Look Back at the Most Beautiful Twin Cities Restaurants to Open This Year | Eater Twin Cities

"I observed that the Bizarre Foods chef’s first major restaurant has had a rocky start, but the interior design sets the place up for fun: a tiki bar with two slushie machines and an entire dining room that sits under a cricket‑caged top." - Joy Summers

We were going to call ahead to see if there was a wait time but they only do reservations of 5 or more. We went in on a Saturday evening and we're able to be seated right away. The hostess and our waitress were very pleasant. The bread they serve is very light and fluffy Id recommend the bruschetta to anyone as an app. The Luigi's favorite pasta dish is enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The stuffed shells are an absolute must have.

Google
Love the vibes in here. It's very nicely decorated. It's a space that I could see getting very loud at busy times because there's no soundproofing. The food was overall good. They excel at sauces and noodles. Honestly though? The meatballs were underwhelming. They were slightly underseasoned and could use a bit more breadcrumb. The meats seemed squishy.

Google
The food was great from the appetizers to the main course. Very tasty the staff was awesome it was my bonus sons birthday and they treated him so good sang happy birthday and brought him out dessert. We will go back again.

Sam our server was great first off! My family enjoyed the three course meal for charity, the grouper, and chicken broccoli calzone! Meatball side dish was fantastic!

Went on a fairly busy weeknight and was seated immediately. Server, Luz, was right on the ball and immediately took my order and returned with a drink and complimentary garlic knots. I ordered one of the house specialties, the two meatballs and pasta dinner. The entree was reasonably priced for the portions served. From the time I ordered to receiving my meal was less than five minutes. The dinner was piping hot and pasta cooked perfectly. OMG, the meatballs are literally the size of baseballs or maybe even larger. The meatballs were moist, not dry and cooked thoroughly. My only criticism was the garlic knots were served hot with grated cheese but kinda bland, not very garlicky but that didn’t matter anyway because no way could eat the knots and come close to finishing the meatballs. Luz was spot on with a to go container and her service with a smile. Would definitely give a thumbs up.

We have been to both the Cape Coral and Fort Myers locations, and both were very good. On this visit, we enjoyed their pizza. The crust was perfectly cooked (perfect light crisp on bottom throughout). The sauce and toppings were delicious. They do pizza very well here! The best we have enjoyed in the area. We both had a salad to start. The house and Ceasar salads were very good. My husband said their ceasar salad was better than another local Italian restaurant. We arrived around 430. They have happy hour in the bar area only from 4-6. The bar area was busy, then died down right after 6. The bartender was great!

Google
The meatballs are the star of the house—super tasty and definitely recommended! 🧆 I ordered Luigi’s Favorite Pasta, and it was incredible—cheesy, rich, and perfect for sharing because the portion is big. 🧀🍽️ The pizza was also delicious—crispy and flavorful. The lasagna was warm, hearty, and satisfying. Kayla was our server and did a great job—very attentive and kind. 👏 The ambiance is super casual and spacious, great for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Definitely a place to come back to when you’re craving classic comfort food!

Google
Great service and delicious Italian food. Big portions too. I was delighted to take home half of my stromboli to enjoy the next day. Some unique wines on the menu as well, if you're adventurous.

Yelp
October 2025 Food - We really loved our selections, see photos. Very flavorful and fresh. Including our cocktails & wine. Service - Sam was our server tonight, he was awesome. Always appreciate when someone knows their stuff, makes great suggestions. Most important, super nice. Ambiance - The interior is beautiful. The bar is really nice

Yelp
For the prices the decor would have been a bit nicer. Not to nit pick but the glasses were even plastic huge cocoa cola cups resembling like you'd get at a quick pizza shop. For nearly $30/plate, you should have glassware, just my opinion. Nice that they gave garlic bread on the house, we thought it had an odd taste and smothered in oil. I ordered the grilled salmon. It had "grill" marks but it did not taste grilled at all and came with very bland vegetables. My husband ordered shrimp scampi, the shrimp were very small and he wasn't wowed by it. Not to be TMI but I had to use the bathroom almost immediately after eating my stomach was mess from this meal. (We were visiting from NY, so maybe our expectation for Italian food is a bit higher) The reviews rave about the red sauce, maybe stick to traditional red sauce, meatballs. Our waitress was very nice and attentive! Overall nice staff.

Yelp
Gorgeous ambiance, amazing drink specials, spectacular Italian fare, and their salmon piccata is the hidden gem if you want something less filling. Fresh steamed veggies , homemade garlic knots, in house made pastries and unbelievable servers like Kayla and you have the recipe for the perfect evening. Live music on the weekends and a great bar and dining area, fabulous prices, fantastic service, dining perfection awaits you at two meatballs. I love it......

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here today. My hubby and I decided last minute we want to have a nice Italian meal and everything was pretty good. It's just the fact that the meatballs were pretty dry. Normally it's a nice moist meatball even though they're gigantic unfortunately the picture doesn't show it as well because my husband and I shared one Mail because of him they're just so big and we just decided to share it and each got half and it was so good exception of the meatballs. That's the only reason why I gave it four stars our server Brianna was fabulous sweet prompt Excellent atmosphere excellent spaghetti salad rolls. Excellent. They just need to improve on the meatballs. I don't know if it was just an off day but that's all they need to do other than that. This is still a really good place to go to eat.

Yelp
First time at "Two Meatballs" as we were attending a show at Music and Arts Center nearby. We loved the complimentary garlic bread knots. I had the eggplant with pasta and it was delicious. My husband had the grouper and pasta. He loved it. The portions were huge so we both had leftovers for another meal. We would definitely return and try something different next time.

Yelp
We were in town visiting and decided on this place for dinner after reading the reviews. The restaurant is causal and comfortable. It has booths and tables and a nice bar. There were lots of fun signs around as decor. We were seated quickly and greeted by a friendly server. I asked her about the specialties on the menu and she was happy to share her suggestions. She brought us a starter of garlic rolls in a bowl of flavored olive oil. They were tasty but the oil was a bit much. It would have been better to have just a smaller amount of oil. We started the meal with 2 appetizers, the bruschetta and a sampler that included mozzarella squares, a stuffed shell, and a meatball. The squares were just their version of mozzarella sticks. They were flavorful and not over fried. The meatball was huge and tasted good but wasn't a strong flavor of anything. The stuffed shell was tasty. For our entrees we had the chicken francese and a make your own pizza. The chicken had a very strong lemon taste and was tasty. The pizza was a bit on the well done side. The cheese tasted a bit chewy and wasn't my favorite. The sausage was well seasoned and I did enjoy that. Overall our experience was nice. The server was pleasant and attentive. We didn't have to ask for refills.

Heidi J.

Yelp
Our go-to stop on the way to Sanibel. This place is usually busy and with good reason. The food is reliable and service is good. Nothing spectacular but good. We had the chicken ceasar salad but other dishes are equally as good. Sharable sizes.

Yelp
The meatballs are the house specialty--super tasty and definitely worth ordering. I had Luigi's Favorite Pasta and it was incredible: rich, cheesy, and definitely a dish to share, as the portion is quite large. The pizza was also delicious--crispy and full of flavor. The lasagna was warm, comforting, and well made. Our server, Kayla, was great--very attentive and pleasant throughout our visit. The restaurant has a casual and spacious atmosphere, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family. A solid spot for classic comfort food.

Yelp
Superb food and big portions! I ordered take-out twice and was able to get two meals out of each one.

Tanya P.

Yelp
The service is wonderful. The food is fantastic. The happy hour is great. The bar is always busy and the two meatballs are fantastic. I love the mushroom ravioli. I've had several dishes. They're great.

Yelp
The working team was in the mood for some Italian grub and Two Meatballs was the pick. When we got there, they informed us that they were having credit card issues and we had to pay cash. That was a quick check for cash we put together enough so in we go. We came in early so we got settled in quickly. The warm bread with the Italian seasonings is so yummy! You got to be careful you'll get full quick on that yummy bread. The service was very responsive. I had to have the Stromboli as it is one of my faves for Italian foods and I was so pleased that I did as it was so good it was cooked just right. The bottom had brown up nice so it was not soggy and was loaded with meat, cheese and plenty of sauce. Our service was so good at keeping our drinks toped off on a hot summer day.

Deborah D.

Yelp
Arriving from a cross country flight, we were looking for a decent meal to satisfy our "Biscoff cookie and beverage" hunger. Although the service was initially good, never once did our waitress ask how the food was. Perhaps it was obvious. A 16" veggie pizza - one slice eaten. A 12" meat pizza - one slice eaten. No, "How is your pie?" Let me tell you, the crust? Good! Best part of the pizza! The pizza itself. Meh. A 3 on a 1-10 scale. Worse than a slice at your local middle school. No flavor. How does that happen? Perhaps the older crowd dining prefers bland food, but the rest of us want FLAVOR! The second pie was also untouched. Same reason. I think the waitress knew. Why else would she avoid asking? I didn't eat the meatball. I cannot report on it, nor the linguine and clams except to say there were plenty of clams.
google avatar

Hugh B.

Yelp
Fun happy hour at the bar with low priced wine and basic cocktails. I ordered the clams in white sauce with linguine and for $3.99 extra a house salad. Served with garlic knots. Outstanding service with Olivia the barmaid. Very attentive and quick to refill your cocktail. But with no pressure. If you think you'll return join their loyalty program. This was my first visit to this location and had an enjoyable evening.

Yelp
Enjoyed dinner here (Ft Myers). They have 2 locations. This was our first time here. We went a little early (4:45pm) because we had a show to get to. It was about 50% full. The place is a lot bigger than I expected. There are 2 dining areas. We started with an appetizer special - Stuffed Zucchini Blossom. For my meal, I enjoyed the "House Favorite". I requested one meatball and one sausage with my Rigatoni. Excellent! My wife had the Alaina's Baked Pasta. The portions were huge. (I ate what my wife took home the next day -excellent). Recommend the place. Definitely will return.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening at 2 Meatballs in the Kitchen, Fort Myers. Amazing food paired with memorable wine. Grazie per una serata incredibile.
google avatar

Alexander G.

Yelp
Always a good meal and amazing service from our favorite server: Erika! This time I had the shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta. Very good!

Mary S.

Yelp
We had a reservation for Xmas eve. It went very smooth. Food was excellent as well as service!
google avatar

Travis L.

Yelp
Love coming here! Great atmosphere, and accommodating for take the kids as well. Service is always good. We love the garlic knots, Ginas favorite chicken and my new favorite Mama's pasta! Portion sizes are generous so you likely will leave with a box.

George S.

Yelp
had our car club reservation for 18 at 6pm. when arrived at 6pm was told out table was not ready. took them about 5 minutes to get it ready. we were split up with two tables. preferred a long table for all of the club to be together. i ordered the mushroom ravioli as my entree, taking the first bite the mushrooms were so stringy, i had to spit them out. every mushroom had hard fibers to try to chew through. i did not make a scene at the time, i should have. this is unacceptable when paying over $20.00 for a pasta dish. no order checkers to make sure that the orders are properly prepared. very, very disappointed, will not be returning to this restaurant.

Dominic S.

Yelp
We have been dining at two meatballs in the kitchen for 12 years the food is amazing!
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't know why anyone would complain about this place at all. We've been here 3 times and the food has always been excellent. The pizza is great and very reasonably priced. My wife got the chicken frachaise and it was the best she'd ever had. We love the atmosphere and the staff is always fun and welcoming.

Nina B.

Yelp
This could have been a negative review bc once we were seated, it took 20 minutes to have anyone come back and bring water. Then we had 5 servers approach to help us. The bruschetta was delicious, soup was excellent. Portions are large. My only complaint is that they should allow guests to order a side order of pasta or a half order.

Yelp
Came out to Two Meatballs in the Kitchen during Saturday prime time to celebrate a birthday! The restaurant had recently been renovated but I was not familiar with what it looked like prior. The interior overall was clean, had pretty aesthetics, and a fun waiting area. With the updates, the entire interior has hard surfaces which absorbs no noise. It definitely was a bit loud and at points, was hard to hear/have conversations. The restaurant does not take reservations but they do offer a yelp waitlist to join. We did not check in ahead and it was only a 25 minute wait; not bad! Once we were seated, one could tell the staff was hustling to keep up. The restaurant had food and drink specials outside of the normal menu. We started with a house white wine and strawberry basil martini. The martini had more basil flavor than I was expecting, but overall good. Dinner service comes with complimentary parmesan bread knots that were delicious! Perfect way to have something before entrees. I got the House Favorite with sausage, rigatoni, and subbed the sauce for vodka sauce; my aunt got the lasagna. I loved my pasta and it was the perfect size for leftovers! I've never been anywhere that offers (2) meatballs or sausages with an entree! Great value! Our server ended our night with some complimentary cannolis for the special celebration. I highly recommend trying out TMITK!

Heather A.

Yelp
Attempted to order a kids meal because I had weight loss surgery a year ago and wanted a smaller portion. Would not allow me to order a kids meal for myself or my 13 year old. Pasta does not reheat well and was a huge waste for me. The shrimp in my pasta was extremely hard and rubbery. The calamari smelled strongly like bad sea food. Ate there many times over three past 7 years and will not go back. Quality has went down hill and customer service is poor. Overpriced and poor quality.

Diane G.

Yelp
We brought two friends who had never been here before, and they were immediately impressed by the warm, welcoming ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Madison S.

Yelp
First time in the area and happened to find this place online. The (complimentary) garlic knots they bring out at the start of the meal are sooooo good. Nice and soft and COVERED in buttery garlicky deliciousness. The pasta dishes all sounded yummy, but I definitely recommend the Mama's Pasta. Huge portion and so much flavor! We had a great waitress and enjoyed the live music playing during our dinner. Definitely make a stop if you're in the area!
google avatar

Gerald S.

Yelp
Dropped in for lunch this afternoon. It was our first time here. Not bad at all. They were super busy, but didn't affect the service by Bethany. She definitely provided great customer service with a smile I had the meat lover's pizza , boy O boy it was delicious. So meaty. My wife had the pasta with meat ball , huge meat balls and last but not least , the lasagna was also delicious. Highly recommend this spot

Dwayne G.

Yelp
This restaurant was very loud, not really a place for a quiet dinner. You do get a lot of food but could use more seasoning . The noise is really off putting. Enough to make the experience not worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
It is 6:00 on a Friday night and I am stuffed from a delicious early dinner at Two Meatballs in the Kitchen. This is the first time we have dined in the restaurant since they re-opened after remodeling. And, it was hopping! When we walked out, every table was full and there were quite a few people waiting. Our meal tonight was great! I got my favorite pasta dish, Tortellini Maria (comes with shrimp and chicken in a creamy pesto sauce) and my spouse got his standard large pizza with meatballs, extra sauce and extra cheese. It definitely met his expectations. And those garlic knots sitting in olive oil and covered in Parmesan cheese...so good. The atmosphere was vibrant, the decor is crisp and clean and the mood was festive! Our waitress, Luz, took great care of us and an owner came by to check in with us. What's not to love?

Barb M.

Yelp
We loved it out first time there. Really good food all around and nice servers, will def go back. Very short wait, I think we went at 5.
google avatar

Martie G.

Yelp
It's interesting that we've eaten there several times for dinner and had great meals and really enjoyed it, but traveled all the way up from Naples for lunch and had a totally different experience. I don't know if this is year-round or just in the summer months, but it's a different Menu for lunch vs dinner and the options and quality of the food is lacking. I am gluten intolerant and found little or no options for me on my lunch menu.

Mary Jo B.

Yelp
We had a gathering of about 30 members of our family on Saturday, November 2. Our server was Kayla, who was very welcoming and efficient. The food came out of the kitchen in a very efficient manner and every dish was well presented and delicious. I would like to commend Kayla and the team for making our afternoon so enjoyable.

Ann M.

Yelp
Great wine tasting even. Food was fantastic and wine was too. Great service and menu has a nice variety of choices. Great happy hour too. Would recommend.

William G.

Yelp
We've eaten at this location several times and always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. This time we decided to try their pizza and it was awesome. Our server was great and made sure we had everything we needed and kept our waters filled without us asking for more. She was very pleasant and prompt. The restaurant is nicely decorated and well maintained. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and i ordered a red margarita pizza it came to our table white the waitress went to the kitchen and came back with pizza sauce in a bowl and said the kitchen was backed up i will never go to this place again
google avatar

Leslie B.

Yelp
We are Italians from NYC and rarely go for Italian food- it never measures up, and hubby's cooking is the best and usually a let-down. However, we went for happy hour- we were drawn in by the escargot and coconut shrimp. Drinks are very good and inexpensive. Beside the escargot and coconut shrimp, hubby ordered the eggplant stack and the meatballs. We got a large portion of escargot and they were amazing- especially paired with the complimentary garlic knots. The coconut shrimp was tender and delicious. My husband enjoyed the eggplant stack - moreso when it was hot from the kitchen. The meatballs- which are our biggest peeve usually, were HUGE, sooooooo tender and moist, just delicious. We absolutely will make the trip down when we are in Venice again- it's well worth it. Highly recommend

Yelp
I just picked up Veal Piccata at the start of the dinner shift. When I got home, these measly pieces of Veal were part of the dish. The Veal was dry and tasteless. When I called the manager, he would not stop talking long enough for me to answer the question if I want a refund or future voucher. When I asked him to stop talking so I can answer him, he got very upset. This place was just reopened after a long period of closure, maybe it should be still closed for better training
google avatar

Jenn S.

Yelp
YUM! The food is delicious and the portions are generous. Only negative is that it was LOUD, and hard to hear. But it was a Friday night and we were a large group, so we probably contributed to the volume. Our server was great - very funny & patient. I split the Mama's Meatballs & Rapini Napoletana, and then got the Pasta Fagioli. I could have devoured all 3 of those giant meatballs - they were DELICIOUS. The Rapini (broccoli rabe sauteed in EVOO with garlic, cherry tomatoes, cannellini beans and Italian sausage, served with crostini) was good, but not as flavorful as I expected. The soup was very tasty, but a bit different than standard Pasta Fagioli. The rolls come sitting in olive oil, so they are, of course, very tasty. Overall, I really enjoyed everything I tried, and would absolutely come back!

Tony G.

Yelp
We went with a group of 8 people on Saturday night. Unfortunately service was slow, giving benefit of doubt, new place, new servers. Food was not what we expected. Meatballs were rubbery and difficult to cut. I got eggplant parm, which was obviously frozen patties like hamburger size. Pretty tasteless. Not what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. Try using real eggplant. Sorry really tried to like it.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
The food and service is always good here but the place is so loud you can hardly have a conversation. To make matters worse they had a violinist there tonight making it even louder. He was good but too loud.

Linda C.

Yelp
Love their Meatball appetizer and garlic knots. Those are my favorite because I get those the most. Their food is good. The service, ambience and all around good Italian cuisine. It's a little pricey but isn't everything today!
google avatar

Giulia G.

Yelp
Best!! Staff are outstanding and accommodating. Food is excellent. And salads are amazing. My first choice eat out

Roz W.

Yelp
chicken was sooooo tough couldn't cut it with a knife. Manager tried it, took it off the bill.
google avatar

Livia W.

Yelp
Food, service, ambience all 5 star. We love this place. Portions, especially pasta dishes are enormous. The bread basket is fabulous, warm rolls basking in garlic butter. Lively and casual restaurants. Ft Myers location recently renovated. You can't go wrong here no matter what you order. Save room for outstanding desserts.

john m.

Yelp
Restaurant decor is outstanding and menu is extensive. Service was good however what ordered was marginal. My recommendations are do not order the salmon, overcooked, and take a pass on their ice tea. If you stick to Italian dishes and something else to drink, as I will do, I am confident it will meet expectations.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
I visited Two Meatballs a few weeks ago for the first time and it was better than I expected! The restaurant has recently been redone and looks very nice. It was super busy on a weeknight around 6:30pm. Luckily, we only waited about 10 minutes for our table. Their portions are huge, so you definitely get great value for what you order. I had the Pasta Fagioli and Sofia's Salad. I shared the House Favorite & Fettucini Ragu with my friends. They have a solid wine selection too. What stood out was the hospitality, Maya was our server and she was so wonderful. She's friendly and even though she was busy since the restaurant was packed she made sure we were taken care of. Thank you Maya and everyone at Two Meatballs!

Sharon S.

Yelp
Happy hour apps! Great eggplant parm! & garlic twists....service is great. We usually gather a group of foodies to go and enjoy a fun time here
google avatar

Flo V.

Yelp
Fort Myers location: This is our first time here. Thursday mid-day.... Not too crowded. Met up with friends for lunch. It had a nice Italian atmosphere inside. Cathy M. was our server..... What a fabulous attitude!! She gave us great advice about menu items when we had questions. Cathy was very attentive with service but not overbearing. My husband ordered a bowl of Pasta Fagioli.... Very tasty but the soup could have been warmer. We also ordered (to share) the meatball sandwich. Very tasty on that soft roll, but it too could have been warmer. It was large enough to share if your not super hungry. Our friends ordered the lasagna and the Mama's pasta with a delicious cream sauce. We were all tooooo full for dessert. Maybe next time !! We enjoyed our meal..... yes, we will stop again.
