Two Roosters Ice Cream

Google
Such a fun spot to treat yourself! You can have your ice cream just the way you like it, with tons of mix-and-match options and featured flavors that change often. Watching them make the waffle cones in house is a cool bonus. While the interior is small, the large outdoor patio gives you plenty of space to relax and enjoy. Whether you’re sticking with a classic scoop or getting creative with the cartons, the options are endless!

Google
Two Roosters has the best ice cream in the Triangle! Their blackberry hibiscus flavor is my favorite ice cream of all time, but is rivaled by unique monthly offerings. Their staff is also always extremely warm (not so much that the ice cream melts) and welcoming. I got 9 of my 24 stickers for 2025 Holiday Bingo from Clare at the Greystone Village location on Lead Mine Road AND ran into the owner Jared all in the same day! Definitely a favorite Two Roosters memory added to the roster. 🐓🐓

Google
I always say that the employees are the ones that make the difference in all kind of business and Two Roosters Ice Cream off from Lead Mine Rd is the perfect example. My wife and I I went to eat dinner to the restaurant near by we stopped to get 3 pints of ice cream. The employees were so friendly, attentive and polite, they took care of us really fast and answered all of our questions. If you are in Raleigh, NC definitely stop by and try THE BEST ICREAM in town, period

Megan P.

Google
The best ice cream in North Carolina! My husband and I love Two Roosters, the staff are always friendly & the merchandise is great too. We love their rotating guest flavors, especially when it includes chocolate, brownies, or cookie dough! Jared the owner is so nice & remembers us even when we run into him randomly around town. We even had the opportunity to meet Jaccob Slavin from the Carolina Hurricanes when Two Roosters hosted a meet and greet. If you stop by I suggest getting a milkshake and adding in sprinkles or a flight so you can try up to six flavors!

Rajib M.

Google
The ice cream is ok, nothing special. However, the customer service is VERY poor. The girl at the register was super rude! We had a big group (7 people there with 3 little kids)! She kept pressuring us to make an order by asking if we wanted anything else while we were deciding/discussing options for kids between ourselves. My wife was requesting samples for the kids and the girls at the register made a big deal saying she can only order two samples, while my wife was clearly getting sample for the 3 kids (and she didn’t order more than 6 samples anyway). We will certainly NOT be returning to this place!

Google
Stopped by for a tiny scoop after enjoying some sushi. We sampled a few of the flavors before making a decision. We got the Horchata Oreo and Coffee Bourbon, absolutely delicious.

Christopher S.

Google
Terrrrrrible price for the amount given. We paid $6 for two child size scoops claiming to be adult size. The flavors aren't bad. But you're telling me for 2 child size scoops it's ok to charge $6? My business means nothing if I go or don't go, this hipster pricing for somewhat decent food for small portions needs to end. Again I know you don't care and nothing will change. Good day.

William R.

Google
Excellent ice cream, locally made. Great flavors, esp during the holidays
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Love these guys!! The quality and the service are always top notch! The quality of the ice cream is also fantastic.

Yelp
Stopped by Two Roosters Ice Cream for a little pick-me-up! I got a medium cup with two scoops: one Coffee Bourbon and one Cookie Monster. The Coffee Bourbon was smooth, flavorful, and light, while the Cookie Monster was rich, fudgey, and full of Oreo goodness. If you ask me the perfect combo. The young lady behind the counter even suggested mixing the two since one's light and the other's heavy, and she was totally right! Great balance, great flavor, and great service. They've got plenty of flavors, fun specials, cones or cups, and reasonable prices.

Yelp
Two Roosters Ice Cream is located in Greystone Village Shopping Center in North Raleigh. The shopping center has plenty of parking. They have some indoor seating but most is outside at the benches. Ordering is done at the counter and the line is sometimes out the door. Menus are posted at the door, on the big board hanging from the ceiling and on the counter. Service is generally friendly and helpful. Two Roosters has a regular menu that mostly stays the same. They have made a few changes or tweaks over the years. Then a Guest menu that has new flavors each month. I tend to go with the guest menu. The ice cream is sold in cups, cones, waffle cones, milkshakes, sundaes and pints. They even let you combine two flavors and offer samples too. On my last visit, I got the watermelon sour patch sorbet. I just loved it as it was unique. I liked the peanut butter mud pie too but didn't think those would combine well. So I will need to go back for that flavor. The prices are reasonable and there is a rewards club.

Yelp
Claire is amazing at Lead Mine! Always has a smile on her face even with lines out the door in the summer months.
google avatar

Kellie D.

Yelp
It is just amazing how popular this place is. There was a line out the door on an October weeknight! However, service is fast and friendly and the line moves quickly. I ordered the Strawberry Honey, large because that is the most bang for your buck. Husband ordered one of the fall flavors, the Apple Pie Bar. The flavor of the Strawberry Honey was fantastic, almost had a cheesecake like taste. However I didn't love the "iciness" of it. Maybe it was the strawberries that were frozen more solid? Husband loved his. We sat at the bar and watched the teenage employees working hard! They get an arm workout filling the pints to go. There were also a few tables inside and many out. I'm glad this place is doing so well. Definitely a fun spot to have in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
High end ice cream shop in a quiet strip mall in North Raleigh. They specialize in very creative flavors served in classic cone or cup. They feature a regular menu of flavors with rotational seasonal flavors as well. Lots of choices. My Coffee Bourbon was very good, tho much more mildly flavored than the name implies. Very enjoyable. If you're in the area and up for something new, they're definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
Good luck with parking, but that's Lake Boone Trail, I guess. They have some nice merch inside with t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc. Even at 9 pm on a Sunday night, there was a long line, maybe 10-12 people. Credit to the staff, they handles it very well. I sampled the Sola cinnamon donut and the vanilla flavors. I didn't even know what Sola was, I've only lived here one month, but I'll be trying their shop very soon. I got my flavors in their waffle cone, and wow! I have had too many waffle cones that taste generic and stale. This one was warm, like it had just come right off the iron! The cost was $13.00 for two single cones, though a single does include two scoops. Not bad for such good quality!

Jane Currin C.

Yelp
Awesome ice cream and customer service. Love the rotating guest flavors and the regulars!
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
Stopped in here and tried two flavors: the cookies and cream and the Appalachian Cake flavor to support Hurricane Helene efforts. Both were amazing and I'd definitely return!
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Stopped in one evening and had a great experience! I tried: + Chocolate chip cookie dough + Ube coconut + Pistachio baklava + Chocolate mint chunk + Nainamo bar The chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate mint chunk were my favorite flavors, though all of them were fantastic. They also have lots of seating outside!

Yelp
Hearing the news that Wake Forest is getting a Two Roosters (summer 2023) prompted me to finally go to this location. I love ice cream and this store just draws you in with its simple but fun color scheme. The use of local flavors such as Slingshot coffee and Solas amazing mini cinnamon donuts is a huge draw as well. I did go for the Slingshot coffee bourbon and it was very good. The ice cream is thick and rich. It almost reminded me of frozen custard. My husband got the Sola cinnamon donut ice cream and it rivaled my choice, perhaps surpassed it. Other flavors I'd like to try include roasted strawberry & honey, hibiscus, guest flavor of Mexican hot chocolate. The flavors are unique without being too far out there. There's a small bench inside, so not much room to hang out, but lots of outdoor benches and tables. We went right as they opened at 2pm on a Saturday and good thing I got in line right away - a crowd followed! I did visit on December 31st so I'm sure many families were out heaving fun like us. But a popular spot nonetheless.

Chris A.

Yelp
Milk shake was more milk than shake. For $9 I hoped it would be thick. It wasn't. Put some effort into the shake or take it off the menu.
google avatar

Markisha D.

Yelp
This is my favorite ice cream spottttttt. They are minute from my house & their ice cream is made in house! They have their classics & then they have seasonal favorites. They are always packed & the prices are reasonable. Milkshakes & ice cream are just top tier! They even have cute lil spots outside where you can enjoy your ice cream. The inside is too small to eat in. They give samples if you ask & the ice cream is really good. The flavors change often so give them a try. They have some fancy flavors that are good & interesting

Yelp
The most amazing ice cream we've ever had! My husband and I love this ice cream so much, we skipped the wedding cake and had their ice cream at our wedding! Everything is always so fresh. You can't beat their menu, and their rotating monthly menus are always unique and tasty. The staff at every location is always friendly and attentive to questions. When we were planning our catering for the wedding we were able to do a tasting of all of the flavors, YUM! It was so fun to get to know more about the flavors and select the ones we wanted for our big day. They have multiple options for catering events, depending on the amount of people. We can't wait to have them again at future events like birthdays, reunions, and other weddings. They were a big hit and the perfect sweet treat!

Allison M.

Yelp
They changed gloves and got my ice cream out of a new tub when I told them I had a gluten allergy!

Yelp
Happy #ThankYouThursday and THANK YOU Two Roosters for being a locally owned business that very clearly and genuinely cares about keeping their staff and customers safe during COVID-19. I stopped by just last night for a couple of pints with my partner and we were shocked (in the best way possible) by the measures they have in place to ensure that social distancing is enforced and that COVID safety is a priority. Sorry, no samples! Employees wearing gloves. Employees wearing their face coverings ~properly~. They don't let anyone inside and have a long table propped against the door (see photo) so that it distances the staff and the guests. After you order at the door, pay, and TIP- simply wait for your name to be called, receive your sweet treats, and enjoy. It's so simple and convenient! I also believe they have mobile ordering available. I chose one of their seasonal Fall flavors, the Mississippi Mud Pie, and my boyfriend decided to go with a classic Cookies & Cream. Both were new flavors to us and we really enjoyed them! Our favorite was by far the Mississippi Mud Pie. It's. SO. GOOD. The Cookies & Cream was also good and had a lot of cookie pieces but it was nothing compared to the Oreo pie crust and cocoa ganache in the Mud Pie flavor. I could have eaten the whole pint in one sitting... it was that good! I can't wait to come back again because I'm really interested in their nondairy options. Two Roosters is located in a really convenient location near Gonza Tacos and the Food Lion. There's ample parking available as well. I wish I had come here more often over the last few months now that I know the effort they're putting in to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. Time to make up for lost time!

Amanda C.

Yelp
Two Roosters ice cream flavors are next level. They have rotating flavors and then a handful of flavors they always have. We tried one of the rotating flavors (lemon with strawberry jam) it was amazing! All the other flavors also looked great - definitely plan to go back and try more!
google avatar

Beth R.

Yelp
Our family loved Two Roosters! Fun atmosphere with amazing flavors. Extremely generous portions!

Skylar C.

Yelp
I was wicked excited to try this place because I LOVE ice cream and was given a gift card for Christmas for here. Sadly the ice cream was honestly not good, it tasted freezer burnt, and the whipped cream and sprinkles were poorly put on the ice cream (and I paid extra for them). The hype wasn't worth it, unfortunately. Maybe I'll try again and it'll be better?

Kate E.

Yelp
Quaint local ice cream shop. Family friendly location with tons of outdoor seating. A great neighborhood feel.
google avatar

Shelby G.

Yelp
Two Roosters is so good! I was really shocked with how cool and unique their flavors are and had a hard time picking one! (Guess it means I'll just have to go back for more soon!) We got the Girl Scout mint and the cookies n cream. Both were delicious. The vibe is also really cool. It's right next to high wire and has a nice outdoorsy space for you to hang out and enjoy your ice cream, so it's not like just sitting in a parking lot. You'll enjoy it if you go!
google avatar

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
They had a wonderful selection of delicious ice cream and it was a wonderful evening out on the dog friendly lawn enjoying the nice weather and music!
google avatar

Rabia A.

Yelp
I actually didn't take any pictures of my ice cream! So they have a table blocking the inside and people standing at the door which we have to open to order. Doesn't really make sense. I get they're trying to social distance but all of us have to open the door and have the door lean on us. Just not very "safe" I guess. As far as the ice cream, it was not that good. I mean it was okay. Definitely have found Better places to go. Probably will not be coming back here.
google avatar

Lena L.

Yelp
Whoa the spicy peanut butter ice cream is legit spicy! Yummy but it kind of smells like sewer in here.
google avatar

Amanda I.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of ice cream shops that feature unique and tantalizing flavor options. Two Roosters fits that bill. Their flavors feature local ingredients from other small businesses in Raleigh and they all sound incredible. The worst part about coming here is that I could not try all the flavors! (Though to be fair, that was a personal choice.) I decided to try the blackberry hibiscus flavor and absolutely loved it. It is made from blackberry hibiscus tea produced by a local tea shop. Two Roosters managed to capture the fruity flavor while still ensuring it tasted like ice cream, full of creamy goodness. My husband ordered a sola cinnamon donut milkshake and it was also superb. I had to resist from consuming the entire thing on his behalf. I also had a bite of the sea salt chocolate chip cookie dough. My biggest gripe with cookie dough ice cream is that the chunks of cookie dough can become rock hard when frozen. But these cookie chunks were soft and delightful. The salt was barely present and added the perfect flavor enhancing touch. Due to COVID-19, the shop has moved all of their ordering outdoors. A full menu with detailed information on what is in each flavor is displayed outside. The setup allows for staff to remain more than six feet away from you as you order and they encourage spacing between guests as well. Pickup is located away from the ordering location, making it easy to avoid other people. I felt very safe visiting. Though Two Roosters is not THE best ice cream I have ever had, it is certainly a favorite of mine in the Raleigh area. If you are around and looking for a way to indulge your sweet tooth, look no further!

Yelp
I love this place. I subscribed to their email list while I was in there and I deffffinitely recommend it. They send regular updates on their locations (new location in Durham just opened!) as well as the monthly flavor changes. I love that they use other local businesses' ingredients in their ice cream -- it's such a cool way to highlight other places in the area. Each month they do a theme for their ice cream flavors but it's still a great variety, plus a non-dairy option! I got the Sola cinnamon donut flavor in a waffle cone (rotating flavor). It was delicious... if you love cinnamon, donuts, or anything like that you'd love it. The ice cream had a great texture, despite having donut chunks. I was really impressed. Plus, Sola is right in the same shopping center, which is a cool connection! This is absolutely one of my favorite ice cream shops in the Triangle. Definitely stop in if you're nearby!
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
I met Jared & Kelsey at a music event in Raleigh, back in 2016, when they just had the truck & "camper." Then I would see Jared at the pop up stand at the Durham Bulls games. So I was THRILLED when they announced they were opening up a brick & mortar shop! Too bad I moved from Raleigh. :( However, on a recent trip back to visit, I stopped in the shop. TOO cute! While the shop is small, it does provide the most important thing: ice cream! So many flavors, it was hard to choose, but I went with my regular, blackberry hibiscus, with the yummy waffle cone. So creamy & delicious! The sweet girl that got my ice cream & checked me out was friendly. Great, unique flavors!

Carolyn D.

Yelp
2 Roosters is one of few places in Raleigh that offer home-made ice cream. You will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Puja P.

Yelp
Absolutely love their ice cream!! It's so delicious. I appreciate as someone that is gluten free that they list ingredients for their flavors on their menus, including the seasonal flavors. Will definitely be back. I got the strawberry & honey flavor and loved it
google avatar

Alexandra H.

Yelp
Went to Two Roosters on a Saturday evening after dinner and it was great! My partner ordered a scoop of the cinnamon donut and I got a scoop of the cookies & cream ice cream. It was a good sized scoop, nice day and plenty of seating, and a nice time! I'd just say that maybe it was a bit over-priced just by a smidge as our bill was a lil over $10 for the total of 2 scoops. However, the ice cream was full of flavor and a fun experience!
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
Two Roosters is our go-to ice cream spot! With solid mainstays and new unique guest flavors each month often incorporating local bakeries and small businesses, there's always something for everyone that will blow your socks off. My favorite classics are Sea Salt Chip Cookie Dough and Cookies 'n' Cream! Can't go wrong. Gotta add rainbow sprinkles every time. They have locations in North Raleigh, Downtown Raleigh, and their newest location which just opened in Durham. It's a small business with a strong emphasis on supporting other local small businesses, and they focus on spreading the love to each surrounding community one cone at a time!
google avatar

Rene S.

Yelp
Stopped in for some local ice cream in Raleigh- nice location and easy to get to. The area was crowded with a Mexican rest right next door. They have a place set up outside for social distancing and crowd control - had to wait a few minutes but not bad at all. You order outside and they have you pick up on the side when your order is ready- no one goes in- we had one regular flavor and one of the "chef" special flavors- the ice cream is locally made and good- not the best but good- the flavors were creative and fun to try. Only dealt with the girl taking my order- she was friendly and efficient- I'd definitely go back I'd ever in the area.
google avatar

Rok S.

Yelp
Decided to stop at Two Roosters for some ice cream. I was expecting more flavors, but the ice cream was very delicious. Had the "Dark Chocolate Mint Chunk" and it was very good. Sampled the "Coffee Bourbon " and the "Strawberry & Honey" and both were good. There isn't much indoor seating, but there is also outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Cuteness overload! I absolutely loved the old Ford truck with a matching trailer as the Two Roosters food truck on the Tour D' Coop. We shared a single sized chocolate ice cream cup. It was a perfect treat on a hot and humid day. I loved that they get their milk and cream from local dairies. It tasted much creamier than store bought ice cream. I also just visited their website and learned they have a location in North Raleigh. We'll be visiting soon!
google avatar

Kiara I.

Yelp
This was our first time trying Two Rooster Ice Cream and I am so happy that we did. We always say that we would go but yesterday was National Chocolate Ice Cream Day so that gave us a good excuse to grab some ice cream. The ice cream shop is situated inside of a shopping center which by the way is always packed because the shopping center isn't that big. But my husband dropped me off in the front and found a space very close to Two Roosters. When we walked in my 4 year had to use the restroom. So we went to the bathroom the bathroom was very clean and had plenty of paper towels etc. when we walked out the bathroom was literally out of the door but it moved fast. We tried 4 different samples; blackberry hibiscus, strawberry and butterscotch. My husband ended up getting butterscotch and I got the chocolate. They were both really good and the order came up to about $8. One thing that we thought was really cool is that you can get a flight which is like a sample of 4 different ice cream for the price of 2 kid scoops (I think that I saw that correctly) The staff was amazing and very pleasant. They greeted everyone that walked in and was very helpful. So happy that we celebrated with them.
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Yum! Great North Raleigh ice cream spot. I recently went in and tried a few flavors, I settled on the honey strawberry. It was delicious, the fresh strawberry flavor really came through. The employees were super nice and patient with everyone getting their sample on. My husband got the thin mint girl scout cookie and it was quite tasty as well. It had huge chunks of thin mint mixed within the ice cream. The toppings are minimal, but they have all the basics, I opted in for some hot fudge. The interior is bright and small. There are a bunch of tables outside, although I technically think they belong to the bottle shop next door and not to the ice cream shop. We sat outside and enjoyed our ice cream. By the time we had finished the ice cream shop was closed and there was literally no trashcan in the area. There was a trashcan across the way in the plaza and that was already overflowing with ice cream dishes. They really need to put a trash or two outside the ice cream shop. Random, but important, otherwise it just encourages people to be lazy and leave their trash around which is never good!
google avatar

Selina S.

Yelp
This place has the best ice cream in Raleigh and it's not a competition. With rotating guests and delicious classic flavors available each month it cannot be beat. From a food truck, to a Raleigh staple, it's only a matter of time before this ice cream is renowned across the country and I'm not being hyperbolic! Have a blackberry hibiscus shake, they are amazing.
google avatar

Rachael N.

Yelp
Service is fast and friendly. The ice cream is amazing and I love the unique and yummy flavors. Would definitely recommend.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream. Customer service was great. We went in at around 4pm on a Tuesday and it was insanely busy but it wasn't a big deal because there is plenty of seating outside.
google avatar

TJ L.

Yelp
So for the 2nd time in one week I've ended up at Two Roosters, this time at the Lead Mine Road location. The 3 soda jerks (well, scoop jerks is a better description) behind the counter were busy bees with the line extending out the door and all over the sidewalk. The sweet scent of waffle cones is hard to resist, but we opted for the four flavor flight since this was my son's first visit. The butter pecan was again for me the tops, and my son agreed. His second choice was the strawberry honey, mine was the coffee bourbon. Last was cookies and cream. The scoops were a little on the light side, especially seeing how generous the cones were packed for half the price. But the ice cream is top shelf and a great dessert for the first day of summer.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
Best fresh homemade ice cream, best flavors, always a treat! Only negative - pint $prices$ have gone insane.
google avatar

Jonah P.

Yelp
Okay this place is just delightful. Got a flight of 6 flavors for $13 and it was basically dinner for two. Tried the girl scout mint, peanut butter cookie, strawberry honey, raspberry sorbet, bourbon cold brew, and key lime. All were stellar and mixed well once the sun started melting things. Super cute kid/dog friendly area right outside
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
I went there once with my kids and we ordered different kinds of ice cream. I think I got either vanilla or strawberry and remember that it wasn't very flavorful. Also, it had ice crystals in it, which means it was probably refrozen or something. It was a bit on the expensive side. Although it is the closest ice cream place nearby and I often go for ice cream, I have not been back. I do see it busy when I drive past it so I assume they are doing something right but not on the day I went.
google avatar

Joanna N.

Yelp
First day in Raleigh. After exploring the area, Bae and I were actually looking for restrooms when we found Two Roosters. This place is incredible! The staff was so friendly and let us try a handful of samples. Very imaginative flavors. We were pretty shocked at the quality of the ice cream. There's a classics list and a "guest" list of flavors. Cute. I ended up getting scoops of the coffee bourbon and blackberry hibiscus. The scoops were extremely generous. Loved the texture -- it was a sticky, not too thick or thin consistency. I consider myself to be a tough ice cream critic and this place really delivered.
google avatar

Liz O.

Yelp
Edited: We had a questionable experience three weeks ago. The owner was super responsive but maybe full of it since he didn't follow-up as promised. We've avoided going back due to that. There are other solid ice cream options out there. ****** We have been loyal to this place for years since it's our local, neighborhood ice cream spot. Today we tried a new cream flavor that no one in the family liked. We asked the store if they would let us try something else. The response was, "Yeah, if you buy it." I understand if that's policy there's nothing they can do BUT it sure wasn't a great customer service response. $8 went into the trash. This place used to do samples and now they apparently could care less if you like their stuff.
google avatar

Sookia S.

Yelp
This is hands down my son's favorite food truck. Once we stood in line for an hour (not kidding, it was at a food truck rodeo) for ice cream. So they finally have a store, of course We are both super excited. He had the cookies and cream. But I had chocolate covered strawberry. I am a huge fan of this flavor and it was awesome with a capital A. Best part we got there early and the wait was modest and air conditioned. We will be back, definitely.
google avatar

Kierstyn M.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! They are doing a wonderful job handling the covid issue and their flavors are delicious! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Alexa L.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream shop in the Triangle, bar none! Two Roosters has everything I look for--premium ice cream with imaginative flavors that are executed perfectly, outstanding customer service, and an adorable inviting storefront. Although it was quite pricey (single scoop is $5), you do get to choose two flavors, and they pack the ice cream in the cup so it was quite a lot. You certainly get your money's worth! I wish Two Roosters was close to me, but unfortunately it is a bit of a drive. However I do prefer it over Fresh, and since they swap out new flavors constantly, I will probably make the drive out to North Raleigh again.
google avatar

Cindy O.

Yelp
I'm on a roll now, finding local and fresh made ice-cream stores - they are popping up everywhere! And speaking of Pop-up, the hours and flavor changes here make it feel that way. We loved the quiet, personal service and atmosphere. As you can tell by the pictures, everything was exciting and fun. We hope to Pop-in again soon!
