Yelp
I rarely ever write a review on a bad dining experience. I usually choose not to review them at all. In this case, I feel it's relevant information for people to decide where they want to spend their hard earned money.
We decided to stop here for a late lunch. There were only 2 people in the restaurant eating when we arrived, and no one was there when we left.
Upon entering we were told by the owner to pick up the menus from a table by the door. We did and then stood there waiting for her to let us know where to be seated. She continued wiping down tables, so I asked her if it was okay to take a seat, to which she replied, "yeah go ahead."
After a few minutes, she came over to take our drink order. Husband ordered the Gin Gin Mule. He asked what was in the drink. She said it was a regular mule, but with gin. He started to ask if it had ginger beer, but she cut him off and snapped back, "I'm trying to tell you what's in it if you'll let me finish." She wasn't joking either. No dry humor intended whatsoever. We felt so uncomfortable after that. I wanted to leave, but husband decided to wait and see if the vibe and service improved.
We ordered the lamb tacos, duck carnitas tacos, and the fish and chips. The food was good, but so hard to enjoy in an environment where you feel that you're a nuisance. We didn't dare ask for anything else or interrupt her from her cleaning.
My overall rating
The food: Good. My compliments to the chef.
Service: Rude and unwelcoming.
Ambience: Divey in a good way.
I hope this place works on how they treat their customers. It's unfortunate because it could have so much going for it. However, even with the rebranding and new name (it was formerly called Muertos) it appears that old habits are hard to change. We will not be back.
