Was excited to try Tumble 22 since I've seen them around town and have heard promising things. We drove up to the Round Rock location since it looked newer, but the inside itself is pretty small (max capacity is 85 people). Since we dropped in on a Saturday during rush dinner hour, there was a little bit of a wait, but it went by quickly and we ultimately ended up sitting at the bar top.
OVERVIEW: I'd give this a 3-3.5/5. The food was good and at a fair price point, but the chicken wasn't the best I've ever had. Pretty basic, and if you get anything white meat it's (naturally) a bit dry. I felt like it lacked flavor, though the heat levels are good variety.
QUICK FACTS:
- Parking? Yes, a standard lot.
- Reservations? No, not needed.
- Online ordering/delivery/takeout? Yes, via their website or partnered delivery services.
FOOD RATINGS:
- Deviled eggs (3/5): Sort of odd they give you 5, they should just give you 6 for an even number of eggs. Flavor was solid but simple and basic - nothing special. Nicely filled and perfectly cooked.
- Dirty fries (5/5): This was probably my favorite thing we ordered. I love the crispy, skinny, salty fries, and the queso and pulled chicken was awesome. Tasty and filling!
- The Southern (4/5): The only dark meat sandwich option, and it was great. The bun was really good, too. Sort of like Hawaiian sweet bread. Mac and cheese tasted like Luby's. Nothing crazy.
- Cobb salad (3/5): The pros are this comes loaded with stuff, including avocado and deviled eggs. The ranch dressing was bland, though. It was almost like the salad needed salt and pepper, as it lacked overall a great salad flavor. The chicken tenders were good.
