The 13 Best Restaurants In The Medical Center - Houston - The Infatuation

"A solid option if you need a brisk solo meal or want to submerge yourself in cheese with a couple of pals, Two Guys Pizzeria is where to go for a quick slice when you’re short on time. There’s usually a steady stream of people flowing through, ordering one of the daily specials or grabbing a giant pizza slice (which is more like a kind-of-big pizza slice). The pizza highlight is the Med Center Special, which is topped with hearty meatballs, spicy jalapeños, and gooey mozzarella. But the real star of the show is the stromboli calzone that’s stuffed with a montage of meats, plus mushrooms and black olives.  " - Gianni Greene, Chelsea Thomas

I'm guessing the AC wasn't working well today. It was quiet warm even with the floor fan and ceiling fans going. The food was great and I'll probably go back when it's not 100° outside.

Google
The pizza has a nice crunchy crust on the bottom and there are plenty of toppings, however the slice didn’t have a ton of flavor. Everything was good but I think some more flavorful cheese or sauce would help it be a 5 star. I would come back if I was around and I would come a ton if I was in college near by because of the deals. Worth a try if you love pizza!

Chris Banuelos

Google
Food was not that good, I'm sorry but everything lacked any punch of flavor. Was hoping for new york style but got houston style mall pizza. I'm sorry again, great customer service though.

Rachelle Bañuelos

Google
This unfortunately just wasn’t good. It was soggy and the sauce in my opinion was too sweet. The “cheese bread” was frozen Texas toast with cheese on top and chef boyardee makes better pasta.

Andres Deharo

Google
Absolutely hands down the biggest and best slice I've ever had. I drove to Houston from Corpus Christi just for the food. I could not have gone back home without trying this place. Will definitely come back soon.

Google
Small little pizzeria with amazing flavors and quick service. Caesar salad with authentic cream Caesar dressing and huge pizza by the slice, you really get your bang for your buck, and delicious flavors. Hospitality service that makes this a great place to try!

Google
Service is great, the gentleman helping us was very nice! My young son said about the pepperoni pizza, “The way they made this pizza was really good.”

Domonique T Bufford

Google
The staff is great they treat me like family every time I come in, the food is pretty decent too the monster slice crust is fluffy and crunchy at the same time id give it a 8.5 out of 10

Yelp
As a lover of pizza, and NYC style pizza I was eager to try this pizza spot. The location is tucked away in a shopping center. Its neon signs and interior New York pizza parlor vibe is inviting. The staff was "New York-friendly," not rude, just deliberate. I ordered pickup and was impressed overall by the service. I was in and out within a minute There is seating both inside and outside. You can enjoy your pizza on site, order carry out, or have it delivered. There are plenty on beverages both alcohol is and nonalcoholic to choose from. And you can fully customize your pizza or other orders I will say, the pizza isn't overly expensive, but the toppings do add up. I would avoid the Italian sausage as it leaves a lingering taste, and that taste (to me) was less than desirable Some tips: Order online so you don't have to wait around for your pickup. They are also running a deal through Nov. 2nd that if you spend $25 on an order and used code "SPOOKY20" you get 20% off your order. And if your order is $30 or more you get a free item. Beyond that you can join their rewards program Cheers!!

Yelp
We will definitely be coming back. The man who took our order was so nice to explain everything to us and make recommendations. We all ended up trying diff things and everything was delicious. They offer great specials and a 30 in PIZZA . We will need to order one of those for our next party.
google avatar

Jim O.

Yelp
Yes, a little hole in the wall, not far from MD Anderson. But, their cheese "Monster" pizza slices are amazing! I've never had a slice that big. It was just the right amount of cheese with sauce.
google avatar

Darrick N.

Yelp
I can't describe how good this pizza is without swearing so I'll just say it's the fu$&ing bomb

Daniel C.

Yelp
Best pizza slice in HOUSTON. They have 30" pizza and that's HUGE. They sell the same pizza by the slice. UNIVERSITY SPECIAL IS MY FAVORITE. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Rene F.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and loved it . Pizza crust was perfect and the pizza tasted amazing. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items . The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean .
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza was huge! One slice was a the size of half a regular large pizza and to my surprise the flavors were there. It was nice and crunchy and will definitely hit the spot. I have one word for this place and just like listening to Mick Jagger it's "satisfying"

Camille J.

Yelp
I love this place. The single slices are so great and big. I swear I'm not a bot. Filling up the word limit.

Yelp
The pizza game in Houston is a tough pill to swallow for overall credibility of the food scene and no place epitomizes this more than Two Guys Pizzeria. As one of several pizza spots (#1) in the immediate vicinity, this might seem like a good sign for West U / Med Center pizza lovers. Unfortunately, I can't give them my blessing given how subpar the pizza is and more importantly, the unpleasant service. Med Center Plaza has a number of bizes plugged in and Two Guys is located between Southwell's (#2) and SportsClips Haircuts. On the surface it looks like an ideal casual eatery to come in, enjoy a slice, and chill out. There's outdoor seating and decent number of tables and chairs on the interior. There's always a steady flow of people, but it's never that busy. Normally, I try to grade on a curve when it comes to H-Town pizza. Whenever a place calls themselves a New York pizzeria, I have to grade them on how close they are to the real thing and here's the verdict: This is not New York pizza. And in some ways, it's not even good pizza. Granted the schtick here is their giant slices, but this is hardly comparable to giant slices even in NYC (#2). The pizza here is messy in that the cheese doesn't necessarily hold well, the crust is gummy, and the sauce is very mediocre. I appreciate novelty in many forms, but never with poor execution. I would highly recommend adding peppers and parm to bring it to form, but that's not enough to save this pizza. There's more than just pizza but their calzones, subs, and pizza rolls are not their primary attraction and it shows. The subs are kind of just slapped together and unlike the pizza, is not exactly an abundant combo of fixings. Their pizza rolls and calzones are stuffed quite well, but a semi-salt bomb flavor wise. The service leaves a lot to be desired. I've seen mishaps for pizza toppings or charges in my takeout experiences here but they're usually resolved quickly upon noticing. However the issue is that I've had to check *every* time and more often than not, something is up. The staff behind the counter isn't the warmest, which would be a non-issue if the food was outstanding. One is looking at about $60 for a full giant pie and roughly $25-30 for the others. Slices range from $5-9 and toppings are .75 extra. They have a range of other little things such as auto-gratuity for 4 people or more, no coupons accepted, and 49 cents for credit card usage. __________ (#1) It might not look like it, but there might be a half-a-dozen pizzerias in just these 2-3 blocks. (#2) This is how you do it. Exhibit A: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/koronet-pizza-new-york?select=vimS24S37lbEn-BKpse11Q

Yelp
This is genuinely the worst pizza I've ever had. I got the lunch combo with a coworker and we both agreed that the pizza had some sort of taco seasoning taste. Maybe cumin. It was very off putting. I rather eat a frozen pizza. You're better off with domino's or something of the sort.
google avatar

Yelp
Big slice and side salad lunch special is one of the best deals in Houston. Inside the restaurant is chill pizza parlor vibes. Great for a quick lunch. Service is friendly and fast.

Yelp
A solid, family owned pizza shop near a bunch of hospitals and universities. They have a 30 inch pizza available - usually giant pizzas are a red flag indicating dodgy quality. Not here. Their slices are huge and tasty. I was unaware their slices were giant. I ordered two slices and a soda by myself for lunch, and they sort of raised their eyebrows in surprise. Upon the food arriving at my table, I laughed and asked for a box to take slice 2 back to my hotel. If you're in the area, give this place a try. (Also, yes, I know most people think you should get loads of toppings. I'm a plain cheese guy.) They also had delicious looking desserts, but after the great meal, you'd probably get those for later.

Yelp
Food was good as usual and the pizza slice is huge. The $10 lunch combo with salad is a good deal for lunch.

Yelp
We have ordered pizzas from Two Guys Pizza since they opened and have always been pleased with our pizzas. Not so on Sunday, March 30, 2025. We order 3 pizzas, a meat lovers (ok), 4-cheese (okay) and a truffle Margherita with extra tomato, spinach and veggies(AWFUL!). Essentially we got a 2nd cheese pizza with a few pepper pieces and a random piece of spinach. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
google avatar

Richard J.

Yelp
So you may be be thinking "Wow, I don't know about paying $18.95 for a calzone," but let me tell you those are two meals in one. They're huge! The Greek calzone is my go-to at Two Guys.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect Pizza! Friendly staff & service. No long waiting time. Anytime I'm in Houston I get my Pizza craving satisfied at Two Guys!

Yelp
I came here Friday evening and picked up one slice of Margherita Pizza togo. I hadn't been to this place in many years. I would say since the summer of '98 or up to the fall of '00 when it may have possibly had a slightly different restaurant title, but can't remember for sure. Anyway my humongous slice of Margherita Pizza was awesome, very fresh, thoroughly cooked and very delicious. Imo, it's one of the best margherita pizzas in the Houston area. The crust was toasty, crispy and not overly soft. The cheese was very good and moist with savoriness. The basil, herbs, spices and tomatoes were all very tasty on this pizza with none being raw or burnt, just right. The slice had a somewhat sweet taste with some extra herby or season flavor in the mix almost like an aftertaste. I am very glad I finally made a stop to this cafe after so many years. Two Guys, Solario and Amalfi are my go-to spots for excellent margherita pizzas. Great, friendly service on this visit.

Yelp
best Pizza in Houston, and great service! The food came out fast and we got free cookies as an extra. This is also a unique thing, I've never seen pizza this big. - shine bright like a diamond

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had! So delicious. Clean. Great service. Can not wait to go back.

Yelp
We were in the area and my kids wanted pizza. There was no one there on the Wednesday afternoon we went, we had to place to ourselves. It was really, really warm inside the place, bordering on too hot to stand, but there was a fan and we were fine. We each got a slice of pizza and my two kids couldn't even finish one slice between the two of them they are so massive. It was pretty good, but I felt like I could've had more cheese on it and it sort of tasted like when you reheat pizza in a toaster oven the next day. I mean not bad by any means but it didn't taste like a fresh slice of pizza. We would go again maybe if we had a larger party and order a whole pie.

Yelp
TL;DR Greasy mediocre food and 0 customer service. Naaaaahhhh this ain't it. Ordered a large university (double pepperoni and double mozzarella) and 12 wings. First of all, the pizza is just a regular pepperoni. No extra slices anywhere. Then, after a 25 minute drive home...I open my wings and I only have 11 wings. So now I'm upset . I call the store to complain. The phone connection is so bad that I can barely hear him. He said he has an issue with his phone. Great. I tell him that I'm missing a wing. He says oh maybe it got stuck in the machine. Ok. So? I paid with card. Just refund me the difference. He said that was impossible. I'd have to drive 25 minutes back to either pick up 1 wing or get refunded 1 wing. Naaahhh. He then doubles down and proceeds to say. It's really not a 12 piece. It's a 10 piece but sometimes we give extra. Then why does it say 12 piece on your website? I take my loss and try 1 of my 11 wings....it tastes like a day old wing that was thrown back in the fryer. GROSS. GREASY. DISGUSTING I can handle bad to mediocre food when the service is amazing. But with bad food and bad service you will never get my business again.

Yelp
Saw this place on Pinterest had to come check it out. Slices were huge and ingredients tasted fresh. Would come back again!

Yelp
The service was wonderful. Very welcoming and inviting. The place seemed ok overall. We ordered takeout. Wait time was 15 min. We ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, and Italian sausage, 6 buffalo hot wings and 2 cannolis. The wings were cooked perfect, and had good flavor. The cannolis were more frosting based than cream, which I'm not a huge fan of. My biggest complaint was the sauce on the pizza. There were chunks of red onion all throughout the pie. I called and asked why red onions were added to my order and it was explained to me the onions are part the sauce. The reason they were so big is that they must of not gotten chopped fully according to them. They were extremely nice and understanding when I called and offered to make me a new pizza or any item off their menu another time. My mom and I couldn't eat the pizza because we both do not like red onions.

Lori H.

Yelp
Just horrible.......as a New Yorker, now living in SW Florida, I learned fast how the South just can't get it right. The establishment was empty, the first thing I should have picked up on. Very hungry so I gave it ago. The slices were horrible, the place run by non-Italians, perhaps Arab from what I could assume. Regardless, $20 bucks on two slices and a fountain coke I lost.....I am just hoping I don't get sick.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
I have passed by this spot countless of times and finally decided to try a slice. I got a single slice with Italian sausage, onions and peppers. Something about that sauce I can't quite put my finger on is so delicious. The toppings were fresh but I wish could've been cooked a little longer. More cheese would be nice too. Overall 4/5
google avatar

Yoona L.

Yelp
My brother and I tried this pizza shop after seeing the giant 30" pizza on Instagram! The flavor of the pizza was good and the crispiness of the bread was good too! The interior was cute and cozy and the customer service was super great! The man who took our orders was very kind, he checked up on us, and gave us some ranch as well. I believe the giant slices are $5.50 for a regular cheese and $0.75 for each topping.

Yelp
Two words: absolutely delicious! I tried this pizza for the first time when a coworker ordered from this place as I requested that we have pizza for lunch one day. I've had plenty of spinach Alfredo pizzas in my day, but this one takes the cake!! It actually comes topped with chicken, but I always request to remove the chicken as I'm vegetarian. They have no issues doing this, by the way! Besides spinach and Alfredo sauce, it's topped with red onion and two different kinds of cheeses (feta and I think also Parmesan?). The combinations of flavors is incredible and I promise you that will be HOOKED on this pizza once you try it. That's actually a true statement as my coworkers had never had an Alfredo pizza before and they ordered it every week for weeks after I first introduced them to it. You can thank me later, just as they did Also, the staff is friendly, which is always appreciated in my book. It's a small place so ordering to-go is probably most ideal (it is for me, anyways) but it's BYOB for wine if you feel like dining in and bringing your own bottle.
google avatar

Faiza Z.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 6. The pizza was so good and fresh! I'm generally pretty picky about eating the crust, but it was so warm and fluffy - I ate the whole thing! Will definitely be coming back here.
google avatar

Dorian W.

Yelp
Wow! I have lived in the area for 5 years and never stopped by to experience this pizza masterpiece! This place transports you to a small pizzeria in New York with their traditional red and white table cloths and chalkboard menus. The menu includes by the slice create your own pizza and house special pizzas. On this visit I ordered the 16" sausage, pepperoni, and fresh garlic pizza. The sauce was spectacular and rich and the cheese and garlic melded together for an explosion of Italian spices and flavors! 5/5 Also tried the hot garlic wings. These were pretty on par with most wings from a pizza place but the sauce was unique with garlic and a vinegar base sauce. 4/5 This is definitely my new pizza spot!

Hugo H.

Yelp
Ordered a Philly cheese steak sub and a slice of meat lovers. The food was ok. If you've had Sam's Club pizza , it's a little better than that. The pizza crust was good. Crispy. The sub was ok. The customer service is what really impressed me. The guy at the counter was so nice and very attentive. Customer service 5 stars!
google avatar

Yelp
We've been longtime customers of Two Guys and I've never been disappointed. Their pizza is delicious and their service is top notch. They really care about their customers here. Yesterday, I ordered a monster pizza for my son's 4th birthday party and we fed almost 30 people with it! I had it delivered through DoorDash and made a mistake on my toppings. I called and they were able to fix it for me so my pie was perfect!! They didn't have to do that since I ordered through a third party, but that's how much your business matters to them. Love this place!

Aaron R.

Yelp
Great service, great selection of pizza choices and toppings, quick delivery turn around. Locally owned business.
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
I really like the individual slices. They're large! 1 slice is the length of a pizza box. One will surely be enough. The dough is thick, soft, yet crunchy. I wish there was a bit more cheese though, but it's good pizza. It takes a bit to prepare so call ahead. The prices are great and the staff is nice.
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
I used to like this place. No problem with the service. It was fine. Two Guys Pizzeria was just a dingy as in the past. It is the ingredient quality that doomed them. Very cheap except for the Cucumbers and Tomatoes. It has gone way downhill. I am sorry to give a one star review; it's not edible anymore. Sorry I have to give a one star. Please improve. It is just plain bad now.
google avatar

Glenn W.

Yelp
We are from out of town and wanted something for dinner! We had a large pepperoni pizza! The sauce absolutely makes this pizza some of the best we have eaten! It came to our table piping hot with a great amount if molten cheese! There is lots of pepperoni on top and under the cheese! We will be back!
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Pizza was great and quick to be served. Service was good literally 2 guys that honestly seemed a little lost. But definitely worth the time casual and good cold beer as well

Yelp
I met a friend here for lunch as both of us were in the mood for some pizza. It is located on Holcombe, just past fannin and its a very busy area. The Pizzeria itself is very small in size. I would say they have about 6 tables total. As this was my first visit, it took me a few minutes to look through the menu and decide on what to order. I had my infamous freeloading friend with me. They had a nice selection of lunch specials available daily primarily with their gigantic pizza slices. We actually ordered their chicken wings as appetizers. They were out of BBQ style, so we had no choice but to order the regular hot style. As for the pizza, we went with a margherita pizza. The wings were disappointing. While they looked good, their was not much taste to them. They had a lot of skin on them. I was not impressed. Also, the sauce was not pasted properly on wings. Now the pizza was very good. Packed with tomatoes, basil leaves, and Italian seasoning. Plus we added extra crushed red peppers to enhance the taste. It was cold that day, so a hot pizza really helped warm up the immune system. I just recently found out that this location also has a groupon offer, so check if it is still available. I shall return.
google avatar

Tifa T.

Yelp
This joint has been serving me delicious hot slices for over 10 years. It is THE BEST pizza in HTOWN. They have found the perfect balance of New York style and hand tossed. Many don't know that the dough is the heard of the pizza, but these two guys have perfected it.
google avatar

Goose G.

Yelp
One Guy could do a much better job. Not worth my time or money. Just not good and inside was dirty
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
I came here for the lunch special, which is one giant slice of their pizza and a house salad. The slice is huge the dough is thin like New York style which is how I like my pizza and the house salad is just your typical salad mix with a side of Ranch dressing. The lunch definitely filling and worth every dollar.
google avatar

Hecmarie L.

Yelp
Yummy gluten free pizza! Also home of the 12" slice and 30" pie ... Located in the CVS strip mall has about 5-6 tables in small inside and another 3-4 outside. Beer and wine available. Think of your mom n pop corner pizza place with huge slices and pizza although they do have smaller ones and also offer calzones and sandwiches ect.
google avatar

Lindsay Z.

Yelp
Delicious quality pizza, always has fresh ingredients/taste, yummy desserts, They've always delivered within the provided time range.

Amir V.

Yelp
Pretty decent, my mom was raving the place since her job got pizza from here. To me I like pizza that is thin crusted. I am big pepperoni pizza dude but it was alright. But I did tried pesto for the first time on pizza and it tasted pretty good. But for me I like Grimaldis style pizza also the garlic knots were to garlicky.
google avatar

Diane F.

Yelp
Ordered a Two Guys Supreme and it was really good. Lots of toppings, very thin crust.

Ken S.

Yelp
My wife and I was seeking some good pizza after a day at MD ANDERSON in Houston, Tx. We Googled BEST PIZZA NEAR ME and was directed to TWO GUYS PIZZA. We found a clean restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Being 90+ degrees out, we decided to order in. They had a full menu of pizza and sandwich options. We ordered the 12" Supreme pizza and a couple sodas. The prizes were reasonable, server was polite and patient. We had our pizza in a reasonable time. It was stack with fresh ingredients and tasted delicious. We surely recommend this restaurant to anyone near or far that is seeking an awesome pizza experience. ~Ken & Kris from FLORIDA

Yelp
I've have ordered them maybe like 5 times and it's been not as good the last few times. Not for the price. Greek pizza was mediocre and the wings were not that great either, also the blue cheese is the bottle kind which is a little sweet and just not good. Won't be back anymore unfortunately.
google avatar

Victor P.

Yelp
Excellent thin crust pizza, my favorite is the veggie. Nothing fancy but it is flavorful and the ingredients are fresh
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
Looked for a good local place to eat at while we were in town and found Two Guys. They were very friendly and the food was outstanding. Large portions for the price. We had to come back the next day and will definitely eat here when we come back.
google avatar

Harris G.

Yelp
Horrible service and ordering experience. They don't answer their phone, took a dozen phone calls and 15 min to make an order, then told it's a 20 min wait. When showed up to pick up, they don't have the order or have given to another party. Had to resubmit order and wait another 20 min. NO lunch specials are available today because they don't have salad. Seems dismissive of the issue and blamed it on lack of staff (although ironically they do have 2 guys working).
