Locals love Ty’s for straightforward, well‑seasoned burgers and fresh curly fries at a fair price. It’s a no‑fuss midtown staple praised by regulars and neighborhood critics for doing the basics right.

I've had a black and blueburger and a patty melt. They were both really good. Staff was nice and checked on me several times, even though it's counter service. Fresh cut fries tasted fresh and were not super oily. They are also open in the evenings until 8.

Ty's is my favorite hamburger spot in Tulsa. The burgers hit just right and the curly fries are always outstanding. I probably visit 3 times a month and I've never had a bad experience. It reminds me of getting a cheeseburger with my dad growing up. Do yourself a favor and go!!

Google
Fantastic burger spot. I've said this before but, the hole in the wall spots are the best. The food was good, I got the A1 burger. The fries are also good with and without the Cajun seasoning. Definitely need to visit if you haven't already. Oh, it's a little pricey, but it's worth it.

The atmosphere here was great. Super calm and relaxed. It feels like someone’s country grandpa opened a burger place in the best way. The fact they had gluten free buns drew me in and I’m so glad it did. The burgers and tater tots were so good we started making plans to come again before we had left.

Google
The curly fries were so so no real flavor but they burger was amazing! I ordered the A1 Bacon burger with the A1 on the side and the burger was so good by itself I used the A1 on the fries I dined in the service was great like you expect at an old fashioned burger joint the prices are better than I expected my whole meal was $13 something and the place was clean I’ll definitely go back every time I’m in the area

I've been out of Tulsa for the last ten years. I don't remember the last time I tried Ty's but it was at least 12 years ago, maybe 15 years ago. That long ago visit was bad. I wondered about how recent my last doctor visit was. I was shaken enough to worry if I was about to bring sickness back home. Being back in Green Country I heard about 3 years ago the ownership had changed and when I had the chance I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to see what was different. First? Clean. The space was clean and maintained. I obviously didn't get behind the counter but I believe the same attention to sanitary conditions was there as well. I ordered a Hickory Burger without lettuce or tomato. I feel like veggies can distract from the quality of a burger. So, my first time I edit them to focus on the burger. Magnificent! This is a smash burger with a generous about of hickory sauce. The pickle and onion was not increased by the holding of the other two toppings. Not too much, not too little. The patty was larger than the bun. Not to an unyielding degree but enough that you realize you have a giving portion. I ordered curly fries to round out the order. The portion is more than generous. So generous the woman helping me warned we wouldn't be able to get the lid of the to-go container shut. She let me decide how to season the fries (Cajun, salt, and/or pepper) before securing my order unshut container in a bag for transport. This is my new favorite. If you're looking for lunch East of Cherry Street this should be a top priority.

I had the classic cheseburger with mustard. mayo, pickle and onion. Burger was cooked and seasoned medium well and had good flavor. Onion rings didn't taste homemade they tasted frozen and premade but were ok.

Yelp
Strongly recommend. We picked up an order for 8 - a variety of items and everyone was very happy with lunch. I had the chili and definitely would do again. We ate here yearly for a horse show and this was our first time trying Ty's. We will be back.

Yelp
Food was good, the service was good, it was a Saturday around noon and I was the only one in the place so that made me a bit apprehensive. The ambiance was a bit dark and plan.

Yelp
Wanted a good burger but close to our house today for lunch, so we found that Ty's Hamburgers is right down the road and we'd never been in. I got the black and blue burger with onion rings and hubs got a standard bacon cheeseburger and Q's. I thought (mistakenly) that I had seen a photo of the onion rings here before and they were more shoestring. My mistake, I was obviously remembering a photo from somewhere else. The burgers were good and so were the sides, though I much preferred his fries to my onion rings. Two problems that were kind of meal killers: they don't appear to have AC. They have fans everywhere, standing and ceiling and it was still hot as hades in there - I couldn't wait to get back in the car with AC. Second, they only offer one diet soft drink, Diet Coke, and it ran out when filling our cups. Also, the little Diet Coke we got was flat. No refills on that $2.25 soft drink. It was a little dive-ish, and I can handle that, but the heat and lack of carbonated diet drinks was a bit of a bummer. This was also a $30 lunch all in, so if price is a concern, preview the menu. The food itself was great though and I anticipate we will order to-go next time.

Yelp
Delicious burgers and friendly service! Been in Tulsa a long time and has a really cool old school vibe. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I'm so glad we found this place!! The service was amazing and the staff were attentive. I loved my Cheeseburger, onion rings were a little greasy yet edible and tasty, tea was fresh. I love the ambiance, reminds me of an old school Cheeseburger joint especially the old signs. Definitely, recommend. My friend had curly Q fries, I liked. The food was hot.

Yelp
Tantalizing tangles of tators and a burger as good as any old-fashioned burger in Tulsa. The paint on the building can't disguise the building's age, inside or out. The building has been around awhile. Possibly much longer than the 40 plus years since Ty's first slapped a beef patty on the grill in Tulsa. A sign painted on the south side of the building proclaims "over 3 dozen sold." It doesn't qualify that achievement in reference to the time it took to do it. Judging from the delicious taste of the burger and fries, I believe that volume in sales is easily exceeded daily! Inside the seating is comprised of a hodgepodge of comfortable orphaned chairs and tables. Order at the counter, the food is delivered to your table. In the kitchen, Ty's unwinds the big potatoes. Then the pale tangles of potato string are rushed to the fryer. In minutes they become golden brown coils, crispy potato Slinkies. You get a big pile and they are good, addictive. The burger matched. For me a third pound patty with cheese, appropriately dressed with L,T,P,O&M hold the mayo. Ty's is a must try old-fashioned burger dive. Recommended.

Yelp
We were trying to find a new place to grab a quick bite to eat in Tulsa and my friend suggested Ty's. I always loved supporting a small business! The menu wasn't very big which is ok by me! I ordered the Hickory Burger & Curly fries. The burger was great but the curly fries not my favorite. My other choice were Tots add I'm not a fan of those either. If you're looking for a new place to try, this might be worth your stop!
google avatar

Yelp
Hurried. Grabbed carry out. Did not know Ty's had been sold to a Mexican couple. The parking lot and the visual of people walking in was astounding. Apparently nothing has changed except the menu. Mexican offerings added. We ordered our beloved burgers and were not dissatisfied. Hubby ordered and they followed his instructions perfectly. Good burger baskets, more diverse menu & credit cards. Yeah!!!
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Got the A1 burger minus the A1 sauce lol DCB w/Bacon plus Q's. The food was amazing, it came out fast and hot!! The staff here is amazing. It's been 7 years since I've been here and why I don't know why but I won't let that happen again.

Yelp
This place is under new ownership. Much improved! This place is much cleaner. New owners are working hard to reclaim a business that was neglected by previous owner. They kept what was good which is the curly fries juicy burgers and fresh onion rings. They have expanded menu and hours. If you had given up on this place you should come give it a try.

Yelp
First (but not the last) visit on a cold Saturday afternoon--very good cheeseburger and curly-fries. This is the cheeseburger I know from my childhood. I bought a cup of chili to go. I have fingers crossed that it is an excellent chili.

Yelp
Tulsa Staple... the food insanely good. Place is clean. Staff is fast. Takes me back to my childhood. Simple elegance. Thankfully it's still thriving

Yelp
First time back to Ty's since the change in management/ownership. I noticed the outside signs displaying Mexican food and figured it had turned into a different restaurant. I was wrong. We were driving by after an appointment, on our way to Fixins downtown. I mentioned to my partner that recently I noticed very positive reviews and since she loved the old Ty's, we whipped around and were immediately greeted when we entered. There was only one other couple in the restaurant who were just ordering at the counter. When it was our turn, we each got the 1/4 lb. Cheeseburger ($7.15). We got an order of Curly Que Fries ($2.25) to share because they were huge. We each got a soft dring ($2.25) and seated ourselves by the front window. There was one cook in the kitchen and the lady who took our order brought out the food to our table. It's a clean place and the burgers and fries were exactly as we remembered. Ty's has been around forever and I hope it lasts. We had lunch around 2:30, so maybe that explains why there weren't more customers. The tab for our meal was $25.58. With the $10 tip, it came to $35.58 (which is still cheaper than it would have been at Fixins).

Yelp
Today found me in serious need of a burger fix. Living in Owasso, there are some options, but they also get used pretty regularly, and I wanted something different. So I schlepped my butt into Tulsa, heading for Hank's on Admiral. Thanks, Covid... Hank's wasn't open. Not sure if it was just today or what. So, on to the next closest burger joint, Freddie's on 11th. Totally packed. Not gonna wait. I gave Yelp! a quick look (not while driving, so untwist those panties), and laid my eyes on Ty's. Now, I've known about Ty's for years, but not being a regular in the 15th and Harvard area, I'm almost never there. Not so today. I landed in the parking lot and made my way inside. You order at the counter from a menu that's short and to the point. Basic burgers, a patty melt and blackened chicken sandwich are offered up, as well as some chicken nuggets for those picky eaters (like The Kid). I opted for a 1/3lb hickory cheese burger, 1/2 order of Q's (curly fries), and a cup of homemade chili. Or so it says, anyway. Ordering took a little while, since there were a couple of people in line, and Ty's is strictly old school. Orders handwritten on a roll of adding machine paper and carried to the kitchen, with your drink on the return trip. Seating was a little sparse (thanks again, Covid.), but I found a corner booth. Overall the place is a little kitschy, rundown and the perfect dive burger bar atmosphere. Literally, I love the inside. I'd rather eat at place like this than a shiny new hi tech music pounding chrome and plastic franchise burger joint. Every.Damn.Time. So the food arrived in due time... a little longer than I would have expected, but there was a fairly large group of parents and soccer kids en route to a tournament, so that might have jammed things up a bit. It looked like there was one guy in the back manning the grill, so patience is extended in this instance. The 1/2 order of fries is easily more than any one normal person needs to eat at one time. I didn't finish all mine, even though they were delicious. As another reviewer mentioned, they definitely need a good smack with the salt shaker right out of the oil, as I had to salt mine pretty rigorously. The burger was well done. Solid, nicely prepared and flavorful. It looked good sitting in the basket, albeit a little dwarfed by that mountain of fries. Cooked well, it had a great flavor, the hickory was subtle but there, and the toppings were all in good proportion and fresh. Well done job. The chili was good as well. When you order a cup, well, you get a cup full. A coffee cup, that is. For the price, it was a very generous serving. As for the homemade, I can't say. It was highly reminiscent of Chili Bowl chile. That said, I grew up on CB chili and love it. So whether this was homemade or not, it was good and I ate it all. And I won't hesitate to get it again the next time I drop in. Again, Ty's is a little out of the way for me, but I will certainly return the next occasion that time and location allow.

Yelp
You had me at tots with my burger, then you go and put some flat out amazing chili on it and new year's resolution has been crushed instantly. This is one of those cool place where you can have a burger with a friend. The sweet tea isn't messing around it's proper southern sweet tea, I usually just mix it with a little unsweetened. They do every part of the burger properly it's got a nice char and if you get a bacon burger the bacon is on the crispy side. I usually get the bigger burger and that meal fills you up right. The staff is super friendly and the burgers are on point, this place has a mix of family diner and dive burger joint just the kind of place I like!
google avatar

Lainey C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Everyone working was so kind, it may be a little pricey but, for the people and the food I say it's definitely worth it. My friend and I love suggesting this place when we don't know where to eat! definitely a hidden gem
google avatar

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Ty's burgers and the experience was less than satisfactory... Soda machine wasn't working properly, the kids order was wrong and the place was dirty & cluttered. I'm a retired restaurant owner and I feel appalled for the owner. Unfortunately, a small business like Ty's will not be successful without the presence of the owner. Suggestion: 1. Clear all the junk from hallway between kitchen and game room. 2. Make the game/pool room comfortable for customers. Clear out the junk and clean it! 3. Always have an older adult managing young staff. Manager you have was very nice and refunded for kids food, but staff (young girls) working there are horrible. 4. The curly fries were very good but burger was pitiful. One tiny leaf on burger, one pickle, extremely paper thin tomato slice.... The restaurant needs a good cleaning!

Yelp
Stopped to visit a local landmark in Tulsa today, Ty's hamburgers. When I worked downtown, this was on our weekly rotation and sadly had to forego all restaurants during the pandemic. They had outside seating and that was a plus for us. Same great hamburgers with the onions fried in. I had the third pound cheeseburger with Q's. Burger was cooked perfectly, and a big portion of hot fries. They had a specials board out front with three or four combo deals. The owners are always so friendly and engaging. It was great to get back to an old favorite. We need to support the locals to help them get back on their feet. We sat outside where the traffic was a bit noisy but it was a beautiful day and inside there was plenty of room to spread out. Service was perfect and we will be putting it back in our post pandemic rotation.

Robyn B.

Yelp
We were visiting the Expo for the weekend and found this great little mom and pop burger joint. We have nothing but great things to say about it all! I had the A1 burger and my hubs had the chili burger. Both were incredible with the curly Qs! Customer service was top notch!

Wayne R.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The food was excellent. Can't say enough about the service. It was very very good. Gave us larger portions just because we had a large group with no extra charge. Always checked on us to see if everything I was ok.

Yelp
This was the first time visiting this place, even though I've lived in Tulsa forever. I was lucky to be off early on a recent Friday afternoon so I stopped in after making an appt with its neighbor Pen & Ink Tattoo. I'm never off during the week before 3:30 so I figured I would check them out. Old-school decor, and well worn seating surrounded the smallish space. Menu is up front, with prices clearly marked. I asked for suggestions, since it was my first visit and the employee suggested the onion rings (though I had taken a peek at some other yelp reviews and their pics and noticed the onion rings look like the frozen kind with the heavy batter on them). I chose the Q's since the pictures show them as fresh cut, not previously frozen. I ordered the 1/3 lb cheeseburger with onions fried in (no other toppings, since I wanted to try the burger on its own). Food was cooked up fresh and quick. Slightly disappointed that the buns were tiny compared to the burger patty, like the buns were half the size. The fries were not salted and fries need to be salted immediately out of the fryer to enhance the flavor. Overall, the burger was good, but the fries were lacking. Since they have some weird hours, it will be a while before I return.

Yelp
I grew up enjoying a location in Muskogee, Ok. My family was sad to see that location close down back in the early 90's I believe (could be late 80's). Right before Covid hit, my mother told me that she found a Ty's that looked just how the old Muskogee location looked. I finally visited Tulsa during their business hours & I felt like I'd stepped back into my childhood! The decor, the menu displays, everything was just like I'd remembered as a kid. When I received my order, I honestly caught myself getting emotional over the experience since I'd recently lost my mother & we weren't able to share that experience like we planned. But a HUGE thank you to this place for still being so original & so amazing!!! You just don't find places that keep the same taste/experience like Ty's has done!!!! Well done & I'm definitely bringing my daughter to create memories with her here!!
google avatar

Roger D.

Yelp
If there is a better burger in the Tulsa region, I have not found it. The fries are excellent and plentiful and the onion rings are amazing! I don't even like onions but tried one off my kid's plate long ago and onion rings have been my order ever since. Ty's is definitely a best-kept secret and you should find out for yourself.

Yelp
Great burgers, great fries. Old fashioned interior. One of the best burger spots in Tulsa.
google avatar

Irena T.

Yelp
Another Tulsa classic I've been wanting to try!! This place does not disappoint. Legit, freshly made hamburgers and house made fries that come out piping hot. The inside is really cute and has a lot of Route 66-ish knick knacks to look at. There's also a room with free pool in the back.

Jeri Z.

Yelp
I had forgotten how delicious Tye's hamburgers were!! Old fashioned, juicy meat patties, and the buns toasted perfectly!! Curly fries fried to perfection! I will be back again and again!!

Angie N.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday around 2. The owners kids were waiting on us and they kept fighting over an ornament (playfully) but extremely loud and kept ignoring we were even there (we were the only customers). I was highly annoyed from the moment we walked in honestly with their demeanor and lack of professionalism. Burgers were good, onion rings were almost black and fried in old oil. Prob won't go back due to this first interaction with them.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Honestly they know what they are doing when it comes to the kitchen. The reason for my 2 star rating is simply because I spent my entire time inside their restaurant listening to one of the family members scold their child over who knows what. I'm there to enjoy my lunch, not listen to a kid get yelled at the entire time. Food? 5 stars. Overall experience? 2 stars. Will I go back? Maybe they deserve a 2nd chance since they are locally owned

David H.

Yelp
Popped in yesterday with some friends and was bowled over. No exaggeration, it was the best burger I've had in a year. We also got a plate of the chili cheese fries and just fantastic, I could not stop eating them! Plus, the nostalgic 50's decor gave us a lot to talk about. I highly recommend this place!

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Quality of the beef was so so. Food quality didn't match the $27 price tag for two burgers, fries and one coke. Nice people.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
I will preface this with the positive. I love their food. Their greasy burgers hit the spot, and they come in two sizes. The curly fries are natural cut, freshly made, and mouth-watering. Their prices are fantastic. Their burger basket will fill you up. Now for the not so good. The decor is going for old-fashioned, but it comes off as tacky. The tv in the dining area is forever tuned to Fox "News", which makes me lose my appetite. So do yourself a favor, and order your food to go. Enjoy the deliciousness without the negatives.
google avatar

Jamie D.

Yelp
Food delicious, but the lady is wearing gloves and touches everything from trash to her hair and then touches the food and drinks with the same dirty gloves. Could only eat the 2 items I didn't see her touch--hopefully. The drinks were goners tho.

J C.

Yelp
Great burger. Friendly staff. Best curly fries around. Definitely worth a try. You will not be disappointed
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Always enjoy Ty's. Great burger, chili and French fries. Staff is always friendly. Thorough table cleaning between customers.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Great griddle burger with a nice crispy char that is still juicy. Huge order of curly fries. Drinks come with the good nugget ice. Really nice staff and clean store.

Yelp
So, I decided to give Ty's another shot for lunch today. This time I went for a half order of onion rings, since the curly q fries didn't do much for me the first time in. And honestly, they cook up some pretty dang good rings. Oily, mind you, but with a great crunch and a tangy sweetness to the thickly-cut onions proper. The burger was better as well. I like mine with pretty much everything on it, and this one did not disappoint at all. Not the best in town, but certainly flavorsome and satisfying. Maybe I just came on an off day before (in which case, perhaps I ought to give the fries one more go sometime). The service really is well done too. Friendly, quick and attentive. They take your name when you put in the order, then bring it out to you wherever you're sitting in the restaurant, making sure to stop by a couple more times to check if you need a refill or anything cleared off the table. They keep a tip jar by the register where you first order, which really deserves some regular attention given the extra care customers get here versus a standard greasy spoon. I'm somewhat nonplussed about the decor overall though. I can't really decide whether it's more charmingly faded or more sad and worn. There's some great Americana all over the walls and a quaint nostalgic air, but the old carpet and the furniture make the place seem a bit tatty and past its prime. Even still, given the food and the staff, I'd have to revise my previous review upwards a notch. Consider it a 3 1/2 rounded up.
google avatar

Johnny J.

Yelp
In from out of town, Iowa in fact, and needed a quick bite at 1:30 in the afternoon, most burger joints near downtown closed at 1, decided to try this one. Great choice, clean, friendly service, mushroom Swiss burger was great! Had onion rings which were very good also, though probably not made there, fresh, hot and tasty. If back in town will probably go again!
google avatar

Yelp
Our stop at Ty's made it a trifecta with Bill's and Hank's. Ty's is a nice place with really nice people. It has considerably more seating than the other two places. I ordered my burger with chili, mustard, pickle and cheese. When they add chili, they ADD chili. This thing was covered. There is no way you are going to pick this up. I ate it with a fork. It really is too much, so going back I would not order chili unless I got it on the side. They also loaded on the pickles. Everything is generous. Again, it is really hard to distinguish between Hank's, Bill's and Ty's. All are great places to get an old fashioned road food burger. I would need to have a much better statistical sampling to form an opinion. I enjoyed making the rounds and would definitely do it again. I learned how to order (hold the lettuce, tomato and raw onion). Ty's was worth the stop. I had planned to get a coney, but this thing provided all the chili I needed that day.

Yelp
Amazing burgers, fries and onion rings! Great service! Owner and staff make u feel like family, will most definitely be back! Thank u!

Yelp
We finally were able to try Ty's today for lunch!! The bourse are limited as they are only open from 11-3:30. Our experience was good! The young women in a knee brace taking orders was very kind! I got the hickory burger and LOVED the hickory sauce!! My husband got a cheeseburger and enjoyed it!! We also shared an order of tots and still had to get a small box to take home!! I loved the feeling inside and they had a game room but we didn't check that out as we're crunching on time. They have the best shaved like ice as well!! The only negative thing I have to say about our experience here was the owner took a call on the phone and seemed like she was getting a scam caller and raised her voice and was having an attitude on the phone. I get it we all hate scam calls but it was unprofessional to take a call in front of customers and raising your voice while we are just trying to have lunch.. it was kinda awkward. Other then that we had a great experience!! Also, the young girl who ran the register waved and told us thank you when we left!!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Good hamburger with lots of fries. Social distancing practices and masks were implemented.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
They are offering curbside pickup and have a patio you can eat at, if you can stand the heat. Ty's was my go to spot when I left an appointment monthly on this side of town and I haven't been here in a few years. I passed several "best burger" places when I drove the 15 miles out of my way to get here. I almost cried when they took a few rings to answer the phone but to my tastebuds much needed happiness, they're still here!

Martha N.

Yelp
Looking for a juicy, tasty, home cooked burger? Stop in for just the thing! Huge baskets of fries and tots. I had a special 'frito chili burger and fries' . Great meaty chili and crispy tender burger. No meat substitutes here, only lean fresh meats. So much food, I could not eat it all! Add to your 'burger' tour, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Tulsa is known for many things. If you're a hamburger fan you already know that one of Tulsa's quiet little treasures is it is the home of several classic mom & pop burger stands. Each has their unique family recipe that goes back several decades and of course each has their following as far as which is "best". My long-time favorite is Claud's where they don't do ANYTHING fancy to their burgers, leaving me to enjoy a true hamburger in its purest form. On this day I decided to do a burger challenge and compare Claud's to Ty's. Ty's adds more stuff to their burger like the mandatory mayonnaise. I was put off by the reviews that mentioned slow or bad service because that seems to be a mom & pop thing (but I have to say I've never had either at Claud's). The two restaurants aren't exactly close to each other but I drove across town and arrived 10-15 minutes before their closing time of 3:30 (which is posted on their door, at Yelp, etc). The door was locked, I could see the keys hanging inside and someone inside. Did they open the door? No. I believe if a business says they are open until a certain time they should accept customers until that time and clean up after the place closes. They are in business to serve the public and that means being open when they say they will be open, not lock up when they feel like it.

Yelp
Ohmygod Ty's is good. It's got everything you could ever want in a burger place. I mean everything. 1. Incredible burgers. Different sizes, so a lady such as myself can get a daintier burger than her date. Cute, right? 2. Amazing fries. The curly ones- not too salty, not soggy at all, and super bad for you. Some advice: eat them with a fork. Thank me later. 3. Crushed ice. You know, that perfect kind of ice that actually makes drinks taste better. And you get a cup of ice and a can of soda. A second can only costs .25! 4. Booths. Who likes the discomfort of sitting at a table? 5. Local heroes. Ty's is close to the TU campus, so they have famous patrons like the star of the Golden Hurricanes football team and his head coach. Impressive, no? BRING CASH!!! Ty's doesn't accept credit cards. And don't lie about being a student for the discount. That's sleazy.

Yelp
I love Ty's! They are the best for burgers in Tulsa, and their fries (they call them Qs pretty religiously) are fantastic. The staff is friendly and will pretend to remember you every visit, even though they usually don't. (I find this adorable.) Free drink for TU students, which is awesome. Bring cash, they do not accept any other form of payment.

Yelp
I live right down the street, and I have never had a bad burger. the place is old fashioned and kind of kitschy. the pop is in a can with a glass of ice, and for some reason i get a little tickle in my soul watching the coke melt over the ice. weird, I know. I usually get a double with fries and it puts me in a food coma. Double burger, fries and a coke is just under 8 bucks, so it is a good value. they do not accept credit cards, so whenever I actually have cash i head over there for some burger luvin. oh, look i found a 10er in my pocket! Off to tys!
