The Best Restaurants in Katy | Eater Houston

"This Japanese restaurant presents izakaya staples from tonkatsu to soba noodles, alongside hand rolls and sashimi. Don’t overlook its 25 burger either — a salmon patty served in a toasty rice bun with wakame, tobiko, avocado, cucumber, lathered with a honey wasabi mayo." - Minh Truong

Twenty Five Teishoku House is the kind of place you try once and immediately start planning your next visit. The food is bursting with flavor, incredibly fresh, and thoughtfully plated with an eye for detail. The interior is warm and inviting, simple yet elegant, with a calming vibe that makes you want to linger. The plaza it’s in might be quiet for now, but the food speaks for itself. It won’t stay under the radar for long. I’m already looking forward to becoming a regular.

Google
This restaurant is amazing. I dined at many highly rated restaurants all over the world and I’m genuinely impressed by Twenty Five, by the entire experience. Food, drink, service, atmosphere. It’s a very beautiful restaurant in a subtle and personal way. I will definitely come back with friends.

Google
I had a great time here. We went for mother’s day celebration and they gave flowers out for mothers on that day. It is a great quiet and relaxing restaurant, and everything tasted great. Very comfortable setting and very professional and friendly service. Would definitely go back and recommend to everyone.

Google
Everything we ordered are good; it seems like they put effort into both the taste and presentation. The tray for the katsu helps keep it crispy—a simple detail that makes a difference. Additionally, the variety of side dishes served depends on your main dish that complements it. The service is great, and the atmosphere is calm and pleasant.

Google
Lia is FANTASTIC!! We stumbled upon this place and it was an extremely happy accident!! This might be the best sushi in Katy-And I hope they open more locations in Houston!! Every single hand roll that we ordered was fantastic and the “salmon to die for“ takes the prize. The wine was affordable (happy hour price!!) and delicious. I can’t think of one complaint about this place. We will absolutely be coming back over and over again as our main sushi place. YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!!!! The inside is also SO CUTE!!!!!!!!

Google
Everything is perfect. I don't know if there are any good Japanese restaurants in Katy, but this one is definitely a choice I will go to again.

Google
Menu is very limited. Place was fairly empty and we had it all to ourselves. I had the only meal option with beef, onions, and a bed of white rice. Beef meat was definitely fatty. Miso soup was tasty. Overall good experience.

We’re so happy to have finally made it here! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Every detail, from plating to decor, was thoughtful and intentional, and reminded me of some of restaurants I’ve visited in Japan. Looking forward to going back again soon!

Yelp
The restaurant has a very esthetic pleasing. I really like the decoration. We took our nephew here and it had enough room for a high chair for a toddler without feeling tight. Sometimes, it is hard to find a kid friendly restaurant but we didn't have trouble here! It was a very kid friendly restaurant. The staff were so friendly and really genuine. We didn't have to wait too long to order or refill on water. The owner came out to greet each table and see how everything was. All the foods were made to order so there is a little wait for the food. We didn't mind it because it means the food was fresh and hot when we got it. Honestly, it didn't even feel long because we order drinks, appetizer and entree. One came after another. They have a happy hour menu with great handroll/taco. We got the salmon and yellowtail taco . The nori was crispy which was a nice touch as you bit into it. The sushi was fresh and delicious. For drinks, we got the mojito and Moscow mule. I really like the mojito. For entree, we got the hamburg steak, unadon, sashimi buddies, and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura batter was light and crispy. The sushi set was fresh and good quality. We really like the wasabi! It tastes like the real wasabi you would get in Japan! We were impressed by that. The hamburg steak was juicy with a really good sauce. The sauce was my favorite part of that dish. The unadon eel was fresh and light. It didn't have a fishy or bitter taste. We decided to upgrade the unadon with the set to have miso and the pickled side dishes. I was glad we did because it's nice to have side dishes to balance out the meal. Overall, we really enjoyed it. It's probably one of the better quality Japanese food we had in awhile. We would definitely go again and recommend it to our friends and family.

Yelp
I decided to visit this restaurant during my trip to Houston to see family. We made reservations for 8:30 PM on a Friday night. We arrived around 8 PM, and they were still able to seat us. We looked through the menu and placed our order for some appetizers and our main courses. The appetizers came out in a reasonable amount of time, but the main courses took quite a while. Unfortunately, the waitress never came by to inform us of the delay or apologize for the wait. After the first main course arrived, it took another 15-20 minutes for the next one, and the same pattern continued until everyone received their meals. This staggered service made for a less-than-pleasant experience. As for the food, it was okay. The chicken in the chicken katsu was a bit dry. The bacon-wrapped items were decent, though the mushrooms were slightly overcooked. The restaurant itself is nice and spacious, with a bar and bar seating at the front.

Yelp
Twenty Five has quickly become my family's go to spot for nice evening out. The interior is beautifully decorated and the quality of food can always be depended on to be top tier. My personal favorites include the Chirashi Bowl Deluxe, Unadon, Salmon to die for and the handrolls (shaped like tacos and piled high with fresh fish) This place deserves more attention! We also adore the owner who always goes out of his way to greet his guests and share awesome stories about his interesting life. He has a real passion for his work which shines through in his meals.

Yelp
My friend and I came here during one of their buy one get one free promotion since my friend had been curious about this place. The food was decent but it isn't a restaurant I'd go out of my way to visit again. Service: 3.5 The server was nice. However, it was hard to get his attention since this place was a bit understaffed. With only one waiter taking care of the whole restaurant (when I went there was a large party of 8 and 3 tables of 2). As a result, it took a bit of time for our meals to come out. Teishoku Set: 3.5 What interested me about this menu was the teishoku set most restaurants just serves the Katsu with the miso soup and rice. My friend and I received different vegetable side dishes which surprised me since I thought they'd be serving the same two vegetables to everyone. I thought they'd just switch it out every day but luckily it worked out since my friend preferred my vegetables and I preferred his. I paid 1/2 the normal price due to the promotion but I don't think it is worth the full price. The black truffle Katsu was a bit dry and the vegetable side dishes were very mediocre. I did enjoy the theatrics of them blow torching the cheese but unfortunately that's all it was since it didn't really melt the cheese. They should either pre-melt some of the cheese and then use the blow torch for the final step or just get a cheese that melts better at a lower temperature.

Yelp
This is a higher end Japanese restaurant that specializes in teishoku, or basically set meals where you're served an entree, soup, salad, rice and small side dishes. It's very tastefully decorated and would be a perfect date night or special occasion gathering place. The prices are slightly higher than a bento place, ranging from $20-30ish, but I feel the price is justified because of the decor and portion size (definitely very generous for one person). I can tell a lot of thought was put into the restaurant, from the menu design (the drawings are SUPER cute), napkins are heavy and prettily designed paper towels, higher end disposable chopsticks, filtered water, etc. The food is beautifully presented also. I was a bit sad that the tonkatsu and chicken katsu weren't impressive (slightly dry and a bit bland in flavor) and some of the flavors of the side dishes I didn't really enjoy. Also the rice bun on the 25 burger was disappointing because it was too dense and only the bottom was crispy, making it difficult to eat. My favorite was the chirashi. SO yum and the most beautifully presented I've seen in Houston. The sashimi is cut thick and they give you fresh wasabi. Would definitely come back for this specific dish!

Yelp
I've passed by Twenty Five Teishoku House several times, and finally stopped by last Sunday to give them a try since they are running a BOGO entree special from Jan 16th to Feb 13th as a part of their one year anniversary. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and when our group of 4 arrived, we were seated immediately. We received their regular menu, and their BOGO menu, which showed that only some entrees qualified for the buy one get one. From the BOGO menu, I ordered the hamachi kama, while my husband got their hamburg steak. Both of these were a signature set entree, which comes with a rice, a salad, miso soup, and two sides. The sides appear to be randomly assigned based on the fact that two others in our group had ordered the same entrees we did, but we all received a different combination of side dishes. After placing our order, our salads arrived immediately, but it took quite some time after that for our entrees to arrive. The hamachi kama was perfectly cooked, but the seasoning on it was very mild, and it definitely needed the lemon to help in the flavor department. On the other hand, I sampled my husband's Hamburg steak, and thought that it was perfectly seasoned. The beef patty was juicy and flavorful, and the stock at the bottom of the bowl added on another layer of savoriness. Overall, while the food was good, it wasn't anything amazing. While they're doing their BOGO, their food is a great deal, but outside of that, the price point at the low $20s for a lot of their entrees is a bit steep for what you get, and I don't see myself returning very often if at all.

Yelp
Wow the interior for this place is beautiful! I could tell that they put a lot of thought & effort into it. We specifically went here to get their BOGO deal for their 1 year anniversary! We were able to get the eel bowl, the tonkatsu signature set & the salmon to die for starter. The eel was my favorite - lots of flavor & a pretty big portion. However, the tonkatsu was a little dry. The meat was kinda tough too. I also noticed that the food does not come out hot. It was just slightly warm to room temp. I'm glad I got to try this while they had the BOGO but I'm not sure if I'd be eager to come back asap.

Yelp
On a Friday night at 7pm, Twenty Five was realllllyyy slow and I couldn't tell you why but I was able to get a table immediately. The server explained the menu and we started off with drinks. I got the El Chapo's Escape and IT WAS SO GOOD! If it wasn't so overpriced I would've had five. I got a teishoku plate with sashimi. I would recommend this, at $30 I got a salad, miso soup, rice, veggies, and high quality fish. We finished with mochi ice cream that I know they picked up from Kroger, not so worth getting that. The ambiance was really quiet for a Friday night but my friend and I were able to have our conversation and we had a great time.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday night but there was only one other table with a couple. They soon left and it was just us in the entire restaurant which was pretty bleak as the restaurant has such good vibes and a beautiful interior. For appetizers, we got the salmon tacos, which was such a unique concept! Loved the seaweed taco shell and the salmon was very fresh! There was a nice citrus flavor that complemented the salmon flavor well. For entrees, we got the chicken katsu teishoku set and the unadon rice bowl. The chicken katsu was very crispy and well made. The miso soup and vegetable sides all tasted very homemade and delicious, full of flavor! I did ask for more katsu sauce as it was delicious and I love having it extra saucy! The unadon was SOSOSOSO GOOD. We couldn't believe there was such a big piece of eel without any bones! It was delicious and very flavorful. Overall, the food was DELICIOUS and so tasty! However, it was definitely pricey so not sure we could come back often. Also, since we were the only table there, we had almost too much service as they kept coming to refill our waters and take away plates, and we felt bad that no one else was eating there, so it was difficult to truly enjoy the food. But I really hope people give this place a try because it is really good and deserves some attention!

Yelp
Met up with some family Friday afternoon! I'll definitely say it was worth the 30 minute drive for sure! First impressions: Did not expect this place to look like this. It was super nice inside and it is a perfect place for a date, hangout, etc. Service: All the servers/host were super attentive! Waters were refilled and everything was brought out in a timely fashion. Food: We got the Bacon Hug appetizer, which had an interesting texture. It almost reminded me of pulled pork bbq in flavor and texture. As my main dish, I got the tonkatsu curry. I've never had this before, I've seen it at other places, but I wanted to try something different. It ended up being really taste! The portion was good too! Was definitely full after this meal. Final thought: I would recommend this place to eat! It has many different options and is close to different things in katy asia town that you can grab after like boba, a movie, or other desserts! Definitely would recommend to try!

Yelp
The best Japanese food I've had!!! Ambiance is sleek and chill. Waiter and chef were on top of everything. Hot sake stayed hot nearly the entire time, unlike some places I've gone. A must try and a new favorite place!
google avatar

Kay H.

Yelp
Definitely worth trying! Excellent quality food. I love how they have fresh washabi and not the typical green paste you're given at any sushi place. It's not cheap but the price is competitive and priced well for the portion and quality of the food. They don't have the traditional sushi rolls but tacos hand roll instead. Everything was really fresh and fulfilling. The Unadon is amazing, sashimi was fresh. Ambiance can be both upscale or casual. Service was good. The only complaint is that food take awhile to come out and we were the only ones there. Maybe we went too hungry but spent 1.5hour there even when we left as soon as we're finished eating.

Yelp
Four stars to give them the benefit of the doubt for the dishes we didn't try. At first glance, the interior was gorgeous and the atmosphere was akin to fine dining so we expected great food and service. Drinks came almost 20 minutes after we sat despite us being the only four tables in the restaurant. When they finally arrived, the old fashioned was extremely sweet and the mango cocktail bland. We also ordered the grilled squid, and I can say for certainty that it was not good, and I have never had bad grilled squid in all the restaurants I've eaten it due to how simple it is. We waited 20 minutes for the first squid and it came out ice cold which was so bizarre to me because the restaurant was not busy. I brought it to one of the server's attention, asked if they could throw it back on the grill for a bit, and they immediately took it away to give me a new one, which was nice on the one hand but we then waited another 15 minutes for the second squid, which came out warm. Disappointingly, it was the flavor that put the nail on the coffin for me. There was no charred flavor or fragrance from a grill, but instead a very weird scent envelope the squid. It also doesn't help that they smother it in sweet eel sauce and togarashi which does not at all pair well with the squid. I knew the place wasn't authentic Japanese, but it doesn't seem to me that they know how to do Japanese food at all.

Yelp
I was in the Katy area with my family and found this place on Yelp. Food - We got the sets with different Katsus. (Great deal btw and lots to eat!) While waiting, we also ordered the Nori tacos (yellowfin tuna, unagi, and spicy salmon). Crowd favorites were the unagi and spicy salmon. The yellowfin tuna was good but think I prefer it not in a taco. For the sets, they rated between okay and good. It was definitely filling. We ended up with leftovers. I could've continued eating more tacos versus the set. Everything tasted fresh. Service - Attentive. Location - This place is near Katy Asia Town. We went for desserts there afterwards and it only took a few minutes to get there. In the complex where it's at, it didn't seem too busy and there were plenty of parking out front as well. We were also there on a weekday. Ambiance - Nicely decorated and clean. We were surprised that there was only one other group there. Think it's because of location so it felt like a private dining experience, which we were totally okay with. Overall good. My rating is between a 4 and 5 so rounding up :) Adding in menu for anyone who wants to see what they have. I was told they designed it themselves. Thought that was cool.

Yelp
Hidden gem of a sushi place. Everything was super fresh and came out quick. The place was spotless and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the design and layout. Nice touches like chopsticks resting holder. Mine was a peapod. The owner came up and made sure we were satisfied. Each dish was wonderful.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place after passing by it so often! The restaurant was pretty quiet and empty when we came on a Thursday afternoon. Our server was super nice and attentive. Salmon to die for (2/5): There was not enough sauce to complement the salmon, so the flavor was a bit underwhelming. Yellowtail carpaccio (3/5): Fresh cuts of fish! The jalapeno was a nice touch. Eel and spicy tuna handrolls (3/5): The eel was well cooked and seasoned. The spicy tuna was not spicy, but it was fresh. Both had avocado, cucumber, and imitation crab. The seaweed gave a nice crunch to the handroll. Tonkatsu lunch set (3/5): The tonkatsu was a bit overcooked and dry but the sauce helped. I was not a big fan of the slaw, but the miso soup was good. Overall, our meal was filling but overpriced for what it's worth. The food was not very memorable, but I would consider returning to try other dishes.

Yelp
This has been on my list for quite some time and was excited to try. My friend and I happened to get there during happy hour and tried the tacos and the mushrooms. The tacos has the taste of an average handroll, and for a better experience ask for some eel sauce or spicy mayo to top the taco. The mushrooms wrapped in bacon with truffle bbq was interesting. I think without the truffle in it, I wouldn't have known the difference because the bbq sauce is just too strong to notice the truffle flavors. It's good but the price and for the truffle taste, not worth for me. The squid "ika" is addictive drinking food and/or snack while you wait for your entree, highly recommend. Ok the teishoku trays, the katsu is the best you'll have here in Houston. Absolutely love the katsu entrees, juicy, crispy, sauce is addictive and the sides that come with were a nice touch. The Kama, could use more citrus, and some salt as it lacked flavor but was overall moist and well cooked. Overall, some hits and misses but can't go wrong either the squid and the katsu at this place. I'll have to try more next time.

Yelp
Food: 9/10 Service: 6/10 Ambiance: 6/10 A friend of ours really wanted to try this place out so we decided to give it a try during one of our GNOs. We came on a Tuesday night and it was empty so we were a bit reluctant. The ambiance was great but it would've been better if they played some music since we could hear every little thing as we were the only customers for a while. The service could be better since we were one of the few customers there. Food was great! It is a bit pricey but I wouldn't complain bc the quality of the fish and presentation was exemplary. We got the hand rolls and they were one of the better hand rolls I've had. Very filling and the nori was fried, I believe. We also got the black tonkatsu which is a truffle and cheese tonkatsu. It was ok, I've had better tonkatsu. There was no truffle flavor at all. We also ordered the hamachi Kama which is a grilled yellowtail and this was one of my faves. Very flaky and cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Chirashi bowl and it was very filling and fresh. It had eel, yellowtail, squid, salmon, roe, imitation crab on a bed of rice. I also ordered Uni sashimi and it was one of the best unis I've had. So fresh and literally melted in my mouth. It was $20 for 2 pieces at mkt price. Their wasabi is so fresh and one of the better wasabis I've had. A must w sushi. I would definitely come back and try the other stuff on the menu as their menu is pretty extensive.

Yelp
Came here for a Yelp event and this place quickly became a new favorite! As soon as you walk in you get a upscale vibe and are greeted by very friendly staff. The decor is beautiful and looks both great for a date night or family dinner. I was fortunate to meet Bing the owner and hear his story about how he came up with the idea of this beautiful restaurant and the meaning behind the name. The detail in his dishes is truly next level. Every dish I had was amazing. Such great flavor and the attention to the presentation of each one shows his love for food. Each dish looked like a piece of art. I can't wait to come back and try more items off the menu!
google avatar

Helen K.

Yelp
Very friendly service. Rare to find Japanese home style cooking outside of japan. The decor is a little intimidating because it feel too fancy for home style comfort food. A little hidden gem and hopefully more people discover it. It feel a bit empty for a Friday night. Please support this place.

Yelp
I came here for a Yelp elite event and it was just so much fun! I was really impressed with this establishment and with the owner. The restaurant was spectacular. I loved the decor and also the bathrooms are beautiful. The staff was super professional and friendly. I really liked hearing the owner talk about his inspirations and restaurant concept. The food was excellent! Japanese food is one of my favorite cuisines. We started with an edamame. Simple and delicious. I was so happy to see authentic sake being served in traditional cups. I very much enjoyed the sampler platter of small bites that was served at our Yelp event. My favorite items were the miso soup and the grilled octopus. The miso soup was packed with flavor. The octopus was well cooked and seasoned. Will definitely come back just for these two items! The dumplings and pickled daikon radish were also awesome. I really enjoyed everything but those were my favorites. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!
google avatar

Bryan V.

Yelp
The hamachi kama teishoku set was a satisfying, comforting meal. The yellowtail was cooked well as the fish was juicy and tender. I was surprised by how large the portion was! The miso soup, pickles, and veggies rounded out the meal perfectly. As for the handroll, I was disappointed by the quality of the tuna. It did not taste fresh and the texture was a bit off putting. I would've liked it to be more spicy as well.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
A real hidden gem that you should try! Great food and beautiful setting. We have the tempura shrimp and the teriyaki salmon both which were perfectly presented and cooked. I was such a positive experience. We were puzzled why on a Friday night, the place was so empty. I hope they're able to get the word out and get more people into the restaurant that's worth your visit. There's so much care to attention to the details, one place that has been overlooked is the music- its not adding to the vibe of the space. The wait staff needs some work.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a very high expectation about this newly opened restaurant before I went. It was a Sunday evening but the restaurant was almost empty. The interior looks pretty decent and the washroom is clean. The menu looks great (although somewhat overpriced) and we ordered grilled squid, tonkatsu set and the salt-grilled mackerel set. The grilled squid was the best dish of all the food we had and that's the only thing I would recommend from tonight. The tonkatsu is ok-ish but the cabbage on the side is not fresh and looks like they've been out for a while. The miso soup does not taste good either. The mackerel was one of the worst I've ever had (I've tried mackerel set in more than 50 restaurants across the US). The texture was soggy and not fresh either. The servers were very attending and helpful. But I was expecting a lot higher food quality at a restaurant of that price range.
google avatar

Ming W.

Yelp
My favorite hand rolls in Katy area. I come mainly for that item. Handrolls are large and much better value and similar freshness to the likes of Handies Douzo etc. Love the eel and ama ebi handrolls. Its more like a seaweed taco with cucumber/avocado and has no rice which actually differentiates it from other places. Cold noodle was also pretty good.
google avatar

Tim F.

Yelp
Today was their Grand Opening. So of course they had a few hiccups. No problem at all. We sat at the bar since the wait was really long. The place is beautiful! The decor is very grand and relaxing. It makes you want to stay a while and order more and more Sake! The bartender was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with her recommendations! We ended up ordering my the Salmon Teriyaki Signature Teishoku Set, 1 Handroll (taco) Eel and 1 Shrimp Tempura for our meal to share and try. The Handroll tacos are amazing! The fact that they deep fried the seaweed to make the shell was super awesome and unique! The whole taco was flavorful and not over cooked at all on either. Salmon Teriyaki Signature Teishoku Set was amazing as well. Everything blended well and it is definitely something you can share with your partner and not feel cheated on with. The only thing that stood out as a "negative" was more of a personal opinion. But I wish that the rice would have been sticky rice so that it would have been cleaner and easier to eat with the salmon. But if that was my only issue, then I promise you you'll be beyond satisfied! Hands down, 10/10 especially once they figure out their timing and the wait for food is drastically long anymore!

Yelp
Just beginning their soft opening, I stopped by for lunch. This is such a beautiful restaurant! The denim wall is unique and stylish and the tables and chairs comfy yet chic. But how's the food? They're still tweaking the menu but I ordered the teriyaki shrimp and it did not disappoint! There were plenty of shrimp atop a bed of grilled onions which provided lots of flavor. It came with a fresh romaine and cucumber salad, rice topped with furikake, spinach and enoki salad, seaweed salad, and a cup of warm miso. I can't wait to try more of the eclectic fusion menu. The service was great and the owner came out to check on me. I also appreciated how accommodating he was to a family who came in with a toddler. I'm glad I got in on the ground floor because this place is going to be packed soon enough!

Yelp
Food was good. You get a lot for the price you pay. It's not busy during the weak and the place is very clean. I would come back.

Yelp
If you haven't been here yet, you gotta try this place. The food-a nice break from the usual Japanese fare. They're not afraid to give their own take of different dishes. One surprise was the hamburg patty which my kid ordered, I would never think to get ground beef at a place where i can get raw fish lol, but it was so good! Everything was so interesting and delish. Oh, and can't forget the bacon hug..and the hamachi sashimi was so fresh. Charlotte, our server was attentive and so fun. Also, the space is SOO tastefully done and beautiful. GREAT ambiance. And it was sooo clean (yes, even the bathrooms were spotless!). Already looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Visited this place with my family the other night. The interior of the restaurant is nice -- not too fancy, not too casual. I ordered a sweet green tea for my drink. It was good but it's definitely on the sweeter side for those who don't like things too sweet. For my main meal I got the tonkotsu. The tonkotsu itself was okay; a little dry even with the sauce all over it. The rice tasted a little old like it had been sitting there for a while. The miso soup, seaweed salad, etc that came with the meal were nice, though. Lastly, I ordered a salmon handroll. This one I really enjoyed! The salmon was very flavorful and fresh. Would definitely order it again if I came back. No problems with service since it was just us and one other table dining there at the time. Overall, I think the food is a little overpriced for what it's worth but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to coming back and trying other things on the menu!

Yelp
Great quality food that reminds me of the food I had while traveling in Asia. I appreciate the details they put into the interior design and food plating.

Yelp
upon stepping inside, you'll notice that twenty five teishoku house is a super beautiful place--the building itself is elegant and the interior decorations are on point. the food is also super tasty. they have many items to choose from, and we ended up getting the edamame and gyoza for starters and then the tonkatsu teishoku, salmon teishoku, and unadon. the teishoku sets both came with salad, miso soup, and side dishes. i especially liked the unadon--the eel was so soft and tasty. they also have an extensive drink menu to choose from (including mocktails!) service is also polite and attentive. overall, this place has excellent food and vibes. i would definitely recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Wow wow this place is a sleeper in regards how good it is and the general experience! We got a few items from the menu and tried the main course that they are known for. The service was great and was helpful when picking our selections very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu, the vibe is great for first dates and just good in general for catching up as well

Yelp
This place was absolutely immaculate and beautiful inside. My husband and I both got a traditional set and the service was wonderful. We were shocked we were the only ones in there. I feel it should be full. I feel maybe the location could be playing a factor because it is right next to a very popular ramen spot. In the time we were there, 26 people went to the restaurant next door and I wanted to say come in here you won't be disappointed. My husband and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful place to enjoy! This restaurant is a treasure in Katy! A must try. The food was so good and the service was spot on. Our server Alberto was knowledgeable about everything on the menu, we asked lots of questions. This family style Japanese place is a unique experience. Bing, the owner spent time talking with us and sharing his vision behind 25 Teishoku House. Thank you for a great meal, great date night. We will be back. Especially for those Bacon Hug Appetizers!!!

Yelp
Ate lunch here today and, OMG, previous Yelpers were right. Hike your fanny over here, quick. This was some seriously excellent food. I'm picky about fresh fish and everything sang, gang. It was all mouthwatering, it was all gorgeous. This is a lovely place. The ambiance is perfect for a gathering or night out. I really hope Katy shows them love and that they succeed!

Yelp
Starting with the positives...the decor is unique and creative. Seating time was quick. And the sushi was good quality. The wait time is why I gave a one star. Which means it was a significant impact in our experience. There were two parties that were seated previous and the staff used "catching up on orders" as the first excuse. After that the excuses were non stop. My dish was prepared incorrectly which they offered to give a refund and prepare a second but the wait time was so horrendous that I wouldn't even stay to have them prepare a second. Needless to say they need to work on the kitchen and how they can work efficiently and effectively.

Yelp
For context: I lived in Japan for 3 years. Most of my Japanese restarant experiences in Houston have been highly disappointing. Houston Japanese places often miss the mark on food: (execution, quality, and presentation) and on service: (friendly and attentive). Twenty Five Teishoku House? They NAIL IT! And as a bonus, they add their own creativity to their dishes without sacrificing authenticity. My recommendations: -The grilled squid. Like everything, perfectly cooked. If you don't like spicy, ask them to hold off on the chili powder. -The fish tacos. Finally someone serves them with crunchy nori! -The eel. Eel is polarizing for some, but for those who love it, it's you won't find better. -The tonkatsu and the tempura. Breaded and cooked just right. Not oily nor lumpy. -The atka mackerel (e.g. "Hokke" in a Japanese izakaya). As it's Japan-only, it must be frozen and flown in from Japan, which worried me a bit. It was meaty (a little heavier than Saba) but it wasn't "fishy" at all. They also have great cocktails and a nice assortment of Japanese whiskey, the latter of which is practically unobtainium these days. Including: -Suntory Yamazaki 12 and Hakushu 12 -Suntory Hibiki -Nikka Miyagikyo and Yoichi I liked everything but Yoichi, as I tend to like the less smoky stuff. Finally, the restaurant decor is modern and lovely. If they were located in Asia Town I suspect I'd never get a table. But it's easy to walk in almost anytime and there will be tables available. I hope business increases, but for now, I'm glad I can show up without a reservation or waiting in line.

Yelp
This was my first time and the interior was really pretty. I love the Teishoku style with all the little plates of sides as it's rare to see that at Japanese places here in the states. Everything was delicious! It took a little time so they chef gave us mochi ice cream for free. My only thing was that I ordered the shrimp tempura but it seemed like it was fried shrimp or "ebi-ten" but it was good regardless. Service was amazing! Will be back

Yelp
The first thing you'll notice is the beautful bar, ceilings, cool seating and decor. This is a place you'll want to stay and relax for awhile. The menu is fairly small but this time we tried the "tacos" and a set. The set came with the protein, soup, salad, two kinds of veggies (which change often based on what on fresh ingredients they have), and rice. Beautiful presentations, including the flatware set on the table. The spicy tuna taco was my favorite! The taco holds up so well and it is quite filling. The hamachi kama was full of flavor and cooked to perfection!

Yelp
While the ambience was very nice, clean, well decorated, the food and service lacked. I came in for the handrolls because someone had posted about them on social media. I ordered hamachi, shrimp, eel, and spicy tuna. The seaweed paper was still very crispy, but I didn't like how bland it tasted. The raw fish (tuna and hamachi) were not very fresh. It definitely had an odor to it. The eel and shrimp were the better choices. Not great but not bad. There was 1 other table yet our server was not able to be found. While staff looked over, no one bothered to help the customers that were constantly turning their heads left and right to find their server. Until we got up, the entire staff said good bye? Very strange atmosphere for average food

Yelp
My husband and I are very experienced Japanese sushi and sashimi foodies. When we moved to TX from Canada, where by British Columbia there are lots of great Sushi/Sashimi restaurants, TX? Not so much. We tried almost a dozen restaurants in Houston area and find that the fish, which is the soul of sashimi are just not fresh. Till we found Twenty Five Teishoku House !!! What a difference! I can tell the fish selected is high quality, fresh, and the dishes are crafted with heart and care. The sashimi is big thick pieces that your tongue can dance with in your mouth, and they have fresh wasabi to go with it, not the wasabi you can get from HEB for $4.99. I really enjoyed their BBQ eel with rice. The meat is tender, with just the right amount of BBQ sauce, a good addition rather overpowering. My son loves their shrimp tempura, these are nice fresh sweet pink shrimps. And my husband loves this place as the ambience is elegant, fresh, relaxing and cozy, plus they have a full bar!! We had martinis, great drinks and a great time. Almost forgot, you gotta try their sashimi tacos! The flavors are amazing. This is a place with standards and class. I'd say if you are looking to have a $24.99 all you can eat type of "sushi & sashimi", you may not appreciate the great quality/ambiance/service and the price that comes with it. It is a little bit pricy than your average corner take-away sushi joint, however it absolutely worth it. And this place just opened for a month, the owner is very engaged with his customers on the floor and on yelp (saw many replies from the owner), so I think it's only gonna be better and better. Love it, this is the designated sushi/sashimi restaurant for my family now!

I'm thinking I didn't do a good job with my choices. I wasn't impressed with the food. Great decor beautiful space. Service was good

Yelp
Upon entering, it's a very welcoming space. Friendly and professional staff. I loved how simple the menu was, making it easy to order in good time. The drink menu was more extensive and my husband and I enjoyed choosing cocktails, which have very witty names. The food was very fresh and high quality, including fresh wasabi (not the paste). I've never had a handroll in taco form before and was pleasantly surprised by the very well-executed seaweed taco shell. We enjoyed every bite. We would definitely return to try other items on the menu. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Fabulously chic restaurant with unique dishes. The decor inside the restaurant is very cool and modern. Parking was easy and the staff were very friendly. The owner came by our table to check on us. The bacon hug was our favorite dish. It was savory and so flavorful. The yellowtail and spicy tuna tacos were very unique and yummy as well. The tonkatsu set was delicious, but I didn't love the veggies. Ours came with cucumbers which were somewhat bland and lotus root which had a heavy sesame flavor. The vegetables change depending on what is available. The miso soup was piping hot and yummy. The rice could be stickier but was ok. I would definitely come back to try some other dishes.

Yelp
Food: pretty descent. I love the taste of the REAL wasabi imported from Japan. Service: Cannot complain. Ambiance: Fantastic. Interior and exterior all thoughtful and opulent design. Recommend it for business lunch or dinner with your spouses.

Yelp
This is a cute and chill spot! Everyone was kind and helpful! The drink had just enough strength. I ordered hand rolls that are shaped like tacos, VERY innovative and a great way to set yourself apart when there's LITERALLY sushi joints on every corner! They were yummy and fresh also the tacos were a great size and stuffed ! I'll definitely come back!
