"With four locations and a truck for special events, Two Roosters has quickly become a sweet tooth’s favorite in Raleigh. The brainchild of Jared Plummer, Two Roosters delivers a menu of permanent flavors and rotating guest flavors. The shop is also known for its delicious collaborations that support other local businesses. Sola cinnamon doughnut or coffee bourbon made with Slingshot Coffee are permanent menu items worth a try. Budget tip: The $8 pint is well-deserved after waiting in line." - Catherine Currin

Google
Delicious local ice cream tasted super rich and creamy. They have "guest" flavors each month and this month they were inspired by cereal. Don't eat corporate ice cream when you can have this instead!

Great service, friendly staff, delicious ice cream! We had blackberry Hibiscus, dark chocolate mint chunk, and cookies & cream. Highly recommend the Blackberry Hibiscus.

October 19, 2024 - Kudos to Granny! She’s mentioned in “Two Roosters Ice Cream”background story ❤️ Maybe at some point her photo will appear on the walls of the six store locations: Greystone Village, Raleigh Person Street , Raleigh Golden Belt, Durham Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh Wake Forest Watery Plaza, Cary * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Our posse of three stopped at the Ice Cream parlor at Person Street . . . Line was short, walked up and ordered the large milkshake, ( Only 1 size milkshake) strawberry 🍓 with chocolate hot fudge. Great thirst quencher on a sunny afternoon! My compatriots were satisfied with one scoop kiddie cups. (Watching their waste lines, I guess? ) The flavors were beyond the pedestrian coffee, mint chip , and vanilla of most ice cream places . . . Such as: Blackberry Hibiscus Sola Cinnamon Donut Sea Salt Chip Cookie Dough Coffee Bourbon Strawberry & Honey We all agreed, bold zesty flavors with fresh ingredients! I guess we’ll return and try new flavors as they rotate new ones each month. My research revealed local Channel 5 tv station WRAL -TV has awarded 2 Roosters four times with “ BEST Ice Cream” ! Also USA Today named 2 Roosters “ BEST ice cream” twice, in 2019 & 2023! Granny would be proud of owner Jared Plummer ! Thanks for quality ice cream in the Triangle area !😃👍🏼👍🏼 Suggestion: Let’s get Granny up on the wall, and add outdoor seating at your Person Street location , if possible? Note: Some ice cream flavors made with wheat, therefore not Gluten Free. Also some flavors have nuts, would be helpful if flavors labeled for customers with allergies?

Google
The ice cream here is delicious and creamy and the flavors are really unique! There are picnic tables right out front, which is very convenient, as well as indoor seating. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Ajimon Thomas

Google
First time here. The staff were very friendly. Tried a scoop of the double folded Vanilla and a scoop of the classic chocolate. As an ice cream lover, both flavors tasted just okay to me.

Caitlin Kestell

Google
This place has great staff who offer samples to every customer. They have a rotating flavor menu so there’s always something new. They have lovely outdoor seating. There is usually a line but it goes quickly. Unfortunately the ice cream itself is not very good. On the multiple occasions I’ve been here, I’ve only liked my ice cream once. I often find the flavors to be bland. Or they are trying new combinations of flavors that really don’t work. Sadly I will not be coming back because the ice cream is so disappointing.

Matthew Nickerson

Google
Easily the family's favorite ice cream shop. The staff is friendly and the both the standard flavors and the guests flavors are delicious. The dairy and gluten free flavors are also top quality and delicious! We especially love their events like the recent ice cream food truck rodeo.

Meggie Mangione

Google
Delicious dairy free ice cream options! I loved the dairy free Christmas cookie flavor which is seasonal! (Also gluten free cookie!) Kiddo enjoyed the dark chocolate mint flavor!!

Yelp
This ice cream spot is in a strip mall and the joint is super nice and very clean. It's very friendly and there, they come and talk to you when you get to the counter, and let you taste samples, is everything you would need from an ice cream spot. They have a lot of extra flavors so nothing is going to be just basic chocolate and vanilla. Which I really liked and appreciated. Sea salt Cookie dough - I got this on a cone, and it had the right amount of sweet in salty to really set it off for me. They packed that one scoop in the comb to the brim so they make sure you get your money's worth! I really liked that. I would definitely try some more flavors for the next time I'm in the area, especially because the flavors seem to be very unique and changed often enough to I would not be disappointed because I'd be getting something new every time.

Sophia S.

Yelp
Awesome service! The ice cream is THE BEST! Definitely recommending this place to my friends!

Ginger G.

Yelp
I was on the road for work and wanted some ice cream. I drove by this place and because of the location and other restaurant nearby there was no nearby parking in their lot. They would benefit from 5 min parking spots so you can run in and out. I forced stoubd the block and found parking a block away. I will say that the cream was delicious! Definitely a win despite the parking situation. However, I can see where they are flooding business as many would bypass if you didn't know how good their cream is. I opted for a waffle bowl with their coffee ice cream. Looking at this picture I want to go back. Their waffle bowl was to die for! The perfect amount of vanilla and sweetness.

Jessica M.

Yelp
This ice cream spot is to die for! Literally every bite had me screaming inside.. in a good way of course!! Please please order the earl gray lemon cookie dough, cinnamon donut, strawberry honey, and cookies and cream. There is LITERALLY no flavor that will disappoint you here. The line does get long to the point where you'll be waiting outside the door, but it's wellll worth the wait. Everything is fresh, creamy, and literally brings happy tears to my eyes with every bite I take. I had to come here TWICE while visiting. They offer indoor seating which is nice especially during these swamp ass seasons. Love you two roosters, thank you for making my heart whole with every bite.

Stacy P.

Yelp
First time here so we got the Flight and selected 6 flavors. We picked chocolate, vanilla, cookies and cream, strawberry honey, dairy free chocolate, and dairy free cookies and cream. Clearly we just dove in before I could take a pic. Out of the flight, the kids favorite was strawberry honey, cookies and cream (both versions) and vanilla. I also ordered the bourbon coffee flavor. So good. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Warmer weather means long lines, so be prepared. They do have a peanut butter flavor ice cream, so those with allergies be sure to let them know. They had no problem taking extra time to prepare our flight.

Priyanka B.

Yelp
Found this place last minute and so glad we did! The ice cream was so creamy and there were very unique flavors. The staff was very friendly. Can't wait to come back to try new rotating flavors!

Yanina C.

Yelp
I love Two Roosters. I also love how active they are on social media and how much they do for the community. I always keep and eye out for new flavors. Gotta say I want them to bring back the Cookies and Coffee more often cause I love it!!

Sahib G.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Two Roosters Ice Cream. My go to is the Roasted Strawberry honey flavor. The best part is that it's not super sweet or heavy like at other places. They also have a rotating list of guest flavors that are always unique and worth trying. This time I got the Bourbon Caramel Cookie and the Dark Chocolate Raspberry flavors from the guest flavors. The Bourbon Caramel cookie might be my new favorite. But if you can't decide on a flavor, they also offer a flight option where you can choose multiple flavors to try.

Jillian S.

Yelp
Decent place for a scoop of flavorful ice cream. Portion size is smaller and flavors are not as strong as comparable ice cream shops. You can sample two flavors per visit. I have been to their Lead Mine location in the past. While driving through downtown we realized they opened a location in downtown Raleigh off Mordecai Drive. Getting to this location was inconvenient. Lots of street lights on the way, traffic, and limited parking. I recommend their other locations if you aren't already downtown. Two Roosters is located in a small plaza with a few other stores/restaurants. The plaza has a parking lot that fills up quickly. A few picnic tables are located outside Two Roosters for outdoor dining. This area is dog friendly. We ordered 2 scoops coffee bourbon in a waffle bowl and 1 scoop sea salt cookie dough with one scoop dark chocolate mint also in a waffle bowl. The waffle bowl was large and delicious. The scoops seemed small. Not sure if it was more of the size of the waffle bowl or the comparison to other local ice cream shops. The cup holding the waffle bowl was also small and did not properly hold the waffle or prevent the ice cream from leaking. The price was a bit steep ($14 total) for what we received. The ice cream was delicious. Very creamy with good, mild flavor. Personally I do prefer stronger flavors and more chunks (e.g. cookie dough, mint chips, etc.). We both left satisfied and recommend this ice cream shop to others!

Kelly S.

Yelp
One of my kid's favorite ice cream places, friendly staff and great iced cream flavors

Dawn C.

Yelp
Solid non-dairy, vegan ice cream choices! Cute shop with quick service. Good seating options. I tried the non-dairy key lime pie with gluten-free ginger cookies. It was a solid okay. I got 2 scoops but really only needed one. I wish I could have tried a sample. I could have made a better choice between the 3 non-dairy options available. They use a coconut milk base and list all the ingredients. Parking is always right in this parking lot but it was easy in and out.

Becky H.

Yelp
We were visiting today and wanted to finish the day with a little ice cream. Two Roosters popped up in our search and we are very glad it did. The quality is very good and they had some nice flavors. I see there are a few locations so it's great to see the community celebrating the brand. The line out the door for scoops is a sure sign this one is a winner!

Kate L.

Yelp
Great service. A little pricey but they have a few vegan flavors consistently so good option for all.

Kenisha R.

Yelp
This is my first time and I am excited to say it will. It be my last. The entrance is minimal and sleek. The freshest ice cream I had honey and strawberries it was amazing you could taste the honey My family loved it and I know yours will love fresh creamy homemade ice cream just go here.

Che - Che H.

Yelp
The ice cream flavors are some of the best around. And the bonus.... they are so yummy! I have tried many different flavors. Great local spot off Franklin Street with some of the best ice cream. Now if we could just get a little diversity in the environment that would be amazing.

Tracy D.

Yelp
$15 dollars for a shake and a single scoop for sub-par ice cream. Not much else to say except we need better options in the Raleigh area. Charlotte has Golden Cow in case you happen to be in the area. It's fantastic. There's nothing comparable here.

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Ate this so fast I didn't snap a photo. Friday night expect a line but it moved quick. We tried the cookies and cream which was loaded with cookies! Then I got the strawberry honey because they said the strawberries are fresh and local - delicious. Would come back, great neighborhood spot!

Bobbie C.

Yelp
Two roosters is always delicious! They have multiple locations and I love that they rotate flavors every month but also have their standard flavors that you can always enjoy. I treat myself to a kids sugar cone from time to time and it's such a great treat for a small price tag.

Heather B.

Yelp
So glad we got to stop in here today! They are very organized and have the service set up very Covid-oriented. Order at door, contactless pay and they call your name and you are on your way to yummy ice cream. I grabbed a two scoop cup with red velvet and hummingbird cake (so good!). $5 out the door. Quick service, great location. Parking is a mess. Very few spots for the crowd and the spots are skinnnnyyyy. Worth stopping by, hopefully you can grab a parking spot!

John B.

Yelp
No walking it at this point. Indeed, they won't even come near you as the card reader is set up at the door and the people inside are some distance away. The parking lot is tiny and I had to park elsewhere. The ice cream flavors included intriguing seasonal entries, so I sampled a vegan cherry cordial and a mint flavor with cookies in it. Both were excellent; you could certainly tell the difference between the dairy and non-dairy flavors, but the latter was still creamy and didn't taste overly of coconut. The cookies made an interesting diversion from the usual mint. Premium ice cream at a premium price (and with no option to do smaller samples of more flavors), but well-done.

Kierstyn M.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! I walked up and they had blocked off the entrance dur to covid but they are doing a wonderful job handling orders and covid at the same time. The gentleman who took the order was friendly and patient as we look at what we wanted. I ordered the Dunkaroo flavor because I became extremely excited when I saw it. It was nice and creamy and flavorful. Tasted just like dunkaroos did! I was slapped in the face with nostalgia. I can't remember what my sister ordered but it was just as flavorful. Had a nice after taste to it. Great little ice cream shop!

Saloni T.

Yelp
What I love most about two roosters is their monthly specials! Last month they had rum and pound cake and I regret buying a pint. This months flavors are created by home chefs. I look forward to trying them all. What you see in this pic is chocolate Oreo and cookie dough ice cream and under it is a scoop of goey buttercake. My mind is blown. Goey buttercake is EXCEPTIONAL. Covid precautions - you're not allowed into the store. Place your order at the door and

Anon A.

Yelp
I'm not personally a fan because I like my ice cream simple, and the flavors are not simple. There isn't really regular vanilla or chocolate that you can add toppings/syrup to, it all comes pre mixed. That said it's good quality.

Hishaam R.

Yelp
My friend loves this place so we went after dinner. I had tasted the ice cream once in pints, but this was my first time visiting the place. The place is somewhat small and line was to the door, probably because it was a Saturday. The workers were extremely nice and offering samples. I got the banana pudding flavor after trying the sample. Didn't bother trying another sample because it was so good. I got one scoop in a cup. I also tried the strawberry honey and blackberry hibiscus, which were amazing. I love that their ice cream isn't overly sweet, but very flavorful, so you can tell it's well made. They have very modern and exotic flavors too, not just your the same old vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I love that they bring new flavors every month too. Next time I'm around in the area, I'll be back.

Dave C.

Yelp
Great ice cream, decent line, 2 samples per customer. Will be back.......................................................

Steve S.

Yelp
Has dairy free but wasn't a great choice and I didn't like the one they offered. Everyone enjoyed the dairy ice cream and it was very busy.

Brittany E.

Yelp
Pretty decent ice cream. Would've liked it to be more creamy. But would visit again in the future.

Shannon D.

Yelp
Had the two roosters/cha house ice cream collab. The Ube and Thai ice cream were amazing!!! Also tried cookie dough and double foam vanilla and were so good. Will definitely be trying more flavors

Sarah K.

Yelp
Coming from Los Angeles area, I am on the hunt for some high-quality ice cream. After so many recommendations, I finally tried Two Roosters. For a kid's scoop, it's $4 and sufficient for me. The servers behind the counter were friendly and patient as they helped me taste all the flavors I wanted before making my choice. I was sad to hear that they were out of their chocolate bourbon pecan pie (a rotating flavor), because it sounded amazing and it was one of the server's favorites. I settled for the coffee bourbon, and enjoyed my little treat on a weekend afternoon. It's not overpowering and wished it had a greater punch in flavor, but I enjoyed for what it was too.

Seema S.

Yelp
What more do I ask for on a hot hot summer day in Raleigh! We were visiting from Charlotte and randomly chanced upon this place. We tried the Blackberry Hibiscus shake and Coffee burbon. We literally licked our way to the bottom. That should tell you about the taste! What a blessing during summer!

Kristen C.

Yelp
Rivals national brands like Jennis. I actually prefer 2 roosters over The jennis in Durham! My go to spot to bring guests, or just when the craving hits. :))

Ron W.

Yelp
If I'm in the mood for ice cream, Two Roosters is usually my first choice! While I'm a bit lactose-intolerant, sometimes you just need a creamy, cold treat in a cone. And Two Roosters does ice cream right offering up an array of standard flavors along with some cool, guest flavors. The guest flavors can get pretty odd, they have even done pizza ice cream. And during my last visit, they had flavors inspired by local Raleigh chefs (Ashley C and Cheetie K) so I like that they dabble a bit. Service at Two Roosters is fine, it's a small space and they get you through the line quickly. I prefer the Lead Mine location a bit more since it seems more established but that is a LONG ride for me. So cheers to Two Roosters and their great ice cream...

James M.

Yelp
This place serves VERY good ice cream. Lots of interesting flavors. But it's very popular, so you might just be prepared to stand in line for a while.

Liz M.

Yelp
Took my son on a date, no date is complete without ice cream!! We had a great time, atmosphere was good and ice cream was creamy and delicious! Definitely will go back!

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
The ice cream here is great. The only think I wish they would change is their sample policy. No samples is very annoying, because people want to try things before the commit to a bowl of it.

Julien N.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream, lots of flavor good quality doesn't melt right away. Variety of choices will be coming back!!

Rama M.

Yelp
This place is right next to the wine authority which I reviewed already. I have seen many families lingering at this little strip mall and with picnic c tables in parking spots. Thought it must be really good. I went there and got a scoop of roasted strawberry. Be careful their scoop is two average scoops. It was a sacrifice but I bared it as best as I could. SOOOOOO creamy, and the roasted strawberry flavor is exquisite! I mean exquisite - i could taste the strawberries and the roasted flavor.! I have had my share of ice cream and Gelato all around the world. This ice cream reminds me of the Swedish ice cream - from those organic Swedish cows when I was in my early twenties visiting my boyfriend in Gothenburg Sweden. .so creamy and so flavorful. I am in trouble since it is my favorite food of all times. Hehe. Enjoy!

BJ L.

Yelp
Went to get ice cream - it was 8:45pm and they close at 9pm. The servers were extremely rude, and seemed visibly annoyed that we even walked in the door. When we asked about certain flavors, the girl helping us was short and fresh! If I were the owner they would have all been fired. Literally threw us out along with a mom and small boy who had been sitting eating their ice cream at the table. After going through a pandemic and not being able to interact with people, work, and be productive, the attitude of these young people left little to be desired! Needless to say, we won't be back. They're not the only game in town! Note to owner, know who your workers are! It's detrimental to your business! I wish I could leave ZERO STARS!

Gina L.

Yelp
Really great experience here. I love the unique flavors, the service was friendly and efficient, and the ice cream itself was pretty good. My biggest complaint is that I went on a Sunday night and less than half of the flavors were available. I'd like to come back and try some other flavors soon!

Kennedy W.

Yelp
I've had a LOT of ice cream in my life, but Two Roosters is by far my favorite. My fiancée and I have made a summer habit of coming here in the evenings for both single scoops to enjoy in the car and for pints to take home. We're working our way through the menu. As of writing this, we both agree that the real star on the menu is "Roasted Strawberry and Honey". As for July's guest flavors, I'm partial towards "Key Lime and Ginger Snaps", while she loves "Earl Grey and Lemon Cookie Dough", which is reminiscent of a London Fog. At $4 for a kid's scoop, $5 for a very generous single scoop, and $8 for a densely packed pint, Two Roosters is an affordable luxury. They knock classic and gourmet, experimental flavors out of the park, and do so while providing an excellent customer service experience. As for Coronavirus accommodations, the dining room is closed, the staff wears masks, the front door is propped open so that you don't have to touch it, and they're doing contactless payment. You can even place your order online and do curbside pickup. Two Roosters, two thumbs up.

Amanduh P.

Yelp
Yummy ice cream! It's real ice cream. Scoops could be slightly larger for the increased price.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Delicious! Love that it's from grass fed cows. Peanut butter cup ice cream was soooo good. And a small cup is quite sizable.

Danielle O.

Yelp
We came here after standard beer and food and it was delicious! My partner and his friend got the cookie dough one, thin mint and the cinnamon doughnut and they enjoyed a lot with the waffle cones too. I got the two non dairy flavors with waffle cone, the chocolate and strawberry. I enjoyed the flavor or the strawberry a lot more but the chocolate tasted better when mixed with the strawberry. If I was only getting one flavor, I'd probably just do the strawberry. They put your scoops on a cup and the cone on top. I prefer just the cone, honestly so I flipped it out but I couldn't put the chocolate on top with one hand. My partner and his friend struggled to flip theirs out without breaking their cone. Don't get me wrong, it was all still very enjoyable! Just letting you know our struggles as well, hahaha. Delicious flavors, will be back.

Jeannine B.

Yelp
I found Two Roosters several years ago when I first moved here and couldn't be more excited to have a safe place to take my son who has severe and multiple food allergies. I come often. At times more than once per week. I come from Garner/Clayton. Today I came in excited to try the new non dairy flavor of the month and came in contact with a newer worker (never saw her before) and when I told her about my son's allergies and gave his order she looked at me with such a disgusted face like my son was an inconvenience. It was super rude and obnoxious and unnecessary. My husband attempted to make light of the situation and was met with the same attitude. Honestly as long as she's employed I probably won't come back. I'm really disappointed at my experience and I will not be a patron at a place that makes me feel like that. It's hard enough being a parent of a child with allergies. It's a shame because the ice cream is awesome!

Marin J.

Yelp
This is their newer location. I like their flavors. But sometimes a bit toooo sweet. The best ever flavor, IMHO was a guest flavor by a little kid...it was brownies with coffee ice crem and the balance of coffee ,brownie and brownie texture was on point. I wish it was a regular. Now smarty pants...before you raise up and try to school me...I know they have a slingshot coffee on the regular but I'm not feelin' it. Not enough coffee flavor for my liking. Sleeper note: Lots of people like the hibiscus once they try it, but because it is pink and a bit odd to think you are eating flowers......it might get passed by. But if they can make hibiscus tea, then ice cream should not be that much of a stretch for your tastebuds. Plus, Hibiscus is good for you and all that.....so.....ice cream is..... good for you!

Iris C.

Yelp
It's a 1 out of 4! That's the family's rating and after waiting 30 mins I can say we won't be back. Ordered two Jack's Brownie and Fudge, Coffee Bourbon, and a Grady's Caramel Crunch Bar. What I received? Four Jack's Brownie and Fudge. After waiting for so long I hesitated going back but I was really looking forward to mine! Ok, order fixed and we start eating. Oh it was disappointing! Of course, you know I have to try them all! Jack's Brownie and Fudge - did not have any fudge and the brownie part was not flavorful enough to add to the vanilla ice cream. Coffee Bourbon - what coffee? I did taste the bourbon flavor and I was thinking that if this would have been vanilla and pecans it would have been amazing. As it was it was not worth the addition to my ice cream obsession rotation. This is more like, let's forget I tried it.

Briana H. K.

Yelp
The owner taught us so much about ice cream and the different between the large companies and the local, home made ice cream. The prices are not too steep. Some people may think that $5 is a lot; however, when you are getting REAL ice cream, made from scratch and it's fresh - meaning that is hasn't been sitting in a freezer for 6months - it's actually a pretty great deal. I love when business can be transparent with their customers. I have a better understanding in what goes into real ice cream. It also is amazing that they have 4 dairy free options plus a few gluten free options. This place is for me :-)

Samantha C.

Yelp
The best ice cream I've ever had ! Love the wild berry poptart The people working there were really awesome. I liked that there was a bar to sit and eat further away from the other tables. Also.. the bathrooms were really clean so that's always cool.

Deleine C.

Yelp
Sweet treats and smiles. Two roosters is a to the point, small froo-froo ice cream spot. They have a small selection of flavor but there's something for everyone and the combinations are thoughtful and creamy. True to my soul, ice cream is required to be eaten in a waffle cone, which I then filled with their delightfully fruity blackberry hibiscus and well textured banana pudding ice creams. Yum!

Matt V.

Yelp
So here's the deal, by far and away they have the best ice cream in the world. Hands down. And they always rotate new flavors in that are really unique and creative (e.g. mocktail series for June). So if you're in the mood for ice cream, look no further. Personally cookies n cream is a staple in my book. But what I don't get (and it's just during these COVID times) is why it takes 12 mins to deliver a double scoop of ice cream after ordering. (Note: I will revisit this review in 6 months)
