Google
This was a rare find. Though I had heard about this place I never realized just how close I had been ti the place. I had driven by it a dozen times and never thought of stopping. The pulled pork sandwich was outstanding , the onion rings are to die for and the waitress brought me some battered fries (their famous for these) to try. I was absolutely delighted with the service, the food and the old small town local restaurant experience. My waitress was second to none, the food arrived fast and hot. I highly recommend this place.

The wife and I went to Twin Oaks BBQ to have lunch. we had the Rib and sliced pork platter with 2 sides. Battered fries, slaw, Brunswick stew, BBQ beans. it was great, plus the waitress was very helpful and friendly. I recommend stopping by. you will not be disappointed.

If I could give a 6 I would. I was a certified bbq judge for over 20 years. My rule is if I get out of the car, and don't smell smoke at a bbq place get back in your car. Test one passed gloriously It's great when an owner allows the staff to be so helpful. Macey our server was amazing. When she brought our food she brought us some of the battered fries just to try. I hate the battered fries most places serve but these looked different. One bite and I knew. These weren't out of a bag these were home made. The creaminess and taste of potato shines thru. I thanked macey because my favorite thing my mother made growing up was homemade French fries and these are the closest I've had to those in decades. Not a bad start right Pot roast sounds good. even better when we heard it's made with the other white meat. A pork pot roast. Never had that and must have that. Tender and tasty chunks of pork with veg over rice with amazing gravy. If that wasn't enough it comes with 2 sides and cornbread. The cornbread was super cake-like with the appearance of pound cake. Mac n cheese was of the tender very cheesey not baked type. My chopped pork had a nice smoke flavor not overwhelming. When you been making pork bbq over 80 you know what you're doing. Super tender and tasty and well suited to the 3 sauces. My choice was hot. A nice vinegar bite but certainly mild enough for all I ordered a side of just out of the fryer green tomatoes. Well executed and a great side. We heard Macey describe the cole slaw to the women behind us. Ive been eating bbq and southern forever. I don't understand how I never had slaw with relish in it. After Macey was kind of to provide a small taste we ordered a side to go We took home a lb of bbq to go too We really came for the Brunswick stew. One of my girlfriend's side favorite dishes. On our way back from Savannah how could we not stop in Brunswick. The stew was excellent. So good we brought home a quart for dinner tomorrow We've eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and tons of places all over the country and several countries but our time here was great. Thanks Macey for being so nice, enthusiastic and fun thanks to the pitmaster for making good q and the kitchen for everything else. To the owner, don't change anything

I was impressed from my first step inside. Amazing staff that are welcoming and "eat their own food" as I was walking in, this is always a good sign!! I had to try the Brunswick stew for obvious reasons, and it was full of everything, including flavor. The fries were special almost felt like a potato that was cooked and then breaded and deep fried again..I ordered 3 meats (sorry no brisket), but I didn't even miss it their meats were that good. The Ribs were the clear winner as I'd put them up against any BBQ restaurants I've reviewed, easily a top 2!! The chicken was juicy and full of smoke flavor, the pork wasn't third best I just couldn't list them both at the same time... Such fresh smoky tenderness I was left fighting myself on which bite to take next.

I have been told by locals this is the best BBQ around Brunswick along with Gary Lee's. Finally had the opportunity to go by (employees requested them) for a carry out order. The carry out waitress was great and the food was amazing. The best part was an older lady (I believe the owner) overheard me say it was my first time...a few minutes lady she personally brought out my food and said "we are famous for our fries and you didn't order any so I threw some in". To my surprise she had added a very large fry to my order (which was amazing) at no charge. Sausage, pulled pork, fried okra, mac, fries were outstanding. I was shocked at how big the pulled pork and okra portions were. So the locals were right and I will definitely be back...if they do large catering events we will probably give them a call for our next company function. I can't say enough about their quality of food and customer service...very rare to find a place like this these days!

Google
Twin Oaks BBQ is one of the local favorites! Good BBQ for the area, although the ribs were a lil tough and saltier than I'd like. Generous portions for the price. There is plenty of indoor seating. Fried green tomatoes were top as well as the chipped pork. 👌

Google
Got a takeout pork sandwich and onion rings. The pork sandwich was packed with meat and flavor; the onion rings really good. My server was working in the rain. This is apparently one of the oldest restaurants in Brunswick. I'd eat there again!

Google
Such a great place and amazing southern hospitality. We had the bbq platter and boy oh boy was it delicious. Our server was amazing and very kind to us Canadians traveling far. Thank you !!

Yelp
They have the best French fries! Great service!!! One of the few places that have curb service. They have a wide variety on the menu and it is all good!!!

Yelp
Shannon, our server is a comedian. She is funny, with quick comebacks and friendly. We ordered chopped pork sandwiches, but we really came for the battered French fries. Everything was delicious and not a crumb left! This is a local dive hangout and when you leave the smell of bbq stays with you! The best!!
google avatar

Yelp
It's the best BBQ in town! You will always be greeted and served with true kind southern hospitality from their amazing staff.
google avatar

Yelp
The pulled pork sandwich was the real deal, as was the sides of lima beans and baked beans. This place is true soul satisfying food and worth a short drive off 95 when you are traveling. The staff is very Southern polite and the prices very reasonable. I would give this place 10 stars.

Yelp
We had some great BBQ & service this afternoon. We both had the chipped pork sandwich, baked beans and fries. All were outstanding! Love the battered fries! We will return next time in GA. Friendly server as well. Thank you!

Yelp
Went by today. Arrived @ 2:50 pm. Doors were locked. So parked in Curb Parking to get someone to come out. No one came out after 2 people working inside saw me out there. One opened the main door to let someone out and saw me sitting there. No one ever came to take my order and could not go inside. I know it was 10 minutes before closing but they are supposed to be open until 3 pm...not 2:50 pm. Very disappointing as it appeared that they did not care about my business. Why did this happen? It may be a while before I even try to return. This was bad business practice. I wish someone would explain to me why they lock the door before closing time? Or why no one came out to curb service either. Very frustrating and upsetting.

Yelp
Fries continue to be the best I've ever had. Slaw dog is exceptional, dog is grilled, bun is toasted, large size also, very filling and house made slaw is very good. Kids meals at 6.75 includes fries and drink. Service from Linda is remarkable! Did I say the fries are the best!
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Twin Oaks has been a local favorite since it opened in 1943. BBQ sandwich and fries is the main staple but the pot roast is fantastic too.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in while driving through Georgia. Great friendly service. We were served very quickly. Our table ordered smoked turkey and the BBQ sandwich. Both were very good!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing amazing Philly cheese steak. Their fries are good, crunchy, kinda different from your average place. I also had their country fried steak burger. I liked the batter on the steak, but the steak wasn't the best tasting in and of itself. Not too surprising for country fried steak and I did eat pretty much all of it, but I would recommend trying their BBQ or Philly cheese steak with some fries. The Mac and cheese had a nacho-ey cheese. Could be someone's style. All in all, I have to say the service was efficient and nice, plus the food was more than easy to Chow down. Would definitely be back.

Yelp
Was hoping for some good BBQ. Hopes dashed. I had the ribs with battered fries n beans. Ribs were dry like they have been sitting a little too long on the smoker. I really wanted to love the battered fries but its nothing special. I think it's missing something like a little Cajun seasoning on it. Mediocre!

Dennis M.

Yelp
Family went back a little later and it was back to the old outstanding ways. Must have just been a bad day. I can't wait to try them again.

Yelp
Twin Oaks BBQ is the best bbq you will find in America! They've been around since the 50's and still amazing food! Been coming here since 1985! They never disappoint and all the locals know it!

Yelp
Wow has this place fallen. It's been years since I've been to Twin Oaks and I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd stop in. What a mistake. I don't think they're cooking their own BBQ anymore. The jumbo sandwich I got had what looked like store bought BBQ. You know the kind, it's reddish looking, since it already has the sauce mixed in, and comes in a white bucket. It looks like sloppy-joe BBQ, all soft and mushy. I'd be willing to bet they now buy their BBQ from Sysco Foods. It tastes about like Shane's Rib Shak, if you ask me, which is SUPER garbage BBQ. I took one bite and threw the sandwich away and went to Southern Soul Barbeque and got the real deal. I don't eat factory made BBQ. There are too many real BBQ places around here to fool with this garbage. I'll NEVER EVER go back to Twin Oaks and I'll let every BBQ lover I know to now avoid them like the plague. What a shame. Edit: I did not visit the curb. I sat at the bar, inside, and ordered my sandwich to go. I've done this in years past and never received pre-mixed BBQ. FYI pre-mixed BBQ says to your customers that the meat is either bucket BBQ from Sysco Foods or its day old BBQ and your mixing it to hide that fact. Either way, it's just not a good look for a BBQ place. Just sayin.

Yelp
Twin Oaks seems to be the fav of locals, and now we know why. The pork sandwiches are delicious, the pork pleasingly smoked and the sandwich stuffed high (we included the not-too-mayonnaisey slaw on top). The sauce is vinegary, tomato-based and pretty tangy though not exceptional. A regular sandwich -- all we could eat -- goes for $4.95; add another buck for the jumbo. The French fries are nicely battered, crispy on the outside and almost mashed potato-like inside. Very good! The menu offers a variety of meats and sides, and lunch meat with two veggies is just $7.95. Twin Oaks also serves what looks like a yummy breakfast, though we haven't tried it. Nothing fancy here, but a lot for barbecue lovers to sample. Not the best we've had, but well worth a return visit. The servers are friendly, the atmosphere laid back and the building itself something of a relic. Just like most good barbecue joints, in fact.

Yelp
The food is still amazing after all these years!!! Brings back memories of growing up in Brunswick and my mother bringing us to see Mama and little Mary. Mama Mary was a the only person who could get me to eat tomatoes on my burgers as a kid. It might have been I could never tell her no or the bribe of the cobbler or crisp as it is called here in the north. Which is just as amazing as I remembered. The fries are still amazing and to die for The burgers were as I remembered just this time was a bit over done not enough to complain about. I go for med rare. I am a cook so maybe I expect more perfection. The slaw is one of the best on the east coast and the beans are quite formidable also. The waitress I had seemed to be really trying and had a rude customer at some point before me. She was still giving an incredible experience. I have never dined inside. I was going to it just didnt feel right. and I am glad I didnt my server was a gem. I did look around at the dining area looked dated and truckstop diner like. Which anyone that travels knows the best places put more love in the food than they do the decor. Can't wait to bring my kids and grandkids when I have time to visit family in Brunswick maybe we will use the diningrom then. Twin Oaks never dissapoints This is a definite must stop. If you are not from the area this is one place you need to program in your GPS!

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. It is so good, plus the service is outstanding. Keep up the good work guys

Yelp
One of the local people to the area said I had to try it. I can now say, I am a Twin Oaks fan. The smoked chicken was exceptional. I had the beans and Mac-n-cheese as a side. The owner and I chatted while I wait a very short time for my food. She said I had to try the fries and I then bought a third side of fries. If you have the opportunity to eat here, it is a must. They have limited hours for being opened, but great for lunch or early dinner. Thank you Darlene for your kindness and professional staff!

Yelp
Update!***** The battered fries are to die for. They're kinda like the ones Grandy's serves - but somehow better. And the customer service is great. But I have to say - I did not care of my ribs and my pulled pork was ground up - in that weird way that some barbecue joints serve it. And it was a bit greasy. I'm not really sure how to rate this place. 5 stars for customer service. 5 stars for the fries - but 1 star for the ribs and pulled pork. Ach! I'm going to go with 4 stars - the battered French fries are just that good. Lol. ************************************ Okay . . . so this review is a little premature. Because I haven't had the barbecue. General consensus among my family is that it's not good. But the battered fries are TO DIE FOR. My brother and Mother will actually drop in just to get an order - I sampled a few - and I had to agree. One of these days - when I'm feeling braver - I'll try a pulled pork sandwich and update my review accordingly.

Yelp
Ordered a Bacon burger and fries for the first time in my 17 years of living in Brunswick and turned out to be the best I have had in town, a little high price but worth it
google avatar

Elise P.

Yelp
This place is a great family BBQ. It is a preserved old diner, and they haven't changed their menu in years-- but it's a good thing. The food here is amazing, everyone at the table was pleased and happy. We drove an hour to taste some authentic Brunswick stew, and it was well worth the wait. The stew was the best we had ever had, and if we lived nearby, we would come again. If you are thinking about maybe coming here, you should.
google avatar

Yelp
The barbecue is good, the beans are great, and the fries are beyond outstanding. Twin Oaks is a Brunswick institution and a huge part of my childhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent bbq! Stopped on way back from vacation and so glad we did. Everything was excellent! Our waitress Brittney was amazing! Loved everything about this place. So glad we found it.
google avatar

Yelp
Twin oaks has changed a lot over the years but one thing you can always count on is Mrs.Linda being in a great mood and giving great service and most of the time the food is pretty good also..lol. So if your ever in Brunswick Georgia stop in and give it a try
google avatar

Yelp
Good BBQ place off 95. Worth the drive off the interstate if you are looking for a break from the road. The place seemed packed with locals, a good sign for a great place. Onion rings are extremely delicious. Fries are battered and very good yet I would prefer them to be as crispy as the rings. BBQ sandwich was good but the highlight was the fries and rings.

Yelp
Growing up in Brunswick, there were 2 restaurants that I would always beg my parents to take us: Willy's Wee-Nee Wagon and Twin Oaks. I have fond, nostalgic memories of the ultra-greasy grilled cheese (dipped in ketchup, of course) and battered french fries. We used to go around back and pick up to-go orders and eat the fries in the car...messy but SO good! I don't eat pig, so can't comment on the BBQ, but I'm sure it's quite nice as well.
google avatar

Dawn M.

Yelp
One of the best hidden gems of Brunswick! They have the most delicious battered fries and bbq!! It hasn't changed in over 20 years! If you're in the area, it's a must try!!

Tom O.

Yelp
Great battered fries. Really great staff who treat you like family. BBQ is wonderful. Excellent value. Stop in and you will enjoy it.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I travel on I 95 quite often. I normally eat at the GA Pig but was looking to find some other local flavor. I had a pork sandwich with fries and a sweet tea. You can definitely taste the local water in the tea which tastes a little like sulfur. It definitely reminds you of where you are. The fries are battered and I can not stand them. I will never get them again. The sandwich was very good though. The staff was nice but the town didn't seem that nice.
google avatar

Tee D.

Yelp
Rude, rude, rude! Decent food, but BAD SERVICE! And NASTY, RUDE attitude & an unfriendly environment. Such a shame the owner(s) and managers let the staff ruin what could otherwise be an enjoyable dining experience.
google avatar

Deb F.

Yelp
We were passing through Brunswick GA & looked for an independently owned BBQ joint have found Twin Oaks. We were met by friendly southern hospitality. We both ordered pulled pork sandwiches. He got the battered fries which were very tasty & I got baked beans made in house with pork in them & they quite tasty too. I'd go back again.

Logan B.

Yelp
Friendly people all around! I would suggest the BBQ cheese fries! It's a huge amount, and so worth it! I've never had them till I went to Twin Oaks, and they are the best ever!
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
This place was a refreshing find! We wanted some BBQ and brunswick stew while we were visiting Jekyll Island. The fries are battered which were divine. The pulled pork was well smoked. The brunswick stew was different than what I am used to, but still delicious. It was chunkier than what I make at home, but that didn't stop us from devouring it. My toddler actually ate off of our plates which is always a win. Anytime she eats something besides chicken fingers I'm astounded. There is a lot of history on the walls. I wish I had had more time to look at everything there. We will be back next time we visit the coast!
google avatar

Donna G.

Yelp
My husband and I miss The Georgia Pig and when he asked online why it closed, it started a thread about good BBQ in Brunswick. This place got several mentions so we decided to give it a try. The fries are awesome! The BBQ however...there's not enough sauce in the world to save it. It was bland and greasy.
google avatar

Guerry N.

Yelp
Twin Oaks Barbecue, named for the big live oaks out front, has been one of the Brunswick's better known restaurants for country cooking for years. I passed by this restaurant for the last 50 some odd years but never went in and tried their food. My wife and I recently ate at this older establishment and it will not be the last meal we have there. They have a daily special which includes a meat with two sides and ice tea all for $7.95. I had the country fried steak which was excellent, like my Grandmother use to make. I had the field peas and fried green tomatoes which were to die for. This is probably the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had and the serving was huge. My wife has the BBQ sandwich which was also very good. She also had the french fires which Twin Oaks is known for. There are battered and very crispy. You feel like you have gone back into time at Twin Oaks. Everyone is very laid back and they even have a corner dedicate to Marilyn Monroe. They also have a lot of older pictures of the Brunswick area on the wall. This is a must try if you like good southern BBQ and vegetables. We can't wait for a return visit which will probably be next week.
google avatar

Yelp
Best fries on the planet. Ribs are wonderful. Actually everything is great. Generous servings, super friendly staff. This looks like a hole in the wall. ..and really, that is exactly what it is! But who cares about looks when you get awesome BBQ.
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
Delicious BBQ in a great atmosphere. The hours are slim - it closes early daily. The place is always busy. The fries are heavenly.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Can't understand why all the excitment about the fries. They are coated with flour which gives them a, guess what, floury taste. The pulled pork was somewhat dry and the sauce didn't add much to the equation. The service was indifferent. I've had WAY better 'que
google avatar

Bernadette C.

Yelp
Whatever happened to barbeque restaurant that was next to the factory outlet stores that closed several years ago.? My friend loved their ribs & she's real sick. Thanks
google avatar

C M.

Yelp
I used to go there all the time when I lived in Brunswick about 40 years ago. Nice to know they are still around. I STILL get cravings for the battered fries. Wish I had the recipe since I live in California now..
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Beautiful live oaks and spanish moss on the outside and a great whiff of barbecue led to high expectations. Despite the very friendly and helpful curb service, it was not to be, though. While the chipped pork barbecue and the chicken both had good flavor, both were overly dry. As others have said, the fries were excellent, though.
google avatar

Trevor B.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ at a very reasonable price. This establishment is always busy and deservedly so. The cole slaw is unique, fries are wonderful, and pulled pork is to die for. I highly recommend this place.

Bill O.

Yelp
Traveling on I-95 with your dog or sleeping children? Twin Oaks is one of those rare places with curb service! Plenty of space if you are pulling a camper or driving a large one. And then you can get the FRIES! Get their Bbq sauce for the fries instead of ketchup. Bbq is good, chipped and smoky. As is the case with many Bbq places, their burger is also very good.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Always included in our trips to coastal Georgia, this place has the best BBQ, battered fries, onion rings, slaw, and grilled cheese. Plus they have a super friendly atmosphere. We love it!

Brian W.

Yelp
Best BBQ in Brunswick. Not a fancy place but takes you back to a different time. A lot of people like Southern Soul but for the price this is a much better deal and better BBQ. Battered fries are the best I've ever had. Sweet tea will curl your teeth just like real southern sweet tea should. Staff is friendly and fast. Many have been there for years.
google avatar

Jack P.

Yelp
Visited Twin Oaks yesterday. Had the pork sandwich and french fries. Those fries are incredible, I mean really, really good. I usually don't get excited about fries, but DAMN! The sandwich was busting at the seems with really nicely smoked pork, and the sauce was very nice as well. The sweet tea was dead on it as well. I would recommend a visit anytime....The old school vibe was very cool, and the wait staff was very accomodating.....Check it out!!!

Tranquil U.

Yelp
The battered fries are worth the trip alone. I wish I knew the recipe. They're only open until 3pm, so hurry in for your fix.

Pauline M.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way back up north coming from FL. So glad we did, very excellent mom & pop. I ordered the pulled pork bbq plate combo with fries and slaw. The battered fries are super delicious, definitely a must have. I think they're made in house from fresh potatoes. Pulled pork was great as well, I smothered it with bbq sauce. Overall, delicious food and wonderful service. My only complaint would be that the entire place smells of pit smoke, but that just means they're cooking up some good a** BBQ in the back!

Jo M.

Yelp
My husband does not care for their food so I took one star away on his behalf. (Then I gave it back since he prefers McDonald fries.) However, I crave their French fries! I've been eating there off and on since the 70's and only on several occasions my order of fries have been less than expected, (seemed like the bottom of the barrel potatoes and warmed a bit too long under a light) so I began to request only freshly cooked fries and although I don't believe a customer should have to ask for this, I can't say I've been disappointed. The batter is a crispy coating on the potato making it scrumptious! I'm a patron as long as they are open!

Yelp
I originally grew up in Brunswick and frequented the Twin Oaks restaurant frequently. Now over forty years later I have been all over the United States and currently live in Nebraska. I can honestly say I have not found anywhere in the US (and I have lived from GA to CA) that makes French fries like the Twin Oaks. I think they are the best in the US.
