Twinkle Boba & Tea Lounge

A boba spot in a quiet, little plaza. There are many, many boba spots in this neighborhood and many are located in areas where it might take you half an hour to find parking, not this place! We came here when the place just opened for the day and it was quiet, the owner was patient and friendly. There was a big group of us and he was the only one taking the order and making the drinks. It took a while for our orders to come out but each drink was delicious. The tea tasted fresh and I thought the 50% sweetness level is the perfect level of sweetness for me. The two drinks that really stood out to me were: - strawberry milk tea - honey mint tea Strawberry milk tea: had bits of strawberry (jam?) in the milk tea which added a nice texture. Honey mint tea: refreshing, thirst quenching drink, especially for a hot day.

Today I tried Twinkle Boba & Tea Lounge for the first time and I'm so glad I stopped by. If you're looking for a quick review all you need to know is that the Tea is excellent (and fresh brewed!), the boba was perfect and I can't wait to stop by again soon. Definitely give it a try. If you want more detail, here you go. I was greeted by the owner, Derick. He greeted me warmly and answered all of my (many) questions. I ordered the "Half&Half" milk tea which has boba and pudding. The tea was fresh brewed and delicious. Not too sweet (and adjustable if you'd like more sweetness, but the base level was great). The boba was made fresh that morning, which he said they do everyday. Some shops obviously don't make it fresh, and that's the worst! the pudding had a great flavor and great texture too. I love when it has some firmness, it's more satisfying that way. So many tea shops are out of pudding when I visit, it drives me crazy, so I was super happy to find that they had some freshly made and that it was so tasty. I ended up chatting with Derick while enjoying my tea and he was a really nice guy. Our conversation was great, a perfect addition to the tea and I'm so glad he took the time to speak with me. I'll definitely be back again soon, and I'm so glad to have them here in San Diego. My kids are going to love it, and my wife is excited to try the cheese foam. I'll report back once we've tried more stuff. If you're in the area it's worth a visit for sure.

I had the taro cloud which has taro chunks in it! some recommendations : the drinks didn’t have descriptions on what’s in them on menu, which can be confusing for nontraditional drink names. would recommend including them on menu. Would also recommend including if drink has caffeine or not.

First time my family and I tried this place and it was great! The guy that helped us was really nice and helpful too. Drinks were delicious 🤤!

Update October They did better than I expected. The drink was good, the decoration was fine, and the menu was beautiful, and clear to check. •~~•||•~~•<>•~~•||•~~• (review before opening) I drink before it opens. I like matcha strawberry and some drinks don't have it on the menu. I will come back and keep updated.

We got the Cosmic Dream lemonade with boba and the Brown Sugar Brûlée Latte which were both so good! The lemonade was so refreshing and beautiful! The Brown Sugar latte was perfectly sweet and the boba was a great texture! The person at the counter was very sweet and friendly!

Matcha brulee with ice cream did not disappoint! Came here based on reviews. Looked at what others ordered and all boba looked amazeballs! Love the music in the cafe as well! We'll be back to try other drinks!

Really solid drinks here! I like the Taro Cloud Milk Tea drink here even though I'm picky with taro drinks. This drink still has a natural taro taste as opposed to other places that have very artificial tasting taro drinks. The boba quality is great. Service is friendly as well. I come later at night and usually only see one person working. The space is clean and bright. I like how there's some outdoor seating as well.

I'm on the hunt for the best boba in San Diego because I've been having mad milk tea cravings. Ironically, I don't actually like the boba part. I'm more of a pudding girl, so I'm only trying to hit places with pudding. I found Twinkle Boba and Tea Lounge to be really good! I got my husband the matcha brulee and it was perfect. I got myself the taro cloud. What I didn't love, but think is great, is that they use real taro puree at the bottom of the cup. I must like the fake stuff more, but if you're looking for real taro, come here! Everything was good, but I'm still on my quest!

TEXTURIZED BOBA (3.25 stars) Tried a new spot out to just try. This boba spot was in a very small plaza compared to all the other plazas in Convoy. Parking lot was empty and so was the boba place. What strikes my curiosity were pictures that I saw drinks appeared more texturized. :: ORDER :: They didn't have Honeydew so I went for the other basic safe flavor, Taro. TARO CLOUD MILK TEA ($7.25) - 50% sweet - regular boba It came out pretty and tall. However, the first sip threw me off. The taste of Ube was too light and on my first sip a chunk of mushy blob entered the mouth and a few boba pearls. It was chunks of soft taro root. At first, I wasn't a fan. Then I accepted it and didn't mind it. But then shortly after I was over it. I love texture in desserts and drinks but the mushiness close to mash potatoes - wasn't for me. The taro root didn't add any flavor of taro and my milk tea lacked taro flavor. I will admit I did like the boba pearls, they were nice and soft. Until the next review...

We went here earlier in the year, and it is a solid boba shop. We wanted to try the Taro Cloud but no coworker at the time knew how to make one of the ingredients that was out. We opted for one of the milk teas and fruit teas - can't go wrong with either. The boba pearls had a good chew to them as well. Friendly service, and helpful too. We went around 5pm, and nobody there to look at their clean aesthetic. Small parking lot right out front.

I was at convoy so I wanted to try a boba place, I went to Twinkle boba and tea lounge and wow, their drinks have a lot of flavor and different variety in one drink! The staff was also excellent! Definitely recommended

The honey Mint tea very good!!! Jasmine green tea with grass jelly is a good combo as well Staff was nice and suggested facility is clean. May try the brown sugar brûlée latte next time.

Cute little family operated spot! Went here on a whim and found the service to be quick and easy. It's a cozy boba shop and they have lots of options. I ordered the Taro Cloud Milk Tea and it was pleasantly delicious. The taro had that slight nutty taste and the mill tea complimented it well. Parking is small but I'd definitely go back.

I saw the sign for this boba shop and couldn't wait to try their drinks when they opened. I chose the taro cloud milk tea, golden nova, honey mint tea, and brown sugar brûlée latte. All four drinks were very pretty and refreshing. The honey mint tea was very interesting! They use alkaline water here, which has a lot of health benefits! Would love to try their other top favorite flavors!

Twinkle Boba is probably the best boba drink place in San Diego that we visited. Their service was quick and friendly, and the ambience was cool and vibrant. The place definitely had that clean, young, hipster vibe but don't let that "vibe" fool you when it comes to Twinkle's drinks. You will be wanting to come back for more as we did for our short 5-day vacation. My family and I literally drove 2 miles in and 2 miles back every day because we loved Twinkle's drinks so much. We'll be back. Most definitely.

My fiancé and I found this place on yelp and it was a great find! We ordered the Golden Nova and the Strawberry Milk Tea. The Golden Nova was a light and refreshing drink with fruit infusions. The Strawberry Milk Tea was sweet, creamy, and also had bits of strawberry. I would get the Strawberry Milk Tea again! Service was great! We asked for a few recommendations and were able to chat a bit with the server. Our drinks were made promptly one by one and filled to the top. It was almost empty inside with plenty of chairs and tables. It would be a great place to study considering how large the tables are.

So cute!!! I indulged in a strawberry matcha which was super delicious and had great flavor. The tea is good, the service is super super nice, and the boba was nice and chewy. I would recommend to a friend!

The staff is very nice and welcoming! It is a cute little boba shop. It's in the same plaza as the godfather Italian restaurant. The lighting was dim. The music selection was interesting. The place isn't crowded. It was a bit warm inside. So, yet another boba spot in San Diego. We decided to come in to try this place out. The drinks were just ok. They sounded cool but tasted just meh. Could probably get better elsewhere. Tried the Taro Cloud Milk Tea and Matcha Brûlée. The taro paste was interesting, the actual taro drink tasted a mix of artificial and not. The matcha just tasted like a matcha milk tea - was expecting a nice Brûlée on top or ice cream scoop like some photos I skimmed through and saw. Probably not a boba place I will frequent unless I'm already in the area or in a plaza nearby.

The drink had no flavor. I tasted sweet water. I spit out the boba. Parking was easy, there was no one in the parking lot. Which makes sense now.

Solid boba teas here but their less ice is still more ice than I prefer and they don't have a selection for no ice... overall I enjoyed the strawberry matcha.

4.5 star because the boba is average. Service is great and the ambiance is good (plays EDM music). Been here twice and will more in the future. On a hot day I asked for my drink to be blended (which was not on the menu) but they were willing to make an exception. Strawberry smoothie and Thai tea smoothie was def. good.

Cute little place with plenty of drinks options. The person at the counter was very friendly and nice. I got the golden nova with 25% sweetness and my kids got the cosmic dream. Both very pretty and very refreshing drinks. The space was cute with games you can sit and place and the bathroom is super clean. I would recommend and will come back. They have a punch card as well.

Love their drinks, I get their mango lemonade and add cheese foam to make a cheesecake flavor, and their taro drinks are not too sweet! Owner is super sweet, always making sure we like our drinks too :) Cafe is always so clean and plenty of games to chill with friends.

One of the best boba shops in San Diego! I got the Taro Cloud Milk Tea which here uses real taro rather than the powdered version you get in other boba shops. The staff is super kind and very welcoming.

I randomly found this gem in Convoy area. My sister got the salted coffee milk tea and I got the mango green tea with boba. Both were really good!!! I love when you are able to choose the level of sweetness and how much ice you want. On top of how good the drinks were, the person who attended us was SO nice and friendly. The interior of the place looks clean, modern and new. We will go back!

My friends and I love boba and when we saw this new boba shop we wanted to try it but with the price and limited flavors, we always end up at Urban Bubble across the street. This time, I was by myself craving boba...so I thought I try it since it highly rated in Yelp. I had the taro smoothie at $7.50 including tax. The cup is large so maybe that's the reason why it's priced higher but I find the texture icey ..the ice is chunky not blended enough. I find the taro flavor below adequate. The place has good vibes...good music.

I got the strawberry lychee green tea and I love that it comes with toppings! It was still pretty sweet for me even though I got 25% sweetness, so just know the sweetness level here is very high. One thing is when I came here, the AC was broken eventhough it was during the heatwave. I recommend getting the drink to go rather than staying unless the AC has been fixed.

This is a gorgeous boba spot on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Super clean, friendly service, delicious peach green tea!! I'll definitely be back with all my friends!

Indeed another new bubble tea shop has debuted in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood. They proliferate so quickly that San Diego must have one of the highest number of boba tea spots per capita in this country. Twinkle Boba and Tea Lounge is located in the same plaza as The Godfather. There is not a large set of businesses here, therefore the common parking spaces were rather limited. Inside the suite, several tables could seat roughly 20 customers. The menu was divided into two screens on the wall to the left of the service counter. The first screen displayed the top eight drinks which was curious to me. I believe this is an independent local store so how did they determine these were the top drinks without having the benefit of customer preferences from another existing location? The second screen had categories of milk tea, fruit tea, original tea, lemonade, matcha, cheese foam, and smoothies. Regular toppings cost $0.85 each while the two premium toppings (cheese foam, creme brulee) were $1 apiece. My choice was #6 on the top drinks list... a Honey Mint Tea. I asked for less ice, regular sweetness, and the addition of boba pearls as modifications. The mint flavor was prominent, however the honey presence was muted. The boba chewiness was good so I had no complaints there. For the price and quality of the ingredients, I gave a rating of 3.5 stars and rounded up because of the solid service provided by the staff at Twinkle Boba and Tea Lounge.

Cute new boba shop that opened up in a quiet plaza off Convoy!! Tried the taro cloud milk tea which had a delicious taro paste and the strawberry smoothie. Both were fantastic! The boba wasn't as syrupy as I usually like it but still really soft and chewy. Had clean and aesthetic seating area, friendly staff, wifi, and clean bathroom too, so could be a good spot to study. Very new business so still working out some kinks - they seem to have some creative drinks like the golden nova and cosmic dream per the pictures, but no description on the menu. Would recommend that the business add these to the full menu along with a description of what's inside so that people might feel more encouraged to order them, they looked great from the pictures! Would also recommend that the business annotate on the menu which drinks are caffeine free (helpful for people like me who don't drink caffeine or are coming for a late at night boba fix). All and all an up-and-coming new spot that I'd highly recommend if you're looking to get away from the Convoy hype and bustle!

Thankful that they let me use their bathroom before I ordered! I was willing to order anything in order to thank them! Haha I got myself a golden nova and sat at a cute little table enjoying this wonderful treat. You'll find them in the same retail strip mall that houses Godfather, come and check them out.

This cute boba shop is in the same plaza as The Godfather restaurant. The restaurant's valet parking attendant may approach you as you park but just let them know you're getting boba. The store's super clean and nicely decorated. Their menu has a variety of options and I love how this mango matcha tasted. I got it 50% sweet with less ice and boba. Matcha is strong and forward and the mangos are fresh. I am very picky with my boba and their boba is qq. A bit on the firmer side but has good flavor and overall texture. My boyfriend got their thai coffee and that drink was not as good. The overall drink tasted a little watered down and not enough of the thai tea & coffee flavors. I would go back for this matcha drinks and to try their other fruit teas!

The weather is warming up. Great time for a boba! I got the golden nova today and added crystal boba. It's nice that they let you choose less sweet and ice. The service was great and the shop is so cute and clean!

Here's to another boba cafe in Clairemont, but this time a little east of Convoy. Went to their soft opening (8/26-8/27) and they had a special off their top drinks with buy 1, get the second 50% off. Getting there might be a little tricky since it's a little hidden inside a small plaza. Parking lot is limited but there are more spaces in the rear of the building. It's located where there's a Godfather restaurant and a spa and nail salon. There are seating inside and outside. Restroom is all gender. We ordered and tried a few of their popular drinks and the creativity is very nice. Even though it was real busy, the staff made every effort to perfect our drinks and they came out great! I think my favorite drink was the Cosmic Dream because of the unique mix of colors. Also the Twinkle Delight (half Thai tea, half coffee) was delicious! So once they fully open, there should be a full menu, so can't wait to try all their other drinks. I didn't see any food or snacks on their menu, so we'll wait and see if that's offered. So come out and support your local business and try out this unique boba cafe.

Kristy, the owner of Twinkle, is very passionate about boba and providing excellent customer services for her customers. She has done her due diligence in learning about the art of making boba and also taste-testing and researching the best ingredients to put in her drinks. Twinkle has a multitude of boba drink flavors (ube, matcha, mango, strawberry, passionfruit, etc.) A lot of these drinks are customizable by adjusting the sugar level, the type of milk and flavors. I had an event there for a photography meet and she was so hospitable and treated us like a mom trying to feed her children LOL . It's a cool spot to study as there are a lot of table spaces and outlets. The shop is located in a strip mall area next to a restaurant and massage parlors and other businesses - and everyone is really sweet. There is a good amount of parking space. I definitely recommend coming to visit Twinkle to try all their different flavors. I had the strawberry lemonade, the passionfruit tea, and the coffee flavor milk tea.

We stopped in on our lunch break and was surprised that there was so many parking space available. Not only is this a cute name for the boba shop but the inside was cute. Had boba ballon's and decorations hanging up. Super clean and modern inside. Since we came here for the soft opening week they had a limit menu. I got the thai tea with boba. The thai tea caffeine was super strong, stronger than most. Definitely woke me up. Thank you Twinkle for a nice wake up and can't wait to come back to try more on the menu.

AMAZING DRINKS!!! We got 4 drinks and they're all very good!!!! The mango milk tea is exceptionally good!!!! I can't wait to comeback and get more drinks and definitely get the mango milk tea again! Great customer service also. The owner is super nice and friendly. The store is clean and spacious too!

I live far away from this boba shop, and there's other boba places closer to me but I drive out here any time I want THE BEST BOBA IN TOWN Their Brown Sugar Brûlée Latte is my favorite, and I like that you can adjust the sweetness. I usually do 25% sweet. The owner and employees are super friendly every time I stop in. Cute space to hang out, and always easy parking here unlike the other places on Convoy.

We had the Taro Cloud Milktea. It consists of taro paste at the bottom, taro tea in the middle and jasmine green Milktea at the top. Hence creating a cloud. Due to the taro paste this drink taste authentic and extremely taro flavored which I loved. Oftentimes the taro milk teas are way too sweet but you can definitely tell this one is made with love and quality ingredients. Highly recommend this gem! Parking is ample and the staff is always so friendly.

Pretty excited to see this shop in SD. I first tried it years ago when they were still in Little Tokyo in LA and was sad when they closed. Had a few drinks here the last few months and they have always been made well and with good quality ingredients. I recently tried a mango matcha and it was so so good! Not sure how they made the mango puree but it tasted pretty fresh and had fun bits of mango chunks in it to chew on. Staff here is very nice and patient and they even made sure I liked my drink, even if an adjustment is not formally offered on the menu, they made sure that it was made to my liking. Very sweet of them, especially as a new shop, they do show they care about their customers. Parking can be rough on the weekends since it does share a lot with what seems like a busy restaurant. Additional parking can be found around the back as well

As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a very warm welcome. The staff make it enjoyable all by itself, but it's definitely a bonus that they have very delicious boba drinks. Any drink with taro is going to be exceptional to me. But they also have some other killer flavors. It's not a very large place, so it's pretty cool to post up with your laptop or a few friends to hang out and kill some time with some tasty drinks or grab a few to go.

The name is adorable, the firm cups with branding were definitely a must-have to reuse later, and the inside was super clean and orderly. It was our first time here, so I ordered a milk tea with boba 75% sweet since the boba is sweetened with brown sugar and it was perfect. We also ordered a mango green tea with crystal boba and it also comes with mango pieces. We'll be back for sure to try all the drinks!

Finally in San Diego!! Drinks are great and the owner was super nice. I tend to panic order and everything has been super tasty. Usually stop at Twinkle in Monterey park heading back from LA. A new boba cafe in a pretty quiet corner of Kearny Mesa. You can throw a dart at Convoy's Google Map and find a new boba spot. Twinkle isn't breaking new ground here. The decor is minimalist, but clean. Service was a bit slow but it's likely just the new staff getting used to things. I got a strawberry mango smoothie. Seemed to be made with fresher ingredients than most places, and tasted superb. Was expecting more mango flavor, but can't complain. Worth checking out if you want a quieter parking lot and a decent selection of quality drinks.

went to study at this new boba shop with a couple of friends while they had their bogo 50% off deal. it's a very hole-in-the-wall place, located right off the road in a quiet area. there's plenty of parking, however the spots are tight. there isn't many tables, but they do offer free wifi. the store itself is very clean and well decorated. i went on a weekday so it was pretty empty and there was no wait. i got the golden nova, which was one of their top drinks and i was pleasantly surprised! i personally like my drinks heavier on the tea side, which they executed very well. the fruit flavor was unique and went well with the tea. i had sips of my friends drinks as well and they were all really good! overall i'd recommend coming here and supporting them! i will be back again!

Located in the same plaza as the Godfather. They have a variety of unique drinks like Taro Cloud Milk Tea (which I ordered & loved) & Twinkle Delight (Thai Tea with coffee, caffeine on caffeine). They also serve lemonades, smoothies, & fruit teas. A nice spot to study or catch up with friends!

Went here to study with friend, there are lots of charging outlets. Couple of tables as well. It wasn't busy at all. We were also offered to sample their spring rolls and give our opinion, it was good! The drinks were also good there is a promotion going on for buy one get one 50% off! I personally tried the seasonal drink it was the carmeralized milk tea with grass jelly and it was really good you can taste the tea which i really like. I also got one of their top 5 drink called the cosmic dream, it like a lemonade drink, I usually don't go for fruit drinks so I think it was okay I personally think their milk teas and fruit tea drinks are better than their lemonade.

would give a 10 if I could!!! honestly best boba in Convoy and the greater SD area in my personal opinion. The service is great also! We're always met with a welcoming smile and friendly greeting when we walk through the door. Most times we come in and out quickly as they finish our drinks very speedily but I will be spending quality time with friends here as they have communal board games, fun music, and a bunch of chairs/tables.

Wow this place serves some of the best boba! They're perfectly chewy and not overly sweet. Fresh and warm when you order. Boba place needs some local love! Vietnamese owned and run!

Friend told me about this new boba place and so glad she did! One of the few boba places that truly has a dairy alternative (oat milk). Been to other places that say their powdered creamer is dairy free, but turns out it has caseinate in it (not dairy free). There are a couple of items that cannot be made completely dairy free (the ones with the custard and foam), but plenty of dairy free options. I ordered the strawberry matcha with oat milk (25% sweetness) and it was good for me. I say this bc the server mentioned that when people ask for the 25% they end up asking for more sweetness as the matcha is not pre-sweeten. Since I don't like overly sweet drinks this was good for me due to the strawberry syrup. Definitely plan to come back and try the smoothies.

What a hidden gem! Located in the same plaza as The Godfather Restaurant, you would be mistaken to overlook Twinkle Boba and Tea Lounge. Having experienced other Twinkle Brown Sugar locations in the greater Los Angeles area, I can confidently say that this location is up to par, if not better. The Mango Milk Tea has been my go-to order and is perfect at its sweetness level of 50%. If you're a fan of Sunright's mango milk tea and have been missing that taste, I would argue that Twinkle's rendition is even better. As an avid fan of oolong milk teas, I'm glad to have found Twinkle's ability to fill in that niche for my fruity boba cravings. Once I get over my excitement over their mango milk tea, I'll give their other teas a try:) As a study spot, the parking is plentiful in the day and the environment is very cozy. A friendly greeting from the owner brightened my day and the overall cleanliness of the place made my time working there very comfortable. Also, I challenge anyone to find a boba or coffee shop with better wifi speeds!

I ordered a green milk tea 50% sweet with extra ice. It wasn't watery at all. The green tea was delicious. It tasted like it was freshly brewed. Drink was ready on time and the person working there was friendly and helpful. Perfect choice for a hot day in San Diego. I will be ordering again.
