Tuscan Hen Market

I ordered the mid-week take home special last week and we loved the selections. The soup was gnocchi with a short rib meat filling and a short rib broth. The dinner was boar's meat and sauce with kale. The dessert was fill your own cannoli. Everything was delicious and the instructions for reheating were easy. It's my third time getting it. So fun!

Passed by this place many times and today I stopped by for lunch. Ordered the meatball sub. The sub was good and there was sauce on the side for dipping. Half eaten in my picture. The wait for the sub was about 5 minutes, a little longer than I thought it would take but not that bad. There is a good smell of food when you walk in. It draws you in. It looks like there is an area to sit outside in the back which was nice. Street parking is limited but I was luck to park right in front.

I stopped by for the first time although I had tried their food before. Service and atmosphere were not bad but not welcoming just simple. The food was excellent! I ordered a lamb lasagna that was perfect for us, lots of meat, not too much pasta or cheese just the perfect amount. The flavor was awesome. I also ordered the steak salad ... ( I don't ever order salads as I'm very picky about the ingredients) but here at T Kitchen all was fresh and delish! I have had their beef stew before and it is cooked to perfection! I definitely recommend it and I will be back!

The food was fantastic and the staff were so kind! I had a conversation with the man at the counter about what kind of food would keep best to eat later, and I took his suggestion and got the awesome Caesar salad. He packaged it up nicely and even gave me a piece of bread to go with it since I mentioned it would be my dinner! Fantastic giardiniera focaccia and chicken saltimbocca panini.

I have never been here before. I just ordered a meatball sandwich, came home and ate it and I can honestly say this is the best meatball sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Amazing sandwich Great looking menu Nice looking little store Staff was very friendly I’ll definitely be back

What a delicious sandwich! I had the Chicken Pesto sandwich. So fresh, bread was excellent! The 2 employees were so friendly and smiling. Wish I lived closer so I could come here more often.

Had the Parpadelle Bolognese and it was very good. So was the garbanzo bean side salad. Service was good. Inside was ok though the music was loud and there was a speaker above almost all the tables. There was an outside patio but it was too warm for that. Will I go back again? I may. Little pricey for lunch but I splurged so as expected.

Tuscan Hen is my go-to lunch spot. It's a very welcoming environment, with friendly staff and a bright, clean space. Their sandwiches and pasta (dessert too) blow me out of the water every time. You can tell they take pride in their craft, everything is super fresh. I recommend their Turkey Tom. For the vegetarians, they have great rotating, seasonal options--like one with mushroom or another with eggplant. Just divine!

Super kind staff that were willing to work with my request for a salad and sandwich combo. Food was top notch. I saw they had prepackage lasagna and other goodies I'll have to try in the future

This spot is a special gem in North Center with the freshest subs and pastas! I love coming here and always get the Well St. Italian Sub. It is so tasty and fresh everytime! I love enjoy their cacio e Pepe and their spaghetti and meatballs. They make everything to order but it is worth the wait. I will have to try their delicious desserts one day. This place is a must try for sure!

What happened? Romaine lettuce on an Italian Sub?? End of review. Seems like new ownership, Giardiniera packed in WATER, sandwiches much smaller & of course almost $18 for one sandwich with a tip.

The service was very pleasant. The minestrone soup was very good. She had the turkey and apple panini which she loved. I had the meatball sandwich and I will order it again. We will be back!

Tuscan Hen did an amazing job making the sandwiches for my daughter's graduation party, and they also prepared delicious bowtie pasta. The turkey, Italian, and Caprese sandwiches were a huge hit with everyone (the Italian was my favorite), and the cupcakes were also amazing and didn't last long. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner; the staff and food are amazing. Thank you again, and we will see you soon. Frank

I'm giving them 2 stars because when I complained they made me a new sandwich, which I appreciate. But both times I have been in here they put almost no meat on my sandwich (see my photo). Today I got their prosciutto sandwich and it had one slice on it. I basically ate a arugula, jam and bread sandwich. That's just not ok. I shouldn't have to complain to get it right. I realize costs have gone up, and if that's why they are being cheap with the meat, then either don't make the sandwich or charge more. But $13 for a sandwich with no prosciutto on it is pretty shitty. I wouldn't want anyone eating that if I owned the place. Again, I appreciate that they replaced it, but I shouldn't have had to tell them this (and it's the second time it's happened). I wish them the best of luck, but I won't be back.

small in size but full of flavor everything is scratch made. Makes you feel like you're in your Nona kitchen. They have parking lot on the side of the building

Tuscan Hen Market is a location I had multiple people recommend to me before I had the chance to try it. It is a super cute cafe style setup. I ordered just a sandwich, which was very delicious and well made. It is on the slightly pricier end, but I think it was worth it for the quality. The staff were extremely kind, and even offered to bring my originally to-go order to my table once I decided to sit outside on their patio. I will definitely be going back to try more!

Looking for a good lunch spot? Take a walk over to Tuscan Hen to get a sandwich and enjoy it on the back patio. I enjoyed the Italian BLT on a really great sourdough. Good chip offerings and some really good looking cookies. Check them out soon and be sure to ask about daily specials. You can also order online ahead of time if you're on a time crunch.

I placed a huge order with Tuscan Hen Market to be delivered to our office where out of town employees had gathered for an onsite meeting and they did not disappoint! I was one of the out of town employees myself and, of course, I worry about getting things right for the team but the owner, Carlos, texted me personally to confirm the order and thank us for the business. What great service! And the food was phenomenal! We ordered a wide variety of items and everyone loved their food. Huge thank you to the team at Tuscan Hen Market :)

Tuscan Hen is the absolute best! Awesome spot to stop in for hot and cold sandwiches. They also have great pasta that's all handmade. They sell frozen pasta that you can take home and heat up for your family. Don't sleep on the back patio in the summer, such a great spot to stop by with friends! Service is always quick and courteous. I can't say enough positive things about this place.

It took me so long to try this place but after looking at the menu and some other reviews, I finally decided to give them a try. I only got the chicken pesto sandwich and chips but I can't wait to try their pasta as well. They didn't skimp on the meat or the mozzarella and the chicken breast was very juicy. Everything tasted fresh, the pasta is made in-house and the staff was really friendly. Will definitely be returning!

The best. Great food and service. I haven't had a bad dish. But I wish they would open longer hours, and open for dinner like they used to. I take away one star only because it's very hard to eat here when they only open for a few hours during the day.

Two years later, and this is some of the most delicious and fresh Italian food on the north side of the city. Absolutely delicious.

I ordered the big tuna, and this is the first time I've ordered from this restaurant. I was a little disappointed. I'm sure the other food is good, but I felt like I was eating a pickle sandwich. I could not taste the tuna because the pickles were overpowering it And they weren't slices of pickles. It was almost like a pickle condiment inside the tuna salad. I will not order this again. That said, the bowtie pasta salad is good.

Food is great. I don't agree with all the dogs in the place that place their front paws on tables and customers. Also the service is kind and well informed. Love the place plus the owner is from abruzzo.

Delicious lunch in a beautiful courtyard. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our fresh sandwiches, unique potato salad, and limoncello cake. Yum. It's so relaxing to enjoy lunch at Tuscan Hen. We loved their Sunday evening dinners too! This was my third visit and each time it's been 5 star!

Terrific food and service. Hubby loved the Italian potato salad. Had the Cacio e Pepe and wasn't disappointed. Nice to see simple Italian dishes done right.

We ordered delivery...it was good...nothing mind blowing but sandwiches were basic and tasty. We shared the meatball sub, Italian beef and the Italian. Meatball had good flavor, beef was very dry and the favorite would be the Italian sub.

I was craving for some delicious Italian food and this place definitely hit the spot! This place is counter service, with some seating inside, and There is a patio out back. However, we just decided to do take out. We ordered the Alfredo (meatless for those carnivores wondering. Not sure if you can add meat for extra charge) and the carbonara. I do not have any pictures to show because we ate everything in sight! Didn't last very long! Everything tasted very fresh and the pasta sauce was very rich and tasty. There were many wonderful items on the menu that I would love to try!

We ate on the patio, a very nice one, and while we miss Loraine's summer Taste of Italy (and miss Lorraine, too) Carlos is proving a worthy successor, this being our second attendance for the Specials night. You can't depend on the web site to show the specials, or that the Hen is open on these two evenings. You have to call & ask, or get on the email list, for the specials. Or just show up - you will not be unhappy! BYO, with a CVS a block north on Damen, and a liquor store with better wine selections just north of that over on Lincoln.

I love this place!! The staff is wonderful, kind and very a accommodating with last minute orders! The food is absolutely amazing! I love buying the fresh pasta. Shoot out to Carlos who's been very kind and helped me out in a pinch when ordering. Thank you!

super friendly service, nothing but smiles and helpfulness. I had the chicken saltimbocca sandwich which id say is a 4/5, only lost a point since it was deli chicken and not a cutlet. also the turtle brownie wasnt super caramely but as a brownie it was pretty great. will be returning

Tuscan Hen Market is a great option for a killer lunch sandwich. I've had the Tuna, Tuna Melt & the Italian. All 3 are stellar. And they don't skimp on anything. Big Chicago samiches on think bread w tasty fresh condiments. A bag of chips & a sweet tea to complete the meal deal is recco'd.

I drove past this neighborhood spot for a couple of years before deciding on a whim one day to drop in and give them a try.... and boy, am I glad I did! Their sandwiches are very gourmet delicious because they use high quality ingredients. My favorite at the moment is the "Fancy Nancy ". I also have purchased their frozen lasagnas which taste home made and are outstanding. A bonus for me (if you are eating in) is the wonderfully curated playlist of music always playing in the background! Also, they have started offering, once in a while, a special Sunday evening prix fixe dinner which sells out quickly. I have not tried this event yet but a friend of mine did and told me it was a lovely communal experience.

Good quality food that taste delicious. I only gave it a 4 because the service usually is slow. If you are not in a rush and looking for good sandwich or pasta definitely recommend it.

Stopped by when I was in area to check it out. Ordered an italian sub and roast beef panini. The sub was delicious! Very traditional ingredients with the best subroll bread. The panini was equally as yummy. Great combination of ingredients, tasting so fresh. Tuscan hen is a great spot for a bite. The staff was friendly and interior decor chanting and cozy.

Tried these guys for lunch today and enjoyed my Philly Cheesesteak and Popeye Salad. Fresh and delicious!

Potatoes on a sandwich? That sounds like a carb party (aka my kind of party)! That was the Briar Drive Artichoke Sandwich, which was very tasty, but it had nothing on the Farmer's Market panini. THAT, my friends, was a little bit of heaven. Both sandwiches were super fresh and seemed to be of great quality. I was so excited to find this gem delivers, and for a truly reasonable fee. They will be one of my top lunch treats when I work from home now.

Let me start by saying, I love Tuscan Hen. I've been coming here since they opened and it's always been fantastic food. Great family and great experiences. Were there occasionally issues or miscommunications? Yes! But the service and food were always good. Since the new ownership, there have been significant changes. Sandwiches cost more for much less and many of the recipes have changed. While they say one thing on the website, what you get is always a bit different. It's still good, but it's just not the same as it was. I'll keep giving it a shot now and then, but I'm no longer a regular.

I have had two different take out pasta meals and was very disappointed both times. The first was too dry, not enough sauce. I gave them a second chance with a meat ball pasta dish and yep, again too dry. Obviously they are cheap with the sauce and the meatballs were almost tasteless. For twenty some bucks, I won't go back for a third try.

Wow, service is everything you would expect it to be for a neighborhood deli. That's exactly what I want in this neighborhood and Tuscan Hen delivers. Fabulous sandwiches and pasta. Great cannolis! Cute little spot that I hope has long time success.

Came in 30 or so minutes before closing with the intention of making a to go order. The person behind the counter ignored me completely. She clearly just couldn't be bothered with making anything.

I just moved to the neighborhood and was looking to have some lunch delivered - enter Tuscan Hen Market. My mom and I got sandwiches - tuna, and caprese, and both were REALLY good. (her tuna sandwich was the winner between our two IMO). I personally wasn't crazy about the italian potato salad (it's in a vinaigrette vs being mayo based and while good, I think I prefer the usual to this version) but the lemon cake we had for dessert made up for it. I would absolutely order from here again!

Love the chicken salad sandwich (fancy Nancy) here and they make one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. Come here for lunch like 3 days a week.

I've only had a couple sandwiches here, but I love it. One of my favorite parts of my days off is being able to pop in and grab a quick sandwich to take home. I've had the chicken salad sandwich and the chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich has just the right balance of sweet from the fruit and savory from the chicken. The only thing I would do differently is add a little celery salt to it. The chicken pesto is great. It's light and refreshing for a sandwich, and perfect for a Tuesday afternoon. The store itself is small, and homey. It reminds me a lot of some of the smaller restaurants I've worked in. The service is very quick and friendly, as well, which is the biggest plus for me. Very much looking forward to trying out the dinner menu some time soon.

Tuscan Hen's sandwiches are so fresh and delicious! I make it a point to come at least once a week because of how exceptional it is. I've had most of the paninis and sandwiches but my favorites/go-to's come down to (1) The Club (2) Wells Street Italian Sub (3) Fancy Nancy and (4) Chicken Pesto. You can check the menu for the exact ingredients but The Club is God's perfect sandwich and suffice it to say the Wells Street is what Jersey Mike's WISHES it could be (I always order mine with extra sub sauce/vinaigrette). The readily made pasta is excellent as well and my favorite is the orzo.

Outstanding subs!! My partner and I got the meatball and Italian subs and they cut them in half so we could split them. The meatballs were large, fresh, and delicious - they are slightly sweet, which I liked. Could have done with a bit more marinara but otherwise, very good. Italian was also great - loved the combination of meats and the sub sauce was excellent! Desserts: GET THE CANNOLI AND TURTLE BROWNIE! Seriously, yummmm!
