Turkey Chop Gourmet Grill

My visit to Turkey Chop was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I noticed was that the place was clean and the decor and the lobby were both simple yet engaging. There was a wall that showed the history of the owner and his experience that he brought to the restaurant and hopes to bring to the community. We had the grandma turkey burger, 2 texas turkey burgers, and the Jamaican jerk wrap. They were all good, flavorful, and filling. Very often, you get turkey burgers, and they are not something to write home about, but this WAS *Dear Mama. The third thing was the good service. The young lady was friendly and efficient and was happy to describe the items as we mentioned this was our first time. The prices are comparable to other restaurants that serve similar items, and I will most definitely be returning again! CAN'T WAIT TO TRY MORE MENU ITEMS.

We drove over an hour to try this place. I was super excited when I watched the Black Foodies. The portion was HUGE and customer service was spot on. My husband and I both got the Sunday dinner stuffed turkey leg. The turkey leg (to me) tasted like a smoked turkey leg purchased at a grocery store and boiled. The macaroni was cheesy but had no flavor. The greens were lacking flavor and had way too many stems. The dressing was a little dry (even with the gravy). The sweet potatoes were the star of the meal. They were AMAZING! The food portion that you get is WELL worth the price but I could only give 2 stars because it was definitely lacking seasoning. I also tried the strawberry lemonade. It was warm with a few ice cubes😔. I may gave gone on an off day, so I will definitely try them again. I love supporting black businesses and we all have our bad days.

I traveled all the way to west side to try this place. I knew it would be great, I’ve been to all of Quentin Love’s restaurant that were on the south side of chicago from him doing wings, soul food, tacos, Turkey burgers etc.. they were all great restaurants that all carved out their own individual niche, but it was something unique about this one. First it’s on the west side and when we talk about soul food, they usually mention MacArthurs. I came in and had the Sunday dinner with the stuffed Turkey leg.. I loved it.. there was no real surprises here.. another slam dunk.. I just hate the commute.. definitely coming back whenever I’m in the area..

First time here, love it can't wait to come back. Black owned and operated. The food was worth the price. Met the owner. The ambience is cool. It's a newer spot so I can't wait to see them grow. The food was delicious. You gotta stop by here and check it out for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Oh and they do have in seating in the back. You just have to place your order first. Love this place!

Sunday Dinner, mid-week from Turkey Chop. It has a succinct menu with items packed with flavour that are both comforting and filling. The meal is comprised of large turkey leg 🍗, collared greens, mac & cheese, yams, topped with smoked corn bread dressing and smothered in a knockout gravy. The turkey alone is outstanding; it falls off the bone. All of the sides are delicious. I would say my favourite is a tie between the greens and the mac.

Everything is delicious! The burger is thick and a welcome change from most restaurants charging a ton for thin and wimpy hamburgers. The jerk chicken wrap is saucy and flavorful. The Philly is always a safe and savory call. Plus, the sandwiches come with fries drenched in a delectable mild sauce. Add the great mission behind the restaurant and it’s a perfect 10

We came from Toledo, Oh and thought we would give Turkey Chop a try due to the reviews and buzz. They didn’t disappoint! I got the Honey-Q Turkey Tips with spinach and garlic mash. My husband got the Asian chicken stir fry and daughter got the chicken Alfredo. We dug in as soon as we got in the car and then saved the rest for the hotel room. We will be back for more !

🛑 Warning!!! "Terrible food, Terrible customer service, Terrible wait times!!!" I'm beyond disappointed 😞 spent over $90 dollars for a smoked and boiled turkey leg from the grocery store, unseasoned sides 🤮🤢 Piss hot Lemonade, 🤬 I received as a courteousy for waiting 2 hours. This is slop. NO THANKS!!🖕🏿 I WANT A REFUND!!!

We ordered: 1. BBQ Heaven - Turkey Leg, Turkey Hot Links, Shrimp, Fresh Cut Fries 2. Sunday Dinner - Turkey Leg, Yams, Collard Greens, Stuffing, Mac n Cheese 3. Lil Italy - Dirty Rice and Spinach Risotto Stuffed Turkey Leg I was happy with our order. Particularly bbq heaven fries and Sunday dinner. Turkey was quite tender for a lean meat in a fast carryout restaurant. Fries were crispy and not dry. I was impressed that the collard greens were not sour and very edible. Nothing felt overcooked. No issues with service. I will definitely get this for lunch when I'm nearby.

This hole in the wall spot seems to be pretty popular, but the food is just ok. The wait time was about 20 mins and there were just two other people in the restaurant when I was there. I got the Thanksgiving platter, I believe, which is composed of sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and turkey leg. The turkey leg was a bit undercooked as it still had a bit of a rough chew on it. The sides were ok, but it was nothin to rave about. I decided to get the Jamaican jerk wrap and I honestly should have just stayed with the platter, but I was eating with my eyes. The chicken tasted spoiled, was messy, and had a fishy taste to it. I threw it out after I spat out after my first bite. Wouldn't go here again.

Stopped by Turkey Chop (Huge shoutout to TikTok) this is a pick-up style establishment. Upon arriving the restaurant was actually giving away turkey for Thanksgiving to people in the community and people driving by which was super dope to see. The mayor was present however this was something that I stumbled across unknowingly. Everyone was pleasant from the owner, to the staff, to the people ordering also. The establishment was clean, and so was the music selection BUT the star of the show was the Turkey Leg (Yams [Sweet Potatoes], Collard Greens, Stuffing [Dressing], & Mac and Cheese). I had an expectation when going here that it would be good however I didn't know it would be beyonddddd delicious. Ordered one entree which was enough for two foodies to split. Everything was well seasoned. I actually believe they must of made the food with the secret crabby patty formula because I almost went crazy after the first bite and considered eating the plastic container it came in also lol! I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone with a car, a friend with a car, a Uber/lyft account, a bike, bus pass, skate board, etc. Try it for yourself. You might even cry a little while you eat.

We have to do better as businesses and updating hours on the platforms people search us by re: google yelp or any other search engine. I drove all the way from the southside to get some turkey chop only to find it closed. Very disappointing.

This food gem in the hood is good for folks who want some good grub but don't really eat other meats outside of Turkey. I'll let you know now to place your order in advance or go early. The wait time can kill you lol - they try to be efficient and get people their orders in a timely fashion but with the large amount of business, it's difficult. My boyfriend and I ordered the bbq heaven, a side of collards, and a Jamaican jerk wrap meal. We purchase the Groupon but without it, our total would have been $44.00; not too shabby. The bbq heaven literally is that - imagine a massive Turkey leg on top of their crispy fries drenched in mild sauce layered with Turkey links and shrimp. I do think the shrimp wasn't needed and didn't add flavor but it was cooked well and given in abundance. The jerk wrap is basic - wouldn't recommend. It's overly saucy and served in a pita wrap. I would recommend the establishment use an actually tortilla wrap to keep all the juices in and minimize the amount of sauce dropping from it. Also add a mini sauce on the side. This would literally elevate the wrap. I've read some reviews that you can sit down. We didn't have that opportunity. It would be a good idea for them to open the room for folks to sit down and eat their food especially while it's hot.

100% recommend buying the Groupon if it's still available- great deal! My bf and I came here for a date and quickly realized this wasn't what we expected when it came to the restaurant itself. They have 1 long table - think family style - where you can sit down and eat. I've seen this mostly in the south so it was cool with me - good for socializing or fam/friend gatherings (especially if they do private events). Now I say all this but we were there alone so we were comfortable and don't know what that experience is like with others there. Again, very family style. The food itself we shared which was the pasta (the main dish) + (apps) candied yams, mashed potatoes, & mac & cheese. The pasta itself was yummy - i loved the broccoli & turkey - very juicy. We shared that plate. Mashed potatoes has no seasoning so we didn't finish. Mac was eh and idk why we even ordered that knowing we had pasta. Yams were yummy! Had their strawberry lemonade (if i remember correctly) it was fine. The lady that served us was nice!

The main question with any eatery is: How's the food? I loved my turkey burger and fries. The portions were huge. It's very sharable. The service was outstanding as the woman who took our orders was a blessing. So kind and considerate. Talking with her made my day. Exemplary service. Our order was prepared quickly. Prices are fair and payment was easy.

The food was awful. I ordered two Sunday dinners and paid over $60.(Never Again!!!) The mac and cheese was too salty, the yams were too sweet, the turkey leg was mediocre, dressing was bland and the greens tasted nasty! I was very disappointed and definitely would not be going back. Save your money. It is not worth losing.

Found Turkey Chop via a Groupon and it's well worth the value even without Groupon. It's a small restaurant and not built for dine in but upon entry you're instantly greeted and smell delicious foods. Upon entry it's bright and colorful and has some data about the restaurant inside. There's no pork or beef here too which is definitely my type of vibe. I had the turkey chops with mac and cheese and sautéed spinach and everything was so flavorful and delicious. My order was taken promptly and made under 20 minutes. There's plenty of street parking around the area too so no need to worry. I would definitely be back to this place and recommend you try them.

I was scroll through ubereats looking for something good to eat. I stumbled upon Turkey Chop. As a person who doesn't eat pork these type of places are my jam. I ordered the Turkey Tips with Mashed Potatoes and Mac & Cheese. The Turkey tips were seasoned well but I had more bone than anything and I've never had turkey tips with a bone in it. Mashed Potatoes were okay could have used some salt. Mac & Cheese was seasoned well and very cheesy. Price range was average. Overall the food was okay. Food was delivered hot and on time.

Mm mm good! Everything here is just wonderful. Takes a big long for the food to get to you and it just sucks that they aren't open on Sundays.

OMG my first time trying this place, and I will surely be trying it again. I ordered the Maxwell polish for lunch, and the turkey short ribs, sautéed spinach and sweet potatoes for dinner. Yes, I had all this delivered to me. My lunch was really good, but dinner was truly amazing! I just moved back to Chicago from Texas. They got Turkey Leg Hut, but it ain't got nothing on this place. I can't wait for my Texas friends to visit so I can introduce them to some good turkey soul food...I am a fan for life!!!!

I went to the 79th location and they sold me leftovers for 30.00 + $. Never again! The turkey was dry , the dressing terrible, and the yams was disgusting.

This is one of my favorite places for Turkey burgers and don't forget about the Turkey chops. The customer service is also very good.

The reason for the missing star...my greens were touching my mac n cheese. And that caused my mac not to be cheesy. Is it fair to take a star away for that reason? I think so but...... The food was good overall. I loved the Turkey and dressing. Both were well seasoned and savory. I wish I could give my opinion on the mac n cheese but due to the greens juice mixture, I can't. Next time if I can't get the greens separate, I'll just get double dressing or double Mac.

I ate the BBQ heaven and ate it while in traffic. The turkey is surprisingly good and the shrimp taste different from all the shrimp I've had before. Overall I would eat here again but I wish they had a better spot. It was hard to find a parking space anywhere.

Can't say that I will ever go back, I'll just wait until they perfect their orders. Overall the food was alright not something that I can truly brag on. I will be returning back next year to give an update.

I'm giving them a 3 star because I ordered the Sunday Dinner meal which was a 10. My husband ordered the meatloaf plate with dirty rice & it was so nasty!! The Mac & cheese was great! Also we ordered before another customer & she got her food before us. I believe the lady forget which mistakes happen. Also we asked could we order a side of dressing and she said they don't sell dressing as a side just to turnaround & sell the lady behind us a small side of dressing. Told me a 12 minute wait & waited over 25 minutes

Was supporting Turkey chop because I use to work for the Owner Mr. Love when had the Quenches & Fajitas restaurants. The food quality was superb back in the early 2000s. Went to order the Turkey Melt with a side of fries. It was advertised on the menu as Turkey Melt $5 add fresh cut fries $2. Was told the fries are actually $6 and the menu was wrong. Even the cashier said that doesn't sound right. The cook was rude to her and said no it's been changed to $6. Tired of supporting Black owned businesses only to be disappointed. I hope Mr. Love fix the issues in his establishment

I was y'all could taste a photo bc this meal was phenomenal. I personally LOVE a lot of sauce and it was def sauce heavy but SO flavorful. If you're missing bbq And don't eat pork, run here!!

This was my first time there and the food is real good. Yes I will recommend it to anymore and I will be eating from there again the hospitality is respectful. She went over the menu with me patiently. It is worth the wait and trust me it not long as you expect it to be and the price is pretty reasonable.

Always good food. Try everything. For me it's wroth the trip. They even have jerk Alfredo.

For the life of me, I don't know why in the world I never reviewed this restaurant because I bring this man's name up like I'm his Public Relations Manager. Damn near any time someone brings up black businesses or black restaurateurs, I'm blabbing on and on about Quentin Love. I didn't know who he was until I saw an article about him in the Chicago Defender some time between 2007-2008. Then I ended up going to Quench in Bronzeville and fell in love with the vegetarian jerk and vegetarian patty melt sandwich. I was buying it ALL of the time. I was also going in his other restaurant chains in Chatham, along with competing with my parents to hit up his restaurant on 87th Street. (Do you know how good your food has to be for me to walk past Harold's MILD SAUCE FRIES?!) Those restaurants have come and gone, but I was determined to visit any restaurant he had and drove way, way, way out of my way to this one in 2019 to interview him. Although he didn't have any of the vegetarian stuff I was eating before, he had his cooks make a vegan meal for me that was mouth-watering. I was sitting there doing the "good food" dance, reminiscing on restaurants of his past. This restaurant is too far for me to want to go to anymore, and I haven't been in three years. But you would never know it because I'm constantly recommending him to fellow vegans, vegetarians and those who want to support black businesses. I came on this site to find my review to add it to another review site, and was completely confused to not see a review at all. I'll fix that right now. When you first meet him, he may seem a little rough around the edges. But he KNOWS how to pick an absolutely kind and professional staff, and he warms up to you (well, at least me) after a while. I wish he'd open a restaurant closer to me. I'd be there all the time.

I ordered fried Turkey chops, cabbage, and mash potatoes. I left off a star because I really didn't enjoy the cabbage. Jamaican version of cabbage is a hit or miss but overall all the food was delicious! I'm truly a fan of fried turkey chops!

I ordered for pick up a couple hours ago , just to get home and see that they gave me leftovers , I ordered two Sunday meals which came up to $60 my dressing was hard in a ball like a rock and my turkey leg was tough & didn't fall apart at all it look like they made they turkey leg's & dressing two days ago ! me and my family was so excited to try this place after we seen it on tiktok, i won't be back.

I finally found my happy place. It's so hard to find soul food or comfort food restaurants where they serve dressing. It was so GOOD! I wish they delivered the stiffened Turkey leg selections. Hopefully there'll be on Turkey Chop on the south side soon.

If I could give this 10 stars I would . Being from down south it's hard to find good southern food in Chicago but this is one of the best soul food place's I have ever been to

Garbage ass food, very long wait. The turkey legs isn't tender at all just sum warm up smoke meat. And it very expensive for the quality.

the food is great the customer service not so much.. I'm ordering my food and because I don't want ketchup on my fries she gonna tell me it's .50 with a attitude. Canceled that order.

I'm in your restaurant now, 7/22 @ 4:31p. Ordered and paid online. The lobby is packed. No one to hand out online orders. Your service is horrible. You have to better serving your people! First and last time.

We ordered catering for a business meeting/event and Turkey Chop was phenomenal! We order chicken creole, chicken alfredo, turkey meatloaf, mac n cheese, Caribbean cabbage, and dirty rice. There was not a spot of food left in those pans. The staff is absolutely wonderful and incredibly kind. If you want a wonderful, easy, delicious catering experience, order here! This was not our first time ordering and will certainly not be the last.

Last time I ordered the food was horrible. The dressing is sweet. I've never taste, sweet dressing. They're losing their touch.

Over priced small portions for that price of $20 the presentation looks good as they are advertising on social media but in real time is not the same

waiting time was over an hour and a half and after having to wait to place an order, we were informed that they did not have any stuffed turkey chops. they opened four hours prior. why are they out of their specialty?

Unfortunately, this review is going to be more about the service than the food! I have wanted to check them out for awhile now and I stopped in for lunch since I was in the area. I walked in and was a tad bit confused on where their ordering area was located. There wasnt anyone in the front area, but 2 guests. So I wandered to the back, saw a lady behind the counter and assumed It was the ordering section. She never greeted me, just looked. So I asked for a menu and she said here's 1. Fine enough, I looked it over quickly because I already knew I wanted the smothered Turkey chops. So I put the menu down and waited on her to finish up other orders. She finally asks what can I get you I rattle off my meat, request greens & yams as sides. She rang me up and never asks for here or to go. So I sit for almost 30mins (I know because I looked at the receipt paper time and my phone clock to see WTF was taking so damn long). When the order FINALLY comes up its packed to go with napkins & utensils to eat. Ok thanks. I walk back up and ask for hot sauce. She gets huffy & puffy & says hot sauce is $.50. BLANKSTARE.... OK I just spent $15.44 on a dinner and hot sauce is extra for greens. FUNNY,!!! But I guess I can afford the $.50. I get it and she snatches it off the counter then asks the older gentleman whos working after he'd already politely handed me the hot sauce, "did you get her hot sauce?". At this point he sees my irritation and tries to correct her rudeness w/asking did I enjoy the food, I advised him that I hadn't tried it yet, he said that I'd really enjoy it. After that I was just done. I watched her prance around in all the Male customers faces skinning and grinning, each convo made me more irritable. This chick shouldn't be the face of the business because I'm a stickler on service and she would make me never patronize them again. Food easily a 5. Fresh & tasty, seasoned wonderfully. Best Turkey chop I've ever had. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

The service was horrendous. Once my order was taken she said "Ok just a few minutes ". I placed my order at 11:30 and received it at 1:18. That was my first and last visit there. There were others that placed their orders at opening and received the same results. They lied every time you inquired about your order "your order is up next". That came with a second inquiry 30 minutes later.. only to receive the same answer "it's up next". No one else was receiving their orders that were placed before mine. It was a really bad experience, so much that I will never return.

After failing to find a parking spot at a thrift store that caught my interest, I got hungry which led to me searching Yelp for a burger restaurant in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. It is just one of those burger craving days for me, so of course I'm going to give my taste buds what it wants. I have a slight fear of eating in select parts of Humboldt Park & East Garfield Park because of it being a slight chance of being ghetto, which makes me very picky when choosing in the area. The nearest restaurant that popped up on my map was Turkey Chop, which was not too far from a shopping center that I visit regularly off of Kedzie & Chicago Ave. Turkey Chop ended up being alright, however the area does have its select sketchy individuals like any other. Prior to visiting the counter, I was amazed at the restaurants accomplishments which made me feel in good hands. I ended up letting them know at the last minute that I wanted to dine in, so excuse how my food is presented. I tried to make it look good for you all, but if you are curious I ordered the Grandma Turkey Burger w/ fresh cut fries. I have to say that what ever mild sauce they had on my fries made them taste amazing! The Grandma Turkey Burger was good, but soggy which was a slight problem prior to finishing it. However, I cannot complain because it was still good, and I was given an ample amount of napkins to clean my hands. While walking towards the door, I noticed the absence of a trash can to dump my trash which gave me the assumption that many customers get takeout versus dining in. In closing, I honestly rate Turkey Chop, just short of 4 stars which is not a bad rating. I would definitely return, plus recommend! In the meantime, I'm thinking "tha hell" with a workout because my tummy has been filled and my taste buds are happy. Thomas Gouard

Smothered turkey chop, collard greens and dirty rice from Turkey Chop was delicious! Everything was so flavorful and satisfied my craving for collard greens. So good! We'll definitely be back again to try out the rest of the menu.

I finally visited Turkey Chop this weekend. The food was fabulous. It was like a party in my mouth with each bite. I had the Texas Veggie Burger and Garden salad. This meal was so delicious we couldn't stop talking about it. The burger was perfectly done and the garden salad had the freshest croutons that were cooked to perfection. Their lemonade was just perfect. Service was fantastic and very friendly. We will be going back!

Not sure if they're under new management or just short and need to hire new people, but the service has tanked and gone down tremendously. They're SUPER slow and don't get your order right. There has been on more than one occasion I've called in and specifically ordered things and when I pick up the things are not in my bag. I call the restaurant and I'm told "you were not charged" that isn't the point. The point is I ordered certain food items and when I pick up my food I expect those items to be in my bag, because if they're not you should inform customers as to why the item isn't. They specifically do this with their spinach pizza puffs I have noticed. Not sure if they run out and don't realize it or they're trying to limit how many people get. In any event they need to communicate this because it's over frustrating. Just tell people there is a limit, not just not add it to the order. They need to fix these mishaps ASAP or I will not be returning. I swear some black owned businesses need to get their customer service act together - it's a turn off forreal.

One word to describe the food: wow! My mom told my boyfriend and me that Turkey Chop had good food, so we had to try it. We had originally wanted their shrimp alfredo pasta and meatloaf but they were out of shrimp and ground meat by the time we ordered (around 5pm). Instead, I ordered the cajun tilapia with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and their flavored lemonade. I had saved most of my appetite for this meal and it didn't disappoint. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were rich and buttery. The tilapia was tender and well-seasoned. Even the lemonade was on point, being the right balance between sweet and tart. They also provide good portions for the price (my tilapia meal and lemonade were $20). My belly and soul are content. I can't wait to come back here!

I was hesitant to try this place even though I had heard great reviews. I wasn't sure if the reviews were so good because there are so few reasonably priced healthy choices for fast food or that the food was really great. After trying the Turkey Tip dinner with yams and mac-n-cheese and the Turkey burger with collard greens and fresh cut fries I agree. Their food is delicious! The food tastes like they have a Southern grandma in their kitchen. I am impressed.

I went to this place while I was visiting my hometown and I didn't know what to expect. As you first come in the counter isn't right in front of you it's actually around the corner. So I went around and was greeted by a younger Puerto Rican girl and she gave us paper menus and my girlfriend and I sat down to view them. There was another place that we loved going to but it was closed down, so fingers crossed this one would be a great replacement. The menu was easy to read, not too busy with a lot of options crammed on one page. I was speaking to the cook and telling him about a place I used to frequent years ago and he informed me that this location was the same owner. After I found this out I couldn't wait to place my order. The young girl came to take our order, she was really polite and helpful, she had a smile on her face and made us feel right at home. When the food came it looked and smelled wonderful, I ordered turkey tips, with macaroni, and turkey links. My girlfriend ordered ribs and fries. One bite and I knew this would be my new go to restaurant, especially because the service was good and they have a great selection of turkey products. I will definitely be returning there the next time I'm in town, I needed to be rolled out of there when I left, and I seriously wanted one of everything. Love the Mac and cheese mash potatoes. Had the Grandma burger with fries....ohhhhh weeee with the suicide lemonade and I am really fully and satisfied.

Omg. I went yesterday with my beau to get some Jerk Tacos and the cashier and cook were so pleasant. They offered samples of the dirty rice and turkey tips and more. The samples were sooo good and so we ordered more food of course. After running back in to grab some fries, we spoke to the Cook who let us know this is the same owner as Quench and he had many locations years ago on the Southside of Chicago. I will be back and let everyone to know about this gem.

Great food, wonderful people, lovely cause. We came in looking for some food and found so much more. Highly recommended!
