"Turk’s is an oceanfront dive that encourages imbibers to eat, drink, and be merry at all hours of the day. Originally opened by Turk himself in 1984, the bar is now owned and operated by his daughter, who dedicates this favorite spot as an homage to her beloved father. This is one of the few dives where indulging in the quality food is highly encouraged." - Jordan Morosco

We had the fish and chips. It was very good. The service was fast and the place was packed. They have a full bar and seating inside and outside for drinks. Food service for the inside. The restaurant is right by the water and the boat dock. A beautiful view!!

My mom and I went to get their fish and chips, meal was amazing, our waitress was nice and fun, the atmosphere is amazing, I will certainly be going back.

Google
A classic spot with the best drinks, food and service. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The food is great. Love their sandwiches and the Holiday meals are fabulous. Their Thanksgiving lunch and dinner special is particularly yummy, packed with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, and cranberry sauce. Wonderful atmosphere being at the harbor! Check out this amazing spot full of warmth and charm.

When you walk in, it’s clear that it’s a locals hang out. Music is loud, people at the bar are chatting with the staff, everyone is having a good time. Service isn’t super speedy and food isn’t gormet, but if you want decent drinks and some good fish and chips or clam chowder, this is your place! Views outside are amazing as well.

Ryan

Google
It's an iconic place on the water in Dana Point with a super cool vibe and the walls decorated with all kinds of vintage art and pictures and goldfish tanks on the ceiling. Food was good and the service was too even though the lone waitress (was there twice so both times) seemed a bit overwhelmed. I had the shrimp scampi special , bottle of wine, zucchini sticks and the homemade chowder which was great. Their staple dish is Fish & Chips but it was too deep fried and breaded for my taste. The Californian Sandwich was incredible though. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Google
This is one of the coolest dive bars around. While I haven't experienced their lunch or dinner, the bar snacks were great! Wendy was our server, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. We'll definitely be back!

Google
Very reasonable priced, this place is not just for tourist but also for locals. Interior has lots of characters, I don't know American stars/ artists well so I don't know if they are famous. Just found the posters and pictures pretty cool! Staff are very nice and helpful. They will have a casual conversation with you at the bar. Didn't try the food so cannot comment on food but drinks are great!

Google
This place is horrible never coming back. Everyone seems to complain about Wendy!! She should get fired!! I came to Turks for breakfast and it was awful I ordered 2 pancakes 2 eggs and 2 bacon strips. My eggs were undercooked literally raw when I asked over medium. My pancakes tasted like baking soda. They don’t even offer you refills for coffee if they charge extra that’s fine I’ll pay. Just the fact this place is in the Marina. They should provide better quality of service and food. The salt & pepper are in glass bottles that are suppose to be recycled. Instead of having salt and pepper shakers this place is becoming frugal. Don’t recommend go to Harpoon Henry’s instead they don’t disappoint.

Yelp
My review: Chill bar with ocean view. Fun to watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. Fun Hollywood/ nautical atmosphere and good food Husband's review: dive bar that I love!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The service was horrible. The bartender was very rude. He was not happy he was here. It's thanksgiving, you can be more thankful. Would not recommend

Yelp
I've been coming to Turk's for years now and have always loved its charm. It was my grandpa's favorite place to go when we visited Dana Point and since his passing, I always loved visiting. If you're looking for a high-end vibe on the water then this isn't the place for you. The charm at Turk's is similar to the feeling of sitting on an 1850s pirate ship as the walls and tables are coated in wood. Today our bartender was named Brandon and he was a cool guy. He told us a little about the history of the restaurant and had a great sense of humor. We ate lunch before coming, so we had a few drinks and some appetizers. We ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup and Clam Chowder. The pickles that came with the dish were so good. I ended out ordering more because of how good they tasted. It was quite misty/cold outside, so the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup hit the spot. It wasn't the best Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup, but it did hit the spot. Clam Chowder is a dish that most restaurants and a lot of them don't taste too good. Turk's Clam Chowder was truly great. It was the perfect consistency and taste without being too rich. If you like a dive barish place with a simple menu, Turk's is the spot for you. The charm of this place won't ever change and thats the beauty of it. My rating is 8.5/10.

Yelp
Stopped into Turks for some lunch first off our server was amazing in menu knowledge and so very welcoming and Friendly she made our visit even better. The food was amazing we had the fish and chips and a Bowl of Clam chowder . The chowder homemade and so delicious the fish and chips very generous portions on both Homade as well cooked perfectly. The atmosphere like no others the view of the ocean all the friendly visitors . I can eat there for some days in a row . Maybe you have not been I urge to go you will like what they do and how they treat you too please support this fine establishment that brings great food at a great price as well and so good .

Raquel M.

Yelp
The service here is top notch. The view of the marina is absolutely beautiful. I appreciate the bar tender for making my Bloody Mary perfectly.

Stephane Z.

Yelp
Came to get lunch. Last time we were here the fish and chips was so good. Unfortunately today I realized that if you are not a local who comes o a regular basis don't expect to be treated like a normal paying customer. Decided to go next door for lunch instead of giving my money to a rude waitress.

Michael D.

Yelp
We were treated very rudely by the waitress, we were sitting outside and wanted to order lunch, when I went inside to ask waitress about out door dining she rudely replied 'we are only doing inside orders " I then asked if we could order takeout to which she never replied so I followed her to a table where she was dropping off drinks to ask again and she turned and said "if you're going to follow me around all day we have a problem " I simply wanted an answer to my question. Retuning to the bar I told the bartender how rude she was and the manager stepped in and started waiving and saying "bye bye" . I would never recommend this restaurant and I will never go back. Rudeness is the only thing they offered me for lunch.

Ernie H.

Yelp
Looks like they've been here forever. The patina on the wood is testament to that. I had the blackened sea bass and the fish and chips, both excellent no complaints. This is the complete opposite of trendy. You want honest food with honest prices come here.

Chris A.

Yelp
As i've previously stated, I don't get down to Dana Point often, but when I do Turk's is a must. I won't repeat what I've previously stated except to say I've never been disappointed by the food, the drink, the service, or the ambience. I usually order the New York steak, but the beef stroganoff special looked inviting, so that's what I ordered. I was glad I did. It was very good. She ordered the fish and chips and enjoyed the dish. As a side note, it's fun to stroll around the harbor, admire the boats, and listen to the sea lions barking. Long live Turk's. Cheers.

Jason M.

Yelp
Awesome food and the staff are always super friendly. Great environment and music too!

Dexter C.

Yelp
Great locals spot. Nothing fancy but, good drinks and food. If in the area and want a good drink and bar food its a must try spot.

Elle C.

Yelp
Great location and fun locals vibe! Hubby liked his French Dip: tender and tasty beef with a flavorful au jus. I'd heard about, therefore, had to order their Famous Fish & Chips; the planks were generous in size and filling -- not my favorite, though (I'd prefer a crispier batter). We had to experience Turk's after I'd heard about their "strong" drinks; the drinks were good (although we've had stronger pours). Fun, energetic crew! We look forward to returning.

Jonathon Q.

Yelp
I was recommended to this place by some friends and I am glad they did! We went on a Saturday around lunchtime and were greeted by lovable dive bar scene with lots of unique things to look at while you are there. This is a local favorite and every person of the staff that we encountered were fantastic! Their food is very good for what you would normally consider at a dive bar. I ordered the fish and chips as well as clam chowder - boy was it delicious! I usually feel slightly sick after eating fish and chips so I was hesitant but this service was a very good size and I only felt great after eating it. The clam chowder was delicious as well! Definitely stop by for food or drinks or both!

Marcy E.

Yelp
I totally recommend Turks for another holiday dinner having enjoyed the sumptuous turkey. Came with all the trimmings and delicious pumpkin pie.my husband loves fish so he ordered fish and chips , a very large portion of the freshest fish. And in a happening atmosphere. Everything very reasonably priced Will head there next week for more fish and chips and order a draft of craft beer.

Bev O.

Yelp
I frequented Turks in the 90s when I lived in DP. I love their food and atmosphere! Turk frequented his establishment back then and became a friend. I was back a few months ago, and while Turk is gone, his place is still wonderful!

David W.

Yelp
For first time in 15 years of patronizing Turk's, had a very disappointing experience. The bartenders, drinks, and table servers were excellent as always. The Thanksgiving Dinner was not up to par. My wife had the "Steak Medallion Dinner". The dressing, vegetables, mashed potatoes were good. The "steak" was nothing approaching a steak medallion as we know it. It was a disastrous flank or some cheap cut which was grisly and tough . Sauce was okay but could not disguise the poor meat quality. My Turkey Sandwich was undersized and very bland with way too much dark meat to white meat ratio. To cap it off , you ran out of Pumpkin pie. O dinner rolls either. Poorly planned and lousy provision. I'd suggest you either dump the special Thanksgiving Specials or up your game a whole bunch as this was not even close to your usual standards. We will be back as this episode was an unusual exception to the norm. But would love to hear your explanation of what happened to make this such a flop. Junior

Yelp
What an interesting restaurant/bar. The ambiance made my first time here well worth the visit. Yes, it was a bit crowded and the service was sometimes slow (though always friendly) but the place was fascinating. It was a "fun" place to eat. It's located right next to Dana Point Marina; the inside has a heavy nautical theme which includes hanging chains used on old ships; the inside walls are covered with old movie memorabilia and pictures of Turk, a "strong-man" actor in around 60 older movies. My wife and I shared fish and chips and the nightly special (Linguini with marinara and sausage). Both were very well prepared. I'll be back.

Corrine O.

Yelp
Hubby and I took a day of adventure and drove south to run into this gem. Service was good and drinks reasonable and tasty. Fun crowd at bar and great ambiance. Food was amazing!! Yum

Barbara E.

Yelp
Cheri was absolutely the best server. The fish and chips were delicious. The beef Stroganoff was great!

Sheila C.

Yelp
This place is all about the history. We enjoyed looking at all the photos they have displayed all over the restaurant. The place was packed, service was slow, but our server was very friendly. The food was average at best.

Patti B.

Yelp
Besides the cool inside with all the celebrity stuff and just cool things. We tried their fish and chips and they were so very yummy. Service great too and who can complain about the view. Had a great time. Highly recommend. Especially to out of down guests. Love it and coming back for sure. Want to try breakfast.

Susan Z.

Yelp
Always a fun time. Nothing fancy, solid cocktails, delicious food, friendly welcoming service.

Fred F.

Yelp
Let's just cut to the chase. We ordered two dishes. Blackened cod with rice and steamed vegetables. Shrimp fettuccine. The "blackened" cod was unseasoned, clearly not blackened. Rice was overcooked with carrot cubes ‍. The shrimp fettuccine was flipping pathetic. Sauce was very watery with no seasoning. The noodles were not correct fettuccine dish noodles. Noodles were doughy and tasted like soggy flour dough. The shrimp had no taste and obviously been reheated several times, it was tough as nails. Even with a knife it was difficult to cut. Literally no seasoning in any dish. Bland nursing home food at best. The "chef" should be embarrassed and fired for serving pisspoor dishes like that. I get that this place is supposed to be a local thing but let's be real folks, this place sucks! If you're going to charge these prices then you best be able to justify it with quality food and service. Ambiance is dark, dingy and loud. It's dark and covered with clutter for a reason. Turn the lights on and let's see just how filthy this place is. Waitress was just fine.

Paul S.

Yelp
Local haunt that will be affected somehow (I am sure negatively by renovation in the name of "progress" [read as civil greed {tax money}]. Very local vibe enhanced by great bartenders who really appreciate the business from customers. Bayside location brings in many tourists but steady local business keeps it going and it will be a shame to see that environment change due to progress. The food is moderately OK but expensive for what it is. The bar crew is outstanding. Brandon is key for us and some other friends and hopefully he and the others will still be around after progress puts it stamp on the harbor.

Yelp
Turks is the consummate dive bar. They have old photos, boating and fishing stuff everywhere and aquariums on the ceiling. They have a Touch Tunes music system and a few TVs. The bar is hard to find a seat at as it has the best views in the marina. Their menu is on a white board that they move around for people to see. If you want a table sign in on the paper sheet by the kitchen. Their food is solid and their fish and chips is very popular. They pour a mean drinks and have fair prices. But don't show up if you don't appreciate the nuances of a dive bar. Frank is an awesome bartender and Wendy is a cool waitress (don't piss her off though) and they both work their butts off. Great place to people watch and check out the catch when the fishermen exit the sport fishers. If you want to sit outside they have a walk up window for drink orders.

Lauraine D.

Yelp
I'm new to Dana Point and discovered this little Bar while walking my dog in the Marina. Best little place ever! The Bartender's and Wait Staff are very friendly and fun! The music is amazing and well mixed, something for everyone. This is not a pet friendly establishment, however, there is plenty of outside seating for pet owners to enjoy . I frequent Turks almost daily during my last dog walk of the day and have met the most amazing people and their pets here and have established lasting friendships with many of them. I take my friends from San Diego when they visit to Turks, they all love their Fish & Chips and Cheese Burgers and fries. If you're looking for a fun, friendly, unpretentious little bar to frequent Turks is the place Cheers

Wendy V.

Yelp
We ate here after disliking our meal at Jimmy's. It was so good. Onion rings amazing. Clam chowder is so good. Live the whole place. We will be cake for dinner.

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
The newer waitress was very rude today. Does she realize she works on tips and needs to be friendly to people? Another woman came another waitress said Turk was her dad and made a rude comment about going to Denny's if I didn't like it Money doesn't come easy to me for them to treat me rude I will go elsewhere. The food wasn't that great !

Dawn T.

Yelp
This place is a local favorite. Right next to the harbor. You can watch people get on and off the boats. You can hear and see the harbor seals. The food is good. I had the fish n chips and it was good. My husband and I split that with a chowder. That was also good. Sometimes this place is very full of patrons. It is small and service is quick and friendly. Great location! I recommend going if you want a good meal and a reasonable price. I think they have a happy hour too but I'm not 100% sure.

Dre W.

Yelp
Great service at the bar, drinks are amazing and have yet to try the food, but I will be back. Nice dive bar vibe with a good view!

K M.

Yelp
Great Burger, Great cocktails AWESOME service by our favorite gal Wendy Only thing I'd like to mention...FREE WILLY!!! The gigantic goldfish in the overhead tank by the bar is way too big!!! He needs deeper water to cruise!! Thanks Candy!!!

Amber H.

Yelp
The prices online are wrong. Everything is like $3 more than what the menu price says online. Also we got the bowl of clam chowder and when ordering it to go we were just given a small cup of it. Not that big of a deal but I was a little thrown off because the bowl they were giving to people sitting was a big bowl. The food was ok for a bar setting.

Michael W.

Yelp
Why anything other than 5 Stars is truly odd! A first rate seaside marina dive bar this is indeed! Clam chowder is a MUST. Server Lisa is the best. And the wall memorabilia!! Loved it all.

Katy S.

Yelp
Turk's is legendary! A classic and a favorite of so many generations across our coast. The food is great! The bar serves Holiday dinners, offering a place to relax and feel the love. The Thanksgiving meal is particularly fabulous, complete with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sautéed veggies mashed potatoes and gravy. Would highly recommend. The moment you walk in, you feel the warmth and all the history that comes from Turk himself. A giant who was and still is so much loved by all. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. The atmosphere of being at the wharf overlooking the harbor is the best! Check out this gem and savor the beach.

Matt D.

Yelp
I have been coming to Turks for the past 18+ years. Great local bar right in the harbor. Drinks are super reasonably priced. The place is usually packed to the on the weekend. I don't even try and go inside. Haha. They have a bar, which is awesome and the best part is you can grab a drink and walk around the harbor. If you make it inside and you wanna eat, they do have some seating although it's very limited. I've eaten there several times they have great pretty standard fair but always is tasty. If you're in the mood for a burger, Continental, it is fantastic. It's a Parmesan crusted sourdough bread. All in all really awesome spot.

Robert B.

Yelp
This place has the best bartenders!!! Large portions on food!! The best "dive" bar in Dana Point.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Stopped in at the recommendation of my wife who went the day before. We were there for breakfast. I had a Bloody Mary and the veggie omelette. Both were very good. The home style potatoes were great too. You can appreciate why Turk's has been there for a while. A great addition to our camping trip at Doheny State Beaxh! We will be back.

Denise R.

Yelp
It's a little confusing because it looks like a straight up bar, dark. Lol but once you go in behind the bar tables and the actual bar, there are some dinner tables lol come right in and take a seat and you'll be taking care of. We did have to ask because we sat outside at their little tables and no one came to greet us and that's because they were short staffed. Felt like a mom and Pop shop. Maybe it is but once we got food it was very good. Onion rings are delish and fish & chips are excellent. The coke on the other hand a little funny taste.

K S.

Yelp
We have been to Turks too many times to count! We love the servers, bartenders and food. Everyone there makes us feel so welcome, just like family! The service is always excellent!

Matthew W.

Yelp
Cool bar with nice, homey, local atmosphere. Easy going staff that don't push you out the door when you're done drinking'.

Jackie M.

Yelp
It's a very busy place but worth the wait. Turks has a welcoming environment with a beautiful view of the harbor. It reminds me of our local hangout hang out in Rosarito

Sheila B.

Yelp
Awful service. Our waitress was making fun of everything we said. Her name is Wendy and she made my family feel not welcomed and out of place. She was laughing at everything we said and when we asked to not be served by her she laughed and handed the slip over another waitress. Thankfully the waitress who took over was very nice. When I approached the bartenders later to find out if one of them is the manager, they were just as rude as Wendy. Feels like only a certain people are welcome here at least that how it felt to me and my kids. I've lived here most of my life and never went inside to eat and will NEVER go back. I'm hoping with the modernization plan and the taxes we're paying, we will have better options in the near future where no one is mistreated!

Stephen W.

Yelp
Went for breakfast on a rainy Sunday Morning, and the place was packed. It's wharf/seafarer themed that is clearly a locals' favorite. I had the eggs benedict, my wife had a traditional two eggs breakfast. Food was served very fast. And it was very tasty.

Alexis J.

Yelp
Great clam chowder, ok service. We ordered fish and chips (needed some salt) ..but, if you want some salt for the fish, plenty of it exists at the bar. Worst misogynistic conversations I have overheard in my life. Old, gross and crusty locals spewing a bunch of sexist banter about women's bodies, etc. I can tell that this would be a local spot, but it just gave me gross vibes. So, if you want to enjoy a nice meal without the horny old guy BS, go somewhere else.

Roxane S.

Yelp
We had an evening deep sea fishing trip and wanted get the kids a quick bite before getting on the boat. This was the first place we came upon. We popped in and stood around, and someone shouted to find a seat. I immediately noticed a gross smell, similar to sewage. And was questioning walking out. After about 5 mins the server came over and asked for the drinks. We ordered water. She brought our waters and walked away. My kids were immediately pulling chunks of who knows what from their cups. And the cups only had one or two ice cubes, im assuming they made waters in advance and they had been sitting. The waitress then came over with a whiteboard with a few items and asked what we wanted. At this point I just wanted to leave, we ordered 2 sides of fries and figured that was safe, but when I was ordering the waitress was super rude and condescending. She walked away and I went outside, and walked down a little bit and found a clean restaurant just past this place. I called my husband and told him to pay for the fries we ordered and bring the kids. We paid for the fries and told them to keep them. This place seems more of a dive bar for adults, not a place to stop for food in the area. If you are looking for cleanliness and friendly service, this is not the place for you.

Raider G.

Yelp
I always try not to leave a review about the taste of anything however, when three of us decide that their Bloody Mary is subpar, I think it's okay to comment. Especially at that price. The server was rather rude. Could give an example, but it would get too long. Great place to stop and have a drink and soak in the ambiance but do not recommend the high-priced food.

Vanitha C.

Yelp
Local's bar and good service. We love coming here for the lively people. Friendly bartenders too.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Z.

Yelp
Turks is the best little Bar right on the ocean watching the fishing boats go in all the great patrons including myself, love and care about the owners of Turks and all their employees

Mike W.

Yelp
Ain't what she used to be! Have been going here for decades. Since the pandemic the food service has been in steady decline. Used to make a good Reuben - but no more. The last one was full of fat and grisel. Same with the French Dip. The last one was like shoe leather. I guess the chowder, burgers and fish 'n chips are the only safe thing to order anymore. And! don't get me started on breakfast!!
