The Best Eastern European Restaurants in Portland and its Suburbs | Eater Portland

"Cevapi — Sarajevo-style ground beef rolls grilled and served with spongy house-made pita, ajvar, and sour cream — is the highlight of this Belmont Balkan restaurant’s menu, but it’s not the only star coming out of the kitchen. Eastern European comfort food is represented by dishes like goulash, Hungarian braised beef served with mashed potatoes or rice, and vegetarian pasulj, a Balkan bean stew which inspired the idiom “simple as pasulj,” a Serbian idiom akin to “easy as pie.” Any main dish should be enjoyed with a small glass of rakia, a fermented fruit brandy available in flavors like plum, quince, and Williams pear." - Janey Wong

Amazing food, great service. I'm so glad we found this hidden gem. The meats were all deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked. The salad was fresh. The pita bread was the best we've ever had, so fluffy and rich. I loved the hummus and the Turkish coffee. We also enjoyed the foreign beer. Highly recommend you visit this restaurant and try all of the things.

Came highly recommended by friends, and we decided to try it out after a busy day and exercising! We had the pork mixed grill to go and an extra large fries for our family of four. There was plenty of food and extra. Great flavors and well cooked food. Space is small, and parking is limited. We will be back for more takeout for sure or just the adults.

Very good Balkan food, granted we only had 2 dishes and 2 sides. But the potential was there. The service and attentiveness is 100% there. I could nit pick a few things, but that's me, and we don't have enough restaurants of this kind/cuisine already and this is about as good as it gets in the PNW. So, go and support this authentic family business.

We have eaten here a few times and love it! Last time was about a month ago and there was a "for sale" sign in the window. Really hoping that the place stays in business. The food is Balkan and excellent quality. Service is great and the price can't be beat! The chevapi (similar to kofta) are nicely seasoned and not dry. The combo, which includes chevapi and sausages, is a great deal. The Serbian bread is wonderful. And, of course, everything is better with a beer. Next time, I will definitely have Rakia, however. There's a small parking area next to restaurant. Super convenient.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a colleague from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The chevapi was delicious! I also really enjoyed the bread and ajvar. The person hosting/serving was very friendly and helpful. Will absolutely be back!

Great food - especially the chevapi, good beer, and the rakia and Turkish coffee after dinner were perfect.

I was starving my Greek food and got it here. The food was authentic and really good. For the little tzatziki I had to pay extra. Tzatziki belongs for me always to my Greek food! :) The parking is a bit small but a nice guy helped me there to park. I would come again!

Clean place with great service. But expecting to have flavor punching Mediterranean food and it was pretty bland. Was very juicy tho. Their salad was the best for me.
