My husband and I are so happy we found this little jewel! Secluded from the busy town bustle, this small bar and grill really impressed us. From the minute we drove up, we were charmed by the cowboy decor. We came around 4, so it wasn’t too busy. The waiter was wonderful. He was attentive, concise, and polite. We had fried mushrooms for the appetizer. Best we have ever had! And the boom sauce was amazing. I had the shrimp plate, hubby had surf and turf. The shrimp are so big, it took four bites each! And so delicious. Hubs steak was incredible, juicy and tender! We will absolutely be going back many times!

Went there tonight traveling through Iowa. Food was great. Atmosphere was hopping. Obviously very good restaurant. We sat at bar because we were in a hurry and long wait. The waitress at the bar was very attentive. I had a ribeye sandwich and my wife had the patty melt. Both were very tasty.

First time here and we will be back! We had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and half rack of ribs. The game changer is their house made BBQ sauce. Smoky, sweet, delicious! We will be back for their prime rib night and great prices!

This is my fifth trip to the Twisted Tail and the food was great! I try to have something different each time. The wait staff are always super nice. It's worth stopping in, even if your driving by on the interstate!

We are always on the lookout for great diners off the beaten path. We finally made it to Twisted Tail on Saturday night. We've heard great reviews and now we understand why. Everything was terrific. Before dinner, we had carmel apple mules and an order of fried mushrooms. Mushrooms were done perfectly and the scratch made boom boom sauce had nice subtle kick. For dinner, hubs had the smoked prime rib and was blown away! Great smoke flavor! Not too much seasoning. I had the smoked ribs with house made BBQ sauce and mac/cheese. Both did not disappoint. Rib meat fell off the bones. Oh, and that sauce!  Sweet, smoky and delicious! Attentive service, great owners, the quality and price make it a terrific destination. Can't wait to come back! Highly recommend this place!

I am a long time repeat customer of this restaurant and it never disappoints! The food is fantastic and the restaurant has a great small town feel that is welcoming to all, yet feels clean and modern inside. Highly recommend making the drive out to visit!

Great little saloon in Beebeetown, IA. Official address is in Logan. Closest bigger town is Missouri Valley a bit west, and is North if Council Bluffs maybe 1/2hr or so. It may be in the middle of no where, but it is quite nice inside, has a great menu, and from what we had, and what we’ve heard from others, the food is good. Our experience was great staff as well. Not much more you could ask for. It’s a popular stop for motorcycles, because you have have a nice trip through the scenic Loess (pronounced “Luss”) Hills, and stop for your lunch or dinner. But, make no mistake, this little place in the middle or nowhere will have good service, great food, and the atmosphere and ambiance are also good. It feels more like a trendy chain bar and grill, but with a small home town feel. Just didn’t have anything to complain about at all. We’ll be back sometime when we are in the area, and you should give it a try. Even if you don’t live close (we don’t either), it’s a nice scenic drive to get there on a casual Saturday or Sunday drive. We recommend you try it.

Yelp
The food here is fresh and well prepared. Service is friendly and efficient. Ambiance is country casual. The Twisted tail serves comfort food and does it well. Menu is on line so I won't repeat it here but the tail has daily specials worth checking out. Nice ribs on Friday, smoked Prime rib on Saturday and Chicken fried chicken on Wednesdays to name a few. Good full service bar. Nice road trip from Omaha. Recommended.

Yelp
First time here and we will be back! We had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and half rack of ribs. Ribs were tasty, lean, and generous! The game changer is their house made BBQ sauce. Smoky, sweet, delicious! We will be back for their prime rib night and great prices!

Yelp
This phenomenally popular restaurant is situated a few miles north of I-880 at exit 21. Parking is very much catch as catch can, and on Friday night I was glad I got there early. This is rib night, starting at 5 PM. The place was already more than half full at 5:10, and there was a line waiting for seating at 6. Service was prompt, and $25.15 plus tip (excellent service) purchased a half rack of very meaty ribs (7 bones) with a side of seasoned fries, a second side of onion rings, and a refillable soda (Coke products). The ribs were well prepared, and served wet. The sauce was neutral, leaning neither to the sweet nor the spicy, but instead sealing the moisture into high quality meat. Both sides were solid, but the onion rings were a real treat. It is definitely worth getting off the interstate to give this one a try.

Brooke L.

Yelp
5 stars all around! The facility was nice and clean, our waitress came around often, and the food was great! We started with some onion rings and those were great. Then I got the b town burger, husband got the AM burger. With mine I got sweet potato fries and that came with some marshmallow sauce!!!!! Wow. So tasty! Husband got regular fries and those were good too! We will definitely be back.

Ron D.

Yelp
Service was good Food tasted good. We accidentally ordered the same meal as the last time we were there. The Ribeye sandwich comes with lots of gravy but not as much meat. It tasted ok, but neither of us really wanted all the extra gravy and bread. We do enjoy going there, although, for us, it is well off the paths we usually take. The ambience is fun, more like a real old fashioned restaurant/saloon. The building is itself old. I would recommend trying it out. Be aware it is 'extra' casual so don't be offended by the wait staff and presentation. Enjoy yourself

Scott G.

Yelp
Food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. After a day of driving through the Loess Hills Scenic Byway, we decided to stop here for an evening meal on a Saturday evening and were very happy with every point of our evening!! We will be back, with reservations, for prime rib some weekend. Those plates looked mouth watering!! Worth the trip if you are not from the area!!! Well done folks!!!

Yelp
We're looking for a steakhouse between Sioux City and Des Moines and stumbled across this place on Google maps and yelp. That we would check it out super cool layout, local staff very helpful, accommodating, friendly locals at the bar and great steaks. My wife had fillet which was an excellent cut of meat and cooked perfectly and the New York strip, which wasn't the best one I've ever had, but it certainly was at the top third and was very good Cooked well. Salads were nice. Sweet potato was very good.

Kurt S.

Yelp
I wanted to take a ride on one of my bikes and Beebeetown is always a good destination from Council Bluffs. It's a really nice ride. A couple days ago, I decided to take the short ride to Beebeetown. After the scenic ride, I stopped and grabbed a beer. I got the Berries and Barbs and it was cold and had a good head on it. The bar tender was really nice and busy setting up the bar for the day, which is good to see as that stuff is phoned in all the time and other bars. I'll come out again and try the food, in which I'll update my review.

Leah R.

Yelp
We've been many times over the years. The food and service are consistently great. Everything we've tried has been excellent: the tenderloin sandwich, bbq chicken sandwich, french dip, philly and the burgers. I love the sweet potato fries with marshmallow dipping sauce. They also have great ribs on Friday nights, but get there early because they sell out fast! It's also one of the few places I find Wilson's Cider. It's a nice little drive from Council Bluffs, especially if you're cruising out on the bike or classic. We tend to take a "back way" and enjoy the scenic drive. The food is worth the drive and it makes for a fun time.

Guy W P.

Yelp
Great time with family for a great meal. Has the pork tenderloin sandwich that was way too big to finish. Great service and friendly staff.

Ward M.

Yelp
Hot beef sandwich was the special of the day, it definitely did not disappoint! Also got fried pickles to share, these were good also My parents wanted to take me there as they had tried the chicken strips on a prior visit. They were wowed and couldn't wait to return The old pictures were fun to look at.

Jay W.

Yelp
Ribeye steak was outstanding, best I have ever had. Also recommend the French dip. Cold beers and great drinks.

C H.

Yelp
Was there last evening with a large group and on my....So good!! The ribeye steaks they serve are enough to make meals for a week they are just huge -- and yummy too! There are over 60 types of whiskies in their bar and tons and tons of delicious drinks! LOVED the fried mushrooms, onion rings, wings, cheese fries and the nachos - they are just delicious. The family who owns and operates it are truly wonderful folks who love to serve people and the community at large. They truly are believers in "paying it forward" wherever an whenever they can. If you are looking for generousity in all forms....this is the place!

Yelp
Bikers, bar, burgers and more. I'll tell you now, the highlight was the sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce! A busy Sunday afternoon we took an adventure out to this place in the middle of nowhere. Motorcycles lined the front parking lot. Crazy busy but got seated right away. An attention grabbing burger brought us out here. One of the best in Iowa said the Des Moines register. I was excited to try. Hubby picked the B-town burger with fries which was featured in the paper. I picked the buffalo chicken philly with cottage cheese. The waitress had already walked away before we found the raves about the sweet potatoe fries. Our waitress was working the bar so she hurriedly took our order and actually had another waiter come back and check on us. Food took awhile because of the crowds of people. The decorations was lots of cowboy theme, ranch hand paintings and John deer things. Very family friendly. Could see a party room off the back. Also saw signs for dueling pianos so they have some good times here. We got the sweet potatoes fries first. Hot and yummy we went to work on those. Just short of me licking the sauce out of the little cup, very good! Sprinkled with powdered sugar. Our meals followed shortly. Hubby let me bite into the b-town burger. The Angus meat, jalapeno, cheese, onion ring, and toppings were good. I have to admit I had it built up in my head way more. Not sure what it was missing. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but lacking in something. However, the buffalo chicken philly. Served on a big hoagie bun with pickle spear. I actually ate it without the bun. The jalapeno spice was a perfect kick. All the buffalo sauce and peppers was perfect. I ate as much as I could. I shared it with the hubby and he really liked it more than his burger. Overall, if you have the time to take a drive or motorcycle ride it's a perfect scenic drive for a fun atmosphere and good food. There is a stage out back so I bet they have done live music to.

Michael B.

Yelp
Great place. Great food. You won't regret going to place in the middle of nowhere. Had the ribeye was excellent, son had a burger and boneless wings. All was great. We'll be back.

Susan J.

Yelp
Please update Yelp! This place is closed on Monday and Tuesday. It's in the middle of nowhere!

Ron G.

Yelp
Came with a reputation of a good burger and it did not disappoint! Totally worth the trip up from Council Bluffs!

Shawn L.

Yelp
Asked to move in mid-bite. Lol! I can't believe it. The owner said that we need to move to accommodate a large table. This is after we waited our turn for an hour. He told us we could get our food to go. We were floored. A first for everything I guess. Food was ok. Can't believe his rude request. This place has been taken off our list. I get trying to make money, but when we are waiting like everybody else, others need to wait their turn too.

Justin T.

Yelp
Worth the drive from Omaha. We were driving back from Carroll and stopped in. Sunny day with plenty of bikes out front and convertibles like us. I was fairly surprised with the beer selection. A lot of the "biker bars" I've been to stop at Bud heavy. They had a little bit of everything and both of us found things we liked. *Don't be worried about the "biker bar" image. Its a great place to ride to on a sunny day and the food is great. The bikers you'll see here aren't the ultra hard core and frequently scary type. Pretty sure I saw one high five a kid as they walked out. The food was well done and came out fairly quick. Our server checked in on us regularly and made sure we were well looked after. Next time want to get out with the top down...we'll be back!

Lisa O.

Yelp
Wish I could review the food here but we left hungry. Sadly after being seated immediately our party of 4 became invisible . We sat in the freezing cold main dining area for 35min while all other tables around us were waited on. The hostess made eyes contact briefly but failed to acknowledge us in any way. The attitude here is plain rude.

M R.

Yelp
We thought it would be nice to take a drive to support small town local business so we made a reservation on Open Table, party of 4. They didn't have our reservation. When seated we were told there would be a longer than normal wait due to staffing, we understood, that happens. We sat at our table in the main area for over 30 minutes & watched as 3 tables, who came after us, be waited on, served drinks & sides. We sat with no water or acknowledgement, wondering & confused about being ignored. Maybe because we weren't "local" ourselves? We left and will not drive an hour to give Twisted Tail another chance.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Extremely good dinner. And craft drinks. Lovely drive out here. We have been maybe 7 times and each time has been excellent. Excellent burgers and prime rib.

Colette M.

Yelp
Wow! We had an awesome experience & the food was 10/10. Worth the drive- such pretty scenery.

Dennis P.

Yelp
First time here with a friend, rode our bikes up from the Harley dealership in pacific junction. Was a little windy but other than that , once inside the wait was a little more than expected. The wait staff was friendly and helpful though. Wasn't expecting the time it took from order to actually getting our food. Food was good, maybe next experience will be better. And I'm a military veteran.

Jeff B.

Yelp
I'm getting so I don't know what to think of this place. My wife and I stumbled across it a year and a half ago on a Sunday and fell in love with it. Came back a couple more times and those visits were also great. But now, with the last two visits, we're down to giving it just one more chance. My wife loves prime rib, so our last two visits have been on Saturdays for the special; I'm not a PR fan, so I get the sirloin dinner and I think that's where they fail. Don't get me wrong, the steak is great but only when it's on time and warm. In both of the last two visits we've had waitresses who have taken the order and then promptly forgotten us. After waiting a half hour to get our dinner or even to get our water refilled, it either takes another waitress noticing us sitting their bored and angry or else my chasing down the waitress to ask what's going on. In our visit a month and a half ago, Ruth (I think she's the owner) gave me a certificate for a free steak dinner after it arrived barely warm and she advised us to make reservations. We did that this time and we STILL saw people seated 20 minutes after we were who got their dinners first. After seeing our waitress take an order at the next table and then run off to enter it, I had to chase her down and tell her we'd been waiting 40 minutes. She said she'd check on it and sure enough, we got our dinners in two minutes. The surface of my steak was hot, but the interior was barely warm - it was pretty obvious it had been sitting awhile and was thrown on the grill just enough to get a sizzle. Our reservations were at 6:30 and it was busy. We've decided if we do Saturday again we'll go at 5 just to avoid the crowd and the overworked wait staff - the food is that good. But if I get a barely warm steak once more, that's the last time this Omaha couple makes the drive to Beebeetown.

Dennis M.

Yelp
My favorite is the Friday night ribs. They are done to perfection. I just tried the cheesecake and it is really a treat.

Jason A.

Yelp
Ribs were great. Staff was friendly. Ordered online. Picked up at set time with no problems. Location is scenic and we enjoyed the drive out. We would definitely recommend and will be back.

James G.

Yelp
Thank you for taking care of our large group! Your place is very inviting and fun. I was looking forward to an "Omaha Steak" and I ordered the filet. I was a little surprised by the price, $33 is big city prices! The steak was served cold and clammy. I was told it was cooked on a wood grill, but it must have sat a long time before it got to me. I would also say that you need a couple decent red wine choices to go with that steak. The Cab I had was terrible.

Cody M.

Yelp
This place has been impressive from the stop sign outside I said WOW, this looks fun. It was, I tried the famous sweet potato fries, buffalo chicken Philly and the b top burger. I was very much in love with the sweet potato fries and the chicken Philly. I also tried a long route peanut butter porter that was very unique and fit into my mood for the day. I recommend each of these things as I had a good visit

Nolan F.

Yelp
I have never been treated worse in a restaurant in my life! Showed up with a couple friends and met 3 more people there had lunch and a beer and then had our yearly fantasy football party! There was 2 other tables in the whole bar and there were other customers we knew so we were doing typical bar things and talking carrying on and having a good time bc that's what you do at a bar and grill... well a older lady showed up for her shift and was there maybe 15 minutes and wasn't our server or had anything to do with our table and she proceeded to walk by our table and make a very nasty and unprofessional comment under her breath while walking past our table! If we were to loud and were out of line I feel like it would have been appropriate for our server to just come ask us to keep it down a little and would have been no big deal but instead they treated their customers like trash and told us basically to leave and we had been drinking and spending money in their for 2 hours! If you want a customer service experience you will greatly regret this is the place!

Thomas S.

Yelp
Very clean and comfortable, the food was awesome. There were seven in our party it was about a 20 minute wait to be seated but we'll worth the drive and wait. The staff were very friendly and helpful. For those of us that ordered steaks the were perfect. Burgers were excellent also. We had onion rings and mushrooms for appetizers. Best mushrooms I have ever had, they are a must try. I might be a few miles off the interstate but we'll worth it. I will definitely be going back.

C J.

Yelp
Drove out to try as we have heard some good things and that it's one of the best burgers in Iowa. We got there at about 545 on a Friday night, and by 6, the place was packed. Not a lot of waiting room in the front for how busy they get, but it seems to move quickly. Parking is ok. Better than most places. Our waitress was prompt, and our meal didn't take too long. Service was good. My 3 stars is for the food. I ordered the 12 ounce top sirloin and baked potato. When I got the steak had a great flavor, however it was done and I ordered medium well. It was dry and not worth the $17 I paid for it. It was also way too much and took half home. It would be nice to have a normal 4-6 ounce choice. Not all of us in the Midwest like to stuff ourselves. Finally, the dinner roll that was served to me was moldy. We will probably come back on another Friday to try the Friday night ribs, and see if it's better. Overall if you're willing to drive 45 minutes from Omaha, it's a nice get away, however I hate to say this but Charleston's has a better steak.

Eric J.

Yelp
This is a surprising stop on a rural crossroads northeast of the I-680/I-29 in Beebeetown, IA. This is no secret to locals. Twisted Tail has a good history in the area and comes highly recommended by area residents. Great bar options including local microbrews. Definately a burger and beer stop. Lots of different burgers on menu and specials. I had the special which was a sweet guacamole burger and crispy fries. If you're out in this area, it's as good as it gets.

Bruce M.

Yelp
We stopped in after seeing the ratings on Yelp and calling ahead to check for seating. There was a little wait for the food but it was well worth it. Meals were Philly Cheesesteak beef, chicken tenders, tenderloin sandwich (fresh never frozen) and salad with grilled chicken- sides of choice were fries crispy. ALL of them were awesome, considering the variety there wasn't a bad bite amongst us and the crispy fries were super, Yelp reviews were correct! A MUST stop and less than 2 miles off expressway located at a 4 way stop! Enjoy

Mary D.

Yelp
We went and sat 15 minutes to place order and hour for it To be ready to only be told that the sweet potato we ordered was out no one refilled drinks in addition to they still charged us each the extra dollar for the sweet potato which we never got and never offered desert or anything in exchange. Way better places closer to home we drove 40 minutes to get there Place was clean very loud but most likely ill prepared for the traffic and food express expectations. Meal was not hot when it arrived most likely had been up for a while.

Jen L.

Yelp
Spent over $100 on a to go order. Went to pick it up early to have a drink. When we told the girl behind the bar, she told us to hold on, then she still had us sitting there waiting on the food before she even served us drinks. All the while helping other customers. She didn't serve us our drinks until she had everything bagged up and ready to go. Very disappointed in her attitude and service. Here is a pic of all our to go food getting cold while we finally enjoy our drinks..

Matt M.

Yelp
We arrived here late on a weeknight. They had a decent crowd and the place looks nice inside. We ordered fried pickles and onion rings to start. Both were fine - typical fried fare. Next up entrees which included a ribeye, a new york strip and two burgers. My gf wanted a filet but we were told they were out of filets. Seems odd for a steak place to be out of steak. The ribeye was great - cooked perfect and very juicy. The baked potato had cooked way to long. It was basically mush. The new york was a hit and the burgers received the comment "just ok". Service was horrible. We had to wait for everything way to long for a half full restaurant. If you are hungry for a fairly priced steak this is a decent option. Unless they are out of meat that day.

Dustin H.

Yelp
I was very surprised with the food. The New York strip was outstanding. Seasoned so well that you don't even need any sauce. Also was cooked to perfection. The waitress Haley was super friendly and did a amazing job.

Laurel R.

Yelp
Loud and rowdy fun motorcycle spot but good food and good beer selection. If you're looking for a remotely quiet spot, this is not it, but fun and delicious. We stop here after visiting some Iowa vineyards/wineries. I usually order a steak or the prime rib on Saturdays. Fun spot

Todd S.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Tons of cars in the parking lot. On our way thru town headed to Sturgis. After almost 700 miles ,just looking for a good meal. 2.5 hours later - the food arrived. Have no idea what took so long. The steaks were good but the hamburger that took a stated 25 minutes - so be prepared - was well done and cold. Clara was our server and she did her best with the kitchen situation. Very polite and apologetic. I have to fault the management team for this one. Oh yeah. Never go on Trivia night!

Rinda B.

Yelp
Food is always delicious!!! We have eaten in many times taken lots of friends and family with us no complaints food and service is wonderful. We have also have meals to go this has been just as great as dining in. My favorite night to go is Friday's for ribs hands down the best ribs and sauce around. This is worth the drive only 30 minutes from Omaha or Council Bluffs!!!

Joni T.

Yelp
Excellent! Worth the drive! Loved the atmosphere and the service/staff were great! The loaded ribeye sandwich and the fried ice cream was excellent! My friend had the prime rib, said was the best he's had in a long time!!

Cat F.

Yelp
This place is a rare Gem, Everything is GREAT here. The service is always friendly and fast too. Everything that me or my friends have gotten there to eat has been amazing. The pizza they have there is big, tasty and full of fresh toppings. The weekend evenings is when they really shine, the Twisted Tail gets rockin, you can expect a short wait but it is worth it. Grab a drink and enjoy the patio out front. Friday nights are Rib night, I highly recommend Luke's Ribs, they are fall off the bone deliciousness and most people around here know it. Saturday nights are for the Smoked Prime Rib, it is smoked on sight. I would crawl a mile through broken glass for a slice of this meat, I would go over the moon for this meat. There isn't anything that I wouldn't do for this. Again, everyone knows it too. There will be a wait, ya might wanna make some reservations or just enjoy the time out in the best place to eat for a long ways. The guy behind the bar is fun and knows how to whip up some spirits, he can make anything from a Martini to your favorite classic like an Old Fashion or Sazerac. Mark never disappoints. Ed and Ruth are there to make sure everything is to your liking and to pitch in wherever. Hanna and her crew work super hard getting everyone seated and served in a great atmosphere. We eat here a lot and always will.

Julie S.

Yelp
Great destination for a Sunday afternoon ride. Great food and friendly service. I had the Steak Philly and it was so tender and the fries were good. The Buffalo Chicken Philly was hot and spicy sooo delicious. The sweet potato fries that come with it are dusted with powdered sugar and serve with a marshmallow dipping sauce. You would think you died and went to heaven. Finally the fried ice cream to top off an already great meal.

Jenny W.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! Traveling west from WI and found you guys on Yelp. A little out of the way, but worth it, Omaha. Steak was so good. Fixin's were delumptious. Moscow Mules so tasty! Enjoyed immensely!

Kyle C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, and the battered portabella strips are to die for. Don't pass on the ribs, dry-rubbed, moist and the right amount of smoke!

Mindi F.

Yelp
I fly halfway across the nation and when I arrive in Omaha my Mom drives me to this one tractor town to eat at a biker bar. It was so worth it! The food was delicious! I had the loaded ribeye sandwich topped with blue cheese, mushrooms, an onions served with sweet potato fries that were sprinkled with powder sugar and marshmallow fluff. Leave it to the Iowans to make a healthy dish into a guilty pleasure.

Tom R.

Yelp
Always very good food and service. Nice to see them back open for indoor seating as well

Kathy S.

Yelp
This place is in the middle of nowhere which makes it even better! The sweet potato fries come with a marshmallow sauce and will leave u going back again and again! Always friendly staff and even when they're super busy they are attentive! I've never had a bad meal here!!
