I am sad to say that this place has gone downhill since Miss Toni left. She was clearly to heart and soul of this place and kept the standards high.
This time, we came for brunch as opposed to our usual dinner. Our server was Destinie or "Desi" and she was nice enough, but she didn't seem to want to be at work. We were one of three tables for her and the other gentleman there. One of the tables came in after us, was waited on by the gentleman, got a steak and something else, and they got their food before us (we had eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy which shouldn't have taken longer than the steak).
One of my eggs was hard, which is blasphemous for eggs Benedict (as the whole point of the dish is to have the eggs poached and runny to add to the hollandaise sauce). Desi initially offered to replace the egg, but we didn't want to wait longer as we had already waited 40 minutes for our food. And yes, I am aware that food takes time to make and I know their policy on making the food, but the food had clearly been sitting under heat lamps based on my eggs' temperature and the film on my husband's gravy.
This next part isn't their fault, but my husband has cancer and is currently going through chemotherapy. He couldn't eat his meal because it was too spicy for him - that was on us for not inquiring how spicy the chorizo might be (normally he would have loved this, but the chemo has affected his taste buds horribly).
The part that is problematic is that Desi never questioned this. When a wife eats her entire meal, but the husband only has a bite, maybe two...any server who is worth their weight would have asked about it. Any of the servers when Miss Toni was around would have questioned it, but not now.
I can say, sadly, we probably won't be back anymore. We used to come by two to three times per year minimum prior to my husband's diagnosis just before Miss Toni left. We have been back twice since she has left and both times have been extremely subpar. The food isn't as good and the service has been lacking...it is honestly tragic because this used to be our favourite place to go.
