The Newest Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Turkish Doner is bringing all things doner to Uptown. Their shaved meat comes in various forms like wraps, rice plates, sandwiches, and iskender. But aside from its namesake dish, you can also expect other Turkish dishes like lamacun, sucuklu pide, and ezme." - john ringor, nick allen

My first time trying Turkish cuisine and it was DELICIOUS! The staff are so kind and patient while I ordered my food and I even got to try their tea and baklava. The peaceful ambience and presentation of the food was beautiful, will definitely be coming back!

Google
The food is incredible, the chicken and the lamb were so juice, the fries perfectly cooked and the sauce that came with it was insane. I actually placed a second order to take home because it was that good. Also, the place feels really well-taken care of, clean, and nice details.

Google
Absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor — probably the best doner I’ve had in a long time. The service was super friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I didn’t have to wait at all for a table, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend to anyone who loves authentic Turkish food!

Came today with my daughter and bought Turkish shawarma, lentil soup (for daughter) and pide. Everything was sooo delicious. I bet this is the best Turkish cuisine in Chicago. Highly recommended to visit!

Yelp
So happy this place opened up in Uptown on Argyle because finding an authentic doner in Chicago is quite the challenge. It's super close to me so I finally decided to place an order for pick up and take it back home for lunch. Soooo delicious! Every bite tasted so fresh and delicious. Dreaming about going back soon for sure!

Yelp
I finally stopped in to try and the food was pretty good! I went with: - Turkish Doner Beef - French Fries - Turkish Baklava Pistachios The Doner was flavorful, really enjoyed the white sauce. The vegetables tasted fresh and provided a nice contrast. I only wish there was more beef, it was there but felt like it was behind the scenes compared to the vegetables. The fries were plain, but seasoned very well so didn't really need anything. While the baklava were delicious, just a tad expensive. Over 2 bucks a piece.

Yelp
Had a great chicken doner sandiwch. Vegetarian pide could have used a bit more flavor - so would try a different kind. Next time want to learn the difference between doner and shawarma since they have both on the menu. Bring your own water bottles if you want tap otherwise order a drink or tea. Sandwiches are just under $15 and the pide just above. Import sodas at $3.50.

Yelp
Oh my Turkish Doner, you are a delight. Order the mix pide and chicken kebab to go. Took about 20 min but our food was hot and FRESH. Smells ooooozing from the box, tantalizing us all the way home. I mean, this is a masterpiece. Look at the artistry in the mix pide. The flavor is unmatched. Savory and succulent flavors in a garlicky soft bread crust? I might dream about this. The shish kebab chicken was tender and flavored excellently. Great rice and toppings included. But BY FAR. THE. BEST. is the HUMMUS. Airy, creamy, garlicky. It pairs perfectly with all the items I tried dipping in it. Showstopper for sure. I'll be back just for hummus. Might even take it to parties and tell everyone I made it when they're so impressed. Anyway, Turkish Doner, you're a great addition to Argyle and I am delighted to come back for more

Yelp
This is unique, delicious and the kind of place you can order many amazing plates. We had a pide and the doner plate, and the meat was so nicely spiced and thinly sliced and tender. The pide is shaped like a boat and has different kinds of fillings. We got the vegetable one. We will be back, and look forward to trying new things.

Yelp
Visited this Thursday evening, during the Argyle Night Market event. The event was such a great success, thousands of people attended, hundreds of people were waiting in line front of each vendor. So I have decided to check out Turkish Doner instead of waiting in line for food at any street vendor. Turkish Donor a new little restaurant here in Uptown Chicago, offering Turkish cuisine. There are few tables and chairs available for indoor dining. To order, you need to go to the cashier and pay for your food and drink. I have decided to try the Beef Kabobs (7 pieces) platter, which came with rice and side salad. Cashier informed me that this food takes about 15 minutes to make. I found a little table by the window, where I set down and waited for my dinner. I got my drink immediately after ordering the food, a Mexican coke. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed that other customers were drinking traditional Turkish tea, or Yogurt drink, and noticed others food on the table, looked delicious. About 15-20 minutes later, my dinner arrived. The beef was very tender, rice was flavorful, and the salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions with oil and vinegar dressing) was delicious. Restaurant was overwhelmed by customers due to the event, but they did a great job! People were served fast as possible. Cashier was very polite, also cleaned the tables and served the food. Air conditioning could have been cooler, I felt a little bit warm there.

Yelp
Doner is super popular in Europe and worldwide, and Turkish Doner is one of only a few doner places in Chicago. I'm quite surprised there is only one review for this new-ish restaurant on Argyle (there are a bunch of reviews on the Google Maps page). The inside is nice but no frills, with a few tables in front of a counter. Food prep is behind the counter and behind a door, so no ability to view your food being cooked. There are a wide range of menu items, including multiple kabobs (chicken, lamb, beef, kofta), lamb chops, shawarma (Turkish and Slavic), and of course doner (Turkish and Iskender). Pides (similar to a pizza) are also available in different varieties (vegetarian, lamb, cheese, etc). There are starters (hummas, sultan, ezme, baba ghanoush) and side items ("extras") including cig kofte, lentil soup and salads. We had ezme (great), cheese pide (very good), Slavic shawarma and Turkish doner. The lavash wraps (shawarma and doner) were excellent, with tender meat and good flavor. In the interest of full disclosure, we have only eaten doner in Chicago, so it's hard to compare. However, I'd rank it the best of what we have encountered in the city. We have a German friend who we will bring by to do a taste test soon. Overall, definitely recommended. It's not a real sit down, so come prepared for good food served by nice people in a pleasant but relatively spartan environment. We are excited to go back soon to try more!

Yelp
I had my hopes up with the doner, but found it to be beef and not lamb, or lamb and veal as it should be.

Yelp
Great take out place with, so far I liked the Pide items the best... Fair prices and offers great value.

Yelp
Great new place on Argyle! Chicken shish kabob platter was excellent and thoroughly recommend stopping in if you are in need of a quick Turkish bite!
