Google
Highly recommend eating here. Luqman, the Manager here, took great care of us. We enjoyed the food so much! Very tasty, super fresh and hand made noodles! Need I say more. Ummm, yes! The Uyghur black tea was chefs kiss. We were told that the owners have a special recipe. And the lamb was perfectly seasoned, oh and the cucumber salad, so simple but incredible. I will definitely be back to try the dumplings and the meat pie next time.

Very homey feel - feels like mom / grandma cooked you a meal. We ordered the dumplings, cumin lamb and lamb leg rice. Everything was very good. Would come back to try their hand pulled noodles. Black tea is free as well and smells very fragrant! Definitely a place not to miss!

I was curious to try Uyghur cuisine and noticed there’s a spot in Houston—Turan Uyghur Kitchen. We decided to check it out, and I’m glad we did! The restaurant itself is nice and clean. We went on a Friday evening when it was moderately busy, but the service was still excellent. Prices were very reasonable, and a big plus is that everything is halal. For appetizers, we ordered the spring rolls and egg drop soup. Both were tasty, but the spring rolls stood out—crispy, fresh, and clearly made in-house. For mains, we tried the lamb stuffed dumplings, garlic chicken fried rice, and stir-fried udon noodles with beef. Every dish was flavorful and served in generous portions. They also brought out complimentary black tea, which was a nice touch. To finish, we got a honey cake to-go, and enjoyed it the next morning—it was absolutely delicious! Overall, we were highly satisfied and would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving Central Asian flavors. The food came out in a reasonable time, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was comfortable. We’ll definitely be going back to try more dishes from their menu!

Stopped here for a quick lunch during the weekend and it was not too busy. The spot is cozy and homey looking. We ordered the Odon noodles with beef and chicken. We also ordered the chicken dumplings. Noodles tasted fresh and they are made in house. Dumplings also tasted like they were made in house, fresh, and delicious. I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu. The biggest bonus is the food is Halal. The complementary tea is an added bonus after your meal.

Google
I was here more than 7 times. My first visit when they only opened(14 November from last year) from that time everything really improved, especially their food. Food now is really amazing. I would suggest dumplings with chicken, gyro laghman and of course sorpa from dumplings, really delicious! And really big thanks to the owner, every time when I come he always was welcome and very polite person. I hope this restaurant will get its deserved hipe!

Google
The food was so yummy the korma noodles were delicious. The lamb kebab was really yummy. It was my favorite part. The dumplings were alright but over all so yummy! Service is great!!!

Turan Uyghur Kitchen is a real hidden gem, bringing the unique flavors of Uyghur cuisine right to Houston. The food is rich, authentic, and full of character—you can really taste the difference in their handmade noodles and perfectly seasoned meats. The lamb dishes are a standout, tender and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Their menu offers a great mix of bold flavors and traditional Uyghur specialties that you don’t often find elsewhere. The restaurant itself has a warm, welcoming vibe, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking to try something different from the usual Mediterranean or Asian spots, Turan Uyghur Kitchen is definitely worth a visit—it’s an authentic taste of Central Asia right here in Houston!

Came here on a weeknight with a friend of mine. Surprised to see only 2 other tables seated. We were greeted immediately by a waiter and the owner. The physical menu offered is very limited compared to the online menu we both saw from Google. For some unknown reason, the appetizers, vegetarian dishes, dessert options and beverages other than water aren’t available right now. Ordered the lamb skewers, Uyghur Polo (lamb leg) with steamed rice to try initially. Surprised to see huge cuts of lamb on the skewers, seasoned well, not too salty or overcooked. The Uyghur Polo is a popular dish in their cuisine but I was still shocked to see no seasoning whatsoever on the lamb. It was also very challenging to share the leg with my friend as the waitstaff did not bring out a knife and fork until we requested. They brought out cold marinated cucumber as a free side dish that was very nice! My friend and I enjoyed the texture and flavor of the rice but still felt like we needed to try something else. Finally, we ordered the only dish on the menu that had a vegetable pairing: Stir Fried Green beans with beef. This dish tasted the best, the beef and green beans were seasoned well in a thick red marinade, not spicy at all but definitely salty enough. Whatever the table across from us ordered looked and smelled very fragrant. My friend and I both felt the service was lacking. After our first 2 dishes were served to us, no one came back to check on us, refill water or add napkins. I think Ramadan recently ended so the owners and waitstaff eat pretty punctually starting around 8pm. Make sure you finish your food and leave around that time as the kitchen also closes at 8:30pm. I am not too familiar with this cuisine but it’s definitely worth trying out. Word of caution, the English names for the dishes are not descriptive at all, you can only tell what meat or what type of carb it is from reading the Chinese names. I would hesitate to return as I am disappointed many original items are no longer being offered.

Yelp
Tuesday night dinner, first time having Uyghur food! Nothing bad to say about this place. Located in Metropole Center (Jusgo plaza) near One Dragon behind Don's. Ample parking. Decent sized dining room, not too busy (Tues), around 6 tables total during our 7-8pm visit. Service was friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Everything had so much flavor! Lamb kebab and Uygher polo were my favorites. Dumplings were good but not as impressive as everything else. The tea had perfect autumn spice flavors. Halal No pork No alcohol

Yelp
A hidden gem in Houston Chinatown. I had seen this place on social media and have driven past so many times, so I wanted to try it out. I was here on a Friday night and inside was brimming with big and small parties, but there was still plenty of seating. I had Uyghur food in China many years ago and loved it, so I was excited for this restaurant. We ordered the Fried Naan with lamb, Korma Chop with beef, and Lamb Kebab, all of which were new dishes to me. It was crazy how EVERYTHING we ordered was soooo good. Writing this review right now makes me want to go back asap. The kebab was very fresh, tender, and well seasoned. The Korma chop was filling, spicy, flavorful although a bit heavy on the oil. The fried naan was so good too but it is fried naan mixed with lamb, not like a whole flatbread. 110% will be back and hopefully soon!

Yelp
Dumpling 3/5 Korma Chop 5/5 Uyghur Laghman 5/5 Small plate chicken 5/5 Samsa 5/5 This has become one of my favorite new places to show my friends, especially Muslim friends who don't usually get the opportunity to try Eastern Asian food. As someone who also has never had Uyghur food, this has been a treat for me as well. My highlight has definitely been the Korma Chop which I would say is comparable to hibachi and is ridiculously flavorful. The different appetizers like Samsa and Uyghur Laghman also very flavorful and great to share among a group! Finishing the small plate chicken is also no "small" feat as it even me and one other friend could only manage to tackle 2/3 of it. I would say the weakest thing we have tried was the dumpling - while it was filled with meat, the lack of any veggies in it (now I sound like my mother) made it a little too overwhelming by the time we are half way though the meal, though the vinegary dipping sauce did help a little to cut into the fatty meat. Overall I loved my experience here and can't wait to introduce Uyghur food to more friends!

Yelp
Had such a wonderful experience here with my family! We wanted to try some new cuisine and the menu here looked like a great fusion of all types of foods that we liked. The noodles and rice were both phenomenal, but we all shared family style and everything we had was good. I would say it's a great combination of spice and seasoning. The staff was also very friendly and made us feel welcome. We'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and was seated after a short wait. My family and I tried the lamb skewers, the Polo, the stir fried shrimp, dumplings. Since they were out of the fresh noodles, we tried the lamb udon instead. My favorites were the skewers and the dumplings. The meat was perfectly tender and juicy and cooked so well. The dumplings seem to be made in house and the skin had a great chew, while the chicken inside was succulent. The one dish I wasn't a fan of was the stir fried shrimp, but everything else while a little salty for my taste was tasty. I'd be back to try the handmade noodles.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I randomly saw this place one time and took note to visit it at some point. We are so glad we gave it a chance because it was amazing. It was my first time trying Uyghur food, and I was quite excited. We ordered the Fried Naan with lamb, Korma Chop with beef, and Lamb Kebab. You should've seen the way our faces lit up each time we took a bite of a new dish. They definitely do not skimp on their seasoning. Absolutely phenomenal. The owner was welcoming and staff was attentive. And it was pretty busy our entire time, which I'm glad. It would be a disservice to yourself if you do not give this place a try. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Went to @turan_uyghurkitchen, first time trying Uyghur food, and we enjoyed it. we ordered the Beef Skewers, Sizzling Beef, Rice Noodles with Chicken and Chicken Dumplings. First off for the Skewers, the beef was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was on point. Next the Sizzling Beef, very flavorful and my favorite item that we tried. Next the Rice Noodles with chicken was another interesting dish, in a bowl with alot of broth and had a kick to it, another item I enjoyed. and last for the Dumplings, honestly some of the better Dumplings that I have had. Overall a great experience, if you are looking for an alternate to the normal Chinese food then this is the spot for you #food #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm #foodiesofinstagram #foodpic #foodbloggers #globalfood #globaleats #globalfoodie #internationalfoodie #internationalfoodieschat #foodiesinternationalchat #thefoodieinitiative #foodblogger #foodlover #foodies #foodpics #forkyeahfoodies #internationalcuisinefamily #fooodexplorertribe #halalfoodie #halalhouston #halalfood #htxfoodie #halalfoodie

Yelp
I've now been to this place twice. Typically, I like to visit a restaurant three times before leaving a review. This way, I'm not just guiding folks with my words but ensuring the restaurant has been consistent--especially when recommending specific dishes. With Turan, I'll be limiting my visits to two. I wanted to love this place. Uighur food is rare in Houston, and we used to have an outstanding spot recognized by the Houston Press. Sadly, that closed during Covid, much to my disappointment. So, I was excited to try Turan. I remembered loving the Uighur flavors I'd experienced before--savory and smoky lamb, spicy beef, and rice noodles with that perfect balance of chew and bite. For my first visit, I made a reservation since I was going with a group of friends. Turns out, ressies weren't needed; we were seated immediately. The staff here are incredibly nice and genuinely helpful. On my second visit, it was clear they were understaffed. Our server seemed harried but still managed to be attentive, which I appreciated. Over the course of two visits, I've tried the Fried Rice Noodles, Samsa, Uyghur Laghman, Gosh Naan, Dumplings, and Beef Fried Rice. Unfortunately, on both occasions, I noticed that all the meats and flavors were remarkably similar across dishes. There wasn't much to set them apart. The Dumplings were good--not something I'd go out of my way for. Everything else? Neither memorable nor worth ordering again. To be fair, the dishes looked beautiful when they arrived and smelled promising, but the flavors didn't deliver. The portions are generous, but we found that one lamb dish was more than half onions with only a few bits of lamb sprinkled in. What's more, after both visits, some of my dining companions had stomach issues the next day. While I didn't have this problem, it's worth noting--especially for those with sensitive stomachs. I want to be transparent: I love that Houston has a Uighur restaurant, and I truly hope more follow. This place is worth a try, because everyone's tastes are different, but I don't see myself returning or recommending it to others.

Yelp
Especially the Lamien and Samsa are amazing, finger licking delicious everyone must try at least once

Yelp
I had Turkish Simit and Diced Meat Noodles (Sui Rou Lagman) for lunch at Turan Uyghur Kitchen in Houston Chinatown. Don't be mistaken with the Turan Uyghur Kitchen restaurant in Dallas (Plano TX to be exact). I don't know the relationship. But they share the same cuisine. This Turan Uyghur Kitchen restaurant took over the space where used to be Chinatown Dim Sum, which another restaurant occupied with abnormally different style of Chinese food. I am just glad that Turan Uyghur Kitchen hung the different name on the building and replaced the decor inside. I remember there was an Uyghur restaurant in Houston years ago. I always welcome diverse of Chinese regional restaurants to Chinatown. This little hole-in-the-wall had customers filled up the restaurant during the first week of opening. I came here to try the Chinese Halal cuisine. The menu seems simple but the portion is enormous. Reading the first 2 items from the top, Small Plate Chicken 小盘鸡 and Big Plate Chicken 大盘鸡 are the signature dishes. The small plate can feed up to 3 adults and big plate can feed up to 6 or 8 people. I saw a family of 2 with a baby consuming a small plate chicken. The plate is covered with a mound of cut up chicken with spicy sauce over a layer of noodles. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. But I will, once I get some friends together that are willing to share a spicy meal. I studies the menu before visiting Turan Uyghur Kitchen. There are a few items on my list that I want to try. The Turkish Simit tasted like bagel. Not sure if they didn't heat it long enough or center was supposed to be ice cold. I normally don't eat that much starch with my meal. So, I took it home to enjoy some other time. The owner showed me how the noodles were made, not in front of me but it was refrigerated on a giant platter. I was intrigued to try it. So I ordered the popular item Sui Rou Lagman 碎肉拌面 aka diced meat noodles. I was glad that sauce came separately. I can only add the sauce little by little onto the noodles. The sauce was too spicy for me. As the owner recommended, I will tell them to put less pepper next time. Again, I don't know if noodles supposed to serve cold. I would love to come back to try the lamb soup and dumplings.

Yelp
Amazing only Uyghur food you can find in Houston! The taste is unforgetful and flavorful. The service was fairly quick but doesn't bring all the dishes together rather one by one when it's ready.
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
So so good. So flavorful. Fresh noodles. The sauces were amazing. The staff was helpful with helping us pick out dishes. The food came fast. The dumplings came out last, but that wasn't a huge deal. Inside was so cute and decorated nicely. No issues. Will return.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for lunch on a weekday. We were served hot black tea (they had water upon request) and we ordered the small plate chicken (feeds 2-3 people) and the cumin lamb (comes with rice). The small plate chicken was pricey but a huge portion. Lots of meat (with bone), potatoes, and peppers on top of hand pulled wide noodles (wish there were more noodles) I'd say the spice level was medium to high but perfect for my own taste. The cumin lamb was 70% onions and 30% lamb and the lamb was cut super tiny and thin. The restaurant was very clean and the decor and table set up made it seem homely and welcoming, as if you were in someone's kitchen. I'd definitely come back again to try the other items on the menu (I like how it was small). Happy there's a Uyghur restaurant in Chinatown now (the last time there was one was before covid in the HMart plaza).
google avatar

Iqbal L.

Yelp
We had excellent Halal Chinese food here for lunch. We were a large group and tried several dishes. All were delicious. The cumin lamb, korma chops, fried rice, boso lagman and the orange chicken were very tasty and the spice level was just right for us. We had dumplings and samsa for appetizers which were also very nice. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. The staff was friendly and the food was served in a timely manner. I highly recommend for anyone looking for Halal Chinese in Houston.
google avatar

M W.

Yelp
My son and I have been looking forward to trying this place because Houston has been devoid of Uyghur cuisine for several years now. We shared the korma chop (sliced lamb with laghman) and the lamb leg polo. The lamb leg polo was served with a salad of shredded carrots, red onions and vermicelli topped with chili oil and sesame oil. For dessert, we shared the yogurt topped with honey, walnuts and dried cranberries and the complementary baklava. The delicious baklava was served warm with what tasted like ghee. It was similar to yet different from the Middle Eastern baklavas that I'm accustomed to. We're looking forward to coming back and trying the other menu items.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been able to enjoy Uyghur cuisine since my other favorite spot in Chinatown closed a while back. Came in on a weekday for lunch with an old colleague, and there were about 4 or 5 other tables also there at the time. Unfortunately it seemed like only the owner/manager was taking orders so it wasn't the fastest. The interior has a very homey feel to it. The kebabs were flavorful and the pearl noodles we ordered were tasty. I'm not a lamb eater but the lamb soup was pretty good as well, very light. Although ordering and waiting for the food to come took a while and the prices are pretty steep, the owner was nice and the food was good. Will come again in the future to try other dishes.
google avatar

Jonney Y.

Yelp
Great service and the food was delicious. Not too spicy (heat) but lots of spice flavor! The big plate chicken is big, and all dishes were good to share. I recommend coming with a good appeti

Yelp
Food was tasty and amazing! We love it! Service was excellent! Ambiance was so nice! Very traditional decor!

Yelp
When I heard a halal Uyghur restaurant had opened in Houston, I was so excited. I love Uyghur food and Turan did not disappoint. I tried the samsa, cumin lamb, and laghman (pulled noodles). I really wanted the polo (rice), but they didn't have it. Everything was delicious with a bit of spice to it. The cumin lamb is different from Mala's, but I enjoyed their version. The meat in all the dishes was tender and flavorful. The samsa had a nice flaky crust. I will definitely be going back to try other menu items. The vibe is cozy and homey inside. The employees are very nice and welcoming especially the polite young man who greeted me when I came in and insisted on helping me carry my order to my car. There is a little wait for takeout so I would call ahead next time. Definitely try Turan for something different in Chinatown!
google avatar

Garrett C.

Yelp
This is the best Logmun that you can find. Their Samsa, Lamb shish also extremely good as well. Definitely suggest everyone to go and taste this food

Aisha J.

Yelp
Awesome authentic Uzbek halal food! Everything is made fresh and the service is great! Family friendly restaurant in the heart of Chinatown!

Afshan S.

Yelp
I heard about this place from online and I figured it would be cool to try a cuisine I hadn't had before. Thank god I did, we arrived and it was rather busy, busier than it had ever been according to the server so service was a little slow. The food made up for it, the samsas were light and crispy and the gyro lagham was a top tier noodle dish. The interior had authentic and comforting decor. Would definitely come back again!

Sania S.

Yelp
This was my first time at Turan and trying Uyghur cuisine. The food was delicious! We ordered the korma chop, lamb kebab, sesame chicken, and the sautéed green beans. The restaurant is located in a small shopping strip in Bellaire. Overall a great experience and we will be coming back to try some more items.
google avatar

Mahvesh S.

Yelp
Delicious food and a really warm and friendly staff! The food tasted fresh and had a unique taste to it.
google avatar

Kristin K.

Yelp
We used to go to a Uyghur restaurant in DC that has since closed. The food here was similar to what we fell in love with. We let the server pick for us and we're not disappointed. Can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu.

Ishak Z.

Yelp
Lamb soup has the unique strong taste that I like it but my western female friends don't and prefer the Italian or Brazilian style of lamb dish instead. but I grow up eating that style before so I get used to it. The price is a lot cheaper here. I love the pita. The fried rice is simple but phenomenal! The service was ok. The place was simple but clean. It decorated like middle eastern style with Arabic music played in the background but everyone around us speaking Chinese which is a great experience to witness while I was enjoying some kind of Indian food style in the Western World Houston Texas.

Samia G.

Yelp
Great food, very sweet staff!! Highly recommend the chicken thugur dumplings. They make their chili oil in house! The lamb kebab and chicken laghman were yummy, too. Can't wait to try other items!

Luqman M.

Yelp
The food is amazing as well as customer service. Just with a simple wave of the hand you're able to add to your meal. The establishment is well decorated and clean. Also they have a room to offer salat. The meat is zabiha halal certified and the spices definitely takes you on a journey down Silk Road
google avatar

Lailai P.

Yelp
Service was good but taste has left more to be desired. Lamb leg over rice was a bit tough and so was the lamb skewers. They both need a bit more flavor. Everything was in very generous portion and the big plate chicken was literally the size of a small coffee table.

Art J.

Yelp
Ist time trying Uygur food. Overall good food! We tried Polo with Lamb shank & Pearl noodles. Protein intense. The menu listed several vegetable dishes, but not available yet as the restaurant is just opening branch in Houston..
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Everything we had was fantastic. Small plate chicken, egg drop soup, the tea. Oh my goodness, it's so delicious! Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

K L.

Yelp
I was with a party of 7 - I thought the best dishes were the Turkish Simit, sui ruo lagman, and pearl noodle dish, and fried naan and beef dish. They were all flavorful, with lots of garlic. The size portion of these dishes were good if you're doing family style. The ambiance was nice. It looked a little modern and the table was clean. The only downside was the sticky floor. The wait staff was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly.

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food! Staff are amazing! Must try Korma Chop and the Lamb Kebabs! We saw this place on tiktok and we love finding different foods from different cultures. It was a nice and clean atmosphere.

Tony C.

Yelp
We had the small plate chicken which was more than enough for two. It was somewhat spicy and very tasty but the small bones in the chicken were inconvenient. The noodles in this dish were excellent and were so long that a pair of scissors was available upon request to cut them. The lamb filled dumplings were excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. Would go back to try some other Uyghur cuisine.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
The food is good I like the lamb pancake a lot. Others are average so far. One of the childish server were pretty Miss family value and rude. He slammed my receive on the table when I pay he was questioning are you paying for everyone and ask stupid questions like why ain't other don't pay. he was also jumping around in the restaurant as well. I hope the owner didn't hire under age staff.

Mansur T.

Yelp
Excellent quality food. Great lamb great noodles. Terrific and attentive service, high quality staff. Ambiance is really nice and well decorated.

Kairat B.

Yelp
Yummy food, great service, genuine Uyghur food! Thank you! Good atmosphere. Appreciate it!

Yelp
Awful, dishes are cold in the middle. Not clean and service was average. Overall it was pretty overpriced

Tabinda G.

Yelp
So happy we have a Uyghur place in houston again! We ordered the korma chop, pulao, lamb skewers, sizzling beef and gosh naan. Everything was really really good! The skewers were perfectly cooked and so flavorful without being spicy. Sizzling beef was the standout dish with a wonderful blend of spices and garlic. Noodles were great too! And pulao, which I normally don't like, was so good I'll definitely be ordering it again!

Rick R.

Yelp
Very good food with great variety and options. It would have helped if the menu had descriptions for each item. The Lamb skewers were amazing.

Mehmet C.

Yelp
The food, the service, and the ambiance all come together to make Turan Uyghur restaurant truly unique and fantastic. Will be bringing my friends and family. had an absolute great time. The Koram Chop and Lamb Kebab was amazing. The tea was very good. I will aim to come at least once a month. Would recommend it for families, couples, and friends. The service was very friendly and great. New favorite Asian restaurant in Houston.

Dias T.

Yelp
Lagman food was amazing, nice atmosphere and fair price !!! Good service my recommendation

Vivek M.

Yelp
Food was very good, the lamb grilled skewers are awesome. The dumplings are very flavorful. The lamb filled bread is very crispy and full of flavor. The small chicken plate has superb taste but is very spicy, served with noodles, but would be also amazing with plain rice because of the potatoes reminds you of curry chicken.. service was good , but if they can have pictures of the items with an explanation of the ingredients would be appreciated.neat and clean.

Yaya L.

Yelp
TLDR: The service was the worst I have ever experienced in a long time, and the food wasn't good enough to warrant the wait or ever coming back here ever again. Came here as 2 families, total of 7 people. The waiter tried to seat us at a 4 top until we said no. We ordered 5 dishes 10 min after being seated, and the food took 50 min to arrive. When we asked them to check on our order, their immediate response was "we have a very large group here tonight." Not "I'm sorry", not "let me check on that for you." We couldn't even get more water, and when we brought the empty pitcher to the waiter, they took it but didn't fill it. We had to ask where our water was. We had to get our own utensils and napkins, and to go boxes. Finally, the food was not worth it. The lamb leg rice meat was extremely dry and the rice tasted like it was sitting out for awhile. The big plate chicken meat was also dry/over boiled. We spoke with the waiter when we ordered about putting the sauces on the side so we could remove some noodles for the kids and they didn't do that, so the kids couldn't eat anything that we had waited almost an hour for. The other dishes were decent but not great: gosh naan, ding ding noodles, fried naan.
