Two Hands Review - Little Italy - New York - The Infatuation

"Let’s start here: Two Hands is one of those coffee shops that everyone posts Instagrams from. If you pay attention to such things, this is very old news to you, as this laid back cafe was one of the early beneficiaries of the photogenic food movement on social media. Pretty pictures of avocado toast turned out to be a pretty successful way to bring people to your food establishment, and by people we mean young people. Come to Two Hands on a bank holiday, and the place basically looks like the crowded lunchroom of an affluent high school. In Melbourne. For models. But Celine bags and smartphones aside, there is actually a much bigger reason that Two Hands has become so successful, and it all boils down to one thing - Australians. The place is run by and filled with Aussies, and that’s a great thing. Why? Think about it this way. Have you ever met a mean Australian? Seriously. Find me one Aussie that isn’t the friendliest f*cking person in the room, and I’ll buy you a domesticated miniature koala. Because guess what? Neither of those things exist. That’s why Two Hands has basically become the Infatuation’s satellite office. Since moving our HQ down to the neighborhood, it’s become our go-to spot for meetings, breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon coffee runs, mostly because the people here are so friendly. The food is solid and the coffee drinks are excellent, and that matters, too. But we keep coming back because it’s basically the opposite of Dimes - a place where you can walk in off the street and be treated well while you eat your acai bowl, regardless of who you are. Even if you’re only there to take a picture of it. Food Rundown Acai Bowl It’s pretty, and that’s why you’re going to order it. The granola on top is even gluten free, just in case you have a gluten allergy, which statistically, you probably don’t. But still. Avo Toast When you order avocado toast at Two Hands, you must know two things. First, DO NOT say the “cado” part. Aussies shorten all words in to much better words like “brekkie” and “sambo,” and you best follow suit. Second, order it with the scrambled eggs on top. Maybe even say, “with scrambo.” Actually, no, don’t say that. Ricotta Toast There’s bread under there. Promise. Cranberry pecan bread from Balthazar to be exact. Good for you for eating bread. Bacon & Egg Sambo A good egg sandwich with bacon on brioche. Get it with some avo on it. Corn Fritters One of the bigger portions of food at Two Hands, so head in this direction if you’re super hungry or just really passionate about food stacked vertically. The fritters are excellent, held together with avo as mortar and topped with a poached egg. Can’t go wrong. Little Italy Sandwich An excellent, albeit somewhat small, Italian-style sandwich with mozzarella, prosciutto, and tomato on a baguette. We get this for lunch often, and supplement with a side of banana bread. Banana Bread A “signature” item at Two Hands, this banana bread is gluten free (for that allergy you probably don’t have) and best when topped with other stuff, like ricotta and honey." - Chris Stang

Google
Dear potential customers, I'm looking through different venue options at the moment, and I've never in my life been more glad to read through negative reviews before making a commitment. Every single one I've read so far mentions service not being what was expected, surprise charges, and particularly, pushy management. There have been many cases of customers raising concerns about personal data collection, which I'm sure any sane person can agree, is a perfectly reasonable concern to have. However, the most consistent pattern I've noticed was is the responses to these aforementioned negative reviews. Regarding personal data concerns, I've seen at least a half dozen cases of this staff member referring to customers using their full names, sarcastically, and in a clearly desperate attempt to mock their reasonable frustration and use intimidation tactics. I've seen nothing that reasonably justifies the collection of mobile numbers and email addresses, and I would be loathe to find myself threatened by anyone for providing an honest review. Many of the responses read, in my opinion after dedicating the last hour to reading them, as only appropriate for a diary entry. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is immature primary school bullying. I truly hope by now that this person (if it was only one) has since been removed, as I never wish to deal with a business that is satisfied with treating their customers in such a blatantly disgusting and inappropriate manner. The only reason I am taking the time to write this today, is that unless the business agrees that the behaviour displayed online is in fact an acceptable representation of the business, these replies would have been removed a long time ago. I urge you to read through negative reviews before you make a wrong decision.

Amazing rooftop bar in Abbotsford. The Ashish’s has ice on the head which makes it super cool and service is also fantastic. Always a beautiful experience.

Look it wasn't bad but it wasn't the greatest either they had a time when they were open and closed but don't go by that they went by how many customers they had. Since it was dead they closed their doors early which was annoying and on top of that they didn't come and check on the only customers they had upstairs. Getting a drink was expensive even if it wasn't alcohol. We avoided them for the rest of the week and went elsewhere after the experience.

Yelp
OH MYYYYYY This place is a mase The owners are mase Truly, such crazy innovation and absolute wonder how they can be transformed from a $2 Shop to what I remember in 2015 ONLY first floor 2017 Beer Garden and we moved to QLD. I visited them last week. 200 Over seating ROOFTOP, Indoor, Outdoor, Pool area, Beer Garden, Curb Side Trading. I remember the guy with the glasses from many years. New beautiful full of energy bar lady. I am now living in St Kilda but any time come to Richmond, my place is TWO HANDS and only TWO HANDS. Thanks for the Shisha Love 66. It was sooo good. xxxx

Yelp
I remember coming here shortly after it had opened and I was pretty impressed with the place, though for some reason it kept on slipping my mind. Occassionally I would go past on a tram, see it, and say to myself that I have to go back there one time, but keep on putting it off. However that time came recently when I wanted a drink after work only to discovered that the other bars along here were packed to the brim. So I went a little further down Victoria Road and found this place. As it turned out they had a pretty decent happy hour (something the other places don't have) as well as a nice beer garden out the back (though you couldn't actually take your beer there). The staff were also pretty cool, so I guess this is going to be another one of those places that I will visit more often than not (hopefully) down on Victoria Road.
