We love this place. It has a great selection of mead and cider and the atmosphere is enchanting, incredible actually. They have entertainment and trivia nights and you could spend hours there. They also have non-alcoholic on tap. The owner is a dog-lover and offers doggie treats with permission from the parents. We especially love coming when a certain guest artist is performing, and upon our third visit, we noticed a reserved sign on a table at which we usually like to sit. Little did we know that the table was reserved for us..🥹 You have to check this place out. You’ll truly feel welcome and loved.🥰

On my meadery tour, I was able to find this gem. Live music, mead and cider was such a win! I love the way their flights come with the numbers hanging by the glass that go along with the mead you choose, nice small touches that matter! A cool place to check out for sure.

I am a cider freak and these folks did not disappoint. The variations of ciders was great for SoCal. I had the Starbright Mead, Simon’s Journey Mead, Varangian Cider, and Estoc Cider. All very different so it made for an amazing flight! I will definitely make that 40 minute drive again! Thank you!

We had a great time on Thursday trivia night. First prize was a flight of mead and second prize was an empty growler bottle, neither of which we wanted, which worked out, since we came in third😂. We loved the "food truck" too! Our server was awesome - friendly and knowledgeable. Parking was easy and plentiful.

This place is so fun! We stumbled upon it just before we went to Norway, the awesome Nordic vibes really got us excited for our trip. The meads and ciders are very very good. Very dog friendly too! We love to spend the evening here and definitely recommend you spend some time here too!

Vince was amazing. He came out and talked to my husband about serving in the military. Adrian, the bartender, told us all about the meads, ciders, and even the artwork on the bottles. We bought several bottles and easily could have gotten more. We were recommended to try them and I can't agree more!

Rented out a private room and celebrated a birthday here! The staff are all so friendly and there were so many drink options here, lovely atmosphere. Would love to come again for more celebrations

Really great venue. The staff and fellow customers were very welcoming and nice. They have lots of board games near the bar as well. I've never had mead before, so it was a fun experience. Everything they have tends to be on the more mild/sweeter side. Nothing was bitter like beer. Of the ones I remember, these were my favorites: - Dwende (Cider): Strong ube flavor at the end which I loved! - Thrall of Tiamat (Cider): Very fruity. Lots of berry flavors. It almost tasted like a fruit wine. - Sun Blossoms (Mead): Slightly fruity and a little sweet. I will definitely come back to try some of their other events as well as more mead and cider!

I was in need for some Mead. Twisted Horn came to mind since I came across it on Eventbrite on different occasions. Honestly, it was kind of tricky locating it based on my GPS but I found it. There was no problems with parking which was great. As compared to the outside, inside was a very pleasant surprise. I loved the decor and Nordic/Viking vibes. The friendly guy behind the counter was really helpful in my decision to go with Musashi. I took a sip and thought to myself, "Ohhh Mead INDEED!". What a nice escape!! My honey-wine was a winner. To the Yelp Community at large, you're in for a swwweet treat. :-)

This place is a gem. Very clean and organized, a cool Nordic vibe and they have a ton of board and cards games to play with friends, and trivia night. Their flights have number tags by the glasses, and you order cider by number. The meads and ciders are really good quality, the flavors are complex and not overly sweet. The servers are very knowledgeable and helpful about all their beverages. Very cool place to just visit and relax and have a drink.

I have never tried mead before and was eager to visit. The beer tender was friendly and gave great recommendations. We got a flight with a mix of meads and ciders. All were really tasty! It was a trivia night which was fun. Tons of board games to play as well. Will definitely be coming back

Ciders so yummy...and it looks really cool inside. They have nice quality tables, live music, bar snacks, rotating local food vendors, and board games. All the drinks I tried were really good, and I'm someone who hates alcohol.

Such an odd vibe and experience. This establishment is located in a business park, which is unusual enough, but it gets stranger as you walk in and head to the back to find limited seating and unapproachable, unwelcoming staff. The individuals there seemed peculiar and lacked energy. Ignoring these factors, we decided to try their recommended selections and pick a game from the shelf. I was surprised to find that still mead wasn't available; instead, all their meads were carbonated like their ciders. Being accustomed to more traditional mead, I was disappointed that none of them had a noticeable honey flavor. It felt like they were primarily selling ciders, with a few having subtle mead-like notes. I wouldn't recommend this place. There are better options with greater variety in Temecula, and it's definitely worth the drive if you're coming from Oceanside like we were.

I love this place, my man and I started coming here over three years ago now and let's just say, it was love at first sip! Staff is amazing, and we've all gotten so close, especially with Vince. The man who makes the magic happen with his breath taking recipes. I didn't know mead could be this amazing. Now I know, and we are forever customers. This has truly become our second home. Oh, and we LOVE BLACK SAILS!!! SKÖL!!!

The ambiance is great. The light are knights armor helmets. Lots of board games to play. We had the best server. We left it up to her because we don't know how to order mead. We told her what we like and let her poor a flight. She did not disappoint! We had 2 fruity and a 2 of her choice. They were all great!

Very cool viking aesthetic! Service was alright, the guy just took our order and sent us off. The vibe is dope and this is a great spot if you just want to play some board games and drink with some friends in a place that makes you feel like your in a tavern from the ye olden days. As someone who loves to drink mead, the mead here was okay--personally I liked the ciders better. But overall nothing stood out to me. Overall would definitely recommend to check this place out for its viking vibe, but personally wouldn't be my go to spot.

Such a cute place to bring friends! I love that they have a great selection of fun games to play (a whole wall of them) and nice seating throughout the small place. I think they even have private rooms to host DnD type games for larger groups? Their mead is amazing and crisp~ my friends and I sampled a flight and each mead was very unique compared to the next. Very nicely priced too and staff were kind. They have growlers to take home too which is a great option. This was my first time ever trying mead and I'm so glad it was here! It was delicious. The ambiance was also a great. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to try something new.

We love this place! It has a wonderful cozy tavern feel to it with chandeliers, large bench tables, and plenty of free parking. We came here for the mead and cider which was great. I also opted for their homemade blackberry soda (not too sweet and very refreshing!), a wonderful option for anyone who prefers non-alcoholic drinks occasionally and great to have rather than the usual water and sodas that you often find. We typically stop by when they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The bands are a perfect fit for the space and music is kept at a reasonable volume so you can have a conversation and play board games. They also have several board games to choose from if you don't bring your own and there's a standing Dungeons & Dragons game night on Wednesdays. The service is good and we always get our food and drinks quickly. This is a great spot for board game lovers in North County and I'm glad we found it! Tip: Check out their website's calendar for the live music (Fri and Sat) and rotating lineup of food vendors who are here on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Truly a unique cidery/meadery. This place has a Norwegian feel to it with essence of Vikings. You feel like you stepped into another world when you enter this location. The walls are wood with wood beams. The lights consist of Viking helmets. A fireplace exist inside. And you can drink out of horns. On some days there is entertainment: like storytelling. As for the drinks: there's a good number of them to try. The ciders and meads tend to be on the sweeter side. I did find a pear cider that was dryer than most. If you like sweeter drinks, then this is your place! All preference if taste.

Came here for the mead and glad we stopped! Was helped at the bar and walked through some favorite meads and was given some suggestions! They also sell chips and dip and I'm pretty sure you can bring your own food to enjoy with your Mead and cider - their floral fruit forward flavors really shine! Thank you again

This place was really cool! The whole place is wonderfully decorated in Nordic style and the guys serving us were really knowledgeable on both commercial and homebrewing mead. The Blushing Maiden was my favorite

The reason to visit is because of the really cool viking theme. One side of the room is outdoor druid forest where the other parts feel like you're in a nordic mess hall. I almost tried all the flavors of mead now. This is one of the best mead and cider places in San Diego if not in the USA. It's outstanding. I don't need to talk about all the flavors because 99% of them I loved. My favorites so far are Witless, Wyzen Elder, Blue Cloak...but truly enjoy all the flavors. Growlers cost $17-$20 if you bring an old one in for exchange or $20-23 for new growler. One growler pours approx. five 8 oz cup/glasses. The drinks show in the bottles are their limited edition specialty brews. My first visits were during Covid times. You can now make a reservation to drink inside. If you walk in with a small party, they will accomodate you if possible as there is limited spread out seating. We tried a flight of 4 for $8.

We came here in between our scheduled events as a recommendation by one of our friends. They really like me, and I had never had it. So, I was looking forward to it! This place has such a fun, Viking theme. It was rustic and felt like I was in a movie! They also had a bunch of board games on the side you can play. They apparently used to let you drink out of a horn before covid, not sure if they allow it now. I ended up getting a flight to split with my friends. We got Freyja's obsession (Vanilla strawberry), Toby's tale (cherry), Solsteinn (guava) and Wyld Fest (lingonberry). I personally don't really like beer or hard ciders, so I came here with an open mind. We got a recommendation for all the flavors from the bartender. I personally really liked the lingonberry one - Wlyd Fest. It was sweet and had a unique taste to it. It wasn't bitter and did not have a funny aftertaste. The rest I did not like, personally. They were tolerable. I thought they were reasonably priced and liked the ambiance. Hopefully I can come back and try others that I may like instead!

Great to find a meadery around; don't see them often... Even if it is a bit of a drive away from the city. They had great selections of both mead and cider. About 8 each. End up having a flight of each. The meads were quite tasty, but on most of them the added flavours overpowered the honey.

Twisted Horn has been on my list a very long time. I first tried their stuff at the Viking Festival and really liked it! My friend and I decided to come here yesterday as she had never tried mead before. We decided to each get a flight so that we could try all of 1their different flavors of mead. My favorites were the Raz-R Edge, Shadow Legion and Toby's Tale. I tend to go for more tarte and fruity meads. The Raz-R had amazing raspberry flavors with a mint finished. This was the perfect combination in my opinion. Shadow Legion is made of lemon and Basil. Very refreshing! Toby's Tale has cherry flavors. I also tried one of their ideas, the Solsteinn which was amazing! I loved the hibiscus and guava flavors in this. Will I be back? Absolutely! Next time I will be focusing on their ciders given that I've now tried all of the mead option that were available. We were told that there is live music on Fridays and Saturdays. We will definitely be checking it out again soon!

Total fan of their cider!! They have fun flavors and it tastes good. How can you go wrong with cider tasting? The place is super Viking theme. You have the area where it feels like you're in that time pub. Lots of wood and grab a big glass and cheers! Then you have the "outside" area with a fake tree and some natural light from the sky. Did I try the mead? Yes I did. I'm not a fan of mead from California. Not that theirs wasn't good, just California bees mead making is different, taste different from the east coast. I still can't get my first mead tasting in Maine out of my mind, so comparing to that tasting. Also, even though I do not like mead, it does taste better than Golden Coast Mead! Grab a glass and take a journey to Asgard. lol.

Loved the place. The decor is terrific, the energy is great, and the staff was good. By the way, some customers dress up here, like Vikings and pirates and what-not. Seriously. You don't have to dress up but you'll see some folks who do. Role playing is not for me personally but it does add to the fun. The ciders were good and the mead was good. I was looking for a little more honey flavor in the meads but there was none to be found (at least as far as I could tell). But overall, no complaints. I think I tried about 6 different meads (taster sizes). There was only one I didn't like. As others have observed, their rising popularity means that they've outgrown their size. That's a good problem for any business but it means you might be wanting for a table. Fair warning. They bring in music and food trucks so check their schedule online and plan accordingly. Addressing the whining of some reviewers, yes, they are kid friendly. There offer about 50 board games (really) for anyone's use and I did see kids and even babies there. You may not like kids in a bar (of sorts) but it's legal and they are there so get over yourselves. Most people have no problem with it. The place is very fun. If they just got a tad more honey flavor out of that mead, I'd be over the moon for them.

I love this place. Great mead, great vibe, great people, etc. However, there's no food here. Whenever food trucks show up, it's always a blast. If you wanna drink mead for the true experience of how traditional mead is meant to be consumed, this is the place to go to.

The older lady serving the drinks is very rude. Would not let us taste 1 drink before buying .. and got the flight 2 out of four tasted like MEDICINE ... the other 2 was not that great lot of breweries and always they don't mind give a splash. With this kind of service I am surprised they are still in business . Would not return ever again and would NOT recommend it.

My friend and I stopped by here since we were in the area for another event earlier in the day. This meadery was at the end of a cul-de-sac in a business park like many craft breweries. The interior was really neat with an animal horn/Viking theme for the decor. There were a couple of picnic tables off to the side along with a corner shelf containing numerous board and card games. The place was dog friendly as you could bring your leashed pup inside as we did while seated at the bar. Not being much of a drinker, we ordered a couple of flights of 2 oz tasters. The first flight was four meads (Loki's Prank, Simon's Journey, Blue Cloak, Blushing Maiden) and the second flight was four ciders (Draco, Mischief Maker, Hidden Stones, Midnight Sun). I also got a Bent Branch root beer soda as a non-alcoholic buffer. My favorite mead was the Simon's Journey which was a mix of orange blossom honey, fresh strawberry and kiwi. My favorite cider was the Hidden Stones which was a full sweet cider with fresh peach flavor and spicy and ginger root. The $7 price for a flight was very reasonable. It was cool that they put a number tag in front of each taster so you could look back at the menu and identify the name and components of each drink you were tasting. Street Chef was the food truck outside in the parking lot on this Saturday, but there's a rotation of vendors which are kept track on a chalkboard behind the bar. I am glad that we decided to experience this hidden little gem in Vista after a long afternoon in the sun.

Their meads & ciders are dryer than I like (I have a major sweet tooth!), but were refreshing. Friendly bartenders, lots of space to mingle, they have tons of board games. Family & dog friendly!

Meaderies are like little beacons of hope in a flooded alcohol filled culture of modern day drinkers. What i mean by that is they are a breath of fresh air in a bar & beer brewery filled market. With that being said the twisted horn is SUPER dope. Ive only been there twice once on my birthday and once again yesterday. Their mead is in my opinion "Traditional" not too sweet not too dry. The mead its self is great BUT i am very bias with mead. Its easier to digest than other alcohols. The decor is very viking hall-esk they have horns you can buy. I have one from my birthday and its FRICKEN AWESOME. They have bored games and traditional viking table games & tables for about 6 to sit or intimate table for 2. They had live music there last night. Not what i would have expected at a viking esk meadery but live music is always good. They have food catering outside that rotates venders. Overall i like this place alot. It gets fairly busy on the weekends around 7-9ish. The bathrooms are a little invasive though. They are in the middle of the meadery so if someone takes a dump, a dooky, a big Ooole crappola. The whole place is gonna know.

This is a great place I keep finding myself going back to. The theme is full-on. I'm not into it, but I can appreciate doing a theme well in a classy way. I'm not a mead person, but I do love hard cider! They have a great variety of cider (and meads). Their menu has new choices, while keeping many they had before. So it's fun to come in and try some new choices, but still have most of the usual ones I know I love. My husband & I share two tastings. Because of that, and to not double up on ciders, we have a mead or 2 in there. As I said, we're not fans of mead, but it's nice to try just a tasting of a couple... and that has opened up my mind! (I like Freja's Obsession.) I like that the tasting glasses come in a tray with number labels so I can look at their numbered menu and be reminded of what I'm tasting. Music is nice. The servers are good people. You can buy kegs of some things! There are side rooms to hang out in. Restrooms are clean. There's a load of board games to play. What's not to like? This place is wonderful!

Even though I'm really a stout type of person, I really enjoyed my visit to Twisted Horn. It was about 90 minutes before closing on a Sunday night and perfectly quiet so a dear friend and I could catch up! Their mead and cider list is pretty extensive and the staff was super friendly. They have food trucks on Friday and Saturday night. My plan was to start with a flight and then get a pint of something. However, my lowest ABV of all my meads were 9%! Holy smokes...no pint for me! I'll definitely be back to try more. Welcome to Vista, Twisted Horn!

Go to place! They got live music, board games and a great place to play DnD. Their meads are on the dryer side and ciders aren't really sour which I love. You can really taste the mixture that they blend in to their drinks for the different spices and fruits. They got food trucks that come regularly and food you can snack on too. Honestly, hard to go wrong here.

One of my absolute favorite places and I count myself lucky that they're conveniently located in North County San Diego! Spectacular ciders and meads - 16 taps, usually all full and 1 nitro line now. Super fun themed decoration - the inside looks like a Viking hall, complete with wood walls and rustic tables (a few wood picnic tables and some higher tables with epoxy coated wood slab tops). Tons of games to play. They have a regular rotation of food trucks out front and often have live music inside as well. They also do a regular D&D game during the week and have some craft classes and other activities you can sign up for periodically. I've done a chain mail jewelry making class there in the past (it was great)! Unfortunately I missed the signup to make Christmas ornaments for last night, but it looked like the class had a great time and sold out quickly. There's always something fun happening here and I love it. Ended up there with a party of 8 last night and ordered TWO Flights of the Valkyries (2 oz. tasting pours of everything on tap, plus the nitro line) and a ridiculous amount of "Stacks of Meat" from Up in Smoke BBQ. It was a great night. You can't go wrong with their drinks, but I am a particular fan of Mischief Maker (their original/classic apple cider) and Blue Cloak (blueberry) mead. My Husband loves Embers (strawberry and serrano cider). TIP: In the winter they offer mulled cider made from Mischief Maker. It's fantastic. Don't miss out.

I'm a big fan of mead and I usually drink mead at Golden Coast Mead in Oceanside but I heard about Twisted Horn at Golden Coast. So I finally made it there and wow this place was very busy for a Sunday. I really didn't know what to expect but I didn't check them out before I came and everything seemed cool. So they have mead and cider plus they have flights of honey which I didn't get but wanted to. Anyway, the mead was great, the employees were good, the location was a little small but it worked out. The bar is a good size and they have several tables on the sides of the building which is good for small groups. I wish I lived closer because I would love to come here more often because the mead was good and I would like to try their cider plus the honey flights.

Cute little place we checked out on our way back from Anaheim. I love the theme of the place. The mead seemed pretty standard, nothing stood out to me personally. I do love that you can bring your own food in, and they have some board games to play inside. Overall, it's a cute little place.

Traveled here to explore Mead with family and the atmosphere is so cool and comfy, plus games to play. Mead and Cider tastings were great, so great we came back the very next night! New fave hangout for us as very welcoming staff and fun too!

One of my new favorite places. Came here on a whim with my wife, dad and sister. We all were very pleased with their meads. Have returned a few times for growler fills and will continue to do so. The big guy doing the pours is super friendly and helpful (Sorry I don't think I got your name, bro). He is patient if you've never been there before and answer any questions you have about any of the meads. If you don't know where to start or haven't had many meads, I recommend Simon's Journey and Hemispheres. Start with a flight and try many, you are bound to fall in love with one.

After a Google search of the area, we stopped at this place to try out their meads and ciders since we were looking for a sweet drink. The place was pretty lively with a food truck up front and a good amount of people inside enjoying drinks. It was a Viking themed location, with lots of Viking decor. Once you enter, you'll head straight towards the back, passing by the restrooms. The restroom signs were entertaining with it being labeled for Vikings and Valkyries. The staff were friendly and after checking our IDs, they stamped our hands. We ordered a flight of ciders and a flight of meads. They staff was helpful in suggesting which drinks to try out. They had WiFi available and even had social media hashtags to tag. Seating was decent with counter seating, a few table seatings, and even couches in front near the entrance. Overall, parking was good. Food truck was available for food purchases. And the staff was nice and friendly. The drinks were pretty decent as well. And if you're bored, they have board games available as well!

I love mead. I've been fascinated with it since the novel Beowulf. I'm so glad it's made a comeback and this mead hall delivers the goods.

This place is too cute! I love the Viking and natural theme here. The tables look like tree trunks and the lights inside hang like branches on trees. The cider and mead options are so interesting. They weren't all my favorite and I definitely liked the Blue Cloak (Blueberry), which I guess is featured at Disneyland's wine festival and the Vanir's. My least favorites were the one that sounded the best was the Zombie Lord and then the Tropic Plunder. We also didn't love the Friyja's strawberry. The hot mulled cider is delicious!! It takes a while to heat properly so make sure you let them know in advance. Enjoy!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS The decor is right up my alley with lots of earthy elements like moss, trees, wood, even squirrels in Yggdrasil (the world tree). My bartender (and one of the owners), Lisa, was playfully fun and super friendly too! Go say hi to her! THE MEADS Autumn's Plunder (Mead Reserve) -- "Cyser mead with brown sugar, roasted persimmon, Madagascar vanilla beans, cinnamon, and star anise." -- The first tasting note I get is brown sugar and vanilla, followed by a pleasant fruity essence and rounding out with the spiced aftertaste of the cinnamon and anise. Effing yum! Simon's Journey -- Kiwi Strawberry mead?! Sign me up! My friend brought this home in her growler and was actually my first introduction to Twisted Horn's products. It's as delicious as it sounds. Just give it a try and be pleased. Old Toby -- To be honest, it was the thistle honey that caught my eye on this one and it sure didn't disappoint. Off-dry is a clever way to say the drink isn't cloyingly sweet like some meads can be. Yum. Danegeld -- John corrected my 'Murican pronunciation of this one to "Dah-ne-geld" (instead of "Dane-geld). Linguistics aside, this is the quintessential mead. It's floral and sweet and just what I needed to round out my night. Maidenheim -- Now this one is as complex as the description warns. It is a "sweet session show mead with wild flower honey." The complexity comes in from the wild flower honey. I get so many different aromas and flavors coming through in a comfy and faithfully delicious honey medium. If you get a chance, give it a try. It's different and delicious. THE CIDERS Mischief Maker -- Their in-house unfiltered cider. Tasty and very drinkable, but not the highlight of my first flight. Hidden Stones -- I'm a sucker for ginger peach flavored just about anything. Toss those flavors into cider and I'm in heaven! Now if only they'd brew a nice batch of ginger peach mead. *wink*wink* Embers -- Strawberries are the loudest voice in this subtly spicy cider. The spice on the back end is pleasant and far from overpowering (even to those with limited spice tolerance). It's hard for me to taste this and not think of it as a dessert at some fancy high-fallutin' restaurant. THE VERDICT I am legitimately and thoroughly impressed with this wonderful place. I am also a wee bit ashamed it's taken so long for me to make it up here. It shan't be long before my next visit and will be telling (and bringing) all my friends with me. You should come too!!!
