24 Sweet Tooth–Satisfying Bakeries in Denver - Eater Denver

"With a bubbly retro atmosphere and a sweet-as-pie staff, this new Ballpark parlor specializes in its namesake: fat, flaky turnovers for breakfast and lunch. Selections like the Chicken Pot Pie and the Greek with spinach, egg, dill, and feta come with a choice of sauces, including tomatillo salsa and asiago gravy; also lining the counter are daily-baked sweet treats ranging from tea breads to sour cream coffee cake." - Eater Staff

Very charming cafe with delicious food & great service! The decor is so quirky and fun. We got the karma turnover, a white Russian and iced coffee and everything was so fresh and tasty. The red pepper sauce that the turnover came with is to die for! The owner and staff was very fun to chat with and very considerate. Would highly recommend!

I'm usually not a pastry for breakfast guy, but Turnover, Darling may have changed that. The main event are the turnovers, basically flaky pastry crust with different fillings. They have tons of other pastries as well, I just wish I had more stomach room to try them all. We split three breakfast pastries and a slice of coffee cake. I could drone on about all the details of each, but all you need to know is everything tasted incredible. Everything is homemade and you can taste the difference, no mass production flavors here! They also have lunch style turnovers such as chicken pot pie, patty melt, and plenty others. Can't wait to get back and try those out! The ambiance is very cool as well, making you feel like you've stepped back in time a little. Definitely fits in great with the downtown denver scene. Give it a try, it will not disappoint!

Drove past here once before, but had the chance to stop last weekend- best decision ever! The variety of drinks and turnovers made it easy to pick something tasty, the atmosphere is fun, and I want to say that each and every single person who was working, said good morning. Great customer service.

Ordered take out of the egg, cheese, scallion, and sausage turnover with asiago gravy AND wow, it was an unexpectedly delicious breakfast treat. The exterior of a chicken pot pie/croissant meets the insides of an empanada. Simply amazing. Also tried out the cheesecake chocolate chip cookie which was also spectacular. Highly recommend and will definitely pass by again. Only downside is price - a bit high for the amount of food you get ($9 for a turnover).

This is some of the best pastry I have had since being in Denver! It is flaky, buttery, and soft all at the same time. Turnover Darling makes some tasty turnovers. Each one comes with a sauce. I had the French turnover with Adobo sauce. The flavors were bold and savory in the pastry. The decor is super fun! They have multiple prints on the walls and a fun tile service bar. Check this place out if you like pastry, flavor, tea, coffee, and good energy. 10/10 would recommend 🌟

I drove by this place on my way to work and immediately drove around the block to stop in. I love a good bakery and prefer muffins and pastries to donuts or bagels and I had a department meeting that morning. I’m so glad I stopped in! This place is so charming and a wonderful selection of sweet and savory items! The service was top notch! I went away with some butter muffins, pumpkin bread, and apricot bars. OMG they were delicious!! My co-workers loved them too! I would highly recommend this place and I’m going to have to go back and try a turnover.

Great place, amazing pies, highly recommend to everyone who likes pies. The coffee is great too, and the interior is beautiful. It's a great place to spend your lunch time and enjoy a great view out of the windows.

Turnover Darling is a MUST visit. The breakfast turnovers are made to perfection, flaky and buttery. It is located in the former Hi Rise Bakery at the corner of 22nd and Larimer. The interior has been creatively redesigned and the names of menu items will make you chuckle. The owner is so creative and brilliant with everything he does. I'm confident it will be a 5 star visit for you too.
