked out all of the recommended dishes they offered . Everything was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful . Tulum lived up to all my expectations as a cool trendy spot with great food and service. We all enjoyed our food. Down below were the dishes we ordered. Be Elote - wood oven roasted corn | coffee habañero ash mayonnaise | aged cheese octopus - zarandeado sauce | black bean purée | kohlrabi slaw | toreado onion shrimp chile relleno- seasoned shrimp | poblano pepper | tomato sauce | blend of mexican cheeses | handmade tortillas lamb chops- mint rice | mole manchamanteles | arugula Everything from the ambiance, the food , drinks etc they are definitely high up there on my list of places to go to when going back to Dallas.
