"It’s now under new ownership, the Lafayette Restaurant Group. And the only thing that’s really changed is the restaurant’s name, according to a source familiar with the business. That’s now Tutu’s Food & Drink, and it’s back open serving a familiar menu of egg scrambles, pancakes, and food to go." - Caleb Pershan

My spouse and I enjoyed a late lunch on the patio of Tu-Tu's. Geraldo was our attentive, pleasant server. The outdoor tables are well-placed for adequate shade and privacy. Our food was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. Photo is an open-face tuna melt on delicious bread with avocado on top. My salad was super fresh and perfect with the light house dressing. It was our first visit; certainly not our last! The owner's online description represents the restaurant well. Adequate paid parking is convenient. Check it out!

Big menu. Lots of yummy and interesting food and drinks. The restaurant is beautiful and a great place to be. The location is also great. Service was ok. Not consistent. Most were wonderful and friendly. One person was a bit dismissive. All in all, good place to spend time!

Ok, i love this place! We have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so reliably goooood! We popped in a few weeks ago on a cold rainy morning. It was so warm and welcoming inside with the fireplace flames dancing in the background. Big warm smiles from the employees also greeted us at the door, such a nice start to the day. We ordered classic eggs bene and chris got the wild mushroom scramble. Because cold weather makes you hungrier, we threw in a cinnamon french toast too:-) Perfect just wonderful, all of it.! The buttery, silky hollandaise was generously slathered over tender, yolky poached eggs. The omelette was tender and loaded with spinach and rich mushrooms. Tutu's provides real maple syrup with the baguettes sliced to make the rich and tender cinnamon french toast. Yummmm! Fast forward to a sunny, warm afternoon last week. We were at the end of our Lafayette Circle Nosh and Drink Crawl (all those great restaurants in such close proximity, we are such a lucky community). We sat at the counter bar by the espresso machine. Inspired, Christopher ordered an Espresso martini. (He has been watching too much Below Deck) I requested a nicely chilled rose, mmm. We wanted a final nosh so the server suggested the charcuterie platter, although she did warn us that it was a large portion . Such a fabulous recommendation! See pix below, there was so much on this board, just look at it! Fruit, cold cuts and amazing cheeses. Did I already say that we love this place?!

We had breakfast here. There were four of us. The service was very good. The waiter boy was friendly and at the same time did not interfere with our communication with friends. I am satisfied with my breakfast. It was very delicious. Friends ordered a pancake. But it was too lemony. They couldn't finish their pancakes. Of course, the topic of tastes is specific. Someone will like a richer taste, and someone will not. In general, I liked the place. There was also delicious craft beer. I recommend to visit. Maybe this place will become your favorite!)

Good atmosphere prices are okay for the portion size but I've had better

French 75 and Brown Derby with a Rueben and the Seafood Linguine pairs with a Baked Goat cheese starter. Yes! 100% so delicious!

Google
Yum! There are so many delicious dishes to try at Tutu's! I highly recommend their appetizers! Their summer roll is light and refreshing! Their calamari is tender and crispy! I really enjoyed their corn and tomato pizza! So good! Please save room for desserts! My friend Tony is the pastry man! Oh their seasonal crisp with strawberries and rhubarb ... Tart and sweet and full of flavor! Their flourless chocolate cake is rich and delicious. Lemon pie... So good too! And apple pie, classic pie, fantastic crust and flavor. Our servers were very attentive and cordial. Go and enjoy! They also have a market, so you can pick up their food to go!

Standard breakfast food, good service. The best part is the selection of fresh juices that they will blend for you! French toast was better than average. Would pass on the rest

Yelp
Off the hook Brunch in Lafayette Ca in one of the coolest designed restaurant rows. Every place calling you to eat delicious Al fresco open air food. The service was excellent and so was the food. I had the chili Thai noodle bowl $21 which had chicken and beef, cabbage, soup noodles, scallions and peanuts. Super spicy - perfect broth. Large portion. I ordered a 16 oz can of Taco Truck Mexican lager. Watch out Corona and Modelo- this is a good beer- went perfect with the spicy noddle bowl. My brother in law had the buttery cheesy Rubin $19 that had a perfect char on it with delicious crispy fries. We also had the chicken sausage apple egg scramble $18- add hot sauce - it's heavenly, came with crispy home made toasted bread The Chiliquiles with tortillas, pulled chicken, verde sauce and lots of melted cheese were spicy and perfectly cooked. Honestly, every customer at Tutus had a clean plate. Plus they have a fresh produce, deli and wine market inside.

Yelp
Walking around Lafayette, we came across Tutu's and dined here due to the variety of options on the menu and the Yelp reviews. Staff and Service: - We were seated right away, which was great. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating on the patio available - Once we were seated and received water, we were forgotten about. We aren't sure if we came right when a shift change happened between lunch and dinner, but we didn't have a server. We waited for about 20 minutes (and it wasn't busy at the time) until someone finally saw us looking around and came over shocked that we hadn't been helped yet. Someone else came over to take our order, then passed us on to someone else mid-order. This third person then started over because the initial person taking our order apparently confused them. So we went over our order again. - From there, it was smoother, but not sure what happened with communication in the beginning Food and Drinks: - Smoothie: they had one smoothie on the menu which was a banana berry smoothie. This had good flavor - Burger: I think they forgot seasoning on this burger. It was very bland and brought the overall burger down. The fries also lacked any seasoning. - Nachos: these weren't bad, but had half melted cheese on them, so you could see the chunks of shredded cheese Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via a metered parking lot out front - Women's and men's bathrooms inside the dining area - There also seems to be a market inside - Good for groups, families, etc. (casual ambiance)

Yelp
4.5 rounded up. I loved the casual and attractive decor, friendly servers, and menu with lots of food and drink options. Get the pork-fennel sausage pizza if you like things a little spicy. It's out of this world.

Yelp
Nice brunch spot in the area with a short wait! We we wanted to sit outside with our dogs and it only took a couple minutes before a table cleared up. I got the Reuben sandwich which was perfect! The toast was on the softer side so you can actually bite through it and it was packed with lots of savory and smokey pieces of beef.

Elise C.

Yelp
All the other local brunch spots in Lafayette Circle were packed and had long weights, and for some reason tutus was able to seat our group of six right away! The staff is all super nice. Our waiter happened to be a fabulous artist, and one of his paintings was for sale on the wall! The food was good. I love that you can order breakfast stuff and lunch stuff at the same time. Pot roast or eggs. What to choose?!? The avocado toast didn't look too much different from the poached eggs dish, but both were delicious so I guess it really doesn't matter too much. Everyone loved their food. Portions were good, but not overwhelming.

Yelp
Wow! Ordered last week $100. Plus order asked for the noodles not to be so spicy answer no problem. Reordered today called asked again was told manager refuses to make the meal less spicy! what?! Nice job was told to complain to Door dash to get a refund. Asked to speak with manager was told he's busy can't make the noodles less spicy! What a great way to treat customers! Manager says he tell the chef to never make the noodles less spicy again! Horrible just spent 120. For nothing! Manager should really take a look at what customer service looks like! BTW ur in the food business people have allergies and food issues around a lot of items. Seems absolutely ridiculous that a manager can make it less spicy one week and not the same the next!

Heather M.

Yelp
Always love it at Tutus! The food is great and our server was always checking in. I love that you can " brunch" on a weekday with full breakfast and bar! I enjoyed my veggie scramble with egg whites- lots of veggies and cheese!

Justin L.

Yelp
I recently dined at Tutu's and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food they served. The flavors were outstanding, and the presentation was top-notch. I particularly enjoyed their creative dishes and the attention to detail in every bite. However, the only downside was the portion sizes, which were on the smaller side. While the food was delicious, I found myself wanting a bit more to feel fully satisfied. That being said, the service was excellent, the ambiance was cozy, and the overall dining experience was enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with great-tasting food, this spot definitely delivers in that department. Just be prepared for slightly smaller portion sizes compared to other places. Despite that, I would still recommend giving it a try for the quality of their dishes and outstanding service.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice and both times the food has not been the best. The first time I came here I got the pesto pasta and the pasta was very oily and the taste of the pesto was excessive. I then went and did take out for lunch and got the spaghetti and meatballs. The ratio of spaghetti and sauce was not portioned the best and I was only given one meatball.

Carol G.

Yelp
The service was impeccable. The menu choices were impressive. I eat gluten free and the food was very tasty. I love the casual decor with all the windows and the little market within.

Amy W.

Yelp
LOVED. This is maybe same owners as Chow in SF back in the day (say 10ish years ago). 3 of us met for lunch - I took BART from the city and walked - super easy about 3 blocks. We got a table outside. I ordered the thai chicken salad, and it was as I remembered. Light, yet very satisfying. Not quite sure why they have a large and a small with only $3 difference, I got the Large (of course). We split the famous ginger cake for dessert. It was a Chow specialty and I realized how much I really missed it. Served warm with pumpkin Ice cream AND fresh whipped cream.

Loreto D.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise to eat here. My hubby, sister, and myself had their veggie scramble and it was perfect for us to share before we get down on a foodie feast for dinner. The berry jam the scramble came with might have been homemade and it was yum! It feels cozy inside and the outdoor seating is warm with the heater lamps. Also, I love that they promote the organic eating on their menu. The organic grapefruit juice was nice and healthy. I'll definitely be back here.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I stayed away from this place for quite a while when it got purchased from Chow thinking that it wouldn't be as good. Well, I was wrong! Not only did they keep all my favorites and pretty much the whole menu, it's better. Favorites are the smiling noodles, and their fish of the day. They cook the fish so nicely, and that is not an easy thing to do. Love that they still have the ginger cake with pumpkin gelato. Even their chicken noodle soup is fantastic, it tastes like one that I would make at home, only downside is it comes in a too small of bowl. Their cookies, scones and pies are so good. Too many things to list that I love...just go!

Jason V.

Yelp
Eat here every time we're in the area. Have eaten here a daunting number of times in 15 years. It always hits the spot. Still a good reliable spot with a great menu. And killer chocolate cream pie.

Susan B.

Yelp
We are regulars from Sunday breakfast. Love the granola and fruit, others in my party chose egg Benedict and were happy. Coffee is good too.

Kenneth R.

Yelp
Because we were faithful patrons of Chow over a very long stretch, I was sad when I learned that Chow was about to shut its doors. That was then; I'm writing about now: A friend suggested lunch at Tutu's a week or two ago. When I looked up the address, I realized that it had taken over the Chow space! Once I arrived at Tutu's, I had the warm feeling that Chow had been resurrected. The place looks more or less as it always did, and a bunch of happy people were inside enjoying their meals. Was the market still in place? You bet! On the menu, I spotted a number of my favorite dishes from the old days. Since it was lunchtime, I ordered the huevos rancheros, which I'd never had under the former regime and possibly is new to Tutu's. The huevos were excellent -- I enjoyed the dish down to the last bites of black bean and tortilla. There must be Yelers who have written that Tutu is missing some of the old menu favorites, that prices have gone up, or that portions are small. That happens any time there's a changeover. I plan to come back for dinner to evaluate the situation for myself and recommend that you do that too. Oh, one final comment: if you are in search of something to grumble about, consider the metered parking.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Work lunch was excellent at Tutu's. You can make reservations and there was plenty of seating outside and inside. We chose inside because it was a bit hot out there. I had the tacos with a simple free salad. The tortillas were homemade. You could choose fries if you wished but I tried to stay on the healthy side. I couldn't decide so I got 1 fish and 1 shrimp taco. Both were excellent and I'm glad my fish was grilled not fried. Parking is metered unless you drive further and walk it so plan accordingly. Although it is a bougie area so I guess people don't mind paying for parking. Sorry no pictures since I didn't want to look crazy in front of my bosses for taking a photo.

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
My two friends and I had a wonderful lunch at Tutu's today. Our chicken BLT's were delicious and our server was so friendly and accommodating. We love the extensive menu and are excited to return in the near future.

Lenny H.

Yelp
service is great outside dining wonderful with heat lamps food is above average liquor good

Yelp
First of all, Sarah provided the best service! She checked in on us several times and was very helpful with ordering. We loved the location and outdoor seating, it was perfect for brunch. They have gluten free bread and use organic eggs which was great and fresh cold pressed juice options as well. We had a veggie scramble, veggie omelette, avocado toast with poached egg and beet orange juice and everything was delicious. It was easy to get a table and service was timely.

John B.

Yelp
The special was New York Steak. Not very special at all. Ordered medium rare and came out closer to well done. Befor ordering I asked the server if it was a thicker cut or thinner. He said thick. Also asked if it had any toppings, and was told just salt and pepper. Wrong!! Very thin, overcooked and some sort of tomato based sauce on top with a little blue cheese something. Don't like blue cheese! The waiter never even asked how things were. Came here a a couple of weeks ago with a friend and had a much better ribeye. So much for a waiter recommendation. Very disappointed this time!

Sandra C.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner on a rainy Saturday night. The restaurant was filled with lots of patrons but they were able to seat us right away. I ordered the pesto penne pasta which was mouthwateringly delicious. I had to take half of it home because the portion was too big for one meal. Leftovers tasted amazing! My hubby ordered the seafood pasta which he couldn't resist finishing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We brought our two kiddos (ages 6 and 9) and they devoured their Mac & cheese and chicken tenders. Both of my kids have asked when we can go to Tutu's again. Need I say more?!

John G.

Yelp
Absolute best Food , Service and the Ambiance. is wonderful. Enjoyed a sunny midday lunch outside with a friend this week. The manager was so helpful with table choices . Our waiter was absolute joy and so professional . He helped with selections and his service was top notch . Highly recommend Tutu's for your next outing in Lafayette square . Ambiance is great

Yelp
This restaurant is located in the quaint city of Lafayette. Since we love Lafayette, this is the breakfast spot we always go to, they also serve lunch. The breakfast menu is very simple and to the point. If you like organic, all of their food are served proportionally with organic ingredients. I usually order the eggs Benedict, it is served with a side of spring salad, very tasty and well prepared. It also has potatoes, cooked slightly roasted, just perfect with a slight crunch. Overall, the eggs Benedict is worth ordering, if you want something heavy. They also serve fresh juices, from orange juice, carrot juice, and even beet juices, all are fresh and very tasty! I also order a side of bacon and it always comes out perfect, since I like them slightly crispy. The service is phenomenal, all great servers with the attention to the customers needs and wants. We have been coming to this restaurant for several years now, and we will continue to come, since this place has never disappointed us! So if your in Lafayette, come visit this little spot and you will surely be satisfied with the food and service. Enjoy!

Vicki L.

Yelp
Skip the tortillas soup- not very good. Patio was nice and toasty with heater on. Service was very good. Food not so good.

Angelica W.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and the food is always great! Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner it's always so yummy. The other day I went to get some brunch with my brother and our server Jacob was so awesome. He gave great service and made sure everything was perfect for us.

Frances M.

Yelp
Se me antojo una hamburguesa y estaba muy rica! Great location, indoors/outdoor seating and my burger was very good. They do serve carnitas which my friend enjoyed very much. Gets really busy, paid parking (they tag quickly) so don't overlook.

Nave W.

Yelp
Lafayette & East Bay staple. Consistent food and great service. Far & away the best quality in town. Top recs are steak & chicken noodles, avo toast, cappucino.

Claudia V.

Yelp
Another fantastic dinner experience on my birthday at Tutu's....for special occasions I always ask the owner for a recommendation when it come to wine. He actually takes the time to ask about what wines I enjoy and what I was having as a meal, so he can help with the pairing. The service and food were amazing!!! ...as always, every time my family is in town, I bring them to Tutus's so they can experience great and knowledgeable service and a great atmosphere.

Timmy W.

Yelp
I came in today for a special Mother's Day and we amazingly. Our server Jason took great care of us and the food was great! He was able to answer every question we had about the menu and checked up on us without even asking. If you come in ask if Jason has a table available.

Monika M.

Yelp
The food was absolutely the worst! The service was too slow, and we would never recommend this place to eat at all!!

Kathy S.

Yelp
Great food, generous portions. Very friendly, helpful service. Busy, busy place, little noisy.

Bakerbuddydoodle M.

Yelp
This place is busy!! That means the food is great! I'm glad we were able to get seating. They do take reservations if you don't want to wait. Our server was very attentive. He got our orders quickly. I had the Pancakes. My sister had a Thai noddle dish and my brother inlaw had the burger. All our food was delicious. Nothing was wasted. Next time I am going to order the thai dish my sister had. The broth was delicious. Not a lot of parking on a busy day. Be prepared to park a little father if none close by.

Aida F.

Yelp
A friend suggested this place for our Friday night meet up. From the outside is looks inviting, plenty of covered outdoor seating with heaters available, followed by inside seating & bar seating, so pick a spot & the host will seat you. The menu here is large, everything from nachos, to Brussel sprouts & the mains are all over the place, so if you're craving a pizza & your friend is craving a salad, burger or even enchiladas, this is your place. We started with the Brussel sprouts with no bacon, as Kay is a vegetarian; must say these were quite tasty without the bacon, as there was a tinge of onion & apple, all the flavors melded nicely. For the mains - we both ended up ordering burgers, one veggie, the other organic; the sides are either salad or fries. The organic burger was meh - and later in the evening it settled like a small stone in my stomach, so definitely not my hamburger place. Kay loved the side salad & only ate half of the veggie burger. So maybe burgers aren't their specialty? I would definitely try this spot again, as the Brussel sprouts did not disappoint.

David B.

Yelp
Food was very poor and service was pretty good. Ordered 2 meals...salmon on risotto and fusilli with chicken and sausage. The risotto had a taste like it was made with water from a garden hose. You know the taste...no good. Two bites of chicken in the fusilli and both had the crunchy tendon chicken pieces. Neither meal was edible, so we just paid and left. The server took one meal off the bill, but we didn't and couldn't eat either. Nasty

Brian L.

Yelp
I frequent Tu Tus often sometimes for dinner sometimes for breakfast I love the sausage scramble , and for dinner I always like to get the pot roast with the mashed potatoes. I have seen most of the staff, I remember by name, Sarah and Kelly. They've always taken great care of me. I love your restaurant. I will be coming back soon.

Reggie H.

Yelp
This place took over the space that was once Chow's in Lafayette. I'd sum up my experience and opinion on the food as, good enough. I didn't feel my money was wasted. The spinach salad with beets was tasty and every entree was made with extremely fresh ingredients. Here's the rub. Just because a meal has some form of a potatoes lumped with a protein doesn't make it a hash. The salmon hash tasted fine. But it wasn't a hash. The little creamer potatoes were still whole. Hash is supposed to be chopped up, with onion. I looked up the definition just to make sure my understanding wasn't correct. And sure chef's come up with their own takes on recipes. But some classics should remain true. The silver lining is that the pancakes were very tasty and service was good.

Christine T.

Yelp
Food is good but man, I got a dish with chicken in it and it was that Tyson chicken that comes out of a bag. It wasn't legit real chicken (like the chicken they sell in their market). It also tasted a little old .. like it had been sitting out for a while (this said Tyson chicken)... Solid menu though and I'll be back !!! The other meat in my dish was tasty and my sister had something with shrimp and it tasted fresh

Vanessa ..

Yelp
do not order the eggs Benedict. this is the fifth time in a row when I order medium poach that there is still clear runny goo when I open egg. I sent back and they brought another semi raw egg to me. Just dangerous.

Sarah W.

Yelp
LOVE Tutu's!!! Great food, staff and ambience. Everything about this place just feels cozy. Some of our favorites are the lamb burger, steak frites, wontons, and any of their desserts. Their fish of the day is also always amazing.

Lynda K.

Yelp
My friends took me to Tutu's for a birthday dinner, and it was a great choice. There is a large outdoor patio and spacious indoor dining area. The menu truly has delights for every taste, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Our server was very good, answering our questions, explaining the specials of the day, checking to make sure we had everything we needed, AND delivering a delicious chocolate cake a la mode with a candle for my birthday along with four spoons. With so many yummy things on the menu, I'll go back often to try more.

Based O.

Yelp
Foods always delicious a must for anyone in the area. Organic food with a comfortable atmosphere definitely a local favorite.

Vicki L.

Yelp
Excellent and friendly service. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options. I prefer the breakfast options over the lunch options. Food is "ok".

Sophia Y.

Yelp
Busy but delightful place to get lunch on a weekend. The wait was a reasonable 30-45 minutes compared to their nearby restaurants. Getting yourself on the waitlist was a little confusing as when we tried they had no one at the front taking them and when we did, wasn't told that it was for inside dining waitlist (we wanted to sit outside). Only by overhearing the party behind us did we realize that there were 2 waitlists- one for inside dining and one for outside. No vaccine card check for sitting on the patio though. Sitting outside was very lovely as they had a nice pergola providing shade and plenty of heat lamps. Our service was phenomenal. He frequently checked up on us, refilled our waters, was friendly and attentive, and was so kind as to split our bill for each person when we asked him to only after the check had already came (oops...). And the food was fantastic. I had the baguette French toast, which was fluffy and very filling. It paired exceedingly well with the mascarpone cheese and jam. 10 out of 10 would order the french toast again. My friends ordered the chicken-apple sausage scramble and the veggie burger, which they both said were pretty good. I stole some of my friend's fries, which came with the veggie burger, and I can definitely say those were piping hot and excellently fried. They were gone in 2 seconds. ***REVIEW UPDATE*** Not long after writing this, I received a message from the owner of Tutu's kindly explaining the confusion with the wait list. To quote, "We do not have 2 [wait] lists only one and it is first available unless the guest request specific inside or outside in that case we make the request and for patio seating on a weekend it will be a longer wait. We only have one host and if she was not at the front I'm sure she was seating somebody else unless you came after 2:30 pm then there is no host." +4 star for my experience at Tutu's +1 star for the kind response from owner

Cat N.

Yelp
For our weekly Sunday coffee and bakery outing, we decided to go to Tutu's because I was craving avocado toast and we saw that it was on their menu when we walked by. We used to go here ages ago when it was Chows. I guess it changed hands and is now owned by the employees or something? Not exactly sure the history but it had a similar menu and the cute store on the side of it. We were seated almost immediately at a great table with a heat lamp turned on and room for the dog. We ordered: coffees which I love when they come with free refills and plenty of cream. I got the avocado toast which was small but delicious. Hubs got eggs and country potatoes and a side of sausage which he enjoyed. His order came with a choice of toast or English muffin so we got the English muffin for the dog and he loved it. The service was attentive and kind. The atmosphere happy. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely Disgusting It's Saturday 11/5 10:30am. We sat at the bar and had breakfast. The bartender was "hacking" and coughing. Not just once but Multiple times. Not covering her mouth. Not washing her hands. She looked sweaty and sick. It was foul. She was handling food. Preparing juices. Taking orders and delivering food. The first cough was kind "off putting".... Then came 5 more "hacks" and "coughs". We got up and left immediately. It was disgusting! Managment needs to "step it up".

Gregory L.

Yelp
Delicious, delicious, could have enjoyed everything on the menu. Used to go to that location when it was Chows, the food is better now. Pleasant outdoor space.

Annie H.

Yelp
We sat at the bar. Ordered breakfast everything was HORRIBLE food service .will never go back there. Hot chocolate was ice cold. The lady at the bar was the worst we ever had and we're not young.

Jeanann B.

Yelp
Tutu's is our go to when we want simple fare that is done well with great service. My husband ALWAYS gets the lasagna and literally cleans his plate with the bread every time. I usually get the lamb burger with a side salad and their AMAZING blue cheese dressing. Tip-you can buy it in the market too and it's so good with plain kettle chips. OMG! Last night I was hungrier and ordered the ribeye. So juicy and tasty with a good sear. The broccolini was bright green with just the right crisp. Of course the fries are always so good, you can't stop at one. We love it here.

D L.

Yelp
Had some great meals here in the past, but the food quality and service this last time were poor. Disappointing! Dry and tasteless scramble with burned toast and had to pay extra trip to skip the potatoes. But toast and potatoes together are too much starch! Won't be trying this place again, which is sad because it's a great location and ambience.
