Meherwan Irani Wants to Change Stereotypes About the South, Starting With Dinner | Bon Appétit

"A traveling dinner series that consciously bridges the American South and South Asian cooking, staging communal meals and guided conversations that reframe Southern identity as inclusive. Dinners pair inventive fusion dishes—platters of craggy fried chicken inspired by goat karee, turmeric-tinged tomato hand pies, pickled watermelon rinds, coconut-oil fried chicken with a hint of garam masala, shrimp-and-grits prepared upma-style, tomato pie, and spiced butternut squash soup—with Q&As that coax guests into deeper discussions about what it means to be a Southerner and to be brown in the South. Events draw a broad crowd of chefs, writers, and locals (about 130 attendees at one dinner), aim to amplify immigrant chefs in the deep South, and are intentionally taken on the road to spark community dialogue and change." - ByElyse Inamine

EAT HERE! AMAZING FOOD, DRINKS, AND SERVICE BY SAMANTHA!! We are here on vacation and were just driving through town and googled great places to eat. Tupelo came right up! We were not disappointed! They allowed us to bring a small dog onto the patio area and for that we are grateful! I had chicken fingers with crispy potatoes! See pic! DELICIOUS! And my friend had the chicken sandwich with bacon and a side of onion rings. See pic! The chicken was so good with lots of crunchies! The bun so fresh! We also ordered the crispy Brussels! The best we ever had! The crispy potatoes were the best thing Samantha recommended! Fresh watermelon lemonade sealed our great meal! Samantha, our waitress was so attentive and gave us the best recommendations when we couldn't decide what to order. She was spot on and was the best waitress ever! Always checking on us to make sure we were doing okay! ❤️ this place! Compliments to the chef and our cooks! Our meal was fabulous!

Google
Omg! Hands down the best food I've had in a very long time. Next time I'm in North Carolina I'm definitely coming back!! Stopped by here with a group after working with Habitat for Humanity over the week and it was recommended by a few people in the area. Definitely worth recommending.

Google
I think it's well established Tupelo has amazing food. This has been on my list try to as it's been recommended in the NC area by multiple people. They did not disappoint!! They may keep their reputation as purveyors of really good comfort food. I had the smothered chicken and biscuits. There really is nothing else that I would start with! My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both of us were happy! Friends of ours had shrimp and grits, which they allowed us to try, and the grits had really good flavor. The pimento queso was a must try. How does one pass on anything pimento cheese when in the Carolinas? Of course I would come back.

Google
Excellent food and service. I have tried the other location, but this one has the best flavors. I had tried several restaurants around Asheville, but by far, it is the best in this area of North Carolina. Excellent combination of flavors. I really will come back. Our waitress Samantha was excellent. They have free parking!

Google
The food was delicious! Their fried pickles was the best I have ever had. The staff was very nice and polite. They even helped each other to make sure your experience was great. When return to Asheville, I will definitely be going back for dinner.

Google
Love this place. My go to for weekend breakfast and drinks. The food is good, people are amazing, and the drinks are fire. Definitely a spot to check out in Asheville. The patio is covered but open air, nice for them summer days. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. Make sure you tip well.

Google
We had such a lovely time at Tupelo Honey!! The service was perfect, food was perfect, the atmosphere was perfect. We brought our two dogs and sat on the covered patio, and they had a dog menu which was so precious!! The homemade soda is so delicious, especially the blueberry lavender one. We ordered fried chicken, sweet tea chicken sandwich, biscuits, and fried pickles. All so so so delicious!!! Definitely recommend!!!

Google
Smashburger was really good, but there was a bit TOO much of the "gravy". It seemed to mostly be onions, but it was very good. Server was excellent. There were 7 of us on separate checks, and he did a great job taking care of us. We were definitely disappointed with the size of the "mini" banana pudding, as it was half price for far less than 1/4 of the product. If it's intended for kids, that's fine, but label and price it accordingly.

Yelp
Excellent start to the day Bloody Mary and Great Breakfast - Our Server was Lovely Diamond, she was very good and attentive - located in the corner of a quiet, peaceful area. We set outside and enjoyed the nature - TNT Thumbs Up

Yelp
The restaurant's atmosphere is inviting, with attentive staff and ample parking, making it a convenient choice for those seeking authentic Southern cuisine. Chicken is delicious. Overall, Tupelo Honey's South Asheville location is a must-visit for anyone craving Southern comfort food, I've had the steak and eggs as well as an omelette. Wonderful flavors and presentation.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
The kindest staff, the most delicious comfort food, and an amazing menu to choose from. Every time I visit, the biscuits for a cause are a must--that blueberry jam is delectable. Any chicken-and-waffles combo is a win. Give the mac-n-cheese waffles with hot chicken a try...it sounds crazy, but the flavors are wonderful! If you go at lunch, the 1/2 and 1/2 combo is a good deal for some high-quality food. A trip at Tupelo Honey isn't complete without some banana pudding. Tupelo Honey has a rewards program. They also take reservations, which can definitely be helpful for planning a special meal.

Yelp
We got in for a quick lunch, hostess was sweet. Waiter was nice. Atmosphere was perfect. Like a little country house. The patio was beautiful. Menu is a good size. Fiancé and one kid had chicken tenders and the chicken was slightly spicy. Mac and cheese is a cheesy mac and cheese. Not a baked one. Not a bad thing but not my style. One child had a burger and had no complaints. I tried a cold brew, nothing special. It was good. I also had the sweet spicy chicken and waffles. They were good but the whole meal was around $65-70 dollars. Personal not worth the hype.
google avatar

Jodi T.

Yelp
We ordered 2 things. The tomato soup was delicious!.. The chicken sandwich had no flavor or seasoning whatsoever and was dry. Even the sweet spicy sauce and ranch on the side didn't help. Quite disappointed

Yelp
The food was amazing. Tupelo honey is one of my favorite random finds. My concerns are with the server we had. Not sure her name, she was a taller, broad, dirty blonde woman. She was extremely short with us, never introduced herself, and when we asked her a simple question about swapping the watery banana pudding dessert, she was condescending and talked over us. She asked us to go get our "moms" card multiple times instead of listening, we are all 22 years old? Just really rude and condescending. She clearly had a few struggles going on, maybe being mean on top of them isn't such a great look.
google avatar

Yelp
Tupelo Honey serves a wide array of breakfast, lunch and dinner items with a Southern flair. The restaurant's interior feels like a warm breakfast sunroom in a beautiful southern house. The food is delicious, and I guarantee you won't leave the restaurant hungry. The portion sizes are very generous. The staff is accommodating, friendly, and willing to answer any questions. There was a little mix-up with my order, but the waitstaff fixed the problem quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. p.s. Be sure to check out the water glasses. Each of them has a clever saying that will make you chuckle. I wish they sold them for customers to take home.

Yelp
Love the food!! I highly recommend and I will be sure to make a stop the next time I'm in town! The food was flavorful and just good overall! We went for brunch. Cool spot for a casual date! No pressure, relaxed atmosphere. The server was knowledgeable and spot-on with his recommendations. I didn't get his name but he was a bubbly guy with locs

Yelp
On recommendation from a friend, we had a tasty experience at Tupelo Honey. Started the meal with a mimosa flight which was lovely - really unique flavors including the new strawberries and cream which was my favorite followed by the blueberry lavender. My husband had the shrimp and grits on recommendations from the server which he liked but wasn't thrilled with. He's had better at some other spots. The flavor was lacking. I had the avocado Benedict which I really enjoyed - super crispy and crunchy potatoes, a fresh biscuit and avocado, perfectly poached eggs. Would definitely order again. I give the place a 5 because the ambience, indoor outdoor seating is beautiful, really cool bar area as well. Service was really friendly.

Yelp
We visited for brunch while in Asheville on recommendations from friends and enjoyed our meal! The restaurant had a great laid back vibe with fun decor. Staff was all friendly and helpful, patient with our questions. We had a veggie and grains bowl that had great flavor and a huge portion; a po'boy that met all our expectations; chicken strips coated with potato chips accompanied by a trio of dips were a fun spin on a classic dish; and chicken and waffles and mac & cheese had good flavor and a creative approach with the pickles and sauce, but wish it had more mac & creamy cheese as it got lost a bit in the dish. The cold brew and turmeric ginger drinks also got great reviews. We would definitely recommend

Yelp
Made reservations and ended up at the wrong location. This location was not as busy as downtown I'm sure but the service was outstanding. We got there exactly at 9am when they opened. They did not have enough waffle mix for our order yet so we got the fried green tomatoes which was excellent. It came with goat cheese grits, I asked for it in the side, and a tomato based sauce. It was crunchy and fresh! We ordered our chicken and waffles, the original and the sirracha. After we had the tomatoes we could have shared a waffle order. It was very good. Madds was an outstanding waitress and I would visit this location if in the area. Very family friendly and casual.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the brunch here, it was quite nice. I've been coming to Tupelo Honey since it was just the one restaurant in downtown, they continue to have great food, no matter how many new spots open up. There's something for everyone here. The staff is always kind and attentive. They have fantastic cocktails for breakfast/brunch and it's a great spot to bring a group. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The waitress was so incredibly friendly at this location we loved her! The restaurant is airy and light feeling clean and cute. It's demure it's mindful. The sandwich I had was so good it was simple and usually comes with cheese but even without I really enjoyed the flavor. The fries were crispy and fluffy and full of flavor. I really enjoyed my meal here!

Yelp
Great menu with fantastic food. Good ambience and presentation. Definitely replaced to add to your brunch rotation.

Yelp
Prompt service. Sat down quickly. Three different chicken and waffle dishes. All so good. Good diner build out.

Yelp
My partner and I stopped in for dinner at 6:30 Friday evening. Had reservation but wasn't needed. Nick was our server and went all out to insure we had a great dining experience. Brussel sprouts appetizer has a delicious new dipping sauce. Can also get sprouts as a side but served differently I was told. I always enjoy the meatloaf, pork and shrimp/grits. This time it was meatloaf dinner with two sides, crispy french fries and mac/cheese. Other dish was arugula salad with steak. Everything was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was quiet; surprised to see the bar and adjacent top seats empty.

Yelp
You just can't go wrong with Tupelo, regardless of the location. I love that you can make reservation here and are seated promptly. Food is always great, and the variety of drinks can satisfy anyone's taste buds. There is both outdoor and indoor seating at this location. The outdoor areas are mostly shaded with a few tables near the end of the canopy getting direct sunlight at a certain angle. Service is efficient, and waiters are attentive with water refills. Would be back here again!

Yelp
I have to say I was underwhelmed with this meal. Was traveling through the area and had heard about this spot and wanted to try it. Came in for lunch and was able to seat our large party. Fir a starter we tried the friend pickles, which were delicious. It helps that it came with home made ranch. For my meal I couldn't decided but got the half hot chicken sandwich at the recommendation of the waiter, who was very friendly and southern. The chicken sandwich was good, nothing wrong, just didn't blow me away. I also am not a huge heat guy, but didn't think it was spicy at all. I got the grits too to try. Grits were were good, I'd get them again, but not amazing like I was hoping for. Next time I would maybe do a grits bowl like I was considering this time. And then I tried the gumbo, which to me, really missed the mark. It was more if a beef stew with a scoop of rice. All in all, it was alright, was just expecting more. Maybe I just didn't get the right thing.

Yelp
We were in town for a bachelorette trip and had brunch here! We made a reservation for our group and the staff were very accommodating of our number (about 10 people). Our server was great! Our drinks orders were taken quickly and all mimosa flights and bloody Mary's came out quickly! Our bride had a food allergy that our server was made aware of and they did such a great job accommodating us. Everyone loved their meals! I had the Mountain Morning Bowl with egg whites and it was delicious. I honestly think about the goat cheese grits and how great they are like once a week. Not pictured: the extra biscuits that I ordered and devoured to cure my hangover (lol). The jam and the biscuits were so yummy. The restaurant is decorated very cute! I love the farmhouse-esque decor and the patio area is adorable. The restaurant was extremely clean and well-maintained, as well.

Yelp
We visited on recommendation from friends. It's definitely a popular place, even on a Tuesday morning! There were several people who arrived before opening. Service was great. We ordered brunch - we had the Brussel Sprouts; they were served in a tomato base with large chunks of goat cheese and roasted to a nice soft texture with a good crisp, the best we've had on our trip. My husband had the shrimp and grits & I had the grilled chicken on a GF bun with pumpkin bisque. All of the food was great! I also ordered an apple cider donut mimosa - it was so good! This is a great spot for a meal and I would most definitely frequent if I were local.

Yelp
This was our first stop on our girls trip in Asheville. The food was amazing. I got a Bloody Mary with a piece of bacon and okra (welcome to the south ). I ordered the avocado toast with eggs and pickled onions. My friend got eggs toast delicious rosemary potatoes. Jack was our server and he was 10/10. He talked with us about the area and all the great places to eat drink and listen to music. Jack made our day!!!

Yelp
Great staff! They are very hospitable. The food is great! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Staff is great! Very Attentive service. We go there at least every nice a month.

Yelp
Take out order if of Honey Dusted Chicken with Mac& cheese. 1. Ordered a tea on phone, wasn't communicated ... and ended up being charged when I got there for the tea. Extremely bias dissatisfaction. 2. Chicken was "Ok". I have had Tupelo honey in multiple states and it's usually not a letdown. Chicken was dry. Wanted dark meat... got white meat.. flavor just wasn't there. I would give it a 6/10. 3. As far as waiting on food. I'm a very punctual person. Added to paint the picture that I called my order in 25-30 minutes before I arrived. Still waited around.. 15-20 minutes, at that rate I should have sat down. 4. Sweat tea had dish soap taste because container had to have been poorly rinsed. Also.. 12oz of tea for nearly 4$... I mean ... --- lastly Who ever is the greeter... you have to have personality. Some flavor, charisma... you can't be dull. You set the tone. Remember that! That's it as far as service. People seemed happy in there though so I guess vibe was nice lol. Overall I would give my experience a 5/10. 6.5/10 for chicken. 3.5/ 10 for 3$ sweet tea. -- Would not be back at this location.

Yelp
Looks yummy... let's see... Wow, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was awesome and so nice. What a great first visit and a definite recommend. Oh and the Proverb Pinot Grigio wine was so light and smooth. I loved it all!!

Yelp
Tupelo Honey is a place I've been to a few times over the years, both the downtown Asheville location which is the original, and this southside location which is closer to Hendersonville. This location is more spacious and easier to get a table at, but in my experience, the food downtown is a little better. On this particular occasion, we had a bigger group, so this was definitely the better choice. It was a busy day, as I think it often is here. The restaurant felt pretty hectic though, and we soon learned they were out of a few menu items and the soda fountain was also busted. Yikes! Didn't bother me as a tea drinker, but certainly tripped up plenty of other people. Our waitress did an OK job serving our large party, but we did have our share of struggles getting things. On one occasion, I just got up and got my own tea refill. Wasn't for lack of her trying, they just seemed short staffed, kind of common these days. I understand. No stars off for that. The food was pretty good, most people were happy with their dish. I ordered a nashville hot chicken and waffles thing. The only issue I had with it, is that the menu made it sound like the waffles were actually being made by pressing mac n cheese into a waffle iron (something I've seen elsewhere). Turns out, they were standard waffles, topped with some mac n cheese and the other accoutrements. While that wasn't a dealbreaker for me, I was really wanting that mac and not as much on board with waffles. In the end, I ate most of it, and was fairly satisfied. Fairly satisfied. I think that is the theme of this review. We would go back again, but, in a town with so many great foods like Asheville, it won't be a priority!

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my boyfriend while we were visiting Asheville. It was super crowded for a weekday morning! Service was okay, but you could tell the waiter was very overwhelmed. We felt bad asking for anything. The drinks were a little too sweet for our taste, but we are talking about being in the south! The shrimp and grits were really good, and we liked the chicken and waffles as well. Overall a solid brunch !
google avatar

Tramaine S.

Yelp
Great staff. Solid cocktails. Chicken and Waffles with Brûlée'd Banana Pudding was amazing; original version was also very good and Biscuits were great!
google avatar

Yelp
Delightful! Visiting the area from Los Angeles- Originally from Mississippi and craving some comfort food! The Shrimp and Grits was the reason I chose this place but everything was good! Fried pickles- thinly sliced/ hot and crispy Crackling potatoes- all the bacon and pimento cheese YASSS please! Shrimp and Grits- could barely finish it., love the chorizo take on it Sweet and Spicy fried Chicken- my brother was surprised by the spicy but he said it was good Fried chicken sandwich- sis in law liked Banana pudding- like really how could we have room for this BUT how could we not. We got a tiny one and all had a bite- definitely worth feeling stuffed.
google avatar

Yelp
Started with a Mimosa and Spicy Bloody Mary for brunch. Both were perfect! Roast Beef Benedict New Orleans style. Next time, I will order biscuit on the side. Hollandaise was lemony, and consistency was perfect. Roast beef was full of flavor and very tender, but not much of it needed more on the plate. The fried chicken is a brined and not over seasoned. As you can see from the photos not over breaded either. Crispy crispy crispy! Juicy and tender. Couldn't be better. The pickles and pickled onions were addictive. The potato crackling was so crispy and seasoned perfectly too just wish it was broken into smaller pieces. Clean, friendly and very welcoming. We chose to sit at the bar. Super friendly and helpful. Will be back!!

Yelp
Brunch today was great! They were busy, but we still got the southern hospitality experience. Our server was very helpful when we asked questions and very attentive even while we were eating. I got the Asheville Hot Chicken and Mac and Cheese waffles and my wife for a grilled chicken BLT. Both were great. The chicken and waffles has this Sriracha honey sauce and their house made ranch for the perfect balance of spice and cool ranch. The Mac and cheese waffles were the perfect compliment. Definitely worth the calories! Overall a great meal at a charming southern eatery!

Lee Ann P.

Yelp
Great food, easy parking. Wait staff was attentive. Nice to not have to go all the way into Asheville when looking for chicken and waffles.
google avatar

Ava G.

Yelp
LOVE THOSE POTATOES! I came for breakfast. The menu was small, and they were out of chicken, which half of items consisted of and is what I was looking forward to. Either way, the dishes we got were all great! I especially love the rosemary potato cracklins! I could eat a whole plate of those. My dad enjoyed his skillet but wished it came with potatoes or hash browns, because it was missing something. Service was very good! I'll definitely return another time, especially to try their dinner options.
google avatar

Chelsea F.

Yelp
This is a popular spot in Asheville for a reason! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun, the location is centered in the heart of local shops. We ordered the... - Fried Green Tomatoes; highly highly recommend! - Chicken & Waffles; has a kick to it, loved the sweet & spicy combo
google avatar

Lucy F.

Yelp
Can't wait to go again! We went to lunch on a Friday (we're from out of town so forgive me if this is widely known) but there was live music happening on the patio and all over walking. So the sax music in the background was a major added bonus. The ginger turmeric tonic drink was delightful and beyond refreshing. Def give it a try! Of course we biscuits, delish, my friends said the jam was tasty (I generally skip out on jam which is a me problem), I thought they tasted great with the whipped butter. The biscuit as soft but that good crispy/hardness on the outside - great job! Beyond pumped that I gave the Asheville hot chicken & ranch let a try because it was out of this world! The surprise of the dish was how perfectly toasted the Texas toast was and how much I enjoyed it. The buttermilk ranch was portionally done well, sometimes I want more sauce but they did a great job on their own. Did a sandwich split with a friend so also got the Whiskey & onion smash burger - holy burger Batman! The creamy gravy, probably could have drank it on its own it was soooo good. My only regret was not getting fries as a vehicle for more of the sauce. Best side hands down that we got at the table was the crispy potatoes and brussel sprouts. Service - sssssuuuuupppper friendly and gave honest opinions. Felt like they were talking as friends on suggestions which was nice!

Yelp
Went around 11 for early lunch downtown. Service was prompt. I ate at the bar. The server was very helpful and attentive throughout my whole experience. I had a smothered chicken and biscuit with an egg on top. It was delicious. It was a generous portion and quite tasty. Great experience. I will return.
google avatar

Kalynn C.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing. We flew in, came straight here and had such great service and food. I feel terrible that I can't remember the guy's name who served us but he was a beyond sweet and helped us with recommendations.
google avatar

Mishi V.

Yelp
Pros: Free parking Fast service Massive portions Delicious fried green tomatoes Heavenly biscuits Clean restrooms Good value for quality food Thoughtful drinks Nice decor Cons: Not enough locations on the west coast :,(

Courtney S.

Yelp
Not very busy. And we waited for more than 50 min for the food. After ordered. Eventually we told them just pack ours Togo. Appetizer came out quickly. Then we just sat and sat and sat. I understand kitchen can be behind. BUT not our waiter. NOT the manager. Not one, came to check in and let us know it's going to be a little longer. Or anyone was behind. Just left us sitting. And waiting. Never once
google avatar

Caroline J.

Yelp
Delicious dinner with nice customer service! First night in the area and this restaurant did not disappoint. Started with their biscuits and they were hot, fresh, and huge. Jam and honey were yummy. My husband had the meatloaf patty melt and loved it with the Mac and cheese as his side. I had the shrimp and grits and they were absolutely delicious! Great flavor! We liked our food so much that we want to come back for breakfast to try their breakfast menu.
google avatar

Pablo V.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Staff is great. We had the chicken & waffles and the famous bone in chicken. The biscuits with blueberry jam is phenomenal! I Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Close to not visiting anymore due to its canned chain sterility like a First Watch. No personality. Lacks the Indy, gritty feel of a true dive. Just because a fat server has blue hair doesn't make it gritty.
google avatar

Lavinna K.

Yelp
I have missed this restaurant!!! There was one in Atlanta and while we liked it...it was not the same. The one in Atlanta closed so when we came to Asheville we had to come here. The service and the food was so much better than I remembered!!! We got the chicken and waffle with the siracha on the side. The fried green tomatoes and the two eggs and potatoes breakfast. Everything was delicious. We were starving so no one took pictures.
google avatar

PJ B.

Yelp
We had smothered chicken (one had thighs, one had breasts). Side: Parmesan potatoes, broccolini, chicken tortilla soup, red beans and rice. (Also got gravy in the side). Gravy was a nice complement to this chicken, broccolini was fresh, the potatoes weren't what I expected, but SO good (not healthy at all, but when you're eating fried chicken...) All good!

Jennie G.

Yelp
This Tupelo honey location has been feeding Helene victims all week. The statistics of meals served are in the photo. They were able to reopen this morning with a limited menu after getting cleared by the Department of Health. Can't say enough good things about the staff, the service and that very, very, very good hot chicken and cheese sandwich. And I think the grits taste better in the paper bowl. Go support them. Now! And you can donate to WNC Helene efforts on their main website.

Yelp
I've not eaten at Tupelo Honey since before the beginning of the Covid fiasco. I was looking forward to my visit, but when I walked in, everything had changed. I did not recognize it. Instead of the Boho style design, it was a commercial look that was not warm or welcoming. We asked to be seated on the patio. (We were not walk ins, we had reservations). We were told all tables had been reserved. (When we finished our dinner, there was still ample room on the patio that could have accommodated our party of four.) We were seated and given our menus. The offerings had definitely changed. Nothing grabbed my attention so I ordered the regular chicken and waffles. The waffles were perfect. The chicken was however tasteless and dry. Needless to say I did not finish it. One of the entrées ordered was Brussells sprouts. Our party member who ordered them loves Brussels sprouts but could not eat them all because they were overcooked. Our server was inattentive and overall, a less than average experience.

C R.

Yelp
The food, atmosphere and staff are a 5/5. The mimosa flight was nice for two people and the egg white omelette and potatoes were to absolutely amazing.

Warner B.

Yelp
For the record, I dined at this Tupelo Honey years ago (2010) and was very impressed. Was in town on a quick few hour business trip and decided it was worth going to again after my past experience. Unfortunately this visit didn't meet expectations. We were seated promptly, and our server was engaged and knowledgeable. We ordered biscuits and fried pickles as appetizers. These came out promptly, and we ordered our entrees at this time. These entrees were brought to the table a full hour after ordered. Making it a full hour and twenty minutes after being seated. Was it lunchtime? Yes. Was the restaurant only half full? Also yes. There was a large-ish party on the patio, but no party should have to wait this long for their meal. To conclude, server was great, food was quality and ambiance was good. Kitchen really dropped the ball today. Unfortunate.

Yelp
I love the brunch. Our favorite brunch spot I love that they take reservations so we have a table after church

Yelp
If I could write two different reviews for the different locations, I would. The downtown location was significantly better. I highly recommend all of their fun and funky drinks. And get the biscuits! As a matter of fact, get extra, so you can have some the next day. As far as service, Abby was amazing, Iris not so good... the bartender makes great drinks! A few of us got fried chicken and it was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bathrooms were clean and the overall restaurant was fun and down home feeling.
