Best Restaurants and Food Markets on Buford Highway, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Specializing in Isan-style street food, this spot takes a modern approach to Northeastern Thai cuisine while maintaining respect for the strong and fresh flavors that the region is universally known for. Their menu includes several types of papaya salads, larbs, Isan sour sausages, a variety of grilled meats, and many other must-try dishes not often found in the typical, westernized Thai restaurants around Atlanta." - Michael Tran

Best Thai Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"This Buford Highway restaurant specializes in Isan street foods found throughout northeast Thailand bordering the Mekong River. Dishes and ingredients from the region are similar to those in the neighboring country of Laos. The menu includes dishes like papaya salad, larb, crab and pork dumplings, green curry, Isan sour sausage, and mango sticky rice, along with Thai iced milk tea and a Thai Shirley Temple. Look for other dishes, too, including roti massaman, pad Thai, and moo-grop (stir-fried crispy pork served in Thai basil sauce). Say cheers with a Singha or Chang beer, or consider one of their colorful mocktails." - Carolyn Desalu

Literally one of the best Thai places I’ve been to in Georgia! I’m very picky with my papaya salads and this place has topped all Thai places I’ve been to so far including outside of Georgia… if you’re looking for an authentic Thai restaurant, look no further. Even the ambiance screams Thailand! The decorations are so entertaining and colorful. They even sell some of their products like cups, for example. Service was great and food came out pretty fast. They have a doorbell system on their table and if you need anything, you just press the button. We ordered quite a bit, papaya salad, drunken noodles with beef, pad Thai with chicken and tofu, masaman curry with chicken. Also, the pad Thai was one of the most authentic I’ve had, you can taste the tamarind along with all the savory flavors. Also, great place for small or large groups; dates, ladies/guys night out, quick lunch, dinner. Absolutely loved my experience here. But to each their own right? Check this place out for yourself! I know I’d love to come back. Till then, let’s eat!

Google
Felt like stepping into Thailand—the atmosphere is fun, vibrant, and super authentic. The menu has plenty of spicy options for Isan food lovers. Service was minimal—you order by scanning a QR code, and they just bring the food. Gratuity (18%) is already included, even for a party of 2 which felt a bit much considering the limited service. Great spot for bold Thai flavors and a casual, street-style vibe.

Google
The food is quite good. However, the service is very disappointing! There are two reasons I rated two stars: first was when a male server brought us a dish that we didn’t order. As soon as he found out, he abruptly returned to our table and snatched the tofu dish, mumbling “Wrong table!” He didn’t say anything properly like sorry or something similar. Or at least tell us in a polite manner. He didn’t even checked if we have touched the dish yet. We see this as impolite and unprofessional. Second reason is regarding the bill: every item listed on the receipt is different from the price listed in the menu they gave us. For example, the tom-yum soup cup was $9, NOT $7 as listed (see photos attached). My friend and I were taken by unpleasant surprise when we were charged over $80, which was supposed to be around $60. I don’t think I would ever come back here or recommend this place to anyone.

I recently dined at Tum Pok Pok, and I was thoroughly impressed! The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor. The restaurant's ability to tailor the spice level to our preferences was impressive - whether you like it hot or mild, they've got you covered. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made the entire experience seamless. Ordering and paying over the phone was a breeze, making takeout a convenient option. This feature was especially great for our group, as it allowed us to order and pay separately with ease - no hassle of splitting the check! Overall, I highly recommend Tum Pok Pok for its mouth-watering Thai cuisine, exceptional service, and convenient ordering and payment options. I'll definitely be back for more!

Google
One of the best Thai restaurants!!!! The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and filled with inviting decor that made the meal even more enjoyable. We ordered the drunken noodles and it was amazing!!!!! The service was also top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Thai food in a stunning setting, Tum Pok Pok is the place to go. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes! Highly recommended!

Really colorful and vibrant atmosphere. The food was just as such. The massaman curry was rich and savory and the crispy pork belly and veggies went really well together in it.

Google
Tum Pok Pok is a beautiful restaurant that truly captures the essence of Thailand with its vibrant decor and ambiance. Walking in felt like being transported back to the streets of Thailand. The service was warm and attentive, which made the experience enjoyable. While the food was decent, it didn’t quite meet my personal expectations in terms of flavor. The same goes for the cocktails—they were creative, but the taste wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for. That said, it’s clear the restaurant puts a lot of effort into presentation and creating an authentic vibe. Overall, it’s a nice spot to visit, especially if you’re looking for a unique Thai dining experience. I’d consider coming back to try some other dishes.

Yelp
I love all things Thai but to have a hip restaurant offering an expansion of this cuisine with a street food flare is a rare find. When you are seated you just scan the QR code and order what you want and pay for it. A service charge is already included (basically a gratuity) in the price. Seating was spacious so we didn't wait long to be seated. We had the pan-see-ew noodles with your choice of meat. These are the flat noodles bathed in an umami brown sauce with some sliced veggies. This was so good I was stealing bites from my daughter when she wasn't looking. Texture was a perfect mouthfeel without being too chewy or starchy. We also had the classic massaman curry with tofu (again you can choose the protein). With a side of jasmine rice the sauce was a deep orange color and was bursting with flavor. Would recommend getting this on the mild side because it was quite spicy. For appetizers we tried the flat bread with curry sauce. Served with wedges of a grilled flat bread with a dipping sauce reminiscent of turmeric and cumin but not overly bitter. The base to the massaman curry but lighter in taste which works well with the bread. Also tried the tum thai which is green papaya bath in fish sauce, cilantro and scallions. They serve a lot of dishes with a small wedge of cabbage which was a perfect pairing to the tart heat of this dish. Also tried the glarb gai which is a crumbled ground chicken imbibed with lemon, fish sauce, scallions and spices. This also paired well with the cabbage wedge and was a satisfying bite. I saw a bunch of couples ordering the hot pots which also looked like fun (perfect for a date night). Altogether I absolutely loved the food and will be back many more times!

Yelp
Looking to celebrate my birthday over some thai food, my friend recommended I take my aunt to this place. There is a whole parking lot with specified spots in front of the restaurant which was convenient. We got seated right away and were able to place and pay for our entire order online via the QR code. I got S4 Guay Tiew Nam Sai (Noodle Soup) while my aunt got their V24 Kao-Pad (Thai Fired Rice) price w/ shrimp. Having had a lot of heavy meals prior, I wanted a light clear broth and that's certain what mine was. Perhaps a little too light for what I wanted but luckily there are the 4 side sauces you can easy add to the dish. But be careful, the chili peppers certainly carry a kick. Overall, I had a good experience and am interested in giving other dishes a shot. The staff were so sweet and the decorations are very intentional and representative of Thailand. Can't wait for the opportunity to come again!

Yelp
Seven months later, I'm back--like the Terminator! No food pics this time, just vivid, mouthwatering memories. So, let me paint the scene: I'm usually adventurous with food because playing it safe is yawn boring. But I'll admit, I revisited an old flame--tofu pad thai with vegetables, level 4. Last time, I went for level 5 spice and... well, let's just say my mouth was auditioning for a fire-eating circus act. This time, level 4 felt way too mild, so next visit, I'm dialing it in at a 4.5. Now, my cousin? They played no games. They ordered the crab fried rice and fried chicken, highly recommended by the host/owner. And y'all... that chicken was life-changing! Whatever that red sprinkle on top is? Pure magic. Fast forward to the next day--there I was, staring at my leftover veggie pad thai & 3 chicken wings. I scraped the plate clean and sank into complete, tragic sadness. Gone, but never forgotten. Oh, and the place? You order through a QR code--super modern. The decor? A whole vibe: fun, festive, and Instagram-worthy if you're into that. And service? They've got this radar where they appear to help the second you glance up for assistance. Seriously, go tomorrow and treat yourself! I just went this past Tuesday (12/17), and I'm already plotting my return.

Yelp
My friend and I visited Tum Pok Pok for lunch today. The moment we walked in, we were struck by the restaurant's vibrant and dynamic interior. The decor is a captivating fusion of minimalist and rustic styles. The simple lines of the furniture are beautifully complemented by rustic lanterns that cast a warm, inviting glow. The walls are adorned with colorful, eye-catching artwork and unique embellishments, creating an atmosphere that feels both modern and steeped in cultural charm. Throughout the restaurant, pops of vibrant color energize the space, while the soft hum of cultural music provides a lively, immersive backdrop to the meal. However, if you venture to the bathroom, the music turns up a notch, and you might feel more like you're at a club than a casual eatery. It's an interesting contrast, but one that adds to the restaurant's fun and eclectic vibe. For drinks, I ordered a Thai Black Tea with Lime ($4), which was wonderfully refreshing. The sweetness of the tea balanced with the tangy lime made for a perfectly satisfying drink. It was smooth and sweet, with just the right amount of citrus zing. For my main course, I went with the Kao Pad Kra Pow (Basil Fried Rice) with Chicken ($18). As someone who loves this Thai classic, I was excited to dig in but unfortunately, the dish left me wanting more. The fried rice had a pleasant fragrance, but it lacked the depth of flavor I've come to expect from this dish. The basil, which is typically the star of the show, didn't shine as much as I had hoped, and the chicken was on the dry side, which made the dish feel a bit underwhelming. I was surprised the Kao Pad Kra Pow didn't have the bold flavors I was expecting. For a place that delivers such a dynamic ambiance, I had hoped the food would have matched that energy. That said, I'd still be open to returning and trying other items on the menu.

Yelp
You can find Tum Pok Pok at 5000 Buford Hwy NE Atlanta, GA 30341. This is the shopping center directly behind Food Terminal and on the left when facing City Farmers Market. There's tons of free parking but it can get pretty filled up during prime times. I don't believe there's another Atlanta restaurant that focuses on Thai street food? In any case this unusual restaurant is a favorite, both for the variety of Isan dishes and flavors, and the welcoming interior decor, which is a mix of Asian Kitsch and Thai market with plenty to observe and examine everywhere you gaze. I've eaten here many times, including the first week it opened. Most recently sampled the Pad See Yew with chicken and the delicious Somtum. I recommend all the papaya salad you can stand and if you like it extra umami, get it with the real fish sauce (it's pungent but oh so good!). Service is always exceptional here, even when it's busy and it's often quite busy - plan to hit it early afternoon. They also allow you to bring your own alcohol - I always travel here with a couple of cans of sour fruity beer which works exceptional well with the food. All of the curries are exceptional and they'll make it spicy if you ask.

Yelp
I am a member of the Tasting Collective and one of the chef's at a seating recommended this as one of their favorite restaurants. I came on a Sunday around 2-3 pm and it was pretty quiet with only a few tables filled. The restaurant is quite big and it is self serve via Toast but there's also a buzzer you can ring the staff for more assistance. On to the food - I tried the Pad Thai Chicken just to get a baseline but also tried their Larb with some crispy rice in it which was my favorite. The portions were very generous and definitely could feed two for multiple meals. I hate soggy noodles but the Pad Thai had a good chew and flavors were delicious. They have a pretty extensive menu so I will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
If you're looking for the best Tom Yum soup in Chamblee, Tum Pok Pok is the spot! The seafood Tom Yum served in a flaming pot is packed with flavor, and the Beef Pad Thai and Garlic Edamame were also amazing. Generous portions, great service, and authentic Thai flavors--I'm definitely coming back! I'm gonna bring my family next time when they visit

Yelp
First thing is first. You MUST visit the restroom at this restaurant. You will know why I said that once you do. The staff is so friendly here and food tastes really good. We asked them to make the food spicy and the chef came out to make sure it was spicy enough. I like how you can order through your phone and pay for it, but also ring the bell and order too. Good to have both options. The seafood noodle dish is pretty reasonable compared to most Thai restaurants. Everything tasted really good and the food came out pretty quick.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best Thai food near Atlanta can be found at @tum_pok_pok ‼‼‼ When I tell you this is my second time here and the flavors are just as good as I remember! If you want to feel like you're in Thailand eating authentic Thai cuisine, this is most definitely the place! From the interior to the food! If you're looking for a nice tasting spicy soup, you have to try the Seafood Tom Yum Hot Pot! Probably the best hot pot I've ever tasted & my favorite of the night! Also, make sure you try the chicken wings which are fried to perfection! You really can't go wrong with anything you pick here really! Check them out & tell us what you think ! Thanks Tum Pok Pok!

Yelp
I've had quite a bit of Thai food and have a high bar. For the Atlanta area, this Thai spot is one of the better ones! The ambiance is very loud so don't come here if you're looking for a quiet romantic night. The decor and loud music make it feel like you have been transported to a street market in Thailand! Great vibes. They also do a self ordering service on your phone which is nice and efficient In terms of food, we got the roti, pad see ewe, and pad kra pow moo grob. We were not a huge fan of the roti. It wasn't as layered and flakey as other roti I have had. I really liked the pad kra pow dish. The pork belly was super crispy and delicious, and the sauce that comes with the rice dish is a perfect balance of sweet, savory, with a very nice hint of spicy that was really nice. Pad see ewe was okay, nothing outstanding but it's wasn't bad either. We would def come back if we're feeling Thai food in the future!
google avatar

Brian X.

Yelp
The service is okay. You're seated to your table, order off the QR code. There's no official waiter/waitresses but they're accommodating if you'll need something(extra water/napkins). Roti Rating(3/10) - The roti was very dougy, and not layered/flaky. It felt like it was taken out of a package and thrown on a pan(something I felt like I could get at Trader Joe's) Pad Kra Pow - 8/10 - delicious. Soy based and the texture of the crispy pork made it even better. Pad see ew - 7/10 - Slightly better than your standard pad see ew. Ambiance - Felt like I was on the bar strips at Thai land eat food. Very unique vibe. I enjoyed it

Yelp
Walking into the restaurant, I really liked the Thai decor and small trinkets displayed. It was pretty busy for a late lunch. You can scan a QR code to order and pay for your meal. Be aware though, 15% tip was automatically included. There was AC condensation in a few areas of the restaurant, so water was dripping down. Luckily none of the water droplets landed in the food... Ordered Tum korat papaya salad for the table; it was just ok. Felt like I should've picked another papaya salad from their other options. Not the best khao soi; I've had better. I wished it was more savory. Had a bad first impression of the lao kao tord (crispy rice, minced chicken) but enjoyed it more once I avoided the ginger. That dish was honestly the highlight of the lunch. Pad kee mao was pretty average. Overall not a bad experience, but I would only come to dine at this Thai restaurant once.
google avatar

Anissa C.

Yelp
Food: 0 Service: 0 Ambiance: 1 Beautiful place with horrible food! Things to know: You will be charged a 15% sevice charge, for eating in! Get this no one takes your order, you must use a QCode to place your order and pay! We ordered two dishes and 2 drinks for $80! I wouldn't complain if the food was actually good!! My husband pad Thai was almost tasteless .. The prawns had NO taste at all! My hot post was, not good! The broth was sweet and sour.. I'm sure you can tell, I will not return.... I found this place via instagram! I'm convinced these people are being paid to lie. Save your time and money and go some place else
google avatar

Seema Z.

Yelp
The food at this spot is excellent. The ordering the system is self order via website and each person can start their tab. They also have call buttons on each table if you need wafer service. That said. Regardless of party size tip is already added on without an option to edit except you can add extra. We liked the khao seo which is a Burmese coconut based noodle soup. Pork wantons were nicely spiced. Pad thai was very heavy on fish sauce and strictly average. Recommend the tom yum soup too. Thai ice tea is served in kettle that you pour, is pretty decent but nothing exceptional
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The service was average. It was nice to order online and them bring it to us but I came with a whole group and the food came as it later after each other and we didn't get to enjoy our group experience, it was not a busy day too. I really like the atmosphere, it was really nice. Some of the food was good, but my Thai basil was abit burnt in the bottom, it just didn't taste fresh and the mango coconut rice wasn't as good like other places. The noodle and sausage were good.
google avatar

Kellis N.

Yelp
I love the ambiance of the place the decorations really add to the overall vibe. I loved the texture and flavor of the crispy pork, the rice was a bit too dry but other than that the dish was perfect. I liked the Pad Thai I felt like it had a nice nutty flavor and there was plenty of noodles. I really enjoyed the soup, it's definitely one of the best I've had so far and I would go back for this dish alone. This is definitely a must visit if you're in the area.
google avatar

Iris W.

Yelp
We love this place and try to get here every time we visit Atlanta. Tum pok pok has a Thai street food style decor and they do a great job hitting that vibe. The food is absolutely amazing--wonderful flavors, just the right oil/spice level/seasonings/cooking degree--just perfectly cooked food. The crab omelette is a must have and the larb gai was another favorite this meal. Our server Suji was attentive and helpful. Overall we ate too much and cannot wait for the next visit!
google avatar

Toya S.

Yelp
Im always in this area but I wanted to try something familiar yet different or at least a different vibe. I saw this place with decent reviews and decided to give it a go. Long story short, the food is good. I ordered the pad Thai add chicken and Thai tea. The pad Thai had the traditional flavor. I requested light bean sprouts. For some reason, I felt like this dish had a little tofu in it that I didn't read on the menu but keep an eye on your dish if this is a problem for you. The Thai tea is my personal fave anywhere I go so no complaints here. Service was quick. I was greeted by Suji when I walked in. He explained how to place my order and less than 15 minutes my order arrived. If you're ever in the area check this place out. The parking is definitely tight as it's in a shared shopping plaza. I went around lunch time.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes!!! Go here! It's delicious, flavorful, and reasonable, it has a parking lot, good lighting, cute interior, efficient service....thats enough reasons for you to go. The menu is large enough to satisfy a variety of cravings and I def want to come back to try a curry. On this visit we had the papaya salad and wings to start. Order those. Actually get two orders of the wings. They are that good. So good my mother ate 2 and this is from a woman that does not like fried chicken. The papaya salad was spicy and good. I don't order this dish enough to know if it's the best in the city but it is good and I think it makes a spicy and fresh addition to a meal. Basil fried rice was excellent. We got it with tofu (eye roll- my sister ordered that!) so I would prob get it with chicken or shrimp but the tofu WAS good. The last dish was the Thai bbq noodle. We didn't love that- although the bok choy and BBQ were delish, the noodles were not to our liking. However, all of the food was we had served HOT!!! And fresh. Like many places that serve food in this manner I suggest ordering your appetizers first and then waiting to place your entrees if you are a stickler for the apps coming out first . I think we got wings, salad, and noodle dish all at once. No big deal but because we are starving lol! This is my 2nd time here and I would probably go here a lot more if it weren't next to best bbq which I am always craving. Give Tum Pok Pok a try!

Yelp
Horrible horrible horrible service. Servers sat around and did not serve the guests. Menu has discrepancies so get careful of price. Waited for a longtime. Servers were more interested in talking with each other so we got up and left. This place has seriously sucks.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
I ordered the pad see ewe, and it was really good. Everything our table tried minus the calamari were very tasty. The ambiance of the place is really cute with authentic Thai decorations. However the service was severely lacking. As mentioned in other reviews, the self service concept is extremely unhelpful to the point where our table had questions on the menu but we were told by one server they were unable to help us and to use the call button which barely worked.... And in very typical ATL fashion, the gratuity was automatically added to the end of the bill for terrible service.
google avatar

Kaung S.

Yelp
As a lifelong hater of most Americanized Thai restaurants, let me tell you, I've finally found a joint that I'd gladly come back to when I'm craving that kind of cuisine. They are kind enough to offer you a picture menu, but you're going to use a QR code to order for the table. The food came out quick, and service was attentive, coming around frequently enough to ask if we needed anything. The dishes were got were T5 Roti Masaman, T13 Pad Kra Pow Moo Grop, and S11 Khao Soi. Overall I thought the food was full of flavor, and the kind you wouldn't typically find elsewhere. For instance, my Khao Soi was like the Masaman Curry you'd find at Tin Drum, but way more elevated. The spice level across the dishes was pretty high, so be warned. I can tolerate heat, but don't enjoy it after a certain point.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Excellent food and atmosphere! I like to come here with groups because the portion sizes are generous and easy to split. The panang curry is one of my favorites, and is richer than other versions of the dish I get at different restaurants. The addition of green beans compliments the flavor of the curry. They also have what is probably the best Thai tea I've tasted. It's a must-get every time.
google avatar

Fran S.

Yelp
I wanted to find the crab fried rice and I boy, did I find it. I ordered it with vegetables and tofu. It was a take away order, so I had to wait a while before I got in to it. I was surprised at how much food there was in the small box. There really was enough for two and half people. The crab rice had lots of green beans, corn, red peppers and tofu, but the star for me and worth making my trip to find it was the crab rice. There was lots of crab in it and it was very flavorful throughout. Although I did specify that I could take the spice level, I don't think they took my word for it, but they did place some spicy goodness on the side in a separate container for me to test out my heat profile. The space has lots of trinkets and items that will put your mind in Thailand even if your body isn't there. The service is fast and friendly. Since it was so tasty, I will be seeing them again soon.

Yelp
I first saw Tum Pok Pok when they're opening with featured on the morning news. I am a fan of Thai food and a great Lychee Martini so, I'm surprised it took me this long to visit the restaurant. I ordered my food to go on a kiosk which was pretty efficient and straightforward. And then I sat at the bar while I waited for my food to be prepared and try their Lychee Martini. There wasn't much interaction with the staff or customer service as I place my drink order via QR code as well and it was handed to me. I did try to spring rolls once they came out because I like them hot and, I really enjoyed them. The basil fried rice was also good and cannot be in one portion. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Carolyn T.

Yelp
The food was ok. The Tom Yum soup was pretty good flavor wise but the noodles were a bit soggy. We got some jasmine rice too but it was dry. You order on your phone and then the server brings out the food. The tip is already included when you checkout. We also asked for hot tea but I think the server forgot and it never came... the interior is really cute though!
google avatar

Amber L.

Yelp
The beef noodle soup is awesome. We took my Thai mother in law here and she said this was authentic Thai street food/homemade humble food. The decor is so fun and the staff are super sweet I love the button system to get the staffs attention. It means we can eat without that awkward check in with a full mouth of food
google avatar

Georgia T.

Yelp
Flavor was really good. But not a lot of noodles (almost none) in the drunken noodles and over cooked Chicken was dry and had some bits of hard stuff in it that made it hard to eat. But sauce was good Thai fried rice was mid in flavor Overall flavor is pretty good but I feel like they could just do the most basic thing, like cook the noodles right
google avatar

Yelp
As a Thai person who grew up on these dishes both at home and in actual Thailand, I can confidently say that Tum Pok Pok does not deliver authentic Thai food. Seemed to cater extremely to American tastes, as many dishes tasted sweet that should not have been so sweet. The authenticity begins and ends with the interior ambiance and decor, which was honestly impressive. I went with my parents, who said that the music was very country. That might have set my expectations for the food a bit too high. The service was very attentive, though. They brought food out promptly and were really nice when we asked for extras. I liked the online ordering system because it minimized my need to talk to anyone, and checkout was a breeze with Apple Pay. Thai Iced Coffee was a little too sweet for my liking. It also isn't as strong as the Thai iced coffee that my mom makes back at home. Tum Thai (papaya salad) was so lacking in flavor. Super disappointing. Probably the only dish we ordered that wasn't sweet, but tasted not great. Kao Lao Yen Ta Fo Hot Pot was not as pink and not as flavorful as the Yen Ta Fo I've had in Hawaii and Thailand. It was also excessively sweet. I get that Yen Ta Fo is supposed to be sweet, but it feels like they put a couple of extra tablespoons of sugar, and it did the dish no favors. Pad Kra Pow Moo Grop (crispy pork) was also sweet... the texture of the pork was not as crispy as I had hoped, but that's the nature of stir-fry. Num Tok was probably the best thing we ordered. The most authentic dish out of everything we had. Well-seasoned and tender meat. Overall just aight. I wouldn't recommend it. My search for authentic Thai food in the Atlanta area continues.

Yelp
Best Panang Curry I've ever had. I went for the first time last Saturday and have been back twice since. I. Cannot. Get. Enough. They are super attentive to the notes when you order on your phone. You can swap out the side of rice for other things like glass noodles which I did the last time I was there. I enjoyed that even more. To did prefer the chicken as opposed to the shrimp in the curry since the flavors of the protein don't really come through and the shrimp is a dollar extra. Going to try it with beef next time and see if that makes any difference. I have never had Thai tea before. I tried the Thai tea with milk, and it was by no means bad, Just not for me. I tried the Thai tea with lime the next time I went and enjoyed that much more. My fiancé got the Khao Soi which is his favorite food ever. He used to go to a place in Idaho, when he lived there, and get it all the time. That is where it became his favorite. I was so so so happy when he took his first bite of this one and was so happy with the flavor. Both times we've been he's eaten the whole thing. It comes with a big chicken leg which he wasn't crazy about, but the second time we went, he put in the notes to get the sliced chicken and they substituted it no problem!! Will probably be going back here for the rest of my life. So insanely delicious.

Yelp
When you order, you have to scan a barcode that shows you the menu online and you have to pay online. So you do not get a lot of service from the waiters other than they bringing food and drinks out once you've placed your order. Even though this is a different system than what I'm used to, I still liked it. The food came out quickly and the people were kind while sitting us and bringing out our food. The decor in the place is also super fun. I loved the doll that was sitting on a bullhead and all of the other eclectic decor! It had a fun vibe, and the music also added to it. The food was absolutely delicious. I went for the first time for lunch out as part of a work event, and I had ordered massaman curry that was delightful. This time I went with my boyfriend and also loved it. It was my first time trying Thai coffee and I loved it. It had such a strong taste, and as a coffee lover, it was a fun surprise. The noodle soup I ordered was also creamy, spicy, and filling. It was a fun combination of flavors that made me keep wanting to eat (but it was so spicy that I held back a bit XD). Overall, a solid place for a Thai food lover! Check it out if you're ever in the Buford Hwy area!

Yelp
I went here last weekend with some friends and it was sooo good that my friends want to come back again. I loved that everything came out quick and all the food especially the soup was so good impact with so much flavor and it was big enough to share all the food we got was amazing and a good portion because we shared basically everything only thing is we had to order everything on the phone, which was OK but when I go out, I'd rather the servers come and serve us and take our order instead of us doing it all because they do charge a tip when you order.

Yelp
Dine-in: Saturday 5/27/23 7:45p I visited Tum Pok Pok for dinner and I have to say it was a delightful experience. The restaurant had beautiful Thai-inspired decor, making me feel like I was in Thailand. Menu in QR code allow you to order and pay on your phone. For those who is not comfortable with order/pay on their phone. Each table equipped with a call button for customers to press when they are ready to order or request service. The menu had variety of authentic Thai options. I ordered a handful of dishes to try. The 2 dishes that I really like are Gai Yang and Tum Pu Plara. Gai Yang is grilled chicken, very tenderized and juicy, packed with full of flavor. The Tum Pu Plara is an authentic papaya salad with fermented fish sauce and crab, served with some fresh cabbage. It's a combination of salty, sweet, sour and spicy in every bite. The service was good. Staff pretty attentive, and food came out fairly quick. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. Restaurant does have space to accommodate large party. It definitely an establishment that provides an energetic atmosphere for its guests. The music creates a vibrant ambiance and adds to the overall experience of dining out. However, it may not be ideal for those who prefer a quieter dining experience.

Yelp
I dined at Tum Pok Pok on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 8 pm for dinner. First impressions... I really like the convenience of ordering through your phone because you don't have to wait for the staff to take your order. You can see how much your total tab is as you go and can close the tab at the very end of the meal. That way, you can even order more food. If you need the server, there's a button at the table to call them. Ambience: The restaurant's interior design was unique, ethnic, and colorful. The loud music and dim lighting accentuated the feel of a busy Thai street market night life. Food: The food was not impressive. The pad zee ew was overly sweet and saucy to my taste. The noodles needed more time on a hot wok to get that char smoky flavor that an authentic pad zee ew supposed to have. Pad zee ew should be dry and not too wet. The gai yang chicken was slightly undercooked and had to be sent back. The pad kra pow moo-grop had good flavor, but was saucy. Service: Staff was nice and attentive enough to come check on my table several times to make sure we got everything we needed including refilling water and clearing empty plates. The food came out fairly quickly. Overall, the food was pretty authentic, but thought there were technical flaws in some of the dish's execution. The food seem to go heavy on their sauces. For a classic Thai dish like the pad zee ew, I was dissatisfied. It wasn't a terrible meal, but could have been much better. Maybe it's just my preferences conflicting with their cooking style?

Yelp
I like the indoor vibe - urban and chic. Food was fresh. Food came out hot. The fried pork dumplings are good. I like my green curry with shrimp. Would recommend and will be back.

Yelp
Thai Style Papaya Salad (Thai Spicy )- Delicious perfect crunch texture from the fresh papaya perfect amount of sweet, sour, and umami flavor. To have will the Grilled Squid. Reminds me of when I was in Thailand. Tom Yum was good, kinda of too sweet than what I'm used to too. But overall good. Love the decor of the restaurant and the music, made me feel like I was Thailand. Service was nice but you're mainly ordering through an app. Instead of with the server. Overall i would recommend going there and definitely go back and try some more food off their menu.

Yelp
There's plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center. I can't remember if we had reservations but we came on a Friday night early like 5ish and there were plenty of tables but it did start to fill up. Everything was so good. Service was friendly and efficient. There's so much to try I can't wait to go back and try more. I had drunken noodles and a lemon grass soup. My friends ordered spring rolls for the table. Everything was great I want to go back really soon.

Yelp
Lovely, Thai themed decor. Fairly quiet on a Sunday night. Order via QR code and each table had service bell that was quick. Crab cake was ordinary and the pad kra pow was flavorful! I asked for "mild" but it was still way too spicy for my taste. Couldn't finish it and had to take home for a 2nd meal with more white rice. Just beware of you spice level tolerance!

Yelp
I officially do not trust TikTok reviews. I'm a Thai enthusiast and was excited to visit this place after so many positive reviews and wow what a disappointment. Biggest waste of our time. The food was a 1/10. Absolutely no flavor. The meats are unseasoned. The fried rice had no taste and was so bad we sent it back to exchange for another item. The Thai basil was less than average: my far the weakest I have ever experienced flavor wise. The hot pot not only was $28 for a quarter of the size of any standard hot pot but it also did not taste anywhere near as good as hot pot at other Thai restaurants (I've been to hundreds around the globe). The 1 is for the Thai tea & spring rolls! The service experience is strange. You arrive and order on your phone via a QR code and are promoted to pay immediately (the only option is Apple Pay or cash which is inaccessible). The total includes a tip, regardless of the size of the party or the actual service provided. You don't truly have a waiter. They just put a jug of tap water and wet plastic cups on your table for you to help yourself. They don't really check in or assist much, which is fine but then why are we tipping 15% when we are waiting on ourselves???? But it gets worse. It's time for us to leave and we get a notification as we are driving that the restaurant attempted to charge our card an additional $25 on Apple Pay but it wasn't going through. Odd. Why are we being charged any additional amount after the authorized amount we already paid? Then we get a call from the restaurant saying we owe money??? So we go back to the restaurant and turns out we were charged extra, but someone else said it was an accident, while someone else said a refund was issued and we were never charged x amount. The system is a mess and it doesn't help that they said this happens often as one of the employees was making calls to other customers notifying them that they still owe money as well? Nothing about this experience made sense except the spring rolls, Thai tea, and very cool ambiance. If you're hungry and want good Thai, go elsewhere.

Yelp
We were in the area and stopped by for lunch. Suji was our server and he was friendly, attentive. Food was amazing! My MIL thoroughly enjoyed everything, esp the Kanom Jean Keng Tai Pla. The spice level was on point!

Yelp
I was recommended this by Erin S. As the best Thai place in Atlanta and boy was she right! Tum pok pok is the absolute best place located in the same plaza as food terminal. We always get the pad zee and Tom-kha Soup! Both are so fresh with really yummy vegetables! I love the atmosphere it's decorated so fun! I also love that you can order thing from your phone so it's really efficient and different people can come without having to worry about splitting checks etc

Yelp
I really wish I could give a rating of zero stars or better yet negative stars. I'm so confused about why or how this restaurant shows up on google with a rating of 4.7/5. Lies! So let's get into it. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was greeted by the smell of a dirty soiled mop. I was seated in the back of the restaurant against the wall in a tiny booth even though I advised there would be three of us dining. Upon reaching the booth, the first thing I noticed was that the walls were disgustingly dirty. Next, it was explained to me that I should use the QR code to place my order as well as to pay and if I need anything else, just press the "call button." My friend arrived and also noticed the nasty walls. We chatted about how we felt like we were ordering from Uber Eats, rather than dining in at a restaurant. The workers are lazy. We witnessed one drop a dirty napkin as she took away a plate to the kitchen then walked over it twice without picking it up from the floor. We asked for our seat to be moved and the lady was absolutely annoyed by the request. I ordered the Larb Gai, which I've had and enjoyed from a different Thai restaurant. When I received it, it was cold...like refrigerated cold. I sent it back although she said it was "supposed" to be cold. We received no service other than when we pressed the button and someone begrudgingly came over with a look and energy of annoyance. When we left, no one even took the time to say thank you, have a good day, don't ever come back, or anything at all! Lastly, the AUDACITY to charge a service fee of 15% is just disgusting. This place is nowhere close to being on the level of charging a service fee. The food is overpriced, flavorless, and inconsistent from plate to plate. The service is nonexistent and the attitudes of the staff are poor. I would not waste my time, money, or positive energy at this place. They really need to do better.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place, I didn't give it five stars cause I think the service could be a lot better. The ambiance is amazing it definitely feels like you're in a whole new place and the food makes up for the service. You wait to get seated when you first walk in, then you'll scan the QR code to order. Once you pay through your phone; the food starts arriving to your table. I like the efficiency.

Yelp
So the ambiance is pretty good. It seems like it's more authentic than American eyes and that's actually pretty cool as well. They have an outside and an inside area. There are several tables on the outside so it's not like it's a full area but it is covered so it's not like it's fully out and you have shade. Will you command the spot isn't super big but it's big enough. They have things that you can buy that are like souvenir type items. Kind of like a Thai cracker barrel if that makes any sense. If you look on one side there is a bar area, if you look on the other side that's where all of the other tables are on the inside. How the service works is you sit at the table after you're seated and you order off of a phone. They'll come bring you water, and silverware, but you're going to order on your phone and they'll bring it to the table after that. There's a little device that you can use to contact it with me B but it's not like they take your order. That's the different part about this place. But the server that was at the table I was sitting at was very nice and pleasant even though she only came to drop off a few things. So it's limited communication but that's not the end of the world, not at all. I ordered the drunken Noodle (with chicken), moo tord (pork belly), and gyo tord (crispy wonton). Now the wonton was good, they had a sweet and sour sauce type of situation that was actually pretty tasty. The pork belly was pretty good as well, it may have been quite a little bit too hard but I think that might have been by design. A couple times it gave me the Captain crunch kind of vibe when it kind of cut the roof my mouth a little bit. I may be getting a little bit, but only a little bit. The sauce I came with it was actually pretty good though. The drunken noodle was decent. I thought it had a good flavor, though the noodles were a little bit mushy. That was the only drawback that I tell. But it was season, the chicken was tender, and it had a lot of vegetables in it. I will go back, I would try maybe a different dish, but I would still go back just to give it another try. I feel like whether it's Americanized or not, The drunken noodle is kind of across the board, kind of like pad Thai. So I wanted to try that before I tried anything else.

Yelp
I had the Pad Kee-Mao (drunken noodle) which was fine, until my friend put some of it on his plate, and then noticed a dead bug in the food. Which is not great, but whatever, it happens. When we pointed it out to the server though, we did not really get a serious apology, but instead just an inquiry if we wanted to send it back (yes) and get new food. No offer of free food and no apology from the manager. That makes me wonder how often dead bugs are found in the food at this restaurant.

Yelp
Best Thai food I've had in a long, long time in the states! It feels like a real Thai spot, not Americanized or fancified, just like being back in Thailand. I had a perfect dinner here with my Thai relatives when I visited them in Georgia.

Yelp
Overall 5/5: Located next to City Farmers Market, in the plaza behind Food terminal. We've been wanting to try Tum Pok Pok for quite awhile and finally got around to it. Drinks 5/5: I went for a refreshing thai coffee and my friend had the nom yen (pink milk). The pink milk tasted like childhood! It was so yummy. Food 5/5: Because it was our first time, we tried an extensive amount of food. It was super affordable, great prices and good food. We tried the Isan Sausage, the beef jerky, papaya salad, crispy pork belly, grilled calamari. These all paired really well together. Love all of these dishes with papaya salad. We also tried the seafood fried rice, coconut soup with chicken, and the num tok. All were amazing, but the small plates with papaya salad were my favorite. Service 5/5: Very fast, food came out hot and timely. Great for a quick lunch. You order from your phone through a QR code which is nice and easy. Good and easy to use platform. Friendly service as well. Ambiance 5/5: We enjoyed the decor and music in there it was casual, but clean and nice. There is ample parking in the lot it's located it. Thank you, Tum Pok Pok!
