"When the sad news arrived in September that the Tenderloin location of pho favorite Turtle Tower was closing, the only solace was that there was still one location left of the restaurant in SoMa. Now, it seems that the final restaurant at 501 Sixth Street is also closed as of Sunday, November 19, owner Steven Nghia Pham confirmed to the San Francisco Chronicle. “Everything is so hard to do business, so we close,” he told the paper." - Dianne de Guzman

"Known as one of the city’s best places to slurp a bowl of chicken pho, Turtle Tower does also serve beef pho, rice plates, and vermicelli noodles piled high with grilled pork, lettuce, mint, and cilantro. The SoMa location is about a mile from Oracle Park but makes an affordable meal before a game." - Lauren Saria

Dropped in for a hangover cure and ended up having the best pho I've ever had. I'm glad they didn't have hoisin sauce for me to desecrate their perfect recipe, for once I was blind but now I see. So perfectly balanced with fantastic thick noodles and rich broth. 10/10 knocked my socks off

This is my favorite chicken pho place. Never had the beef pho, but it looks really good too. Very light and tasty broth. Thick noodles. Service is standard for this type of restaurant. All staff was pleasant enough. I try to come here whenever I visit the city.

Hands down the best Pho in San Francisco. Broth is rich and silky. The stir fried noodle with vegetable and chicken or beef is a unique take on a traditional favorite. Whenever it's raining, or I'm sick, or just back from a hot beach vacation and want a reminder of what I love about San Francisco, I come to Turtle Tower or get takeout. It's the best Pho in the West. Very busy at lunchtime so plan ahead or just get takeout.

Hands down best Pho spot in San Francisco. Favorite spot because you can choose rice noodles or Vermicelli noodles (I prefer rice noodles) for your Pho. Btw - It is Northern Vietnamese cuisine. Check it out!

All you need is LOVE! But, sometimes, after a long day... all you need is Pho. And that place can deliver a good and authentic Pho like no other in that area. Go for the beefy beef Pho (No. 4 in the menu) or for the chicken noodles (No. 9 in the menu). Comfort food at it's best!! 🍜

Perfect comfort food!! The food was very, VERY well served, delicious and super quickly served, super great pricing! I highly recommend them for anytime of the day or any day! We had from the pho menu #1 and #4 both well done and size large, two orders of the fresh spring rolls as well a bahn-mi sandwich which they let you pick any 3 filling choices which is rarely offered. This was all for a family of four, we now know we could have done without one of the soups and would have still been more than plenty(yet still no regrets, yummy leftovers not complaining). All in all we spent about $12 per person but with 8dlls is more than enough if you are 2 people order a large and get a side dish and share!

Turtle Tower serves Northern style pho. So don’t expect herbs, bean sprouts or hoisin sauce here. Because those additions are Southern style pho. We seated at 11:15am ish, ordered and got pho like 2 minutes after ordering! The bowls are huge and true authentic taste of Northern Vietnamese pho. The noodle is wide and not skinny, soft and not chewy, no herbs or hoisin sauce except chilies. Highly recommended that you order chicken pho, which is a Northern delicacy and not offered at many other pho restaurants. Parking can be a problem during peak traffic hours as it’s street parking only around the vicinity.

Nothing special. First pho restaurant I've been to in a long time that didn't give Brussels sprouts with the soup. The beef used also wasn't good quality, and noodles used weren't Vietnamese rice noodles (and also overcooked). There was also ginger chunks in the broth which was weird.
