Hidden gem. Great place to stop for a quick meal. Fresh made from scratch food served cafeteria style. Soups, salads and great entrees. The lasagna was delicious. Pasta cooked perfectly. Great healthy options. They have fresh sushi as well. Stop by in the morning for a great sausage biscuit or breakfast burrito. Bring your cup because you didn't want to miss the fresh coffee. If you're looking for something light, they have a great juice/smoothie bar. They have an incredible selection of grocery items and personal care products. If you're wanting to grab some items for a picnic or BBQ, they have you covered as well. I was surprised as the selection in this small store. Super Leaves is the best all natural deodorant I've ever used and I first found it at this store. The best thing about the store IMO is the caring, friendly and helpful staff. Everyone was just so friendly and go out of their way to help and look out for you.

Google
Used to be a good place. But the last several times I’ve been, the sandwiches are nasty and never get made the same way, people are there sometimes to make stuff and sometimes not. The quality in that deli used to be much better before the Nashville boom started… It’d be nice if they took more pride in their food like they used to..Nobody wants a sandwich that practically has been set on and smashed flat before being served..used to have the best chicken salad.. nope not anymore

Google
I was looking for a quick, delicious snack for the road and some coconut water. The Turnip Truck came through. This is such a charming and necessary asset for the Gulch; I hope it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Thanks for giving this vegetarian a spot to grab some sustenance while i was in town. See you soon 🛻

Google
It's pricey but they always have what you need! Staff are always super nice and location is super convenient. The pre-made sushi is good as well as the breakfast burritos (go early).

Google
My family loves the Turnip Truck!! I remember on our first day in Nashville we were looking for a place to grab a smoothie.. After a quick search we found this place and it became one of our favorite places to grab fresh produce and healthy food.. It’s not as cheap as Trader Joe’s but it’s not as expensive as Whole Foods.. The staff here has always been pleasant and helpful in our experience.. There’s another location in East Nashville that is quite a bit larger than this store, but being located in the Gulch makes this place a super convenient option for healthy foods and supplies if you anywhere near the downtown area.. Their hot bar and salad bar are pretty fresh and I’ve often been happy just grabbing something on the run.. The juice and smoothie bar is always willing to let you customize your drink.. I’ve found many great sales and deals on supplements here too!!

Google
So grateful this bountiful grocery store is within walking distance from where we stay in the Gulch! It’s filled with delicious healthy foods and juice bar! Employees are so friendly and knowledgeable! Small town feel with superior products!

Google
Amazing choices of high quality food! Always super clean, very friendly and always in stock! Their smoothies and food bar is amazing too! It’s like Trader Joe’s… but way better! ❤️

Yelp
Cute little market with kind employees. Walkable area with cute shops and restaurants nearby. Paid parking.

Yelp
I was a Turnip Truck girlie in my early 20s living in East Nashville, coming here today gave me so much nostalgia! I rarely make visits now due to distance/convenience, but it's such a treat and makes me want to make monthly trips here! The juice/smoothie bar, hot bar, groceries, health/beauty, and local gift items are all excellent quality! It's fresh, organized well, and enjoyable to come and dine in (or at one of their outdoor tables) for lunch or grab something to go! Staff are kind and helpful if you have questions. Parking is limited in this area, but thankfully I came at a laid back time.

Yelp
This store was very clean and had a lot of healthy (and local) options! Has a hot food bar, deli, and smoothie bar. It reminded me of Mother's Market back in Cali. Has some good options for alternative snacks, dairy, etc. A little small, but has everything you could need in terms of a store. A little on the higher end depending on the product; they do have certain things on promotion. I walked here, but from what I observed the parking situation could be a little difficult. The location is nice and central to other places/businesses.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - More local souvenirs for our friends and family. My wife and daughter are always so thoughtful, always thinking of others, etc. My contribution is that I get to carry it all... We noticed all the locals buying their lunch here. To eat here and taking it to-go. Atmosphere - Cool small local market. Actually of pretty decent size. Farm to market...? Indoor and outdoor seating. Good selection of local beers also. This business reminded me of Berkeley Bowl in CA. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm. Clean restroom. Service - Good. Price - $8. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2001 and with your three locations.

Scott C.

Yelp
Health food shoppers - this is the place to go. Everything I buy is organic or sourced with good ingredients and I'm a picky shopper. I don't look at the price tag but I rarely come out of there with unreasonable bills. The meat quality is what you want, though the inventory is not always high. The one off 12th is by far worth the trip. People I've talked to are worried that they don't have enough inventory to make a meal. Incorrect. I often go into the one on 12th and get 3-5 dinners worth of food without having to go to Whole Foods. And easy parking.

Yelp
All reviews from 5-6 years ago are irrelevant. This place is under new management with price gouging being its core. There's nothing inherently special about "local products" when there is Nashville farmer's market 5 mins away. Hot foods went up in price because of course inflation... It's nice inside and relaxing except the prices will change your mind. The license plate camera is also a nice touch!
google avatar

Yelp
Good quality grocery but very very expensive for ordinary stuff!! For a college student its nearly unaffordable!!
google avatar

Yelp
Need more produce but location is great. Customer service is great as well. Main reason goin there
google avatar

Youssef A.

Yelp
So it's definitely not Whole Foods or any of these mega stores but since there are a few grocery stores in the area I would say this is a nice place. I went to the restroom and I ate some carrots at this place because I need some veggies in my stomach to stay healthy. Clean restroom and clean place. And they do have a parking.

Yelp
The Turnip Truck custom made my surprise birthday cake and it was *INCREDIBLE*!!! Best carrot cake I've ever tasted! They were so sweet texting and calling my boyfriend to make it just right and special. Shared it with a table of strangers at Hops + Crafts next door! Everyone loved it!

Yelp
This local health food grocer has a couple of outlets, and this is the most downtown-y of them. As such places go, it's not huge, but it did have an interesting selection and some nice local items. As a traveler, I wanted only a beverage and found a nice sparkling tea on sale, a sale which didn't ring up (and with people behind me in line, I didn't haggle over the small amount of money). It would be hard to feed oneself exclusively off of a place like this, but worth checking it out.
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
It's like the mom and pop of Whole Foods. Located in the Gulch area of Nashville, this cute natural foods grocery was perfect for picking up the couple things I needed. as well as a salad. Grabbed myself and my hubby a organic pressed juice from their juice bar. The lady helping me was super friendly and if I lived in Nashville I'd definitely shop there.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
My favorite little neighborhood spot! Reminds me so much of the food co-op in my college town :) they have a sandwich and smoothie bar inside which is nice for a convenient lunch as well as a salad bar! Lots of healthy choices and also products from local companies which is always fun! It's small but has most everything you need. Everyone who works there is so friendly and I love popping for supplies in between grocery trips as well as picking up a quick lunch or snack.

Ashun W.

Yelp
I bought a Veggie Burrito of the Day and it had Chicken in it. This was only the second time I got one so I expect others have likely dealt with the same issue. With so many places to eat in Nashville I chose the turnip truck, but I won't be coming back after that nasty mistake. They gave me a refund for it, but it was pretty disgusting to eat meat for the first time in 5 years...
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great organic/nature shop near the hotel where we stayed. Everything was a little pricey though. It really reminded me of Whole Foods or Trader Joes without the commercial feeling. They had a large selection of kombucha. We even found pink apple, which was actually pink inside.
google avatar

Journey M.

Yelp
convenient small health food store with hot food and some essentials. not a huge variety, but this is the only place in nash i've found to have certain supplements and "health food" supplies.

Bob S.

Yelp
The Turnip Truck has a great selection of prepared foods and healthy options. Also, I get a lot of helpful supplements from there. Although, I am not too fond of information tables outside the business. I am looking to sit down and eat or get out for a quick purchase.

Yelp
Rude treatment. Far less items in stock than the one on Woodland Street. I'm a healthcare worker, doing 12 hr shifts 6 days/wk..... I took one day off for a doctors appt and to cram errands. I only needed ONE thing (a condiment) from behind the bar in the deli and everyone in the store was on slow motion, relaxing, hanging out. Only one other customer in the store. Employee at the deli was taking a very long, relaxing time helping a customer. After 10+ min I asked the lady at the cash register (very politely) if someone could help me for a second. She said, "Yeah, him" with a fake smile, obviously knowing that I had already been waiting for a while. So I put everything back and left. I'll never be back to that store. I can't imagine what they're like with more than 2 customers in there. Sheesh ‍

Kelley H.

Yelp
Just popped in on a sleepy Sunday morning to stock the office fridge with fun snacks. The staff was amazing and helpful. Their friendliness set me off for a good day. The place is so chill and cozy. Like a neighborhood market from when I was growing up.
google avatar

Neel S.

Yelp
They are similar to Whole Foods but smaller and even more focused on having the best stuff. I've really enjoyed their ready-made food so far and absolutely loved their selection of frozen or packaged foods. All made from necessary natural ingredients and they really care about their environmental impact. It's very progressive and modern with a welcoming vibe. I don't think it will be my full replacement for a big grocery store but as a local mart, I'm so pleased!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this little co-op style grocery store in Downtown Nashville. Their salad and hot food bar is great; not only are the selections super healthy *and* flavorful, but they mark almost everything with ingredients and allergens. They also have a large selection of pre-packaged takeaway options, including various proteins and salads. Their grocery selection is good too; they have a lot of natural and organic foods. Prices are pretty reasonable for this kind of food. There's a small indoor eating area in addition to one on the deck out front. It looks like a certain national competitor that sells this same kind of food (and has a green logo) is opening up just down the street, but based on the yummy food, good prices, and friendly staff, I would encourage everyone to consider shopping here!

Emma D.

Yelp
I went to The Turnip Truck and this is one of my very favorite organic grocery stores. The selection is wonderful and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. I love going in to see what new products I can find that I can only find there. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it.

Yelp
The Turnip Truck is fantastic but pricey. I stopped in for dinner at the salad bar, and had 2 days worth of food to enjoy for right under $15.00. Not too bad! The salad fixings are not extensive, but they are very fresh and tasted excellent (I also was there late on a Sunday, so I'm sure time of day had something to do with it). Plus I loved the cold mixed salad items like the couscous, tabouli, and spinach pasta. Try the hot bar too, I snuck a couple bites from my BF and it was excellent! The juice/smoothie bar is lovely and overall this is an adorable market for specialty items. However, expect to spend a bit more than what you are used to. Think of it as a designer grocery store!

Michelle B.

Yelp
Not only does this store have the tastiest and healthiest options, but they also have the best service! I was running late to a dinner had to pick up only chips and an onion and I was met with nothing but kindness by the employees while they helped me with what I needed!
google avatar

Bridget M.

Yelp
I decided to come here and check out their offerings just to try something new. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed. Their items are extremely overpriced. A carton of almond milk that might cost me anywhere from $2-$3 at grocery stores was over $4 here. A little too pricey for me. I did however find a delicious cheese dip that I've purchased in the past from one of the local farmers markets, so the trip wasn't a complete bust! Probably wouldn't come here again though.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
So impressed with their assortment of dairy-free options, ingredient labeling, and hot and cold food bar. Small space to eat-in and outdoor patio in good weather. The location in the Gultch is so convenient. Upscale, local vibe, and they likely have what you need.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I needed a quick yet healthy meal to hold us over and we were on a time crunch. Found this place 30 min before they closed and was able to get full off a decent salad bar. It's a fraction of the size of a Whole Food's salad bar but it still does the job. I was a little bummed their soups were already pulled out, but understandable being they were so close to closing time. Overall, this is a cozy neighborhood health food market and a nice change from the large corporate grocery stores around. I love supporting the little guys!

Megan C.

Yelp
In town for the week, needed a few things for my stay at my VRBO. This grocery store was the closest to me. Very limited options. It was 5pm when I went, all hot items were no longer out... the salad bar had not been resupplied. The pre made salads in the deli had browned and looked slimy on the lettuce on the bottom. Literally bought raspberries and blueberries... nothing else.

Mrs Y.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place to shop! They have all the essentials and is in a great location. Very laid back environment.
google avatar

Yessenia M.

Yelp
My home away from home! I spent many layovers here and Nashville is full of southern delicacies but the turnip truck gives me my healthy dose of food. This is your local healthy store and what makes it more special is the personnel that work here. They are all wonderful and super nice. Patton at the juice station was great when preparing my fresh squeezed OJ! They always have different items in their menu in the hot station, their salad bar, hot soups and even sushi! This is a small version of Whole Foods but better as it is small and located in the gulch area which is by far my favorite of Nashville!
google avatar

Madeline A.

Yelp
Loved the extensive vegan options! Coming from Ohio where we don't have stores like this, it was super fun to browse all the products that I constantly hear about but never have gotten to try! I bought a bunch of little snacks to try, but I wish I had tried the hot/cold bar foods they have. Might try and go back before I leave Nashville, at the very least to get more snacks ;)
google avatar

Yelp
Great grocery with natural organic items!!! The juicery offers great juices and smoothies!!! I highly recommend! Plus parking is free!
google avatar

Amye K.

Yelp
The Turnip Truck is a great place to grab snacks, a few groceries, or a meal from the hot bar if you're downtown. I usually arrive on foot, but they have free 1 hour parking, which is most appreciated in the Gulch. I love having breakfast here after a run or walk. It's an economical alternative to Nashville's excellent selection of spendy brunch places, and you don't feel obligated to shower and get presentable before eating in their super casual dining area. The store itself is small, but they have a serviceable selection of natural foods, supplements, meats, cheeses, and produce. I agree with a previous reviewer that the produce department can be kind of thin. If you're a Whole Foods or even Trader Joe's kind of person but don't want to schlep down to Green Hills and deal with traffic and parking, you will find most anything you could want at the Turnip Truck.
google avatar

Nathan J.

Yelp
A literally cornucopia abounds here at Nashville's most turnip themed vegetable and item store. Legend has it that back in the late 80s the owners grandfather would sell turnips out of an old farm truck to anyone who knew how to eat them. The store is an homage to his legacy. They take cherished care of each fancy and delicious ingredient they sell.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
We were staying at Thompson Nashville Hotel and I was craving peach cobbler one evening. We checked out several restaurants to no avail. We then decided to check out the Turnip Truck. It's a beautiful little organic grocery store and we found the most delicious peach cobbler. The Gulch has it all.

B. P.

Yelp
Health food store with a kitchen too. Quickly grabbed a sushi roll, piece of salmon & orzo for little more than cost of fast food in same amount of time. Parking is free for customers right in front of door which is nice in the gulch. Would recommend & visit again
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Stellar selection, great staff, and absolutely guilt free shopping. I don't get 100% of my groceries here, but I stop in every now and then for some specialty goods!
google avatar

Doug W.

Yelp
Like a mini whole foods if you're familiar. Place is pretty awesome, one issue I have though is keeping the fish in the same case with the meats.... No no no. Bad form. Hot food and smoothies both seem pretty popular. Prices are in line with other high end spots and the produce looks well worth it.
google avatar

Athena P.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for an in-and-out lunch! The Turnip Truck has such a wide selection of foods, including a salad bar, a soup station with 4-5 choices, and several other food options. I usually load my to go box up with a bunch of different foods, and I've never been disappointed. There's also groceries, which I don't have experience with, but I'm sure everything in there is great because it's known for its healthy options! There's an inside and outdoor area to sit when you want to eat, which is awesome! There's also a juice bar here. I've loved every juice I've had here, as well!
google avatar

Yelp
It's all about the salad bar and carryout options at this 2nd location for the Turnip Truck family! As much as I ADORE the 5 Points location near my home, the options for quick and easy lunch or dinner may be worth an extra couple of miles. This location is certainly larger and offers up a roomy indoor and outdoor seating where you may dine or plug away on your laptop. My friend and I visited for lunch a couple of weeks ago and hit up the fresh and expansive salad/hot bar as if it was our last mean on earth. Prices were fair and comparable to what you may spend at Whole Foods. There were several vegetarian/vegan options for me to salivate over which made me an even bigger fan! The produce selection is also more robust here than the 5 points location which is one of the very few faults of that location. Just when I didn't think that I could fall in more love with Turnip Truck, I receive 2 emails that made me get butterflies in my stomach again. The first email was soliciting for volunteers to help with the Edgehill Community Garden. I love the fact that this company invests time/energy/fund to help improve Nashville neighborhoods. In each monthly newsletter, they also promote finding homes for homeless animals with EastCan.org. If TT can invest in improving Nashville then why can't we bypass the other Big Box natural foods grocers and show them some love back? Chew on that. The second email promoted their catered Thanksgiving dinner packages which included a vegan option for just $14 a person! That is less than what I would have spent anyway. My mouthwatering order includes the following: Field Roast w/ Mushroom Gravy, Quinoa w/ Chestnuts and Cranberries, Citrus Ginger Glazed Root Vegetables, Green Beans w/ Crispy Shallots I also added a vegan Waldorf Spinach Salad for $12 that is advertised as feeding up to 4 individuals. You may also add on dessert options to your order...DANGER. If you haven't popped into either one of the Turnip Trucks, give it a whirl. I personally couldn't imagine my life in Nashville without them!

Yelp
We went to this store to purchase snacks and cereal to keep in our hotel room. They had a lot of what we were looking for, but I wish they had more fruit available. Maybe it was just the time of the day/week that we went, but I had hoped for more options. Other than that, we were happy with out purchases. Also, the salespeople were friendly. If we return to Nashville, we would shop here again.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Turnip Truck is cute but not overwhelmingly amazing. The reason I don't give it more stars is that it is half grocery store and half food prep/restaurant. It doesn't really excel in either of these categories, to my mind. The groceries were a little expensive, the food on the good side of fine but not better. But, if this is what you need, then I can see this being the best part of your day. I ate a fried chicken biscuit and some butternut squash soup. Both were solid -- not great, not underwhelming, just solid. Their chicken salad was also good -- an important note since chicken salad can be so polarizing.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
This is your best option in the city/downtown area for groceries. Located in the middle of the Gulch, there is a small free parking lot for customers. This store is a bit smaller and not quite as nice as the one in East Nashville, but it's definitely better than any other grocery store (including Whole Foods). Many fresh, local options for breakfast and lunch, to-go salad, soup etc. Almost the entire store is organic food and lots made in house daily (bread). You may pay a little more, but it's worth it for the quality of the food. They have everything you need food wise for a week of groceries.

Yelp
Juice time! I decided to reboot my health with a day-long juice fast. Of course that had to start at the Turnip Truck not only because of their awesome concoctions but because I don't own a juicer. Supporting the local economy, right? Really, it wasn't that bad at all. I decided to purchase two juices (one for breakfast and one for lunch). The first, The Doug Funny. I am a child of the 90's and fondly remember Doug's love of beets. Well picture that with a hunk of other vegetables and there you go. I was truly surprised at how savory this juice came out. Juice fast or not, I'm a believer. In channeling my childhood, I selected the Mr. Rogers as my #2 juice of the day. For 2 juices it came out to about $14. If I can make a suggestion, ask for them to add ice. Juice is much tastier cold. Overall, Turnip Truck prices are competitive with what I've observed at Whole Foods or even at the illustrious "organic" section at Kroger. I can't wait to go back and get a muffin they bake right in the store (I was tantalized by the glazing process that occurred while I waited for my juice).

Yelp
Let me start by saying I'm from Portland, OR. Finding local/organic food is almost easier than finding non where I'm from. Nashville isn't like that, and I respect that. But that doesn't mean I didn't immediately google search trader Joe's/whole foods/sprouts/farmers markets when I first got here. Turnip Truck was exactly the kind of place I was looking for and only a 15 minute walk from the Westin. I stopped in today to grab lunch and nearly passed out from the humidity and it isn't even as bad as it was the other day with the storm! I couldn't tell if I had actually found local/organic/GMO free produce and groceries or if the heat had melted my brain to the point of delusion! What a welcomed sight--fried food and mayo have their place but my goodness I was beginning to fear I'd die of congestive heart failure if I didn't eat something not made with butter/lard/bacon. Turnip Truck to the rescue!! I snagged a giant sparkling lime water, some non mayo based pasta salad, and a sandwich---all for less than $6! The only downside is I can't seem to get my water to open...but perhaps I'll find someone who pities me and will help me out.

Yelp
I was glad to find this place - I've been looking for a place with a good selection of natural products in Nashville for a while. Pros: - Loved the food bars! A great variety, and everything I tried had great flavor. I also LOVED that they offered vegan, vegetarian, AND meat options. - Good selection of natural products - Clean, bright store Con: - It still had a grocery story-like feel. I love the places that have a wide variety of local products that are clearly homemade small "businesses". - The employees were OK. No one reached out to me at the deli, and the cashier wasn't very friendly. Again, I really like places where the staff seem passionate about the store and products. Conclusion: I will definitely be going back often to pick up ready-made dinners and snacks. I'll also know this is a place when I can buy natural products.

Yelp
Marcia M. I've finally made my pledge of re-trying Turnip Truck and I have changed my mind. I tried the deli counter while my visiting sis tried the hot bar. My opinion of it changed, and probably because we showed up earlier than 30 minutes to closing. I tried the roast beef panini and got a side of the potato salad. The panini was tasty, with a nice warm/cold combination. The potato salad was also a smooth, cool side to the sandwich. My meal came to 11 bucks with a bottle of tea/lemonade. My sister tried their hot bad, where she got the spaghetti and meat sauce with a side of kale-that's the nice thing about the plate you can pick and choose what they have to offer. The spaghetti was really good, you would think something coming off from a steam tray would be terrible but the sauce was light and fresh and the noodles were fresh and al dente. She got her plate with a bottle of white tea for a little over 6 bucks. Their sandwich was good with a side and drink it was a little pricey. However, their hot bar choice is good and very easy on the wallet. I am a fan, yay!

Yelp
I had an early lunch today on Christmas eve from work, so I thought...The Turnip Truck Urban Fare is not far from my office....so winner winner, chicken dinner...they were open..so I parked in the rain in their private parking lot ((( a real plus in the Gulch area)) and ran in..They have a salad bar, a hot bar with 5 different soups...fresh fruit and veggies on the bar. Also a deli section where they can cut the meat and cheeses fresh and make you sandwiches. They also have a variety of salads in the showcase and some pre-made sammies to choose from. I ordered my sandwich...whole wheat with Roast Beef and Provolone cheese with Chipotle mayo, lettuce tomatoes onions and cucumbers..I wish they had had some spinach or kale instead of the lettuce..but hey...it was all good!!! While waiting for my food to be made to order, I perused the shelves and found a few other goodies I needed for my home kitchen... my sandwich was ready so I went to the check out and paid for my treasures... I would definitely go here again...next time some nice hot soup would hit the spot. My sandwich was very good and I enjoyed it back at my desk in the office...

Yelp
I love this grocery store. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I cannot leave with everything I need on my shopping list. I first came about the Turnip Truck when I moved to the gultch. I would go when I randomly forgot something at the store. However, now I go at least twice a week for all of my meat purchases. I am my mothers daughter and very picky about the meat I buy. I love when I buy the meat at TT it is packaged that day. How much fresher can you get?!?
