Where to Eat and Drink in Sebastopol

"Two Dog Night Creamery tempts customers in the summer with its seasonal flavors, such as the signature Blackberry Pie (vanilla ice cream with sweet organic blackberries). But the shop’s regulars also dally with the Caramelized Apple Pie flavor, which is studded with warm spices, and have a steady thing with the Bananas Foster. They’ve also got vegan peanut butter ice cream, and you can get a couple of free toppings on your cone." - Paolo Bicchieri, Maria C. Hunt

If you're looking for a charming, feel-good spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, this family-owned ice cream shop is a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the kind of personal service you just can't get at big chains. The ice cream itself is top-notch—creamy, rich, and clearly made with care. They offer a great variety of classic and creative flavors, many of which rotate regularly, so there's always something new to try. Standouts for me were the homemade waffle cones and their seasonal specials. What really makes this place special is the love and attention behind everything they do. You can tell the family takes pride in their work, from the quality ingredients to the friendly conversations at the counter. It's the kind of place where kids light up, and adults find a little nostalgic joy. Highly recommended for a treat that feels both indulgent and heartfelt.

Google
Ice cream is decent. No sample spoons is diabolical at an ice cream joint. Also they have one size cone, a giant waffle cone for my child’s one scoop that fell into the depths of this giant cone that she had to eat away to get to the ice cream. If I want ice cream from Sebastopol I’m going to Screaming Mimi’s from now on.

We saw the Peppermint Brownie Ice Cream Taco in Sonoma Magazine, and were excited about going to get one. What a disappointment when we tried this "treat." DON'T get one of these ice cream tacos from Two Dog Night. I bought one yesterday for $8 and it was half-melted when they handed it to me. It was wrapped in stiff plastic, so it was difficult to know if it was solid or liquid, but when I sat down to open it, I realized that the ice cream had almost completely melted and the cone was soggy. I had asked about whether it should have some liquid in it and assumed that it was soft because it was some sort of mint topping. The girls behind the counter didn't answer me one way or another and they appeared to be distracted by something other than their customers. I can't believe they sold it to me like that. They looked in a couple of freezer/refrigerators down near the floor before they found one for me. I had expected it to be freshly made, but this one appeared to have been sitting around for days in what was clearly a not-cold-enough freezer. Don't buy these. What a rip-off, poor and careless service, and unhygienic food. I'm done with Two Dog Night. Stay away from this place. They'll serve you garbage if given the chance.

Google
The ice cream is good, but for the price it really isn't worth it. Also, they won't let you taste anything. If I'm going to pay $9 for ice cream, I would really like to make sure I'm going to like the flavor. Surely the $9 per person could cover 1-2 tastes; you'd think that would be built into their cost model. I know the ice cream is made with nitrogen, but other than that, there's nothing too different about it. They do have some unique flavors. The thai flavor was really good.

Google
At Two Dog Night creamery, I walked by and saw “Banana foster crunch”. Say no more, you already have me. This ice cream is made with liquid nitrogen, but they make batches in the morning rather than made to order. It was super delicious and one of the best banana ice creams I have ever had. I was super happy with this ice cream.

Google
After a lunch of tacos stopped to try their special ice cream that's made with co2. I had choc hazelenut wafer and mint chocolate, delicious is all I can say. They have lots of flavors to choose from so everybody should be able to find one they like. Can do cups or cones plus they have lots of toppings. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff plus locally owned.

Google
We were there Thursday night and showed up 5 minutes before close. The two guys working were not bothered by this and didn't rush us at all. We ate our ice creams outside the shop. My almost 2yo daughter was walking with her cute little kid cone when she dropped it, ice cream down first. I scrapped the part that hadn't touched the ground to give back to her. I shouldn't have bothered because one of the staff saw, and instantly came over to offer us another cone. While the guys were young, they showed excellent customer service and kept our little girl happy! Thank you guys! 🥰

Google
If you care about the organic, velvety, local milk as the main base of your ice-cream, this creamery is your place to go. The best ice-cream in the Bay Area I tried so far, well balanced in terms of sugar and no natural flavors, real ingredients. Stunning ice cream, soooo yummy!

Yelp
One of our favorite sweet stops. Plumette (my dog) can't resist their tiny ice cream cones after a spa day. I can't resist it either-my favs: Salted Caramel and Vegan Matcha. So many wonderful flavors. Staff: The service here is always amazing and so welcoming!
google avatar

Yelp
We walked by and the aroma got us hooked! The place is cute, staff are nice. The waffle cones are not great, it was rather undercooked and not much flavor. The ice cream was great though. We got salted caramel brownie and banana foster and both were fantastic.
google avatar

Yelp
We really wanted to go to Noble Folk ice cream but decided to give this place a try. We were served by a young man who was not welcoming or friendly. He seemed like he really didn't want to be there. We asked for a sample and he told us they don't do samples. I don't think I've ever been to an ice cream shop that doesn't do samples. (I would think that if you make your own ice cream you would want to flaunt your creations to make customers want to come back for more, but i digress.) We got coffee heath and dark chocolate peanut butter. Not worth the price at all. Long story short: just go to Noble folk ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
They have a tiny toddler cone that's perfect for kids but on the pricey side for what you get.

Yelp
Located in the Barlow this place is nex to the Farmers Wife. The ice cream is super creamy and bomb flavor. I like how they try to use as many local flavors as possible. Definitely worth the stop on a hot day!
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
There are tables outside where you can sit and enjoy yourself. There were 5 of us and everyone enjoyed the ice cream! Be sure to have a waffle cone! No pictures, because well, we were busy enjoying our ice cream! Everyone was friendly and the service was great!
google avatar

Esther H.

Yelp
Super creative seasonal sundaes. Guliana was super informative. No room for sitting, but plenty of room to sit outside. Surprise was that they handmade the peanut butter cream with liquid nitrogen. Super fun!
google avatar

Yelp
Great ice cream flavors Service was quick and efficient Fun place to hang out. Looked for Waldo while waiting You can sit outside under heaters if you prefer

Yelp
Get the caramel toffee sundae! Hands down the best sundae Ive ever had. I love me some good sweets and love to check out new and different ice cream places and this one here(as opposed to the Windsor location) never fails. This place is always packed but the service is always with a smile and they try to get you out the door while still making you feel welcomed.

Yelp
The smell of the waffle cones drew us in as we had time to kill before our pizza was ready. Both my kids enjoyed their ice cream. My daughter had the bananas foster and my son had the mint Oreo in a waffle cone. They have had their share of ice cream and it was good, just not the best they've had. It did hit the spot. If craving ice cream this will fit the bill if in the area.

Yelp
Ordered a ice cream taco. current special was cookie dough and vanilla. Will edit in full review later

Yelp
Looking for delicious ice cream? Two Dog is your answer! They always have such amazing flavors and offer vegan ice cream that is actually so freaking good. They also have fun items like an ice cream taco that will bring you back to your childhood and the smell right when you walk in will make it so you never want to leave. Love love love Two Dog!!

Yelp
The perfect nightcap when you're at the Barlow! Two Dog Night offers local organic ice cream made with nitrogen in-store with vegan and GF options. Sizes are small for $5, regular for $7, large for $9 and pint for $11. We all opted for a regular and to try two scoops in each. Here's what we tried: - Vegan snickerdoodle - so light and refreshing but still well-spiced - Dark chocolate peanut butter - rich and dense - Eggnog - so eggnog-y without being too heavy - Mint Oreo - such a good combo - Peppermint - bright pink and perfectly pepperminty - Coffee Heath bar - my mom's favorite, awesome combo You also get one topping free with the regular, so we got either almonds or Andes mints! Great friendly service, helpful recommendations, and a super cute spot inside. It would be helpful if they did samples but that's okay - all of ours were delish and a fun surprise!
google avatar

Becca B.

Yelp
The ice cream here is fun and even has vegan options! The store front is really small so the line often goes out the door on busy nights and weekends. The scoops are fine but the main selling point at the Sundaes. You get so much ice cream and mix ins, it's perfect to share.

Yelp
I had vegan cherry chip and it was so good. Great location, service, and lots of outdoor seating.

Yelp
After seeing that they use Strauss milk I knew it'd be good. And it totally was. Definitely going back to try a few more flavors, but I thought that it was pretty dang delicious. I think I'll try a Sunday next time. Last time I got a shake. Yummerz

Yelp
Never had heard of 2 dog night! Super cute, great location in the Barlow! Service underwhelming and so was the ice cream! We had toffee crunch, eggnog, and peanut butter and chocolate. Won't be going back
google avatar

Yelp
fantastic ice cream - my favorite is the b-day cake. i buy pints of it when i'm in town. I just found out that they no longer make it. I'm not sure why because it's soooo popular. bring it back please!

Yelp
Yum!!! My SO and I came here kind of randomly. We were tasting at Crooked Goat and Golden State Cider and it caught our eyes. I decided we "needed" to try some ice-cream and I'm glad we did! I had the mint sundae with their Oreo mint ice cream, Andies chocolates, Oreo, and chocolate syrup on top. It was SO good and had every bit of that farm to table vibe. Very well thought out ice cream creation! My SO ordered a scoop of the coffee health bar ice cream, and it tasted so fresh. It didn't taste like artificial flavoring, but rather tasted as if it was made from fresh coffee beans. Yum! The young man working was super friendly and helpful, too! Such a breath of fresh air to find!

Yelp
No samples, despite obscure flavors and high prices?! ... no thanks. I think the boss is missing on customers because of this. I never see a line. I happily walked out with nothing because this stingy situation. I can only hope they compensate their workers well.

Yelp
What better way to end a day exploring the Barlow than at Two Dog Night Creamery?!? They are known for their delicious fresh and creamy ice cream! They focus on creating quality ice cream that is made in-house daily using locally sourced ingredients from Straus creamer. They offer a range of ice cream flavors as well as various toppings to choose from. I love their mint Oreo ice cream with Oreo crumbles. It's my favorite and I can't visit them without getting a scope of this! They also have seasonal flavors you won't want to miss! In addition to making hand-made ice cream daily, they also make the waffle cones fresh daily too. These smell amazing when you walk into their shop! The shop doesn't have room inside for seating but there is plenty of seating located just right outside their door.

Yelp
Creamy ice cream on homemade waffle cones?! Oh yeah, I'm all about that life! Two Dog Night makes some incredibly tasty ice cream. I have to give it up to my friend for putting me up on game. I had never been to the Barlow or ever heard of Two Dog Night before my recent visit. But now, I'm already trying to plan another visit here soon. After having an amazing dinner at Gravenstein Grill, I was in the mood for something sweet. My friend suggested that we go to Two Dog Night Creamery in the Barlow. Best decision of the night! The ice cream here is so incredibly fresh, creamy and delicious! All of their ice cream is made in-house daily using organic Straus cream that's locally sourced. I always love supporting a business that also supports locally! Two Dog Night uses liquid nitrogen to freeze their ice cream which makes for a dense and super creamy texture. And trust; you can definitely taste the difference! This is some of the creamiest ice cream that I've had in a long while. They have some wonderful ice cream flavors on deck as well as several different toppings to choose from. If you can't decide on just one flavor but don't want large double scoops (for my dieters out there), they offer split scoops here too. I ended up getting a small split scoop of Banana Foster Crunch and Cake Batter on one of their homemade waffle cones. Loved both flavors, but my gaaaawdd... that Banana Foster Crunch was HITTIN'! SO delicious!!! It was so rich and dense. That plus the wonderful waffle cone just sent me. It was so damn yummy. Their little shop is tiny, but luckily there's lots of tables and open space in the Barlow. You can enjoy your ice cream at one of the many picnic tables (weather permitting). I honestly feel like I've just come up on a gem. Looking forward to my next visit when I'm back in Sebastopol.

Yelp
I got the smores shake. This place smelt so amazing, you can smell it from the outside as you approach the shop. Nice staff very friendly and cheerful. My ice cream shake cup exploded a little and I got ice cream all over my hands. The lid was put on, I think a little too much shake was poured into the cup, but accidents happen, still 5 stars. Delicious and amazing smell. I want to come back and try an ice cream in a waffle cone.
google avatar

Esmeralda C.

Yelp
Cute spot to grab some ice cream and chill outside. We got the banana foster, and it was delicious. The banana flavor was overpowering at all. Quick service.
google avatar

Karalina H.

Yelp
Ice cream at its best! Lots of flavors to choose from. Coffee and vanilla are my favorite. I also really like their waffle cone. Staff very friendly and kind. Highly recommend!

E P.

Yelp
Had they allowed a taste test, we wouldn't have ordered anything. But they didn't & we didn't like it, so a bad review, instead, is what I'm giving.

Gianna Y.

Yelp
they DONT do samples..... wtf kind of ice cream place does no samples. i smashed that no tip button. i understand not wanting to give out 3+ samples to customers but NO samples???? I walked in and immediately ordered something but also asked to try a flavor and they told me no. absolutely not you're an ice cream place that is so stupid.
google avatar

Yelp
Something smelled wonderful and we followed it to 2 dog night creamery. The sundaes are amazing we got the toffee crunch sundae, chocolate mint and Dutch chocolate ~ did not disappoint!!!! So cream deliciousness in a cup!

Yelp
Creamy, smooth, flavorful. You can feel that this is the good stuff. Way beyond Baskin-Robbins or even Hagen-Daz. Ate a scoop of Coffee chocolate chip and vanilla with crumbled heath bar. I savored every spoonful. My ice cream gold standard is Strauss creamery. Is this Two Dog as good? Wellllllll.... It's a miniscule step below in luxurious velvety mouth feel and sticky gooey butterfat. When you eat ice cream isn't it all about the maximum caloric indulgence? Rhetorical question. This is top tier boutique ice cream. I like the name of the business because I live with two dogs. Are you in the Barlow as you read this? Are you having tacos at Barrio or a Pizza at ACRE? You need dessert. Check out this ice cream.
google avatar

Lucille H.

Yelp
Located at the heart of the Barlow which was very convenient. Banana foster tasted great! Peanut butter one was a tad too sweet.

Nico P.

Yelp
Ice cream was nothing special, and they didn't allow samples. I burned myself on a small piece of dry ice that they left on the counter. The chocolate Sunday had about a teaspoon of chocolate syrup, but it was not a big deal as they gave me more when I asked.
google avatar

Brian J.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. When we asked for a glass of water they told us that the tap water was undrinkable and that they sold water next store.

Yelp
A few years ago, we found Sub-Zero and were delighted with the unique presentation of the fresh made custom nitrogen ice cream. When we returned to the Barlow a couple weeks ago, we thought that it was still there, however it had a different name with a similar concept so we gave them a try. The day that we arrived, it was horribly hot outside, and a massive group of people were around and not abiding to the covid protocol. I decided to order one scoop of the s'mores and one scoop of the chocolate peanut butter and hubby decided to go for the Cookie monster which is colored blue with spirulina. We were disappointed to see that they don't actually make the ice cream right there for you, which was part of the magic of Sub-Zero. We knew that the ice cream would be expensive compared to conventional, given that it's made in this special way and it's made with organic milk. That said, when I dove into my scoops, I felt that the extravagance I was experiencing previously had paled with this new take on the Sub-Zero model. Although it was creamy, I felt like the flavors were really muted and honestly I couldn't even taste the s'mores flavor- It was just sort of creamy/sweet. After reading some reviews on yelp from my friends, I've noted that they've said similar things: they're disappointed they don't make the ice cream fresh for you right there, and the flavors are not very impactful. I chose coming here over going to Screaming Mimi's because I remembered Sub-Zero being so good. After this experience however, I think I'll probably go back to Screaming Mimi's because their flavors are unapologetic/fresh/bold and I think overall they do a better quality job for the price.
google avatar

Bob F.

Yelp
The ice cream was good, maybe even better than average, but it was way too expensive in spite of the friendly service. Their large size which was entirely too modest with one topping was $9. The ambiance of The Barlow was nice enough, but these prices for value are ridiculously disappointing.
google avatar

Isabella F.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in after lunch in the area (where parking can be hard to find, but is available by the Sebastopol Community Market) and decided to get a banana split. The banana split comes with three scoops of ice cream, a full banana, and toppings for $12. Split between three friends, it is a little messy, but a great deal! They were out of the lavender flavor I'd wanted, but the flavors we got were great. I recommend this sweet spot to anyone looking for dessert. There is a lot of available seating outside and is socially distanced.
google avatar

Robin M.

Yelp
I love this place! I go to Sebastopol for dog training (shoutout to Sonoma County Canine) and our trainers recommended this place since they know we're vegan. The plaza it's a part of is really cute with tons of outdoor seating. The patios are dog-friendly, although one certain golden retriever barked at 2 cute little Boston terrier / French bulldogs, so if your dog is reactive, keep that in mind. The vegan options aren't all in the display case so make sure you ask. They had 2 inferior flavors in the case, so I asked and learned that they can custom make vegan flavors using a vegan vanilla ice cream base. I requested a cold brew coffee float made with vegan mint ice cream after she told me that the mint chip was their most popular. They don't have water out, but you can request a cup of water. The bathrooms are across the street and are clean and well-stocked. Oh and for people who hate plastic straws - they use paper straws and they only give you one if you request it. Oh! And their cups are compostable!
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
We hunted them down in the corner of the Barlow because we were in the mood for ice cream, but when we saw the pricetags, we almost walked right out: $7 for a "standard" serving? But we stuck around to see if they had special flavors or something. Nope. Pretty typical-looking ice cream, being served as a tiny scoop in a miniscule cup. When I saw people with those cups, I thought maybe there was a "sample size" or something? Nope. That's the $7 serving. So, between the out-if-touch prices and and completely pleb flavors, we walked out, never to return.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
Solid Ice cream spot. I think it was a converted sub zero ice cream. We came in when it was completely dead, but if it is like sub zero that line can get long quickly. We grabbed a sunday. It was delicious. I would recommend.
google avatar

Les I.

Yelp
I'm new to dairy free ice cream game so I explore when the mood strikes. I saw they had dairy free ice cream and decided to try some. Sorry I dont remember the flavor since it was a few weeks back but I do recall it just being okay. I'll probably bring my lactose pills and try the regular ice cream since I wasn't wowed by non dairy ice cream. Service was friendly and fast. Indoors is small with a few tables but clean. I'll be back to try something new to me.
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, quick service, very friendly staff. Tried the Mint Sunday- absolutely loved it- I've cream was very smooth and no shortage of toppings! Definitely a place to hit in the Barlow
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
Extra creamy ice cream with fresh waffles cones. It doesn't get much better than that! I had the s'mores ice cream. I do think it needed some graham cracker mixed in, but I did manage to put some on top.
google avatar

Gian B.

Yelp
Vegan mint + vegan strawberry! Love to see the vegan options, rolled in deep with 4 vegans & we all felt taken care of
google avatar

Elin L.

Yelp
I usually go to Screaming Mimi's, which is a couple blocks away from this place, but I thought I'd give it a try. I asked for a two flavor small scoop with a chopped banana and walnuts on top. I was told that the bananas had to be saved for their very expensive banana splits. Also, they only have almonds and peanuts. I paid $5.5 for this scoop of ice cream. If you went to Screaming Mimi's, you could get a one scoop sunday with a sliced banana on top, hot fudge, extra cherries, whipped cream, and the nuts of your choice for approximately the same price. Two Dog Creamery, why is your ice cream more expensive and has less options?

Kathy F.

Yelp
The biggest red flag was the fact that we were denied a cup of water (which I'm pretty sure is illegal) despite the fact that they have tap water and cups...Samples not allowed either even though they have a selection of like 10 flavors which is just bizarre. Ice cream offered is gimmicky which is fine if you're into ice cream tacos and "unicorn" sundays lol. The staff is all high school students who are too busy gossiping rather than offering decent customer service. So all around not a place I'm coming back to unless they change how they're running it. Walk over to Screamin' Mimi's for better ice cream and kinder staff!
google avatar

Vijay N.

Yelp
The buttery flavor and ice texture of the ice cream let a good concept down. Liquid nitrogen ice cream is supposed to make ice cream super creamy by limiting the size of the ice crystals in the product. When I took a bite of the mint Oreo ice cream, however, the ice cream tasted buttery and seemed thick when it melted on my tongue, more suitable for a milk shake than an ice cream cone. It also didn't taste strongly enough of mint, in my opinion. Kudos to the shop for offering a vegan option, but the strawberry cashew nut ice cream didn't have a nice sweet taste in the base to back up the fruit, and the little bits of strawberry in the ice cream were like little tiny ice cubes that were pretty unpleasant to eat. The vibe of the shop, the friendly service, and the location in the airy and open Barlow (an old industrial area, meaning most shops can open nearly fully to the outdoors) were all great. However, with another great ice cream shop down the street, I would probably not return here in the future without some tweaks to the ice cream base.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I'm just going to say it- I think they might be a bit pretentious. They don't allow samples, so for such unique flavors it's kind of a gamble for how expensive they are. We had two like it, and two not. For over $23 for only half to like it was like... wtf man? Lame. We will keep going to Screamin Mimi's.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Yummy, clean tasting ice cream! I wish they had more nondairy options but I'll take what I can get!
google avatar

Jaclyn M.

Yelp
It was a cold, beautiful day. But weather never stops me from eating ice cream! S E R V I C E: I walked in, and there was one person working there and only one person sitting inside eating ice cream. The person working did not seem thrilled to serve me and even sighed when I asked to try a flavor. She wasn't informative at all, and I'm not from around town so I had no idea how their ice cream shop worked. F O O D: $5 for one scoop, one small, sad scoop of their banana fosters ice cream. I love ice cream...so I wasn't that impressed. It was good, but not amazing. O V E R A L L: Probably won't be coming back because the service really turned me off, and the flavors sounded exciting, but didn't fast exciting.

Yelp
The most delicious ice cream! Selections are many and went back 2 nights in a row on a sunny day :)
