Best Brunch Restaurants in Raleigh, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Asheville’s famed Tupelo Honey Cafe has a Raleigh location and serves brunch all day long, with the big draw being the fried chicken (with or without waffles). There is also a sweet and spicy chicken biscuit (sweet and spicy fried chicken, fresh peach coleslaw, milk gravy), and and Old Skool breakfast bowl with two fried eggs, parmesan and rosemary potato cracklings, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, salsa, roasted red pepper sauce, and heirloom grits with goat cheese. Truly hungry diners head for the Shoo Mercy, a high stack of pancakes with honey dusted fried chicken, two fried eggs, apple cider bacon, and spiced pecans." - Matt Lardie

Google
We had an amazing dining experience at Tupelo Honey in Raleigh! Our waitress, Katrina, was exceptional! She was attentive, friendly, and spot-on with her recommendations. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and comforting. The lavender lemonade transported me back to summers in England, strolling through the lavender fields. I also grabbed the sweet potato pancakes to go, and I can’t wait to try them! My husband enjoyed the chicken BLT with potato skins, while my son had crispy chicken tenders with onion rings, and my daughter loved her mac and cheese with fried okra. Everything was well-prepared and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Great brunch spot in Raleigh. The food never disappoints and the servers are all friendly. Plan to spend about an hour here but it’s worth it with the drinks and food options. The shrimp and grits were so flavorful and the chicken had a kick but a sweet flavor. The appetizers were so yummy. We’ve never got a dish we did not like here. The mega mimosas are also delicious and even though they are pricey the regular mimosa isn’t much cheaper so I go with the larger option.

This is an all around great restaurant. The atmosphere is genuinely beautiful; the decor is cool and vintage. The service is top tier. They make good recommendations, they’re quick and informative. The food is always delicious, it’s fresh and hot. I will be a regular for sure, we’ve been here twice and it never disappoints!

My friends and I came here while on vacation from Ohio. We went there around 4 pm on a Wednesday and it wasn't busy at all. It was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. We had friend okra, fried green tomatoes, biscuits, pan seared salmon, chicken tenders, as well as chicken and waffles. With the exception of the rosemary parmesean potatoes (good flavor but a bit too salty), all the food was good. I would highly recommend their lemonade as we tried the peach and matcha flavors. Shout out to our server Tate who did an excellent job serving us! For my fellow cup lovers: You can buy their glass cups if you ask 😉

Google
Phenomenal experiences we had here. The atmosphere was amazing and smell good and clean. The waitress was very friendly and polite and knew what she was doing, when asked about the food. I wanted to tried the shrimps and grits my husband got the waffle and chicken. The food was spectacular the flavor for me was an explosion in my mouth. It was awesome most definitely will be coming back to Tupelo Honey when I visit NC again.

Google
We had a fun experience at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen. The food was good and the menu had a fun twist on a lot of the items. Overall, everything was delicious and we'd give it another try. The waffles were light and airy and didn't get soggy under the fried chicken. The smash Burger was another winner. The meatloaf, however was subpar but the script potatoes saved the day.

Google
Lovely dining experience for tasty Southern eats. We like meeting and taking friends here, for the nice atmosphere and well-plated dishes. Service is always great, and you can never go wrong with the biscuits and desserts.

Google
Biscuits For A Cause were so fresh and delicious you can taste that they are homemade. Add the whipped butter and grape jelly puts them over the top!! Honey White Meat - Fried Chicken made the crust sweet with a little bite of spice. Also kept the meat nice and moist. Got 5 little crispy potatoes that were WAY too salty. The food was fresh and delicious but the small portion sizes will make me think twice before ordering. $30.00 is a lot for what I received and compared to all the southern fried chicken competition in the area. • 2025-03-18 Biscuits For A Cause are so fresh and amazing that they keep me ordering from this location!! Chicken Caesar Salad was good but it seemed small for the price compared to the competition. Caesar dressing was very salty. Ease up on the salt guys…..

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic- I was in town this weekend for Dreamville and my bestfriend and I stopped here for happy hour and some food. Let's start with our server, Hannah. The sweetest peach to ever exist. She was so personable and knowledgeable and we loved every recommendation she gave us. We got the Brussels sprouts and fried pickles to start. I am not lying when I say I have been thinking about those Brussels sprouts since we left the restaurant Friday night (and today is Monday lol). I don't know how else to explain them besides absolutely fantastic. Truly the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had in my life. The fried pickles were also super yum! They were a lot thinner than I anticipated so gave more of a fried pickle "chip" vibe but that was okay because they have the best crunch. We tried a few drinks- Peach don't kill my vibe, so fresh & so green green, and I THINK the citrus got real. But it was purple and delicious haha. The so fresh and so green green was just that- so fresh! It reminds me of a drink I had on a carnival cruise a few years back that used fresh cucumber. For entrees we both got the shrimp & chicken gumbo. I will say the flavor here seemed a bit one note to me. Don't get me wrong, it WAS good but, for gumbo I expected some deep flavors that bounced off my tongue and I just didn't get that. Still delicious either way but I wanted a bit more from the gumbo personally. My bestfriend thought it was absolutely fantastic. All that to say: this was an absolutely fantastic experience (and part had to do with Hannah being so amazing!). I just found out there's a location in Virginia not too far from me. I hope that location meets the expectations I have from visiting the one here in Raleigh!

Yelp
I had a very nice brunch with friends at Tupelo today. We ordered the pimento cheese starter, which was very good. The tortilla chips are dusted with an interesting spice mixture, which was a nice touch. I also had a great Bloody Mary (see picture) and then the traditional breakfast with a side of gluten-free toast. Everything was good, and the service was excellent. I know this is a strange thing to comment on, but the toast was one of my favorite things. Usually, gf bread is puny and tasteless. I actually had to check with the waiter if it was really gf because it looked and tasted fluffy. I need to know the brand they use or if it is house-made because I need more of it in my life! The reasons for a four instead of five review were that the tables were a little crowded together, so people at the next table over kept bumping me when they for up. Also, the menu items are a bit pricey for what you get. I'll be back, though, for the gf bread and Queen Mary.

Yelp
Our group dropped by Tupelo's for a great Southern breakfast. We got the deep fried green tomatoes to share, which were amazing. The harvest bowl is a good choice if your stomach is craving some veges and something healthier than southern food. Both the chicken of chicken & biscuit and Sriracha chicken were fried to perfection! I will say the biscuits were a little heavy for me personally, but the flavor combinations were quite good. Service was good and the restaurant decor was really sweet and definitely inspired by North Carolina.

Yelp
Food didn't really have much taste was very bland.the service was okay. Even with a reservation we had a wait and even longer for someone to come to the table. The food wasn't really bad just didn't say anything. I couldn't really eat my cb of it bc not only did the chick batter not have seasoning the chicken didn't either. The greens were good tho. Mac n cheese was not flavorful either. Overall if you're gonna use hot sauce on your chicken yes, Mac in cheese needed something-i added black pepper but didn't help much. I drank water so nothing on the drinks however, people in my party loved their drinks. No one was impressed by the food tho.

Yelp
OMG! This was my first time eating here and I'm already planning my next visit. My server Emma was absolutely amazing and kept my glass full the whole time. Food came out quick and was so freakin delicious I almost cussed in this review. The pimento cheese was warm and smooth. Chunky but not bricks of cheese so perfect. The chips are crisp and seasoned so that was just an added bonus. The meatloaf was outstanding! That blend of beef and chorizo just did something to my tastebuds that I can't explain in cause a child reads this. The Mac & cheese was creamy and warm but not overbearing. The collards had perfect seasoning and had a crisp yet easy to chew element like. That meatloaf tho! Sweet baby Jesus and teenage Moses! The glaze is crazy good and the meatloaf itself is delicious and blissfully delightful. The banana pudding just made everything right in the world. Overall this is my new spot if I want to eat close to downtown without all the chaos.

Yelp
I had a good experience and my did was fresh and hot and my waffle was cooked perfectly. But half of the ppl I was with food wasn't hot we were a party of 6 on a Sunday around 2. We were seated almost 30 min after our reservation but we all knew what we wanted when we sat down. Some of our food came out fresh and hot and others didn't. We couldn't complain because we were in town for a festival and had to leave. Our server was nice and the service seemed fast. I did notice that the other employees did not want to be helpful we asked for sipped sauces and syrup to a waiter that brought our food out and he said that we needed to ask our waiter even though he was still bringing our food.

Yelp
Really great dinner, dog friendly, and even a dog menu! The staff was very helpful and the food was delicious.

Yelp
Delicious food! Amazing service from bartender (I think Amy?, I'm aweful with names) I'm not from the area and truely enjoyed! Best food I had while in Raliegh. Fried Tomatoes are a must! Smothered Chicken was great and broccolini. I could have passes and the mac n cheese as it was baked so to dry and stringy for my taste. Biscuits were ok but nothing I would get again.

Yelp
My spouse and I were very disappointed with the food when visiting today. We got the biscuits as an appetizer and they were small, luke warm and unflavorful. Both of our meals were also luke warm which we both had fried chicken. Service was ok and food came out quickly. The price for the food was not worth the quality. We ate our meals out of pure hunger but will not be returning. Unsure why it's always so busy for the quality.

Yelp
We visit the Raleigh location a few times per year and we notice a gradual change in the food seasoning. I chose to give it another shot today for Father's Day but my dinner along with my wife and daughter's was subpar at best. My 6 yr old son did love his cheeseburger. With that said the service was beyond excellent from our waitress to the support staff. Not sure we'll be returning anytime soon.

Yelp
This restaurant isn't very good. I ordered breakfast. I asked for 3 eggs over medium. I got 2 eggs well done no run in the yolk. I asked for bacon cooked to order not crispy. It came crispy and cold. Looks like it was sitting around. The grits were awful. I changed the grits for potatoes and it was an add on charge. We had 8 people in our party and no one's food looked good. Sorry for the rough review but this place needs help.

Yelp
I visited Tupelo Honey for the first time tonight and loved it! Every part of the experience was great, from making the reservation online to demolishing a generous portion of chicken and waffles. Southern food isn't typically my "thing," but I had nothing but positive things to say about my dish and so did everyone else at the table. Though I'd return for the food alone, the ambience is also worth mentioning. It was warm and comforting-- a little on the quiet side, but I enjoyed that, as it allowed our table to have a conversation without having to shout over the music/other diners. We also had two really sweet waitresses who answered all of our questions about the menu. Overall, would absolutely come back.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing brunch spot. I know they offer lunch as well but I have only been for brunch a few times. The biscuits are only $2 and the money goes to a good cause. They are also some of the best biscuits ever. The brunch menu has a variety of options and can be made dairy free or gluten free. The mimosa selection is also very broad, a little on the pricey side for their size but it is nice to have options. I recommend getting reservations for brunch. The inside has a lot of tables but fills up quick. The service is always great and the restaurant is clean. Parking can get hard but they have an overflow lot and Cameron village is a short walk away.

Yelp
I've been to the Tupelo Honey location in Frisco, TX so I was excited to try this location. I know each location may have a different menu or even update their menus from time to time, but this location didn't impress me with the menu. I arrived for Sunday brunch around 12:30 and it was packed. Please do yourself and any guests a favor and MAKE A RESERVATION!!! Even with a reservation, we still had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated which I didn't mind. Additionally, parking around that area can be hard to find, so please allocate a little extra time to park. (I ended up parking at Harris Teeter). The menu was not as exciting as I remember from the TX location. There was plenty to choose from, but it I didn't really see any creativity from the traditional breakfast items that really stood out to me, so I settled for the Asheville fried hot chicken with Mac and cheese waffles. With this dish, there is an actual waffle and a disc of Mac and cheese underneath. The chicken was crispy and fresh and the sauce on top was good. Overall, I wasn't wow'd by the food. (I would recommend putting the leftovers in the air fryer/oven instead of the microwave). I tried both the blueberry lavender and southern hospitality mimosas and it was ok. It was a little warm, but I feel that requesting some ice would've fixed it. You could taste the lavender and peach flavors. The "mega" word is a little deceiving to describe the size of the mimosa, but it wasn't a bad size. Our sever and the hosts/hostesses were all really nice. Overall, not a bad visit but it's not anything memorable. It's a good place if you're looking for a simple breakfast.

Yelp
All the staff are friendly and helpful. They show genuine care for my pet. The veterinarian is always informative about the care and adjustments made to meet my pet needs.

Yelp
The service was great! We went around 4 pm on a Friday and we were the only ones there. The restaurant was decorated cute and clean! The food was great!!! Fried green tomatoes app is my favorite!

Yelp
What can I say about Tupelo Honey that hasn't probably been said. Delicious food, friendly and over the top service, and cool atmosphere. After a very hot and exhausting walk I stumbled into Tupelo and was warmly greeted by the hostess. My phone was on nothing and she offered to charge it for me. And when we found a table near a plug she and the waitresses happily helped me move. I chilled in the corner and worked while taking in the scenery. I love the cool farmhouse feel with pops of blue and dream catchers on the wall. I checked out their menu and there are lots of great options, especially their sides and appetizers! But, I decided to order their original fried chicken with white meat and green beans as my side. The chicken has a touch of honey, which excited me! What also excited me was being able to try the sweet and hot sauce that came with the other chicken. My food came out quickly, so fast! Upon trying the green beans first they were a little flat, but a little salt and pepper helped! Now the chicken--wow! So wishing I would've gotten the half bird as it was crunchy, salty, and sweet all at the same time. Every bite gave me a different flavor and it was so good! The pickles that come with it are delicious as well and so I had to order some more--it was just .50 cent more and they are house made!! So will I be back, oh yes! I want to try their beef and chorizo meatloaf next!

Yelp
I have visited several other Tupelo Honey Restaurants and they were all good experiences. Here's my personal rating; Restaurant setting 3 - Food 3 - service 4 - value for your money 2 - OVERALL RATING 3 These ratings were a bit lenient!

Yelp
Tupelo Honey is undoubtedly a popular and busy place. We were seated 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation despite tables being ready prior to then. The wait was frustrating, but our waitress was kind and we were happy to enjoy a tasty southern style brunch. Our order: Fried green tomatoes: thick and served over some of the best grits we had ever tasted. They were finished with fresh basil and a delicious red pepper sauce. Classic Chicken & Waffles: the chicken was well seasoned, not overly spicy and plenty flavorful. The waffles were pillow soft. Sweet & Spicy Chicken Sandwich: served with a hearty piece of chicken . We had to opt for the grilled for dietary reasons; they are definitely better known for their fried chicken which would have made the sandwich taste better but considering our circumstances it did the job. Each of our entrees was served with a hearty side salad. We loved the lemon dressing and pickled onions. Portion sizes were generous. You will leave full, but don't be surprised if you walk into a wait.

Yelp
Really recommend the buttered noodles for kids If you can't tell by the image, it was really good

Yelp
Great southern fried chicken restaurant with cute honeycomb-themed interior. We got the Biscuits for a Cause, which came with butter and jam. They were super delicious and buttery. For my entree, I ordered fried chicken with waffles and gravy. The chicken was incredibly juicy, and the entire dish captured southern food perfectly. Great experience.

Yelp
First time visiting this location. After it being suggested to me several times I decided to come out and give it a try. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice but the parking is terrible. We had a nice waiter he was young but he honestly ran circles around some of the more seasoned waiters I have had. He made sure to keep the drinks refilled and checked on our table several times. The food was good, a lot of different flavors I never had together before. I would definitely go back again.

Yelp
I've eaten at Tupelo Honey several times but never remember being super impressed until last night. Husband and I went in on a slow Tuesday night and had a seat at the bar. So, unlike other states, NC has a stupid law that restaurants can't lower drink prices for happy hour. So what does Tupelo Honey do? They just give you the happy hour price ALL DAY when you sit in the bar! I ordered a delicious Cheeky Tiki and husband had the Dirty Shirley. We ordered a side of crispy Brussels for an appetizer -- perfectly cooked! For an entree I ordered mahi, goat cheese grits and collards. All three weee fabulous -- lots of flavor, creamy grits. Husband loved his cast iron pork. I tasted it and it was lean but tender, great flavor and a generous portion. Bartender was friendly and service was fast. Will definitely return soon!
google avatar

Vita H.

Yelp
The atmosphere was cool, loved the music that they played. I tried the fried green tomatoes over grits with goat cheese surrounded with a red sauce. Tomato's were firm and the batter was good. Grits were good along with the sauce. Also had the famous fried chicken sweet and spicy with Parmesan cheese and rosemary crispy potatoes. The sauce on the chicken was good. The chicken was juicy. Was wondering if 2 legs and 1thigh would equal a half of chicken I could be wrong. But that was the only negative thing really. Oh well had a large southern hospitality mimosa it was great. The service was good however they could use help. But our waiter was very attentive.

Yelp
In a mostly empty restaurant, we were taken to the back, away from everyone, and seated in the bar area, facing the TVs. We figured we were seated there because the bartender needed to keep busy. All four of us received dishes that were heavy, breaded, greasy, and indifferently prepared. The "smothered" chicken wasn't smothered. It was fried chicken on a few spoonfuls of milk gravy. The single worst thing about the experience was that my shrimp and grits arrived with undercooked shrimp. I thought, NO WAY is that shrimp gray--I must be seeing things. So, I tried to eat it anyway. The grits underneath were probably at least half cheese--very heavy--and the sautéed veggie layer was SWIMMING in pools of grease. After eating less than half, I gave up because it was all too much. I make shrimp and grits at home and have had great shrimp and grits in the south, but that greasy, cheesy mess was NOT okay. My daughter noticed I wasn't eating much and tasted my dish to try it out. The next day, we BOTH were SICK. I had it worse, because I ate more of the undercooked shrimp. I had food poisoning symptoms (you can imagine--I'll spare you the deets), and my daughter had hives--giant, itchy, raised welts all over her body. We both had to get OTC medicine to help with our symptoms. Believe me, that is not the way you want to spend two days of a nine-day vacation. Sick from the food served at a restaurant. We will definitely not be returning to Tupelo Honey and would not recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience!! Jackie was an excellent attentive server. Very knowledgeable! The food was amazing. This was our first time here and it didn't disappoint . I got the chicken and waffle Sriracha honey. Sweet and spicy but too spicy. Everyone else got chicken and waffles, different styles. One had mac & cheese in it, the other one was Original. They were all delicious. The atmosphere was casual and clean. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I went to this establishment on a Sunday meaning it was very busy so I'll try to keep that in mind. The server was very nice and thorough and I wish I could remember her name because she needs to be applauded for the job she did under the circumstances. The setting was typical of newer trendy places in Raleigh. If that look suits you that's where you should go but it doesn't set itself apart from other places in Raleigh and that's disconcerting at times for old heads like myself. Was it comfortable........yes but there's nothing about being there in that seat I occupied that's memorable unless it's the food which brings me to the food. I had the traditional chicken and waffles plate. It was served cold. Not lukewarm.....cold!! I know places can get in a lot of trouble with customers who are served hot menu items and so we should keep in mind the fact it was a crowded brunch time right? I've noticed places that serve waffles usually serve the very thick breaded waffles rarely made from waffle dough that gets poured onto a waffle iron. Waffles made from scratch aren't as thick as what I was served......and do I really need chicken gravy poured over a waffle with a piece of chicken perched on top? For me the answer is no. Leave that on the side in a tumbler along with the even smaller portion of syrup I was given and let the patron decide what they want on their waffle. Oh the chicken like the syrup appeared on the plate almost as an afterthought. The coffee was good however. I really think this business will get better with time. I salute and support local business owners so I encourage folks who see this to go. I hope your experience will be better than mine.

Yelp
Need a reservation if you have a larger party. There were 5 of us. Food was good. Service was great and the overall atmosphere wonderful. Good stop

Yelp
Membership has its privileges! Tupelo's gracious annual $20 birthday credit *will* make you go try some yummy Southern fried cauliflower, y'all. Sides of broccolini and goat cheese grits, and we all got to enjoy a little small-plates-style early dinner. Furthermore, I was able to just order that meal online the night before and arrange pickup. The hostess was so sweet / I called to say I was on the corner but couldn't park (legally) and she just ran the order right out to me like curbside service. An A day for this Asheville institution. Thank you!

Yelp
Service was a 5! Ambience was a 5! Food was a 3.5. Fried chicken was great, I loved the honey seasoning! We ordered the fried chicken plate, one with Mac and cheese and the other with grits and spicy chicken. The sweet tea was good. The fried green tomatoes were nothing to rave home about. Most of the food was exactly average. It was good, just not taste or mind-blowing.

Yelp
Adorable location downtown! Greeting was fantastic as well as the service and food! Servings seemed a bit smaller compared to other locations but overall loved it just as much as always!

Yelp
We love it here, one of our favorite places to come for brunch and the drinks are good too!

Yelp
I cannot wait to go back. The service was great and the honey accents throughout the restaurant were so cute. Everything is a must try but I will say that these by far were the best biscuits I've ever had...and with the blueberry spread *chef's kiss* absolutely delicious. Everything pictured was devoured in record time. Not pictured is the black coffee which was also very good. The grits are in many of the dishes and they're great.

Yelp
Cast Irons & Cocktails Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 3-6pm) at Tupelo Honey is THE BEST deal!! The menu has a great variety of food items & drinks (cocktails & beers) to choose from - all priced at just $5! We drank the Cheeky Tiki and You're Making Me Blush cocktails, which were both prepared well and hit the spot. For food, we got the Asheville hot chicken mac n cheese waffle, crispy brussels, and loaded potato cracklins. That mini chicken & waffle is a MUST! The chicken, topped with ranch and pickles, wasn't overly spicy and was such a delight with the creamy mac and slightly sweet waffle. And for being a "mini" size, the portion was pretty good. I'd also recommend the potato cracklins, which came out hot and crispy with pimento cheese and other goodness on top. Crispy brussels were done right and provided our required veggies. If you're a banana pudding fan, you can't leave without trying their 20-year-old "heavenly banana pudding" recipe. We got the mini version, which was the perfect end to the meal. The whipped cream-topped pudding is sweet, the texture is perfect, and you only need a few bites to feel satisfied. Yelp check-in offers 10% off food, so your already affordable check just got even cheaper. This deal is even sweeter than Tupelo honey.

Yelp
Got our food to go and everything was still delicious. Took a little while because we ordered during a busy weekend, but everything was fresh and hot once we received it. I'm a bread eater, and I really liked their biscuits with a cause

Yelp
Tupelo Honey is a busy place so make reservations if planning to dine here. They have a free lot down the street and there is parking in the garage next door as well. Meh is what I'd call my latest visit here as the food was nothing I'd want again and I even removed myself from the mailing list so I don't want to give it another try. I went with the roast beef debris benedict. The roast beef was good but the biscuit was extremely dry. Then it had a topping that we couldn't figure out what it was. I thought the banana pudding might help to get the disappointing dish off my palate but that was small for the regular size. I'd say the restaurant is overpriced and overrated. There are so many better brunch options.

Yelp
My recent brunch experience left me utterly satisfied, and I'm excited to share my thoughts! Having visited locations in both Texas and North Carolina, I can confidently say that the satisfaction factor has been consistent across the board. Brunch at this spot is an absolute must-try. While the menu might not be the most extensive in the brunch realm, the quality and taste are top-notch. The real star of the show, however, are the drinks. I opted for a mimosa, and boy, were they good--potent yet incredibly flavorful. The portion sizes are massive, guaranteeing you get exceptional value for your money. For my main, I went with the fried chicken Benedict--a new adventure for my taste buds--and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned, and every element of the dish came together beautifully. The generosity of the serving left me with enough for another meal. If you're planning a visit, make sure to book a reservation, as this place is consistently bustling, no matter the location or time. In summary, if you're creating a list of brunch spots to explore, this one should definitely be at the top. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

We stopped in while in town for the Dreamville music festival. We had to park across the street, but it was a close walk. Our service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was nice. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd recommend.

Yelp
This place came HIGHLY recommended from a lot of people so I had to do my due diligence and check it out. We came here for NYE breakfast right when they opened at 9. We did make a reservation and I would definitely suggest that because it got packed really fast. Seated immediately and got right to it. Megan was our server and she was fantastic. The goal of the breakfast was to get lit and the drinks did what needed to be done. I'm from Chicago so brunch culture is HUGE for me and not that big of a thing here in NC when it comes to bottomless beverages so I need a place with solid drinks at a good price point. We started with one of their mimosas and one of their bloody Mary'. STRONG and delicious. Food wise, we ordered the chicken and waffles stuffed with the Mac n cheese and topped with the Asheville chicken along with the shrimp and grits. AMAZING. Those shrimp and grits were by far some of the creamiest grits I have EVER had in my entire life. And I get that fish everywhere I go to find the best one. This is definitely top 2. If I had to make one small suggestion, more of that sauce should be drizzled on the chicken and waffles because it's AMAZING. Overall, we loved the experience and can't wait to come back because everything looked amazing and we need to try more.

Yelp
This Southern food chain, named after a Van Morrison song, has really gone downhill. It was a far better restaurant when there was just one location in Asheville and nowhere else in the nation. I very recently saw a Tupelo Honey in Denver (of all places!). Great song by Van Morrison but everything was way too salty. Grits - too salty. Biscuit - too salty. Soysage - too salty. The only thing that this Southern food chain has going for it is the Hive and Honey Riesling from Greenfield in Monterey County, California. Not too far from the most beautiful place on earth a.k.a. Big Sur. Such a delicious white wine... I love a Central Coast wine from CA. "At first sip, this mouthwatering Riesling charms with aromas of citrus blossom, nectarine and Meyer lemon. Enticing flavors of pear; pineapple and passionfruit play across the palate. Light bodied with crisp acidity, it is balanced by the perfect amount of sweetness and a refreshing fruit finish. Fragrant and delightful, Hive & Honey Riesling enhances any occasion." 34 bucks for the bottle? It's a ten buck bottle. Nice $24 mark-up.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar and I really enjoyed the food! My friend and I split two orders of waffles. My favorite was the Mac-N-Cheese Waffles with Asheville Hot Fried Chicken, which was well seasoned and had mac-n-cheese baked in the waffle. I got the pickles and ranch on the side. The Sriracha Honey Fried Chicken was also good but a little too sweet for my liking. Overall the service was great and I had many refills of the sweet tea. Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Aesthetic: 4/5 Service: 4/5

Yelp
Tupelo has a great environment with a very unique menu. I tried the hot Asheville chicken n waffles and was surprised by its flavors and enjoyed it thoroughly! Service was fantastic and friendly, especially on such a busy night!

Yelp
I brought my friends who were coming from out of town the other day, and we had the best time thanks to our server Olivia. She was so friendly and helpful, which was a great attitude to come to after getting off some long flights.

Yelp
A favorite restaurant for classic southern food with a modern twist. One of my top choices for brunch, have also loved dinner here! Make a reservation if you have a big group or are planning on going during a busy time! Keep an eye out for seasonal changes to the menu as they are typically a delicious surprise!

Yelp
Great brunch of southern specialities - chicken and waffles; Gouda cheese grits with eggs and bacon and sausage; traditional breakfast and breakfast bowl fine. Bloody Mary's ok, mimosas looked better. Good coffee.

Yelp
I enjoyed their lunch special i ordered the avocado and bacon melt half sandwich with the chicken tortilla soup and fries as my side ($15). I really loved the sandwich and tortilla soup. The sauce on the avocado sandwich was good, it made the sandwich tasty. I would not recommend ordering the eggs Benedict if you're used to and English muffin. They serve one of their eggs Benedict with a regular biscuit. Not a fan of that. I don't think I was a fan of it in general. I don't remember which one I ordered it has avocado on it. Anyways the sandwich was delicious, not very busy on a week day during lunch. On the weekends they're packed. Arrive early or set a reservation ahead of time.

Yelp
The Sriracha Honey chicken and waffles were delicious. The Brussels sprouts were just ok.

Yelp
We had a large group, 12 people reservation here. We got several different appetizers to share: fried green tomatoes and fried pickles were my favorite. Our server was amazing. She was super efficient and fast! I got hot sandwich and it was sooo good

Yelp
We had great service and a great experience. The best thing we had was the meatloaf. It was so good. The sweet glaze or gravy with it made it even better. The fried potato side was a nice treat. The fried green tomatoes with grits were special. The breading was done perfectly and didn't fall off when cutting into them. The sriracha honey chicken and waffles was SPICY. The waitress told me it was, but I wasn't expecting that much lol. The chicken was fried perfectly and the waffles were really good. The spice kicked my ass, but I powered through. I would probably get the sauce on the side next time.
