Twistee Treat

This was our first time eating here as we always drive by and never stopped so we decided to stop by today for lunch. Sunday’s are the day for chicken strip basket as they are $7.00 for the basket with fries and 1 sauce. The food was fresh and the ice cream was delicious. Prices are super fair! Customer service was great and 2 hardworking ladies behind the counter.

Always had best experience here but not yesterday. Luckily its not a kid who ate the smores ice cream we bought or else it could be more of a health hazard concern. So the young lady yesterday said she had to put second styro quart cup because the first one damaged, so I said that is fine because we had same situation before and everything was okay, but yesterday the cup damage is worst that some of the styro plastic already mixed to the ice cream and not sure if I was able to ingest some of it. Still, it taste great but i hope in the future if first layer cup is damaged its better to change the whole cup for safety purposes.

I typically come for the ice cream, because I believe they have the best ice cream in the area, but today I decided to try their food and it’s wonderful! The fries and burgers do not feel heavy, and they’re very satisfying! I’ll have to add photos the next time I stop in.

Great little ice cream place. I don't know about their food because I've never had a meal there but their ice cream is wonderful. Service with a smile in a setting that reminds me of trips to get ice cream when I was a kid! Outdoor seating available but I always take it to go

Stood and watched the older woman (Michelle) that works here touch all the food with no gloves. The pizza, hot dogs going into the microwave, the cheese sticks, using her hands to open the bags, you name it. Some people might say the fryer will get rid of whatever, but it's still a huge health code violation. Especially with so many illnesses going around right now. There are gloves to wear as they were visible near the microwave. I'm glad I got ice cream, but won't be eating anything else. I don't normally leave reviews, but this was hard to witness.

Love, love, love this place!! It's my and my husband's special place to take our granddaughter when we come to town to visit!

Food is always cooked to order so it tastes fresh and hot when you receive it! Good service and everything tasted great. Could use a little updating on the outside with more seating around the building.

Review Visit: May 5th, 2013 The iconic ice cream cone-shaped building in the heart of East Peoria, IL. If you are a resident, you have probably driven by this place many times. Some of you may have even stopped in for a bite to eat. I have stopped by many times myself since I live close to it. Each time, the ice cream never disappoints. I have gotten the food a few times and while it is cheap, it's also only 'okay'. Not that the food is terrible in any way, it's just that could use a little lovin' while being cooked. My special item I get here isn't even on the menu. It is a strawberry ice cream with chunks of waffle cone in it... while served in a waffle cone. It is divine!

Not impressed with my experience here. Walked up and stood for a couple min while the lady talked to someone at the window who had already been served. She walked away so I walked to the window and she closed the window and held up a finger at me and walked away. The other person didn't pay us any mind. Waited another 4 min before walking away and heading to another nearby ice cream place.

10/10 Service was incredible! Very quick and easy they take both cash AND CARD! I got a banana Oreo chocolate base milk shake! It was delicious :) soooo much cheaper than Dairy Queen across the street and much better quality! Lots of outdoor and parking! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap treat!

Since taking over, I've done takeout pizza three times and different pizzas. The new ownership has really turned this place around. Do yourself a favor and give this place another chance.

I have eaten here for a long time they have the best ice cream in my opinion and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a good dessert

This is a fully amazing place! It has amazing ice cream AND food. Every time I've been there they get it to me fast and it's beautiful and always delicious. They don't mess is up and it's beautiful.

Sometimes you need something sweet and today was my day. I got s small chocolate malt and my guest got a large twist ice cream cone. Both were great we will be back!

Very large menu of food items for an "ice cream shop". The food and ice cream are tasty, and the service is friendly. And you can't beat a business shaped like a big ice cream cone!!

I wanted to give it more stars but we stopped in today for a slushee and a fruity pebble blitz. The slushee had no ice so it was a glorified Kool-aid and my blitz needed a ton more fruity pebbles. I watched the ladies struggle with the slushee. The ice cream was great tho.

My family has been going to Twistee Treat since I was a little kid. It is a staple of East Peoria! This place was even my first job, the now old owner is a wonderful man and the new owner is a amazing human being. She has put in so much hard work, dedication, and love into Twistee Treat and did a great job over the winter renovating the inside. Excited that it's open for the season and hope it's a wonderful season. Everyone needs to stop in and see all the great work she has done and enjoy a great treat by the wonderful staff!

We stopped in for lunch on the way home to Indiana from Utah after a wild goose chase for a Wendy's in East Peoria that ended up being gyros. This place is like a remnant of a bygone era when there were actually non-chain fast food joints. The food here was average, just fast food. They have stuff like hamburgers, corn dogs, hot dogs, pizza burgers, etc. I assumed the ice cream was the good part and it was. If anything they used TOO MUCH caramel in my caramel shake. It was good.

When a customer tells you that the peanuts taste old and rubbery, you don't get the bag out, show them the date and tell them they are wrong. Customer service is certainly lacking - at least it was the day we visited.

I have been here more times than I can count since I was very little. The menu has expanded greatly over the years. The prices are bit on the high side, considering what you're getting (which is why I knocked off a star), but it's a local favorite with a lot of nostalgia attached to it.
