"When Turtle Gut opened in 2022, the airy cafe boosted Wildwood’s coffee scene dramatically. Go for your morning cortado made with the gleaming Slayer espresso machine, and stay for breakfast—the short menu includes ricotta pancakes, housemade donuts, and mascarpone vanilla cream-filled maritozzi. For lunch, there’s avocado toast and sandwiches on sliced sourdough from Philly-based Mighty Bread Co. But that’s not the only slice of Philly you’ll find here. The cafe also hosts pop-up dinners with buzzy Philly chefs, as well as its own Cioppino Nights, with a set menu featuring fried zucchini blossoms and local seafood. The tables they set up outside have a prime view of Turtle Gut Park and Sunset Lake, especially at (duh) sunset." - regan stephens, candis mclean, sydney mcelwee

Hey Planet Earth

Google
Just visited this cute lil cafe and was really impressed! We got iced lattes, the price is fair and the drinks very good! Enough quality espresso and plenty of milk options! The service was nice and the ladies running it very kind. I love all the turtle themed stuff! I would definitely recommend this especially if you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere by the bay!

Google
Legitimately the best coffee of the shore, great service and last but not least their baked goods are delicious! Delicious breakfast choices, the burritos ( real Mexican ones) are to die for, with handmade tortillas! Great vibe, the owners are an amazing couple, so friendly and welcoming! Turtle guy is an absolute must when coming to Wildwood.

Google
Loved the breakfast here! Good coffee, great atmosphere, location and staff. Hoping to be back soon. The ricotta toast was wonderful

Google
Great espresso and the breakfast sandwich is excellent. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the owner is engaging! Great place for getting work done under the pergola outside or enjoying the view of the water.

Can’t say enough good things about this shop. Finding good coffee in Wildwood has been nearly impossible until now. If you’re looking for really high quality specialty coffee, this is the spot. The breakfast sandwiches are just the right amount of everything. The donuts and maritozzo are exceptional and a big hit with my toddler. Very family friendly and the owners and staff are lovely and so hospitable. They also have a great selection of retail items that you can’t find everywhere. Will be back anytime we’re in Wildwood!

Google
Great little spot right across from Sunset Lake. Really good and different menu items as well as something as simple as an egg sandwich, but incredibly flavored and well cooked.

Google
LOVE that there is such a great coffee shop in the Crest! Turtle Gut has great iced lattes, donuts and a bangin’ breakfast sandwich. Interior is light and airy and across from Sunset Lake, which makes the view impeccable. They’re also doing pop up dinners this summer with different chefs from different restaurants throughout the region. 👌🏻✨☕️

Google
Incredible coffee and high quality, small bites in a gorgeous setting directly across from sunset lake. Comfortable seating indoors or outside with gracious owners that were happy to answer our many questions. They even taught us about the Battle of Turtle Gut (hence the interesting name). We had Cortado lattes and Melon & Prosciutto Di Parma Salad with Saba drizzle and smoked Maldon sea salt. Ummm YUM! It’s a small family shop so make sure to check the hours or drive by to see if they’re open first. Then STOP IN and treat yo’ self!! You’ll be happy you did.

Yelp
Nice little coffee/breakfast cafe in a quiet residential neighborhood across the street from Sunset Lake. Coffee was fresh brewed and rich, tasty, not the usual brown water swill you get from a diner. Breakfast menu was kinda limited so i opted for the breakfast sandwich - egg and cheese on a potato roll. The food is farm fresh and made to order, but $10 for an okay-but-not-mind-blowing basic sandwich is kinda excessive. But the staff is super friendly, cheerful and all smiles and the atmosphere is very kick-back, very relaxed with a bunch of outdoor tables and a couple inside - spot on for a beachy area. I'll be back for the coffee but probably not the food.

Nola S.

Yelp
The avocado toast and cortado were wonderful! Not pictured was the breakfast sandwich which had some of the best bacon I've had. Love that the food is made to order! A really great addition to wildwood and the only place I'll go for quality espresso drinks down the shore.

Yelp
First off, absolutely adorable cafe. They have a cute little seating area and a shop with sustainable goods! My mom bought the pistachio almond butter and some spices to go. Staff is super friendly and answered every question we had. My mom loved her cappuccino, peep the photo for the cute milk design. My coffee was okay- I get the same order at every single shop I go to so I can compare/it's my favorite. I would say it was average tasting, a little too watery/skim-milky for my liking. We got their special, vanilla filled maritozzis for a treat- the filling was delicious!! I wish the filling was in every bite of the whole donut. This is a very cute spot, would recommend!

Yelp
Ordered a cold brew, waited a few minutes, then was told they actually don't have any and offered me a latte which I did accept. It was delicious, but just strange to not have any cold brew at 8:30am on a week day. The prices for breakfast sandwiches are outrageous ($11 on a potato roll) considering what you're getting and compared to other spots on the island, so I skipped the food. Probably would only stop here for coffee again, because it WAS incredible.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at Turtle Gut after hearing rave reviews from my friends! I wound up getting the Morty, which is served on sourdough from one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. It was a solid 10/10. Their coffee and matcha was jaw dropping. I got the blueberry in mine and you could tell it was a homemade syrup. Unfortunately we ordered before they closed so we didn't get to enjoy the inside but the vibes in there were super cute! The girl who answered the phone and worked the register was so sweet which was just an added plus. Overall I definitely recommend might have the best drinks on the island. Will be coming back!

Yelp
Coffee was best on the island, not bitter, very nice caffeine feel. Beautiful location, get it to go and walk along the bay. Ricotta toast was amazing, bacon great - even the fat tasted good.

Donna E.

Yelp
The food is AMAZING! I had the most delicious sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with a homemade sausage that was the best I ever had. The sausage actually had blueberries in it which gave it just a hint of sweetness that I had never tasted before and it worked!!! Served on a potato roll, the combination of over-easy egg, creamy melted cheddar, homemade sausage topped with a little bit of an aioli sauce was out of this world! In addition to their yummy sandwiches, they had house-baked pastries. We tried the Maritozzo. It was a brioche bun filled with mascarpone vanilla cream, sprinkled with powder sugar. It was so good! We also had the Jersey Parfait which was the best I ever had! It had yogurt, granola and fresh figs and peaches in it, topped of either a drizzle of honey! If you're into coffee, they have quite a variety to choose from and it is made with a lot of thought and care! They only use the best ingredients and when you taste it, you will know! The owners of the Turtle Gut do everything so thoughtfully. They trained in pastry-making in Italy and everything is so fresh and delicious. You have to try it to believe it!

Yelp
$6 for a 16 oz cold brew that came out of a big plastic bucket. It was stale and bitter and the portion wasn't great for the cost. There's much better and reasonable places in the crest to grab a good coffee!

Andrew F.

Yelp
Whoever runs Turtle Gut's instagram deserves a serious raise. Based off the instagram, you'd think this was the coolest establishment with amazing food and excellent service. However, all of that couldn't be further from the reality of going there. I feel totally duped. So do my friends who came with. The physical space is sterile, feels like you're at a doctors office. There were four outdoor tables upon arrival that all had dirty dishes on them and they remained that way throughout our time there. The cashier and servers all don't speak English. What should have taken 20 seconds to order our food took two long minutes. The donut wasn't good and the mortadella egg and cheese was decent at best. The egg is also extremely runny they need to cook it longer. It's also wildly expensive. Don't let their instagram presence fool you like it did for us.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped in just passing by because it looked like a cute little coffee shop. We got two cold brews and two bacon sandwiches and it came out to about $35. I almost fell over from the price alone. That's an awful lot of money for what we were getting. We decided to eat outside and was handed a number to place on our table. It seemed like none of the servers knew what was going on. Every time a server came out they'd say "are you number..." and wander around with people's food and drinks. My boyfriend and I did not like our coffee at all. The sandwiches were good, but still not worth what we paid. Will not be returning!

Yelp
I am hoping this place finds it's identity by next season. We came in for a couple of coffees and something quick for breakfast on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. We tried to order off of the big beautiful menu on the back wall but pricing was not listed at the time, we were redirected by the cashier to order from a printed out menu with clip art at the front counter. We ordered a couple of coffees but then had to move down to our third choice on the food menu because the muffins and other baked good that was listed was not available. We ordered a $5 hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were only a few bites and took almost 15 minutes to be ready. We were disappointed because the location is great and were hoping for a better take out breakfast spot that is really needed in WWC.

Pinyon O.

Yelp
I'll be dreaming about this place until i return next summer. just like i did all year. singlehandedly raising the bar for breakfast coffee and vibes in WW. BLESS YOU TURTLE GUT.

Reid S.

Yelp
Fantastic every time. Food was perfect and with quick/great service. Right at the cove in WW Crest with beautiful views. A real gem.

Jordan P.

Yelp
Echoing the same sentiment of other diners about the owners being unfriendly. Came in at 1:40 to order lunch after rushing over because their menu and website says they serve food until 2pm. They denied my food order and seemed very perturbed at my arrival despite still having diners sitting outside and the door wide open. Change your website to be clear.

Lor S.

Yelp
So glad they revamped Rita's and took it over! Great little spot by the bay. Coffees were delicious and breakfast sandwiches too. A lot cheaper than some other similar coffee spots in the crest! Glad we found it. Hope they stay open for next summer!

Mary W.

Yelp
The latte was very bitter and served in a glass - rather odd. My husband's breakfast sandwich had extremely runny eggs. The chairs outside were so uncomfortable - thin metal - and the woman who brought out my husbands sandwich was so unfriendly and when asked about my latte, had no response. Really miss Rita's and wish the new owners would understand their clientele better!

Tanya D.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast sandwich! I could eat this every day! I love that the egg was still a bit runny and the Taylor ham was crispy. All drinks where very good as well (drip, matcha, watermelon). Prices are right and environment is clean. Way to go Turtle Gut! Highly recommend.

Nani B.

Yelp
We love Turtle Gut! This new cafe has a splendid view of the bay and features some of the best coffee drinks on the island. The owners are very friendly and warm! The service is great. It's wonderful to have this new spot nearby.

Jerry F.

Yelp
This used to be Rita's and I'm very happy someone new took it over! Great breakfast sandwiches and EXCELLENT burgers. The menu is a bit limited as they are a new business but for what they do offer, it is excellent. The sausage in the breakfast sandwich is how a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was meant to be. Will definitely be back!

James B.

Yelp
Best coffee in Wildwood In-house breakfast sandwich was delicious Great vibes, great view

Steve C.

Yelp
very inviting place with a simple yet different menu... they also have gluten free options such as buns which is tough to find at the shore. caramel latte was very good, breakfast sandwich delicious and even my picky kids liked it here...pricing is solid for the shore and service is great.

Gene A.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches come on a potato roll, you can get them on a bagel (plain, everything, sesame). If you choose a bagel you are charged for the bagel (no issue" and an additional "custom" amount for having the sandwich put on the bagel you're paid for. Meat is an extra $2 for each sandwich. Yogurt parfait are small but are delicious. Not much to choose from but would come back for the parfait.

Carissa C.

Yelp
wow so impressed with the hospitality of this place !! i have only been twice and both times i have received so much kindness !! the first time i mentioned that i never have had cashew milk so they just gave me a sample! the second time i expressed interest in a pastry i didn't end up getting and they let me try that too!! been to a lot of cafes but the employees at this one has definitely left a good impression :))

V L.

Yelp
We love Turtle Gut!! Eva and Joe are so lovely - and they are also excellent employers (our son worked there this summer). The ricotta pancakes are amazing and this may be the only place on island I can get a decaf Cappuccino. Husband had the avocado toast and I ended up eating most of it myself! And their Baja night was incredible! Great place, great people!

Debbie B.

Yelp
The people were very nice but extremely unorganized . Way to pricey for what you get. Cold brew coffee wasn't filled to the top and had a ton of ice for $5.00 and the coffee was ok.. also my husband ordered a brioche filled with mascarpone and cheese look very good. It should have been refrigerated and it was terrible.. I had a yogurt which looked premade overpriced for $9.00. Ask for a glass of water and never got it.. The place was very clean .. I wish Rita's was still there. This is so disappointing. We won't be returning..

Sally M.

Yelp
So the place looked great. However, the iced coffee was stale/ bitter. And the portion of the 1000 layer hash brown's was minuscule. I will say that they corrected the coffee problem at my request. Which I was thankful for. But. Overall disappointing and overpriced.

Janna P.

Yelp
This place is so cute. I got their watermelon and matcha drink and it was fantastic. I walked in with a baby stroller and the gentleman behind the counter (possibly the owner) came running over to hold the door for me. Great service and can't wait to go back and try the food.

Effie J.

Yelp
Love that Turtle Gut cares about the products they serve and local farm fresh ingredients such as pastured non-gmo eggs for the amazing breakfast sandwich. Also had the Matcha tea drink , so healthy and not Starbucks price. Try them out!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Clean and friendly, but terrible for the price. We ordered three breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon/egg/cheese, two only pork roll and cheese. They were all the same price (despite two not having egg). And for $10, our sandwich was a hamburger roll with one very thin slice of pork roll, one slice of cheese, and an aioli spread I didn't ask for. Horribly overpriced for a jokingly tiny sandwich.
