BEWARE OF UNEVEN CUT ON YOUR STEAK! I was really looking forward to enjoy a nice steak for valentine day, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The cut I received was very uneven, with more bone and fat than meat, the meat is so much thinner than the fat and bone in the photo I attached, I expect honesty and care from a professional butcher, but this experience made me question the ethics of the establishment. This was truly disheartening. Update: Yes, this was bought in-store, but your claim that steak is presented over the counter is misleading. I remember mine is held up in a distance and angle in which I could not see on the uneven cut. And cooking it felt like eating three completely different doneness of the steak because of how uneven it was. I expect better from a professional butcher.

Meat is superb! Packed very well by T&G. Ice still fully frozen upon arrival. I live 2 hours away from London and dpd did a great job delivering. Will try again in future as this is the quality of meat produce I am wanting.

I have used Turner and George several times for delivery and have always been happy with the service and food. However you can always tell how good a company is by how it deals with problems, and I had a problem with my recent order. As soon as they were made aware of the issue they contacted me to rectify the problem. When you're spending this amount of money on good meat you want to know that they have support and backup just in case there is a problem. Danny dealt with my issue promptly and efficiently. So if you're reading this and are unsure about ordering for delivery, you can order in confidence that the meat is among the best in the country and that it will be delivered perfectly and on time. Highly recommend!! I have ordered from them twice online and once in-store, and every experience has been fantastic. When I had issues with the website, they were quick to help, and when there was a mix-up with shipping, they handled it professionally. Also, the staff in the store is friendly and very knowledgeable. I had a great conversation while picking out my order. Although their online ordering is convenient, I think I will definitely be going in person next time as seeing the quality of their products in person was a great experience.

As a passionate bbq/grill/smoker enthusiast I absolutely love all things meat (and butcher) related. As such I am a massive smoked brisket fan and am particularly keen on the American style packer cut brisket! I recently came across Turner & George through Google and after liking what I saw on their website decided to give them a try. My first brisket order was a bit on the fatty side (I am fussy though) but the meat was tasty enough for me to consider a second try. So I asked for slightly leaner brisket on my next order and that is exactly what Turner & George delivered! Absolutely blown away by the result!! Seasoned it with SPG, smoked it for 12+ hours, let it rest for 4 hours and I can happily say it was the best brisket I have ever cooked! The meat quality was exceptional, the butcher prep was on point and the taste just melt in the mouth tasty! So pleased to have found a butcher that not only supplies high quality meat but actually takes on board the requirements of the customer! And their delivery service is quick and efficient too! I would highly recommend and will be placing more orders going forward!

I have recently started using Turner and George for my catering business and I have to say that it is by far the best butchers I have used in all the years I have been in the industry. The produce is exceptional, the prices are more than acceptable and the customer service is superb. As a caterer I couldn't ask for more, complete peace of mind. Also the feedback from my clients has been brilliant too. 5 stars 🌟

Absolutely lovely independent butchers shop! Although the prices are a little steep, the produce is extremely high quality and all the meat is delicious! There is also a stunning selection of deli produce ranging from fresh mushrooms to pates, cheeses and even beers! I especially recommend the dry aged Spanish ex-dairy beef- it’s incredible! The only thing I would say, is, even if you buy a bone in steak, take out the bone- steaks are always better without it.

By far the best and most accessible online butcher around. Excellent quality meat with a good price and a really large selection. Delivery options are good and you can direct the butcher to do what you require which is usually always followed very well. Butchers dogs are unreal and nothing like I have had before. Great meat selection available for smoking such as a full packer brisket which is near impossible to get from butchers usually without plenty of advanced notice. Big selection and everything is always in stock. Meat comes well packed and with ice packs that last a while.

I have to say, I always LOVED the quality of products from this butchers. But what really made me come on here was the customer service I received when a mistake was made by the delivery company on some products I had bought online. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They now have themselves a regular customer and promoter. Highly recommend.

Absolutely shocking online delivery service. Completely disorganised, rude and unprofessional. The number of times orders have not been delivered or incorrectly delivered is appalling. The service used to be very good but must be under the management of someone else now who simply doesn't care about customers. Despite the catalogue of errors, if you do eventually manage to get through to speak to someone on the phone (you have to ring the shop as online number never answer the phone or reply to emails) you will get a "not our problem" attitude from shop staff. The meat itself was always pretty good but its not cheap, recently though that standard too has dropped with vacuum packed steaks arriving slightly brown...such a shame as I would no longer recommend T&G to anyone who wants reliable meat delivered. I have had many occasions ruined completely by deliveries messed up and on top of that, never do you receive any compensation or real apology, in one instance I was actually shouted at by a member of their staff on the phone who said it was nothing to do with them as they work in the shop. Clearly this is a business riding on the coat tails of the name and reputation, totally complacent and arrogant. I suspect the staff are overworked and underpaid, with poor management. They seem to be letting the sales team drive a volume of orders that they can't deliver and expecting a small team to be able to manage the demand which they can't consistently do. If you are going to place yourself as a high end butcher you need to have a higher standard of customer service. Expecting customers to pay through the nose for Ryanair level of service is naive. The business is probably generating good margins for now with this approach but I imagine in 5 years customers will have voted with their feet to find a better alternative. It's a shame given that the problems are all very basic fundamentals and the actual butchers themselves will pay the price through no fault of their own. I hope the owners wake up and make the investment needed to save the business because the country needs businesses like this to succeed, where a fair price is paid for good quality food. I can't emphasise it enough, the blame lies squarely with the owners and senior management. Staff are only human and they shouldn't be expected to perform miracles!

First of all, they sold me badly butchered, overly fatty lamb shoulder. I was making a stew for guests - one I'd made before successfully with lamb from other butchers - and couldn't serve it for dinner as there were huge, unappetising chunks of fat on the meat. Lamb shoulder has more fat than other cuts - I know how to cook it - but this was unusually fatty and just not properly prepared. I could kick myself for going here instead of heading down to Smithfield Butchers, who are real pros - the most experienced and best value place I know - but Angel is more convenient. I used to sometimes go to M&R meats, which was a good, serious butcher now sadly gone and replaced by the gentrifying flashiness of Turner & George. This place is totally style over substance. The lamb was over £12 a kilo, compared to £9.90 at Smithfield Butchers. Lastly, when I went back to let them know how fatty and poorly butchered their lamb was, they were not only unhelpful but positively rude. I have learned my lesson, and I'd advise all other Islington meat lovers to avoid Turner & George and go down to one of the butchers in Smithfield, where you can get great advice, excellent meat, and fantastic value - it's completely worth the short extra trip.

Loving my local butcher! This place (formerly M&R meats) is a very cool place. When I went in to order my turkey they had an awesome sample plate of their meats and were serving up a wine that they had made. So yes, butcher, winemaker and saucemaker! The staff was awesome--really helpful, friendly, modern and cool. The cuts of meat looked divine and on their bookshelf are books like the Pitt Cue cookbook. I thought it might be a chain, but it is a one-off. I hope people will support this local business--I certainly will. Oh, and the free range turkey they got for me was delcious.

Expensive and poor quality. Went here with high hopes as they provide Hix with their beef..All I can say is that they must give them all their best cuts as I bought a porterhouse which was cut crooked and the sirloin side was full of gristle and cartilege. I also bought a rib of beef which turned out to be a rib roast (virtually no bone) which again was full of gristle. Staff consisted of a yiung guy who obviously didn't know what he was doing and an older bearded guy who was Mr Grumpy. At £22/24 a kg this was a proper old fashioned rip off. Never again....

Great place. They do whole animal butchery, so they are able to cater to the slow food and nose-to-tail movements. I'm able to but their odd cuts and offal at a reasonable price as well as their more conventional cuts.Their website is easy to use. If I had a complaint, their staff seem a bit surly, but Im not there for the conversation.

A bit disorganized but quiet fair. It seemed like they forgot my order and almost ruined my Easter lunch. After a while they found out they sent the order to another store and that's why they couldn't find it. Sort it out easily and happy and satisfied about what i ordered.

I'm sure Turner and George probably have good meat - however, I for one won't be finding out. After an absolute farce and catalogue of errors on my on-line order (which I was blamed for, despite the fact I can categorically state the errors were not mine), I eventually received the burgers 3 days late - after they sat in an unrefrigerated warehouse over a summer's weekend - as a bag of stinking goo. I received a refund, but no real apology for the late delivery (despite having to go to my own time and expense at the last minute replacing the missing burgers with inferior local supermarket burgers to feed the guests I'd specifically asked over for a BBQ), and not even an offer to re-do the order. Simply a refund and goodbye. I'll be looking elsewhere in future.
