Being a Black Chef in a White-Led Restaurant Industry Isn’t Easy—But I’m Not Giving Up | Bon Appétit
"By the time I opened my second restaurant in 2015, I was well-established. It’d been 13 years since I closed my first one, Edible Art Cafe, but in the meantime I’d accumulated decades of catering experience and a definitive style: soul food with a twist. I called my new restaurant Twisted Soul and built a menu out of the dishes I grew up eating, infused with the flavors of my travels and the skills I learned in culinary school." - ByDeborah VanTrece, as told to Hilary Cadigan
We have had several wonderful dining experiences. Lorraine is darling; her staff is professional and considerate. The customer service is stellar and the atmosphere is elegant, easy and inviting and that's before your food hits the table. We have had several dishes all being amazing and the presentation is gorgeous. I recommend this lovely establishment to anyone who is looking for good food and a great dining experience.

Outstanding food with first class service. We brought a large party and one of the owners (Lorrainne) came out to greet us and make recommendations. Fried chicken was excellent: tender and juicy throughout, just the right amount of crisp on the outside. Space and decor are really cool, too.

Twisted Soul was definitely one my best restaurant experiences in a long time. The drinks are also very good. The decor and vibe definitely enhances the experience. My fried chicken mac n cheese with collard rolls is soul food done right. Also the barbecue chicken springs rolls started the meal off right.

Outstanding food and even better cocktails. Fried chicken and NOLA shrimp were both great.

Very friendly staff. I only had a couple of beers with some appetizers, but they were delicious.
