Two Jack's Seafood

Found this place on a whim by looking at Google maps. Ever since a trip to the Midwest to a small fish shack, I've been looking for something similar and this place fit the bill from head to toe. Grabbed the small serving of catfish fillet with strawberry cake, boyfriend got the small serving of tilapia with peach cobbler. Both came with generous portions (6-7 pieces of fish on a heaping basket of fries with two slices of bread chilling atop it all) and only took about ten minutes to make. Chatting with the proprietor, he guaranteed I would be back, and honestly? He knows his stuff. I intend to bring my friends here soon to try it out. This is as close to southern fried fish as you'll get. Crispy, perfectly cooked fish, no fishy flavor, just delicious flakey tender meat with a cornmeal crisp, and no overly greasy feeling on anything. Once I got home I grabbed some pickles, sliced up some fresh onion, and dug in. This place is incredible, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. All in all, it was $30 and I tossed in a $5 tip. Place is To go only, cash only, as many great hole in the wall institutions in the city would be. I will be back for more, and am only disappointed that I've lived in the city for ten years and just found this place, and it's not even a 10 minute drive from me. Try this place if you get a chance. Oh, and if the door is locked, just knock, they let me in at 5:30 on a Friday night and locked the doors, but are open for those hungry enough to ask.

Hole in the wall spot, in a place you wouldn't expect to even see a restaurant. Glad it's still here. My go-to spot for fried catfish. Always fresh. A little unevenly seasoned sometimes, but everything can't be perfect all the time. Some pieces are just a little more salty than others. I can live with that. The OGs in the back know what they're doing, and orders don't take long to come out. Everything is cooked to order, so keep that in mind. Haven't tried the desserts yet, but will in the future.

This fish is better than any fish in Oakland (sorry) but it is!!!! Reminds you of them back in the day JOInTS that no longer exist. I don’t mind taking that trip across the water for this here. Please stay in business so I can’t keep bringing you mind coins!!! Thanks TWO JACKS!!!

I've been going to 2 Jacks since I was a child! My favorites are the snapburger with peppers, snapper sandwich, snapper order, chicken wings and the cheeseburger. The workers have always been really cool with me. Never have I had a problem with them or my orders. I've turned my kid's on to them. My go to spot and when they're closed, I'm kind of upset.

I ordered the snapper burger with a side of fries. It was delicious. My coworker was eating 1 and it looked really good. So after work I drove down to get 1 myself. The fish is well seasoned, the bread was soft, fries were still hot once I got home. I have eaten here several more times with no disappointment. The owner guy has a great attitude and very friendly each time I have gone in. They don't take credit so had to get cash. Don't bother calling ahead the guy is way too busy to pickup the phone. I will continue to eat here in the near future. The burger taste delicious😋. Stop on by and get you some home cooked food. NOT FAST FOOD, COOKED FOOD!!!!! Stop by and feed your soul with good food.

I heard really good things about this place but it wasn’t what I thought.

Good food here with nice portions. I prefer corn flour over corn meal. That's why 4 stars. Location is in the hood and you will see the locals hanging out but don't let that deter you. You will see door open thats it no address on wall. Good food in here and they have deserts and can sodas. Faint smell of bleach because they wipe down and mop regularly. Cool spot you want be disappointed. Take out only

Best fish and chips in San Francisco. Been open since 1972. In a restaurant inclined city, that longevity speaks volumes. Many varieties of fish and big chicken wings. Fried to perfection!! Worth the trip to the Southern end of the city. Call ahead so you can walk right in pick up your order and keep moving. Everything is cooked to order.

I wish Yelp had half stars too. 2 Jack deserves more than 3 but less than 4. So I found this place on Yelp and checked out their pics on Yelp and Google. Saw that they had a card payment in one picture so I felt confident I could use mines. When I walked in after I called to order and there is a large sign inside, CASH only! So I asked where I could find the closest atm. And that was all the way up the block where muni runs. I'm going tell you this isn't the best hood it's on a sketchy block. That you just wanna get in and out of, being use to the hood I peeped that. Well after trying to find 3 different atms I finally got it and drove back down and picked up my fried snapper and fried solo. The fired fish has a flour cornmeal dredge that's not caked on but lightly breaded. Overall a decent spot for some fried fish

I wish I can give 3.5 star and here is why. We phoned our order in and the staff was very kind and patient explaining the options. We arrived at the site and food was ready for pick up. All of them are patient and courteous to the customer. There is no seating inside the restaurant so everything is to go only. The food is average - Note that taste is a personal preference and I wish there was more seasoning, not necessarily salt but more flavor. There is also too much cornmeal breading for my taste. The portion is definitely big enough and justify the cost, just not my preference flavor wise.

Food is awesome. Service is awesome. Great place to dine and eat area is not the best but the food makes up for it.

My rating is completely on customer service. Their customer service is very bad. Very rude, very impatient and I went on a day that I was the only person in there. I'm not gonna lie. Their food is really good but I do not spend my money at places where the people are rude. This is my second time going there and both times I got a very rude customer service, so no matter how good their food is there's better food somewhere else, and I will not be back. I hate going to black on businesses and seeing how rude they are to their own people. Smh

Doesn't sound like much when you hear the name and see the location. Expect that exactly! For some reason my cousin has been craving it since her last pregnancy and drags us here every so often. Two jacks has been around forever so if your are a Bayview local you have surely heard of it. Seafood and seafood sammie/burger are what they are known for. Approximately 5$ and up not including fries. I never ordered anything else. FYI tip: know what you want before you call and order or things can get a bit hasty. The food is not would you would consider eating on a fish burger either, Nothing special, all the toppings of a regular burger or sandwich: lettuce, tomato, mayo and an America cheese slice with a simple fried piece of fish of your choice slapped between a hamburger bun. I would prefer if they toasted the buns a little because they seem a little stale when I had it. It's was not a bad sandwich, but there is nothing special about it to make you want to come back. Comes with a mini paper bag full of condiments (tartar, hot sauce, ketchup).

Hellllooooo!!!! I have been going to this place since I was a baby. The food has always been great. Even used to go to the one Haight and also on Leland before they closed. The workers and owners are all nice people. The nuggets used to be my favorite until I tried the cat fish burger and it happened to take its place. I have tried everything besides the oysters and everything happens to be delicious. Not being biased just because I have been going here forever... It's just the truth; Deserts are great! The chocolate on chocolate cake is the best! The prices are great even since the pandemic happened. Great people great food! Check it out when you can. Even if you aren't a fried food type of person you might actually like this food! Scratch the might you will definitely LOVE the food!

This place has been around for many years. It's take out only. The food is excellent. If you want some southern style fried fish or chicken, this is your place. It's good, good, good!!!!

Well I finally made down to two jacks and just like I thought there chicken was still good this place has been around for many years today I had a combo chicken and prawns for $19 comes with FRIES I give them 31/2 stars if u want a good deal check it out there fish and burgers are also good I just happen to have the prawns that cost more on this picture I plated some of my food thanks two jacks for your good food

Great food! Fish made with old school corn meal! It dont get no better than that! I will support local businesses as long as there food is great! Two jacks been around for decades! Love them

This use to be 1 of my favorite places to get homemade fried fish but it has truly gone down hill for me the small pieces of cat fish I was served was so disappointing I'm being nice by giving a 2 star!!!

Staff is respectful, place of business can be updated a bit, however the food is good, I particularly like the friend chicken and shrimp. Give them a try you most likely won't be dissatisfied

Great food for years, nothing fancy just down home good. Never had a bad meal. Good service always on time with phone orders.

Best hole in the wall ever. Once in awhile I crave a red snapper sandwich from two jacks I call in my order and they always have it ready when I get there. Two jacks been here forever before I was even born lol my parents used to come here back in the day. There are no signs you world never know this place sells anything it hard to spot but if you are looking for a good cheap lunch or dinner come here don't judge it by the outside. Also just a reminder they are closed Sundays & Monday's.

Little gem in San Francisco !! Bomb fried chicken and fresh fish. Something they offer peach cobbler and cakes.

I love the fish because it reminds me of my mom and grandmothers Friday fish fries. When you want to taste old school deep fried fish flavor of the south, this your place. The guys who are running the place are friendly and professional. The people that frequent the place are like family. The fish is fried to perfection. I always ask for the tails and they go out of their way to accommodate me. As a matter of fact I think I'll get off this review and go get some now!!! See you there. Bye!!!

Glad that Two Jacks is in my work neighborhood. There's not much to choose from here, so when I don't bring my lunch I have a good go-to. I generally get the snapper and fries and it's always bomb. If you need ambiance and great customer service, wrong place. You want good food, right place. Word.

When I'm in the city I call in my order and they always get it right. Catfish fried hard with the tails especially when my old school boy Red is on the fryer especially at the Gilman Street location!!! Shrimp and oysters on hit too and the old-school burger.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered food here when I got home my food was horrible looking the chicken they prepared was old and black it was not fresh at all the fish was not fresh I don't know what's going on here but they need to stop you really are playing with people lives. I waste money my time and a tip and had to throw it all away bad business

Dry fried , no bueno , friendly people , went there two weeks ago my good friend Richard did phone order and we drove down picked up the food it was excellent . WTH happen in two weeks . Walk ins get different food? Lol. French fries were good though . Just because in not Richard an old friend I get dry fry ! At least I got the last word .

Ok so went to Two Jacks on Gilman Street approximately 3-4 months ago, ordered bone in cat fish, was asked if I wanted to be fried hard or soft I said softly not RAW!!!!!, that's what it was every piece was RAW!!, went there on 8/22/2017 ordered bone in Cat, I do believe that's exactly what it was fried cat it was as dry then the desert storm I WAS PISSED! It'S nasty these days it is not the same 2Jjacks, however, they are still in full operation. They need a good kick in the pants!

THERE IS NO SIGN!!!!!!!! This is the true definition of hidden gem, because THERE IS NO SIGN!!!!!!!! Hell, I'm from San Francisco, passed by this place the other day and even i didn't know it was open until I recognized the cooks outside smoking cigarettes. This place is dirty and in an impoverished neighborhood. That's foodie code for," Go during the day." Once again.....THERE IS NO SIGN!!!!!!!! If you go here and find the place and enjoy the food please compliment me, because me writing this review may be the only way other people find out about this place. Why?? Because.......THERE IS NO SIGN!!!!!!!! I have had their burgers in the past, but I mainly come for the fried fish. I'm a fan of the Buffalo fish, which is getting less and less common. If one tries it, beware that there are very very small bones and if its the first time, one should eat it with a friend that has been trained in the Heimlich maneuver. brought my sister here in december and she decided to try the snapper. i had my usual catfish, but i think after trying the snapper - i know it's the one (until i try a different fish!). came with the typical sides of fries and two pieces of bread, made sure i got 4 containers of hot sauce and ketchup, and drove home. my car smelled like southern seafood for a while, which i don't mind - it'll remind me that i'm hungry for two jacks again. this place is truly a hidden gem for those who don't know the area. but if yall need help finding this place, it's across the street from the park and right next to the church, and it always has an open door. =]

So granted, this isn't haute cuisine, but for what is it, it's yummy! I used to go down the street on Revere to Lee's for my burgers but got fed up with how they treat customers. This is a little farther drive but worth it in my book! The burger is yummy, the portions of fries is great. Only bummer was they were out of catfish nuggets but that's ok, I'll order them next time! A friend recommended and I've thanked him numerous times for this find. Warning: they make the food to order so it can take longer than 2 mins to get your food, but I prefer this. Also it's not the flashiest of places - but it's a diamond in the rough!

Best oyster burger I've had! It's hard to find because there is no sign, but come for the oyster burger. And it's cheap!

Customer service SUCKS but the food is good for a quick meal

Man let me tell you first it's be 14 years since I last ate/ worked here so today 10:13/16 I went down for lunch from work and man I tell you the bacon cheeseburger was on point good flavor like back in the day and to top it off with a good strawberry cake I will go back again to kick it off you can send just under 10 for a bcb, ff and drink. For that price it's better than a national commercial brand.

coool place to stop by for a quick mid day lunch.. definitely not to impress the ladies tho.. CATFISH BURGER!!
