"A year ago, we were saying goodbye to Troquet’s original location, T.W. Food (it was revamped into Self Portrait, under the same ownership, but it has since closed), and Boston Beer Garden (it was reborn as The Broadway, under the same ownership.)" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
In a word, stellar. My wife and I wanted to go out and have a really fantastic dinner, and that's exactly what we got. The ambiance was perfect, the music low and classey, the wait staff unpretentious and attentive without being invasive, and the food...just great. She had the gnocchi, I had the beef, both of us left full and very pleased with our meals. Compliments to the wait staff, the chef, and the owners.

Google
Outstanding local small restaurant, family run. Friendly staff, helpful with menu suggestions. Very creative menu with specials on set days - for example, on Tuesdays they offer four courses with four paired wines for $59.00. And they don't Thecompromise on the quality of the food. Excellent overall.

Get the chef's tasting - the menu changes daily anyway, and the tasting is one of the most reasonably priced in the city, even with wine pairings. We headed here expecting to go dancing later; instead we spent the whole evening sampling courses and enjoying the space. The staff is incredibly helpful and enthusiastic; my request to not let my partner see the menu or the bill, but to start our tasting immediately upon arrival for his birthday dinner, was handled deftly. The food - both the regular and vegetarian tasting menu - was incredible, and we've not had an experience to rival it. Don't go here in a rush; do make reservations (it's small), check directions (it's off the beaten path) and turn off your phone and sit a while. Trust the chef, and you won't be disappointed.

Google
Good location and good menu. The food was served promptly and was very good. The only problem I had with my entree was that one of the steak pieces was full of gristle. Could not find a person to ask to replace the piece. Waitstaff never asked how was the food??? When the server showed up to clear the entree plates I told her the problem with the meat. I got a snippy remark from the server "Sometimes that happens with that cut of meat" was the answer!!!! My answer was not at these prices. The waitstaff was not very attentive, even though there was adequate staff and the seating is limited. The other problem was that after leaving we commented on how high the bill was. We were a party of 4 and there were 2 glasses of wine and 2 coffees added to the prix-fixe menu. Each of us paid $74.37 before tip.The prix-fixe menu was $55, so it appears that the drinks, coffee and tax was around $80 - our error for not questioning the bill. I advise to check before paying. The food was excellent, barring the meat issue, but due to the service I would not come back, nor tell anyone to go there.

Maybe my palate isn't as great as I think it is. TW Food just did not do it for me or the other 2 people I was with. I had the beef tartar to start and it was overwhelming flavorful with capers and what tasted (to me) like mustard. I kept wanting to like it as the last time I had beef tartar (elsewhere) it was wonderful, however this time it was not. Main course I got smoked soft shell crabs with a salt cod paste surrounded by puff pastries. It was alright, waaayyyyy too salty, though I should have known that was coming. The beats around the edge were good... For Desert I got whatever was the most chocolaty. It was good, but obviously not so good that I remembered what it was called a couple weeks later. The winner for us was the lamb ravioli type dish, but even that lacked a little something. The waitstaff was very nice and helpful, the atmosphere was comfortable, the wine was good, and the menu was creative, but I guess we might have made the wrong choices or something. Alas, I won't be going back to TW Foods as I don't feel right spending that amount of money on a place that did not leave me satisfied.

Google
Our experience was amazing. Easily the best French restaurant we have ever been to. Tim is an amazing chef and his wife Bronwyn is such a warm and genuine hostess you almost feel at home. The setting of the restaurant is quaint with only about 10 tables total in the restaurant. The menu changes constantly and won't fail to please. We even got engaged there making for a lifetime of memories.

A couple of years ago me and my wife went here for our anniversary. Well I don't remember it a great deal because in my opinion the food was bad other than the first special they gave us and it was basically a piece of bread with a half cherry tomato on top, it was great to be honest so I had high expectations after that. My wife and I each had 3 course meal's, the appetizer's we got were a duck confiet pate' looking type deal and she got some pork, my confiet was awful and a strong flavor that wasn't so great. Her pork looked a little on the burnt side but left a bad after taste for her as well so already to a bad start. For dinner I got a steak dish, the steak was extremely salty and the vegetables were decent. I don't remember what my wife had but she took one bite and didn't finish it so not very memorable. Desert wasn't bad, I had a lemon cake with saffron ice cream which I thought was good and my wife had a chocolate cake I think, not too sure because she's not a desert person. All in all it was just a bad experience and I even went to mcdonalds after. I read all the reviews and they all seemed to be positive but me and my wife must have a different palate, maybe brunch will be better but I just wanted to give my review after all these years.

Google
I was thrilled to finally eat here, however I came away significantly less than thrilled. Grossly disappointed, even. The food was banal at best and poorly conceived at worst. Our lamb was too salty, the cheese pairings strange and the lavender gelato sickly sweet and gooey. The service was pleasant and the wine acceptable, but for what I had hoped and for what I assume they're aiming for, they are tragically wide from the target.

Yelp
Amazing service and very cozy vibe! Food was pretty good all the way around. The duck pasta was delicious.

Yelp
Had 5 choose tasting menu for $96 Bread (4/5) was $7. A bit surprised it's not complimentary. Focaccia is very good sourdough is good as well. Herb butter is great Scallop crudo 5/5 great flavor. Scallop is very fresh Chilled lobster 5/5 lobster is very fresh and great flavor Carmelle 5/5 great flavor pasta is cooked perfectly Rabbit loin 7/5 the flavors were so savory. This should be their signature dish Chocolate cake 3.5/5. Dessert was good, but nothing special, especially compared to the other dishes. I feel I could get the same thing at most restaurants and get three times the amount at the same price. Vibe was if trader Joe's opened a fine dining restaurant. This is a compliment. Service is brisk, but friendly. Overall 5/5 would highly recommend. Will come again when tasting menu changes up. Or maybe order a la carte

Yelp
We enjoyed the tasting menu here for a birthday celebration, and we very much appreciated the creativity and adventurousness evident in the menu, which changes weekly. The wine pairings were also quite diverse and tasty. The service was impeccable, with the staff working as a team and making sure everyone was readily taken care of. The space is well appointed and perfectly situated for dining al fresco (although it was too hot for us to do so in July). I would caution diners against getting the tasting menu unless you are very adventurous. I consider myself adventurous, but I found the main course (rabbit) a bit gamey and not appetizing. The server mentioned that the following week, filet mignon would be the main course -- so it just depends on when you go, I suppose. We would definitely return and order a la carte off the menu.

Yelp
We went to Tallula's to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. They went above and beyond our expectations. I had the 5 course tasting menu, which they modified to make gluten-free for me. My husband enjoyed an appetizer, entree, and dessert off the a la carte menu. They offered us a delicious champagne toast, which was a wonderful way to start off our exquisite meal. The service was impeccable. Thank you for giving us such a memorable night!

Tara C.

Yelp
This meal was something special. My partner and I ordered al la carte and split two appetizers (pumpkin soup was outstanding), a pasta dish, the chicken entree and donuts for dessert. My partner rarely gushes over "fancy" food but raved about the chicken for the rest of the night. The service was stellar and our server even gave us a complimentary drink since we were celebrating our anniversary. For such a highly rated restaurant I found the cost to be quite reasonable and appreciate that the owners value their employees by including the tip in the bill. All in all, we found it to be an excellent value and will return as their menus continue to change with the seasons.

Yelp
Dined at Tallula this weekend ! Really enjoyed oir meal here Ambiance 4.5/5 It's a cute and cozy restaurant - feels like you're eating in someone's (fancy) living room. Service 4.5/5 Was sharing plates with my bf, and the restaurant very kindly (without us having to ask) split each course into two plates for us ! We also were given the most delicious little pastries with our check - a very nice touch Small attitude ("that's all") when we ordered on the "light side"- not sure if most people order the full tasting Food 4/5 We started off with the homemade sourdough and focaccia - the sourdough was ok, but the foccacia was amazing ! I could have eaten an entire plate of it. Next we shared the campanelle pasta with oxtail and braised cabbage- super unique and delicious flavor profile For the main- we split the farm chicken- the chicken skin was cooked to crispy perfection. Finally, for dessert we went with the ginger molasses cake- the cake was pretty good, but not super memorable. The clove ice cream tasted nice, but was quite icey at its center.

Yelp
This is a small neighborhood restaurant - a location hosted by previous restaurants. The ambiance is minimal and no fuss. The staff were friendly. Once seated, we waited 30 minutes which would be fine if I had a cocktail. When I flagged our server down, he told us they were struggling with the outdoor seating. All I wanted was communication and a cocktail. We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was inconsistent- some was outstanding and others not do much. One of the wine pairings was undrinkable and the waiter insinuated that we had unsophisticated palates and maybe so, but don't tell us that. The most egregious plating was the dessert. How does a chef serve a complete and utter mess? Bottom line - maybe if I lived in the neighborhood, I would come but certainly not a destination visit.

Yelp
I went for a 5 course food tasting. Everything is homemade, which seems rare nowadays. After course 3 I was so full , I took the other two courses to go. Delicious food , epecially the Caviatelli ( home made pasta ) with Duck confit and a splash of ricotta It had a little kick due to the sweet and spicy peppers. Gigantic portions ! Excellent service. What else can one ask for? People were really nice at the table. Good

Yelp
Contemporary dining in Huron Village, the menu changes with the seasons and they aim to use local ingredients only. I'll start off by saying their wines were wonderful - I tried a few reds, apologies I can't name them for you, but they were all lovely. Crisp, not sweet, dry - these were my preferences and they made a few great recommendations. We ordered a handful of dishes and shared. A cod dish in a broth, a crudo dish with citrus & radishes, a pasta in a white sauce, and ended it with vanilla ice cream. Portion size is on the smaller scale, but the quality of each dish makes up for that, flavors were fresh and subtle and clean. Service was nice. The space is quite intimate, there were about 8-10 tables set up, all spaced out well, so seating/reservations are limited in that sense. The artwork is very cool as well, from local painter Brittany Loar (look her up!). Apps are around $15-$20, entrees from $25-$40. Price of wine depends on the bottle.

Yelp
Wonderful small family owned restaurant in Cambridge. The staff were so attentive and friendly and knowledgeable about their food and drink pairings as well. The food was delicious I would recommend the Hamachi crudo, amazing. Great for a special occasion or intimate dinner.

Stella K.

Yelp
Delightful! Small but eclectic menu, interesting combination of ingredients that somehow work together well. Nice selection of wine. Outside seating is at the sidewalk. A little pricey, but we enjoyed it.

Yelp
This is an excellent restaurant. The food is spectacular- the pastas really stand out as special dishes. Service was meticulous without being formal. The room is comfortable.

Yelp
Flavors - 3/5 Textures - 3.5/5 Presentation - 3.5/5 Value for Money - 3/5 Would return? No Must-try: Bread, Short Rib The food is decent but does not deliver. The best way I can describe these dishes is that all of them could benefit from editing. Is like they want to do too much and end up with a confusing plate. A bit expensive for the results. I got the tasting menu and some other dishes to try. The Farmer's Cheese was very mild, like a ricotta or whipped cottage. What I loved here was the crackers but everything else was meh. Tuna Crudo (tasting menu) - refreshing and the grapefruit flavor came through. Nothing especial. Bucatini - it was well seasoned and had great flavors. The pasta was a bit overcooked. Ravioli (tasting menu) - I'm an adventurous eater, but these black cocoa raviolis were a bit too much. It was difficult to identify flavors but overall something was off. The Venison was perfectly cooked, as well as the vegetables. There was no wow factor on the flavors but it was very well executed. The Braised Short Rib was one of my favorites. It was fall-off-the-bone tender and very well seasoned. The rest of the dish was interesting with the wild rice and pumpkin puree - it didn't entirely go well together. The boiled potatoes (besides being bland and simple) were unnecessary. The dessert (apple upside-down cake) was moist and yummy, as well as the ice cream. The frozen yogurt was so frozen I couldn't cut it, and I also think wasn't needed.

Yelp
It's clear that's this is a really nice place to dine. The outdoor table setup was good, with enough spacing between diners to allow for more privacy. I was impressed with the burrata cheese mixed with beets and mints and local berries. The presentation was simple yet beautiful. The beets were super fresh, and the burrata was nicely textured. The swordfish with tapenade and miso flavor was good. I query whether the swordfish was too well-cooked... seemed a tad stiff. The miso glaze made the fish a bit too sweet, and there was much more tapenade than necessary. The quinoa that lay underneath was extremely well flavored with an interesting tone that I couldn't quite identify. The pole beans were yummy too, but a tad oily. The puree was creamy. The pork with mole was good too, yet once again a tad overcooked. The mole was nice to begin with, but there after repeated bites it got to be a bit strong. The vegetable accompaniment was really delicious and wish I had more of it. The fall or autumn sundae was really nicely flavored and really felt like Fall. There was an oat flavor, an apple flavor, and a star anise flavor. Accompanied by some cider cream, everything blended really well. My main concern though was the caramel. It became rock hard as it lined the inside of the glass cup. In fact, there was a large mass of caramel at the bottom of the cup that wasn't integrated with the rest of the ice cream. Was I supposed to eat that? Or was it just for flavor and/or decoration? I really wasn't sure. Also the oat tuile was way hard. If I weren't careful it would have been a tooth breaker! All in all a really good restaurant. The chefs can certainly execute with finesse. I do wish that there was a bit more of a wow factor, something that would have really packed a punch. On some level the restaurant is a victim of its own reputation and success and pedigree ... expectations were high and so a lot was expected. Kudos to the chefs and the service for maintaining a high standard.

Chelsea F.

Yelp
The food was amazing and service was fantastic. Our entrees came out a bit late so they offered dessert on the house - totally unnessecary, but speaks volumes of the hospitality. The restaurant is so cute, would highly recommend!

Yelp
Came back for a special occasion because this was the best dinner I had in the Boston area the last time I was in down. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** So lovely! Our waitress was amazing, super friendly, and answered all our questions. All our food also came out really quickly. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Romantic and intimate space! Everyone else there looked like a couple :) **Price & portion, 5/5** Fine dining energy without the fine dining price -- aka an entree will actually fill you up! But save room for dessert, it'll be well worth it! **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Everything is so visually stunning. **Taste of the food, 5/5** We ordered a lot and everything was delicious! - House bread, 5/5: The foccacia with scallion butter was phenomenal. Fluffy and flavorful! The other bread was hearty but couldn't compare to the foccacia. - Burrata appetizer, 5/5: A beautiful dish. So many great flavors and textures! The cornbread crouton was really interesting. - Seabass entree, 5/5: The fish was flakey and so soft with a really nice thin broth. Was a hit! - Steak entree, 5/5: Ordered rare and it actually came rare! Unlike other places where you order rare and it arrives medium. The steak was super tender and the potatoes were great too!! Wasn't as big of a fan of the charred scallion. - Squid pasta, 3/5: The pasta was cooked well and the squid ink made it really visually interesting, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the other amazing dishes. - Pork entree, 5/5: So juicy and perfectly cooked! - Panna cotta, 5/5: The rhubarb was perfect with the smooth Panna Cotta and the fruit jelly layer was fun. - Coconut sorbet w crispy pineapple, 10000/5: You HAVE to order this! So refreshing and the crispy pineapple is delicioussssss **Other notes** I will literally try to come here anytime I'm on this coast (I'm from California). Thank you for such wonderful experiences!

Yelp
Very nice meal, great cocktails, wine and beer menu. Would certainly go back. If you haven't been highly recommend you give it a try.

Yelp
Went here for date night with my girlfriend and fellow yelper! We really enjoyed each course of our meal. The bread and butter was delicious - a very fancy combination of flavors for the butter. Our pesto rigatoni was creamy and delicious. And the scallops paired great with the bed of lentils they were served on. To top it off we had a lovely sundae for desert. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, with an excellent wait staff. I MUST say however, the portions are very small. I mean look at the rigatoni - my God that was really just a snack. And we paid $25 a pop for it. The bread was $7!! This, my friends, is keeping this place from 5 star category. Very expensive for honestly a small amount of food. I also must say their wines did not do anything of significance for me either.

Pear B.

Yelp
I'm very glad that we booked this place for a celebration. I liked the warm feel of the restaurant and service and prix fixe was a nice choice to experience.

Sue Z.

Yelp
i really love this restaurant, they are one of my favorites in boston. but this past weekend the food was very salty. it was still very good but really too salty. wish it was less salty. we got - cod - pork - pasta - gnudi - brussel sprouts everything was good, but they were all too salty for me, except for brussel sprouts.

Megha U.

Yelp
Amazing! Great food and wonderful wine selection. The cheese wigh stone fruit is out of this world! Tasting menu looked great too, will try next time. Some of the guys in the staff are a bit... snooty. But great experience overall.

Yelp
On our second time here, we brought our friend to celebrate his birthday and just like our first time which was before COVID, Talulla continues to hit its mark! Run by a husband and wife team with the restaurant named after their daughter, it's no surprise they take pride and care in their passion for this restaurant as it's apparent in the dishes, service and décor. The waitstaff were remarkable with their level of service, professionalism and guidance of the menu. For example, we wanted a bottle of red with a softer body but the taste was a bit sour for us and they assured after inspection there was no contamination. They suggested another red which we found more palatable and enjoyable and consumed in full. The fresh bread with the accompanying scallion butter shouldn't be forgone - we saved some for a later entrée too to sop up the sauce. The fluke crudo, chilled spaghetti with crab and bucatini had their own character building up to the stars of the show - the bavette steak and Berkshire pork loin. The steak was cooked to a perfect rare to medium rare with a crisp crust and pork loin was one of those dishes that needs to be slowly and thoroughly savored - a slight crust meeting a juicy and tender pinkish white center. The molé negro was a great complementary addition to the pork as it rounded out the flavors decadently. A must-try drink is the Oaxacan old fashion which multiple were ordered and everyone in the table agreed this was the drink of choice. There will definitely be more future excursions with empty stomachs!

Carlotta C.

Yelp
Date night at Talulla was a lovely experience. The space is cozy yet minimal and bright, the staff very friendly. We started off with some focaccia and home made sourdough bread, served with rosemary honey butter. Both were delicious, but I think some olive oil or some savory butter would have been a better complement. We each ordered the rigatoni with kale pesto and fresh cheese. They were topped with some crispy bread crumbs which were a delight. Only complaint is that it was a very small portion for the price ($27). As a main we shared the scallops, which came served with delicious lentils. We finished off with the winter sundae, a sophisticated take on your classic diner sundae. While everything was delicious, I don't think the price is justified. For $27 I would expect a few more rigatoni than a mere 12. I get that it might be about the flavors, but this isn't an experiential kitchen restaurant, feed your clients.

Rosa S.

Yelp

Vinita B.

Yelp
We stumbled across this place and it's such a hidden gem! We did the tasting menu and were blown away by the quality of the food, presentation, service and terrific ambiance. I'm just feeling frustrated I didn't find this restaurant sooner. Easily one of our favorites in Cambridge, maybe even in all of Boston.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Talulla has created the perfect environment for a safe dinner out during COVID! The mini green houses were so special and private. They include a small space heater and are only used for one seating per night so they can be properly sanitized and aerated. The servers wear masks of course and can hand you your food from outside of the greenhouse. Our server was lovely and accommodating of my mushroom allergy and offered additional vegetarian options, and the food was great! All of the vegetables and two pastas were vegetarian. They even had a delicious mocktail that was a beautiful balance of chamomile, coconut, and lime. The sourdough was delicious: perfectly toasty on the outside and soft and warm on the inside with honey butter, and my husband enjoyed the fall vegetable soup. I got the broccoli and farro to start and the pumpkin caneloni. Portions were pretty large and I couldn't finish. My husband also really liked the duck and sausage cassoulet. This will definitely be a regular spot from now on! We are so excited to be able to have date night again after not eating out for nearly 8 months.

Fiona R.

Yelp
The atmosphere is lovely- small, definitely lives up to the "mom & pop" vibe it purports. Cozy and great service! They're very attentive. Food was also delicious- the bread was some of the best we'd ever had. They recommended 2-3 dishes each, which was a perfect amount. I'd highly recommend!

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
We recently had a private event at Talulla (as happy return customers), and were absolutely BLOWN away at how exceptional the event was. The Talulla team was so helpful, helping us craft a customized menu, select wines for dinner, think through logistics of having a mini-cocktail hour before the dinner began. They were also incredibly responsive throughout the process, even when I had more than a few questions, which I appreciated so much given how crazy life is these days. The event was also perfect, day of. The food was truly exquisite -- the scallop crudo, the duck, and the neri pasta were particular highlights. Cocktails were all incredible, and I loved the wine options they helped us select as well. The team was so kind and helpful day of - felt like we were all among friends. We had the absolute best celebration, and cannot recommend Talulla more highly, for a dinner date or for a private event. THANK YOU!!

David W.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu! Quality ingredients expertly crafted into the most delicious and artful dishes. Cocktails were amazing and the wine pairings w ere on point. Service was first rate and ambiance in the Covid era was clever, resourceful, and thoughtful. My only complaint is minor and not enough to lose stars over-- I like my wagyu a little more rare, but still delicious. Can't wait to return.

Katie S.

Yelp
This is a charming place with excellent food. My husband and I and our three adult sons went for Mothers' Day and between all of us we tried 3/4 of the entrees (all except the steak) as well as one of the pastas and the kale greek salad. All were uniformly delicious and well-prepared. Creative, but not so creative as to be weird and not actually taste good. One reviewer here noted the veg entree was very small; that must have changed as there was plenty for my son (and it was physically the largest item we ordered). The overall experience was really pleasant from start to finish. We arrived a bit early but they were very nice and went out of their way to make us comfortable while we waited for the table to finish up. We ate inside (the outdoor huts look adorable but only seat two). It is a very small place but tables are well spaced so we did not feel like we were on top of our fellow diners. Service was perfect and very pleasant. My son and I tried the Sazerac cocktail, which was also perfect. I didn't lose my mind over the bread and butter like some other reviewers, but we did eat every last crumb. Where our food comes from matters. I'm glad when restaurants support local farmers and producers (the beer they serve is local too) and I try to support these types of businesses. But the experience has to be good to make it worth my hard earned dollars. I'm very happy to be able in good faith to give this cozy, lovely little business five stars and I hope to be back soon. PS parking is a cinch in this neighborhood.

Yelp
Lovely small restaurant with exquisitely prepared food. Menu changes all the time! Highly recommend

Yelp
We had a phenemonal meal at Talulla - one of our only meals out during COVID. We happened to go on one of the coldest nights of the year, but the mini-greenhouse was cozy enough that we could still eat with our coats off. We were also running like 30 minutes early, but the staff still seated us right away (much appreciated in the cold). I ordered a Hug of War for my cocktail - hot cider with whiskey and clove - which was the perfect accompaniment on a frigid night. We split the bread and honey butter to start, which was a great appetizer portion for two. For entrees, we split the cocoa pappardelle and braised short rib. The only critique I have is that both meals were a BIT salty, but nothing that stopped us from cleaning our plates. For dessert, we again shared the panna cotta which was delicious and a great night cap portion size for two. You would think that perfect service was impossible given the situation, including being seated outdoors in our own mini-greenhouse, but Tallula still pulled it off. Our waitress checked in just the right amount and offered great recommendations. Overall, it's extremely difficult to dine safely during COVID. The few restaurants that offer individual, safe seating like greenhouses usually charge and a hefty fee, or a sky-high minimum, and I'd wager they aren't as nice as what Talulla has. We can't wait to come back once things are back to normal!

Deanna Y.

Yelp
We came to Talulla for a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. We were seated in their intimate dining room, outfitted with white tablecloths, comfortable chairs, and charming family pictures on the walls. Overall, the dishes had decent portions, but the execution was not there and overall did not feel worth the price. The flavors were not as complex or robust as I had hoped for. Service was great throughout the evening though and the restaurant utilizes the space well. Most of our table opted for the three-course prix-fixe menu where you pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $60. The foie gras was flavorful and creamy and came with cranberry sauce and granola. The richness paired well with the slightly sweet and tart notes of the cranberry and I enjoyed the texture contrast with the granola. They're charged an extra $7 on top of the pre fixe price, which brought the dish to a hefty $28 price tag. Orechietti pasta was handmade and looked like mushrooms on the forest floor. The pasta was very thick though and my bites tasted mostly like plain pasta. The pork texture reminded me of kalua pork and the sauce was very one noted in flavor, underseasoned, and almost watery. The apple tart was surprisingly large, which I'm normally not mad about, but none of us could finish it. The tart was also cold and thus felt preprepared like it came from the fridge. I think it would have been much better warmed in the oven first, especially to contrast with the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I did really like the ginger flavor though.

Yelp
This small, charming, slightly cramped restaurant has been on my list for a while. we went with another couple, were seated after a short wait and received very attentive service. we had inventive, delicious, if small cocktails and appetizers and entrees. we were advised by our server that they 'recommend' 2-3 plates per person, though offerings were priced like normal entrees (pasta, $25, others $28-$36 - not too bad for a meal, a bit much for half of one - but we managed. we ordered appetizers ($15 range) that were precious - as in tiny but lovely. My brocolli soup was quite unremarkable, other quests were non-plussed as well. Entrees were also more like appetizer sized and tasty but not wonderful. all in all a little disappointing. I would like to go back one more time before I write them off my list, but for now I cannot offer a stellar review, sorry.

Yelp
Went on a date here and decided to splurge on the tasting menu and wine pairing for $135 per person. The food was good but not mind blowing. Honestly for a $400 bill, for two, I expected way more in the food and service dept. The scallop crudo is actually the only course I really remember as being impressive, the filet was cold and chewy. Service was just ok. Pleasant but the whole experience felt rushed. Felt like the goal was to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Wine for the next course was served before we even finished what we had in our glass. I felt pressured to pound back the wine and keep moving. The server didn't even announce the first dish, just plopped it down and left and I have no idea what wines we drank because not only could I barely hear him, he talked so fast I could't understand anyway. The wine was so so and one glass had bits of something at the bottom from what ever was in the bottom of the bottle. All in all, it was an insanely overpriced meal that was pleasant enough but not an experience I would do again or recommend. They did comp our cocktails which were tasty because we had to wait so long to be seated which was thoughtful.

Yelp
Fantastic tasting menu!! Went for my bday dinner with my fiancé who found great reviews on the restaurant and wanted to try something in Cambridge. Tasting menu was 6 courses for $95 and a wine pairing for $65. Incredibly fair price for the quality and quantity of food. We started out with a smoked cod in a spoon, which was a little complimentary taste. Next up was fluke crudo with huckleberries and avocado mousse. So so fresh and paired with a sauv blanc. Then there was a Japanese egg custard with caviar. Super different and really unique flavors paired with a Chardonnay. Probably my favorite dish was the gnocchi with guanciale and Parmesan with a red from a rosette grape from Liguria in Italy. This gnocchi was absolutely phenomenal. The 4th course was venison with delicata squash and some type of nut paired with a New Zealand Syrah. Then a port (I don't love port personally but can appreciate the pairing) with a Stilton and peaches. Last one was a sparkling cider and upside down apple cake with creme fraiche and ice cream....absolutely unbelievable coming from someone who doesn't love sweets. Amazing meal by Tallula and really pleasant service. So refreshing to have a homey vibe with fine dining. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.

Yelp
I visited this spot a year ago and gave it 5 stars, but when I visited last night I found it disappointing. Got the tasting menu both times and while the portion size has improved, it is quite heavy on bread bread. (Our server even told us to get the bread basket to hold us over, and then the pasta dish was tiny.) Everything was cooked perfectly and was enjoyable, but I did not find the flavors to be particularly unique (relative to other restaurants in Cambridge/Boston) except for the first dish, a scallop crudo. I also had trouble when a server reached across me to give me silverware and accidentally touched my bread. (happened twice.) I still recommend this place, but am not as excited about it as I was before. Adding to my disappointment is that I tried to do a takeout order last year when my family was visiting from their website and was able to order, but when I went to pick it up found the restaurant closed. There was no mention of the restaurant being closed on their website and I finally discovered on their instagram page that the owners were celebrating the restaurant. We were able to get a refund but were not happy about this. Finally, I made a reservation to celebrate NYE at Tallulah in October 2022 and in December was called because the greenhouse I had booked would be unavailable because of outdoor dining permitting issues. That was understandable and I let them know I would call back in a few minutes after I talked to my partner about if we wanted to dine indoors. When I called to let the hostess know, she replied that she would check to make sure we could still have a reservation and would call back. She never did, and when I called the next day to check on this, she said she had never spoken to me at all. We ended up having to cancel our NYE reservation due to Covid, but my point here is that I have not had amazing dealings with this restaurant other than the first time I visited in March 2022.

Yelp
Great cocktail, appetizer and main. Nice small room with friendly staff. Smoked salmon appetizer was good and big enough to share. Pork and cod mains showed the skill of the kitchen.

Yelp
Food was good, wines were great, and atmosphere & service were excellent! Half of our party was vegan and our server took every opportunity to accommodate - including bringing out a complementary starter that we didn't order because they thought it was their tastiest vegan option. Wine recommendations were also spot-on and delicious. This is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion!

Yelp
Every course was outstanding. We did the tasting menu. Was stuffed at the end, but we ate every morsel. Definitely go for the homemade sourdough. We loved the crudo, steak, carrot soup, and divine all chocolate dessert. Place is small but they are managing social distancing well in covid.

Yelp
I'm waffling between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately decided on 3 because I didn't feel many of the dishes were worth it, and there were unmentioned upcharges that disappointed. Two couples, 3 of which got the three course prix-fixe for $60, which we were told we could order any of the options listed. One order of Sunchokes, which was definitely 90% kale, with a garnish of sunchoke (so pretty disappointed). One of the other starters was the foie gras, which they charged an extra $7 for. Everyone really enjoyed the main dishes, two short ribs, one spaetzle, and one tortelloni; everything was fresh and expertly prepared. Finished off with cheese plates and budino; portion sizes were small for the $15 price tag. The drinks were $12 each, tasted light/refreshing, however they were small, didn't have a lot of alcohol, so again, felt a bit pricey for what you got. There was a small "kitchen fee" added on, which is not something I'd ever seen before, and wasn't mentioned beforehand or listed on the menu. The main courses were good, it's too bad I feel like they nickle-and-dimed on several dishes, and added random fees, that had the meal end on a sour-note.

Yelp
Tried to review on Resy but it kept crashing so here ya go Yelp. Wonderful service, delicious food, the best wines!! The uni Mayo lobster spaghetti was unreal, pappardelle was cooked perfectly al dente and was so toothsome, and the star of the night (other than our wonderful server): scallop with watermelon and shimeji mushrooms. So incredibly tender, watermelon was refreshing, mushroom had a tang but was salty and perfectly balanced. What a great night. Not to mention, their wine list is spectacular and pretty extensive. Even their wines by the glass were exciting and diverse. Granted it's not a lot of options by the glass, but theres a great range for everyone. On the cocktail front, we ordered Negroni and sazeracs. Classics, and one guest even noted "these drinks are way better than Little Donkey last night". I can't judge but  take it for what you will (for the record, I enjoy little donkey and their food). Bring your friends, bring a date, bring family - honestly a great restaurant for all occasions. PLUS they have outdoor tables and are bringing back super cute greenhouses for two tops, so a great date night spot for couples. pps I'm sorry for crap photos, look I was kinda drunk and it was dark and please just don't judge me too harshly.

Yelp
Tallula may be my current favorite restaurant in Boston. We ordered the prix-fixe and it was phenomenal. The hamachi was absolutely incredible and I am still dreaming about it. The raviolo con uovo was spectacular. The salmon was fantastic - it was cooked and seasoned to perfection (this is coming from someone who can be finnicky about salmon). The pot de creme was heavenly. I definitely feel like they really know how to execute fish dishes here, in particular. The ambience here is lovely - truly felt like we had been transported outside of Boston. Cocktail and wine list is excellent. Love how the menu is so creative and varied - cannot wait to return and try other items on the menu.

Yelp
We tried this restaurant during restaurant week. So three of us all did a three course meal. The starters are raw fish fillet, a soup and chicken liver mousse. The fish was so small a serve but everything is well designed and delicious. E.g. They use fresh cranberry jam as a side in mousse and that's so yummy and refreshing. All dishes are plated in an artsy way with special containers. Three Entrees, I highly recommend their pork. I never had pork like this:so juicy and tender. The cuttlefish pasta of course is great too! Risotto is pretty cheesy. The dessert are OK. Cheese plate is not that special but it comes with three different kinds. I recommend the home made cake with ice cream and sea salt. Very delicious!

Yelp
I cannot say enough nice things about Talulla! The food, the covid service and precautions, the drinks, and the candle added to my poached pear dessert for my birthday! This was a fantastic culinary experience and I'd recommend this spot to anyone for a special occasion or a dine experience.

Yelp
Wonderful food and kind (though VERY VERY slow) service! I went to Talulla for restaurant week with 3 other friends. We enjoyed the fine dining experience. For starters we had the arugula salad, fish crudo, soup. For main we tried risotto, and pork loin. We tried ALL their dessers (cheese plate, budino - which is a heavy dark chocolate mouse, hazelnut and olive oil cake, and lavender cream with berries) - all was extremely tasty! I highly recommend the crudo (relatively large for a crudo, very fresh, and full with different flavors in each bite), risotto (heavy and rich!) and their cheese plate for dessert and chocolate budino (heavy mouse). I would definitely come again!

Yelp
Such a great time at this spot last night, and much needed during Covid. Safety protocols were followed to a T, and the private greenhouses were so intimate and quiet, plus each has a space heater. The food was superb, I had the roast chicken which was crisped to perfection along with greens and sweet potatoes. My fiancé got the black cod with golden raisins and cauliflower which was delicate and delicious also. Cocktails were amazing, as was the sourdough bread and honey butter.

Yelp
Very good restaurant, both the hamachi and smoked fish appetizers are excellent.

Yelp
Talulla was the first place we went to for a proper sit-down dinner since March. It was a great choice! The food was delicious: we had kale salad, local pumpkin, home-made spaghetti with crab, and miso-glazed cod, plus homemade bread and a slice of apple cake. Everything was really good, but I think maybe the pumpkin and the pasta were particular standouts, the latter being interesting for being served chilled in a creamy citrusy sauce. Wine and cocktails were good too, and the staff were very kind and attentive. We had heard that pre-Covid the portions were maybe a little bit small/expensive for what you got, but if that was the case then, it's not true anymore. The prices are totally in-line with (or lower than) other upscale restaurants, and the portions are generous -- I fear we overate! So go out there and support this local business! We will return.
