Planning a day trip to Niagara? In wine country it seems as though there's an abundance of good wine but it's impossible to find amazing food.
Nestled on a beautiful sprawling property with a patio that gives off major European feel, it's no wonder why this place is always booked up. I heard about the food here pre-covid being pretty good. But sadly they only have a prix fixe menu right now, which is 2 courses for $70, with the option to add some snacks and sides.
We ordered the:
1. Burrata: Heirloom tomatoes, burrata, TSV Olive Oil & fresh basil
- The tomatoes were a bit bland, I think they should have used smaller sized tomatoes as they give off more flavor to contrast with the creaminess of the burrata
2. Beef carpaccio: Arugula, pecorino & truffle oil
- This is usually my favorite when done well, but unfortunately a bit bland as well. The truffle oil was weak and the abundance of arugula overwhelmed the beef (not pictured)
3. Seafood Tagliatelle: White wine, cherry tomato & parsley
- This was very average, the flavors didnt stand out
4. Rigatoni Bolognese: Beef, veal & pork with Parmesan-Reggiano
- The was the best item we chose, the flavors were delicious and mixture of 3 meats made for a deep and flavorful sauce
5. Arancini: Sicilian rice balls with smoked mozzarella, tomato sauce & basil
These were fairly crispy, however the tomato sauce was a touch bland as well.
Not wowed by this meal but honestly it was probably better than my many previous experiences in the Niagara region. But still worth a try for their beautiful atmosphere. Lemme know if you guys have any suggestions on restaurants in Niagara!
