Tyler's Tackle Shop & Crab House

Richard gave us the perfect suggestion for my group of 5! We had 3 dozens size 2 crabs, and he was kind enough to let us eat outside and enjoy the authentic, Chesapeake Bay Experience! Can’t rave about this place enough. Salt-of-the-sea type of folks frequent here as well … 10/10

Great local tackle shop and crab house. George, the owner, is a great guy. Back in 2013 he actually certified my state record largemouth bass on his official scale and helped record the weight, length, and girth. Always appreciated that. The shop is well stocked with bait and tackle, and they also have really good crabs. Definitely a great stop if you’re fishing in the area.

For a premium price I got awful crabs. Not only were the crabs light something went wrong in the cooking process I'm sure. The crabs were awful awful awful the person behind the counter gave me a nice smile while she took my money

This place was great. Jumbo crabs were so meaty & heavy. Great friendly service.

First time getting stream crabs from them got #2 2 dozen. Had great taste but they were paper shell and light not meaty at all. The shrimp was very good not over spicy the was good.The crabs was not over spicy either. That was good for us. Maybe it was a bad time to buy crabs, did not have to have a knocker to open the claws. Just letting people know.

Tyler’s tackle shop is the best around. George doesn’t make up fishing stories! He set us up with his hand made rigs that didn’t disappoint and a great location to get on the fish. Had a great day of fishing with my boys. Thanks George!

I went to Chesapeake bay 1st time and went to Tyler's shop to seek advise about the local fishing. I am glad that the person guided me very well and explained what i need to buy to have fun time. I bought bloodworms and few rigs to catch spot croakers. My kids loved it. Thanks for your help. I may stop by sometime again to see your advise on how to catch bigger fishes.

The bait shop is well stocked and the owners are helping and friendly. Plus they are dog friendly!

What does most Marylander's do during the summer? Eat Crabs! The Wife and I decided to travel down to North Beach and enjoy the boardwalk. We've past the crab house many times, if you're from the general area, you know what I mean, because it's centrally located. We decided to try our luck and call to place an order before heading home. We picked up a dozen well... well... did I mention... "well seasoned" hot crabs. Personally, prefer the local crab houses on the Chesapeake, instead of the popup trucks selling live crabs. To conclude my review, the crabs were AWESOME! The customer service was AWESOME as well! Oh, by the way, we also grabbed some soft shell crabs to fry the next day for breakfast. Call in advance is the best advice!

had some crabs last night call an ask if the crabs were heavy sure she said .They're the worst crabs that I ever had ,hardly any meat in them, an for the money they stole my money .for this ti of year they should be heavy ,65 a dozen crazy please tell the truth.for as much cost you lost a regular customer.

We picked up a dozen number ones last week. We ordered ahead, and they were ready when I arrived. They were big and full, and cooked perfectly. I guess they thought a few were small, and threw in a couple of extra. The staff was lovely. You can also purchase beverages, condiments, etc.

I had been doing crab research for the past week since this dang virus closed my regular crab spot. I wanted to get my mom some steamed crabs to celebrate Mother's Day weekend. I called Tyler's several times before finally getting through to someone. I placed my order for a dozen and a half of #1 males for $60/dozen since those were the largest they had and they told me they would have them ready when I arrived. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from Bowie but when I got there, my crabs were piping hot about 5 minutes later. The crabs were delicious. The seasoning they used was very tasty and they were steamed perfectly. My only complaint was that it was a mixed bag of various sizes of crabs - some small, some large, some light and some heavy. I would have preferred some consistency, but they got the job done. My mom enjoyed them, and I would definitely check them out again. Hopefully they will get some larger crabs as the season gets underway.

Not fancy and items not diverse. But locals waiting in line for crabs and shrimp. Don't need a better recommendation!

Great service and they threw in an extra crab. Current price as of today is $65 for #1 male crab. You do not have to by a dozen! You can purchase the number you want and the cost per crab is the market price divided by 12! The steaming is very fast and served in a double brown bag with the seasoning, all bay, sprinkled or rather coating every crab. Not a sit down place, best to have them steam and go. They also have an assortment of fish filets, and varies size shrimp. Everything can be prepared for you and wrapped ready to eat at your destination!

Stopped by on a whim in an attempt to satisfy a craving for crab legs. The woman assisted me immediately and I purchased 3 lbs on the spot. After what seemed like no time at all, they were perfectly steamed and I was given seasoning on the side. I returned home and gladly devoured in one sitting~ The crab legs were delicious, meaty and steamed perfectly. And even better with melted butter and paired with a beer. I hope to visit again before I return home and am definitely interested in adding a dozen male crabs to my order next visit.

The wait wasn't too bad. We did call ahead though and had about a 10-15 minute wait inside. The place is a amp-frills seafood steam joint but well worth the drive, Tyler's has some of THE BEST CRABS AND SHRIMP in Maryland ! Overall good food, worth the drive from the city. It's not too far from the beach so might as well make a day of it. If there had to be a negative its that the woman at the front taking orders rolls her eyes a lot and seems like she s rushing you but the crabs are FIREEEEEEE .

Me and a friend came here last Friday and we had a GOOD TIME!! The food was DELICIOUS I had seafood, he had wings. The server was on point with everything, the customers knew it was a good atmosphere they were dancing and singing. They had live dj in the parking lot it was NICE!!

They get star because it was seasoned well and the time for the wait wasn't excessive. I was really disappointed with how dry the crab meat was when it was just prepared. I couldn't eat it. I passed it on to whomever wanted to try their hand. Per other reviews we must have gotten a bad batch.

Great place. I go there weekly to pick up a tub of crabmeat and usually some fish. Always fresh and carefully packed for the trip home.

Great, fast service every time we go there. They steam and season crabs and shrimp on the spot for us and all we have to do is crack away and eat! Good stuff, if you're in the mood for the long and painful experience of blue crabs!

This is the place to go for big batch carry out crabs. The people are nice, the crabs are good, the place is clean. The location is good and there's parking. They even brought my order to my car for me.

I love this place and smoked blue fish. They almost always have it along with great local seafood. They are True Blue, that means they only have Maryland Blue Crab. Very friendly staff, worth the stop.

Picked up a dozen #2 males crabs to go ($35). Was told they were heavy and full. Always good news to hear. When I got home and ate the crabs, half were light and very salty. Also super small. Looked like they barely made the okay to keep instead of having to catch and release size. Don't think Ill make a trip back here.

We have gotten crabs here every year and they are always spectacular!! We just got some #1 males this week and they were amazing. Highly recommend

Awesome place. This place doubles as one end is the store, which is fantastic, very nice staff, they have all the supplies you will ever need for fishing, crabbing, poles, rods, nets, reels, bait, you name it. They got it. Very much a great little gem of a place. Awesome. On the other end, is the crab house which serves up cooked Maryland Blue crabs and some other seafood items. The wait can be long, only if there is a massive rush of people, otherwise, it's not a long wait at all. Best to phone in ahead to get your order in, then just go pick it up. The husband and wife team/combo are super friendly and nice and very easy going. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for super good Maryland Blue Crabs. Just delicious!!!

George is a good man, he is always willing to help our veterans and expects nothing in return. Every morning at 5:30 am when I turn the corner at the Bayside traffic light, I see George in front of the tackle shop with his fishing buddies, store open and ready to help his customers prepare for a great day of fishing! Thank you so very much for keeping our small town charm and setting a wonderful example for the next generation.

I went to the tackle shop yesterday and met Captain George who was extremely helpful and gave our group some great fishing tips. His hospitality and kindness reminded me why it's good to support small businesses like his because stores like this are hard to find. When we left his store, we all said that we will be sure to stop by Tyler's whenever we go the Chesapeake Beach for fishing.
