On the Grid : Twelve Triangles

"Twelve Triangles is a coffee, doughnut, and bakery heaven found on Portobello High Street. This delightful little shop first blessed Portobello High Street in 2016 when it opened after the success of its sister shop in Edinburgh. The joy in picking your bread, doughnut, or pastry from the shop window is both beautiful and dangerous. The journey of choosing the perfect looking doughnut for that Instagram shot, combined with the freedom of shoving as many pastries as you can into your brown paper bag is not for the weak-willed! Coffee at Twelve Triangles is provided by the excellent Williams and Johnson of Leith and the equally excellent Fortitude of Edinburgh, both fantastic local roasters. Alongside their home-baked breads and pastries, you’ll find spreads such as peanut butter and caramel, homemade jam, local farm eggs, and gorgeous tote bags to take it all home. You can thank me later." - Sarah Wardlaw

Lovely staff here. We are on holiday and popped in twice. They were so helpful and welcoming. On the second day a local lady came in behind us and they made sure to ask her how she was since she'd been unwell. They were so attentive. We tried two of the more wholemeal sourdoughs which were excellent, the vegan lemon and cardamom buns and the vegan chocolate chip cookies. So good! We also bought some sandwiches for lunch with friends which they enjoyed. There is no seating but you are only five minutes from the beautiful promenade with plenty of benches and a view of the sea.

Popped in last Sunday for a coffee, decent place and prices were fine too, this was my first visit . Bought a flat white and An Americano to go. Nice breads and a selection of drinks and coffee beans etc. staff were a bit quiet inside so it’s a 4 star sorry. Even a how’s your morning of how are you both something like that no big chats but ordered and paid and very quiet. Good coffee and handy for a walk along the beach front as 2 min walk away.

Good coffee this morning Another good morning with Cappuccino at this Twelve Triangles cafe. Small place, clean and tidy cafe with some pastries and bread. This place also sell some tinned organic olives, grains etc. They sell roasted coffee and also printed cotton bags as well. There is no seating for sit in. I enjoyed my cappuccino.

Cosy place for coffee and pastry (I ordered kimchi and cheddar swirl, it was surprisingly good). The place is a little far from the beach but is easily accessible from the main road.

Yelp
Lovely little coffee shop along the Joppa high street. It is hard to find a seat as there aren't many, but it is very cosy and sunny if you do find a seat. I enjoy a lot of plants in a cafe so this place was perfect for me. Despite few tables, it is on Portobello, so getting a takeout coffee and having a lovely walk along the beach, or a nearby park, is an option! They offer a range of zero-waste options of milks, jams and coffee beans which all look amazing. I was very happy to hear they donate the leftover/unsold breads to the homeless. They are also on Too Good to Go if you want to participate in tackling food waste for a cheaper price. I got a great range of pastries from the Too Good to Go. I was offered bread too, but I'd rather that go to the homeless. Amazing local place that deserves people's business!
