U & I Steak and Seafood Restaurant

Very busy at 1 PM, so we waited a half hour for our order. The food was worth the wait, the broiled Red Snapper filet was flaky, fresh and cooked right. Good reviews on the Fisherman's Platter and the Catfish with Shrimp. Fries were good. Food would have got 5 stars if the Fried Okra had been fresh and hot. Service was good, not overly attentive. Restaurant seems clean and well kept.

I came here with my friend. The prices are a bit STEEP, but the food was out of this world! We both ordered their burgers—and boy, did they deliver. Don't leave this place without trying the cheesecake! You'll thank me later. No cheesecake ever tasted like this good. 😋 The service was excellent, too. The staff checked on us frequently and did so with a genuine smile.

We were recommended to this place during Spring Break, so we thought, why not?😁 And, of course, it was packed with a wait time! But it was well worth it!😄 The food was scrumptious especially their rolls - soft buttery texture that melts in your mouth!🤩 Although there was a hiccup with one of our drinks- other than that, it was a great dining experience!😄 Also kudos to the server ( my apologies I forgot her name) but she was so attentive despite it being packed!😃

Great place for seafood in Corpus Christi. We waited 5 minutes to get seated. Restrooms are clean. Service was fast. Food served was tasty and fresh. We ordered captains plate decent plate for seafood. Will definitely come to this place again.

Overall, I had a very positive experience at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly. I unknowingly showed up near closing time, only to realize this after I ordered. The waiter did not say anything, and after I realized this, I was told to take my time with my meal and that there was no hurry. They were cleaning up around the restaurant while I ate, but I never felt hurried by them - class act by the staff! I wasn't in the mood for a steak so I got Mexican food, and it was very good (though not the best I've ever had), especially considering this was a steak house. I wish I could do fractional stars as I would have rated 4.5.

We had the best waitress, Elaine I believe was her name, and she was from Greece which made her personality perfect for the occasion. The restaurant itself isn't fancy but it is clean and tidy with nice restrooms and easy parking. I strongly recommend eating at this establishment and enjoying some great cooking!

George and his staff always do an excellent job. Their hospitality and service are always on point. Been coming here for most of my life. Always a great meal at excellent prices.

My server was very sweet and the whole restaurant looked very clean. They had large parties inside and all the staff member were working together to take care of everyone. I love the creamy spinach dip I added some pickled jalapeños on the side to give it some spice! Next, I ordered the steak and quail with a Caesar side salad and a loaded baked potato. I also added some provolone cheese to my quail don’t judge me, but it’s so good!!! The steak was good, but there was a certain type of seasoning on it that made it a bit salty but still very delicious and he quail was cooked beautifully!

Food is yummy and has EVERYTHING, so if you don't know what to eat this place is your best choice. Yet it was very loud and crowded, I'm talking chair to chair and table to table crowded with waitresses running around. But rather then that it was cool also TAKE ALL OF THEIR CANDIES They have a lot at the front desk

Very nice waitstaff, it was obvious the owners are local. The food choice were abundant and the did well on all our meals. The place was nice, yet quaint and well kept.

Did not expect the great quality of meat that we got! Walking in, it feels like an AppleBees kinda atmosphere. Wooden tables, wooden chairs. Rather loud and boisterous. We started with the sampler platter: fried mozarella sticks, stuffed jalapeños, and fried mushrooms. My husband was thrilled that the jalapeños were stuffed with cheddar cheese versus cream cheese, and I was very happy with the mushrooms. Often times the mushrooms are small, but these were meaty!! We both ordered the rib eye with salad, and baked potatoes. The salad was standard, but the baked potatoes were cooked perfectly, and when mixed with sour cream and butter, it was creamy and fluffy! I ordered the ric eye rare, and it came out exactly as it should! A lot of times I need steak sauce, but what was presented needed no addiontal spices. Wow, it was perfect. Full disclosure this was our 3rd visit in 2 months, and I don't know why I never wrote a review because this place deserved a good review. The only con is that it can get loud. On our 2nd visit got seated in the backroom with a party of 20+ celebrating a birthday and it got uncomfortably loud. I'd suggest to the restaurant to not share that room with a party of 2. So if you're on a date, I'd recommend you ask to be placed away from the large tables. All in all highly suggest if you're craving some great beef!!

I have visited this place several times while visiting Corpus Christi. Great food and the steaks with seafood are my favorites. Go by when you get a chance. It's well worth it.

Food was good, the waiter took a long time to refill my water but not sure if it was because I went for a private event but overall it's a nice place to check out if your in the area.

I love the food and friendly staff ! Their lunch specials are great ! I go a couple of times a week! Highly recommended!

We had a rather terrible experience here when visiting Corpus. First, they seated us in the small room in the back where there was a family that had no decency or consideration for other guests. This group of folks were just having a blast and laughing hysterically like a pack of hyenas. It was incredibly loud as it was magnified by the acoustics of the crowded room. It got so bad that I was actually developing a headache with all the noise. The only reason I did not personally get up and tell them anything is because we had several children in our party and we were celebrating one of their birthdays. No need to risk causing a scene. Instead, I made many allusions to our waiter of the bothersome noise coming from that table and he just said "yea it's terrible ". I noticed other waitstaff were also bothered by the noise from the hyenas. After looking around more, I noticed no one in the entire room was having a good time either. When something so obvious is happening, one of the waitstaff should have been aware of the need to respectfully ask them to keep it down out of consideration for the other guests. When our food arrived nearly an hour after we ordered it, we were all pretty much unimpressed. There was nothing special about any of the plates we ordered and we left with a mediocre opinion of the restaurant.

My fiancé, our friend, and I went to this restaurant. It is cozy and homey. It's right by the beach, so it's a great walk. Our server, AJ was polite and served us well. We also were seated immediately. The food was delicious! Some items are pricy, but you get what you pay for. I love this place and we will be returning.

Food is always great , have never gotten a bad dish and we've been here alot thru the years. Our server Brandon was the best ! Wonderful personality and great table service. There is a wait sometimes but it's worth it. Highly recommend.

The man did greeted us. A smile or greeting goes a long way . The shrimp had a terrible odor.

My daughter and I looked up the restaurant "U & I" and we struck gold! The food was home made, fresh off the stove and out of the oven. We could tell the food had not been sitting at the window waiting. Everything tasted wonderful and hot from the heat. Our waiter, Tim was excellent. He was knowledgeable of what tasted great and made suggestions for our choosing. The pickled beets were home made and the homemade rolls were hot, sweet and ready to eat. The Italian Cream Cake and the homemade cheese cake both came with real strawberries and strawberry juice for the topping. RECOMMENDATION: If you visit Corpus Christi, TX be sure to visit the restaurant "U & I", which I highly recommend for enjoyable dining.

Restaurant was pretty lackluster. We chose this restaurant because the wait time was pretty short and we were on a time crunch. We were sat within 5 minutes on a Friday night, which was great. Our server seemed overworked with too many tables. Great attitude but not the most attentive. I ordered the captains platter with a side salad. Salad was basic iceberg with some tomatoes. Salad was still very wet from being washed which watered down the dressing. Not the most appetizing. The captains platter left more to be desired. Portions weren't great, and the scallops had very little flavor. The server was supposed to bring butter for the baked potato which he forgot. All in all, I'd probably go somewhere else next time. The oyster bar down the street seemed pretty nice and lively.

So just like other reviewers have stated; you arrive and wonder if the experience is going to live up to the reviews. Clean place but has a "Denny's" type feel; but the food is very good. We all had steaks and they had great flavor; the filets looked the best and were thinker cuts. Black and Bleu ribeye had great flavor; but thinner cut and they missed the doneness just by one. Got medium vs medium rare. Waitress was amazing and on top of everything; almost to the level of I thought it and she was there asking if we needed something. Great atmosphere and perfect for enjoying table conversation without having to yell across the table.

The food was very good for the price! Steaks had great flavor! Peel and eat shrimp was delicious and 1/2 pound was great for 2. Angie was our server and she was excellent! Had great recommendations and was efficient and friendly.

U & I has stood the test of time as Corpus has evolved from a small city into what it is becoming today. Comfortably situated on the edge of downtown, it is an ideal place to go for casual business or personal lunch or dinner. Food is great. Steaks are amazing! Prices are reasonable. Service is really good.

This was our second visit and the food was good, except the crab cake, my wife thought the picture looked great so she ordered one crab cake. Turned out to be 14 dollars and we ate half of it, the crab cake was 2 or 3 stars. Check the prices before you order this. She also had the chicken belair which was pretty good topped with a sliced avocado, some beans and a cup of soup. I enjoyed some roast beef covered with brown gravy and some broccoli florets. The meal with some buttery fluffy rolls with real packets of butter.

I have never been disappointed with their food. All plates I've tried are delicious. BUT today, Father's Day was the worst experience. Our server Stella was nice. But idk if the A/C was out but we literally were sweating while trying to eat dinner. Even the server didn't know what was going on. She was sweating too. Even though the meals were good, I couldn't continue eating and took my food to go.

The service was excellent. Friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was very nice. Very clean and plenty of room. The food was excellent. The steak was done exactly as ordered. The rolls are made in house; and also the dessert.

The service was amazing I ended up coming with about 6 people and it obviously was gonna be a wait , after maybe 10 minutes we were seated(short wait time). The service they provided throughout the time we were here was 10/10, we sat and were skimming the them menu and 5 minutes later our waiter comes up and starts up out with drinks and we also ordered right then and there !! The Ambience is another great idea you should recommend this place they're super nice and understanding. The food was 11/10 would definitely come back and eat here again when I'm in town.

1 hour wait for grilled chicken salad, and put NO CHICKEN on my salad. Puny steak was still bloody even tho I ordered well done. First time trying on our anniversary and we had to take the food home because it was too cold in the corner where the intake vent was for the AC. This is the way U & I treats military family. Contacted the owner and basically called us LIARS. Garbage owners and dirty restaurant, if you're in there look up at ac vents and you will see absolute filth, the place smelled like dirty laundry and that doesn't mix well when dining. NO STARS

It was ok......the price was definitely worth it! Service was good. Some items should be left off the menu. Mexican food should not be on them same menu with Italian food and steaks and burgers

Always delicious food, no matter what I order. I've had the chicken Cobb salad and also with Salmon or shrimp. I've never left disappointed.

Always on point. My fav is the Fried Tilapia. Love thru salad and soup at lunch too! Have had specials, the sirloin avocado salad is another favorite. I have had this salad at other restaurants and this one is the best. Ranch dressing is the best!!

Tonight, our party showed up with 21 people and Jareth, our waiter did a tremendous job in handling our orders from start to finish! Extra kuddos to him for bringing out 2 extra potato soups due to first ones not being hot. Great to see young, hard workers like him serving our community and making our evening enjoyable! Keep it up!!

I had the seafood pattern and I had ordered the oyster Rockefellers and the oyster. Rockefellers were horrible but everything else was really good. I had a steak and steak was awesome, but the Rockefellers were awful was.

Another fantastic experience at this restaurant always delicious and the service is truly spectacular I can't recommend this place enough they have practically everything and everything is cooked to how you want it perfectly.

We were here at New Year's Eve and they were packed. Our waiter was Connor and I don't think it's possible to have done a better job than this young man did. He was right on target with his recommendations, getting the food out rapidly, following back up with us to be sure everything was fine, and just being a good person. The food was really very good had no complaints about anything we ate. Would come back here in a second and highly recommend this place.

Wife and I visited you establishment on August 12th 23 upon arrival I was very impressed with the rustic look inside with a touch of modern day version we were greeted very promptly at the door conceited and got our drinks order very quickly we both had the U & I Mai Tai very delicious our server Giovanni was very friendly we had just arrived a little bit past the lunch special but went to bat for us and got us a lunch special anyway I had the fried oyster play she had the peppered steak or rice before that we had fried mushrooms as an appetizer and and accompanied the main entree was a soup and salad we both had the beef soup again unbelievably delicious the dressing that I had for my salad was a raspberry vinaigrette highly recommended and very delicious I highly recommend this establishment for anybody that is wanting great food and great service

The food here is mediocre at best and the service is definitely lacking. I have no idea why there was a wait for a table, definitely not worth it.

This place is great! The ambiance is nice but the food is outstanding, especially for the price! We tried their Italian wedding soup which was delicious and their steak and shrimp. Usually I don't like sirloin at steak restaurants because the meat is tough and dry... but this was the best sirloin steak I've had. It was juicy and cooked perfectly! Their mesquite grill was perfect for the steak and shrimp. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the bread which was cold and a little dry for my liking. If that was a fresh out of the oven bread it would be so much better. Will definitely be stopping here again.

Such a good place in Corpus Christi!! Amazing food, pretty decent service & a beautiful establishment! A bit pricey if you like seafood & steak but that's everywhere!

This past Friday the team accommodated my few class members and other members of our school for dinner. We were given additive table for all. The server was amazing and did the best she could to make sure everyone was served within a reasonable time being a large group. The manager was very accommodating and sweet to make sure we were comfortable and the food was good.

On March 23, 2024 a group of friends and myself went to eat lunch here. When we sat down we ended up with the RUDEST Waitress Ever ( kept talking down to us the whole time ). The Waitress's name is EIRINI , the food was real good but our Waitress made the whole experience just real bad & Very Uncomfortable. I wanted to ask for a Manager but 1 of my friends said please don't, I don't want to take a chance of them doing something to our food. So I didn't, when we got our bill I gave the waitress a $2.00 tip, the other friend gave her $1.50 and our 3rd friend gave her $3.00, the 4th friend gave her $6.00 since she used to be a waitress. I feel IF you do a Good job then you deserve a Great tip. FOUR Days later one of my friends called me and asked me to check my bank amount , cause she had checked hers and MORE had been added to the tip. Sure enough the waitress had added $3.00 more . I went to my Bank since I had thrown my copy of the receipt away, I asked for a copy of the transaction, they said that they can't do anything about it, I would have to But she told me what she did, that's called Forgery. You can call PD to see if something can be done about it. I went to the restaurant and spoke to the manager about the situation , very nice lady said the Owner wasn't in that day but she would be back the following day & she would let her know what happened. She also said Next time you come to eat here, you can Always ask to not be put in her area, I have told her before that she can't talk to our customers that way, So Obviously they are NOT going to do Anything to her. After 3 Days I Finally speak to the Owner & She's Upset with ME for Even mentioning bringing PD into it. She Did tell me that she could see that the Waitress had added more to her tip , So IF I want it back, to go in person and speak with her and she would give me the tip money back. MY ADVICE, If you go eat there, take Cash with you that way the Waitress Can't add More to your Tab. Without Your Consent.

First time in Corpus Christi and staying walking distance from U&I. Lyft driver recommended the place. I had tKe out. Food was very good, not great but VG. And the staff were kind and helpful. I had stuffed flounder and a Caesar's salad and soup. All good. Esp the fish. Kind of wish I had shrimp. Maybe tomorrow

Our dinner party of four adults visited this legacy restaurant on a warm windy Wednesday night. The parking lot was packed but inside there were many empty tables so we were seated immediately and we gave the hostess our drink orders. The menu is massive, containing steaks, seafood, salads, Mexican food, fried favorites and desserts. We ordered two ribeye steaks, one T-bone steak and one shrimp/oyster platter. The plates come with soup or salad plus a side (fries, baked potato, rice, broccoli, etc) and a basket of fluffy rolls. The salads were large and the house Green Goddess dressing was excellent. The steaks were tender and juicy, one of the best I've had in quite a while, I could cut it with my fork. It had a nice charcoal char on the outside and was cooked perfectly rare as requested. The shrimp and oysters were fried perfectly and were all large. The baked potatoes were ok but didn't seem quite done and they were lukewarm. The other couple in our party decided to select a dessert and chose the Chocolate Fudge Cake. They shared a massive piece of what appeared to be a pudding cake studded with white chocolate. They cleaned up every crumb. The service was friendly and fairly efficient even though our waiter forgot a few items but quickly made up the mistakes. Beer and wine are available as are mixed drinks from the full bar. It's easy to see why this restaurant has endured and remained popular since the 70s. Good food, reasonable prices and large portions! Total for three steak dinners, one seafood platter, three beers, one wine and a soda was $ 139.45 before the tip.

Chicken fried steak tasted like it was from a box. Very processed and was served with some sort of sweet brown gravy, not the cream gravy on the menu and normally served with a CFS. The fried oysters tasted old. The side were great though. Cauliflower was cooked perfect and the yams were delicious.

This place was mediocre. Waitress forgot a members drink. We ordered the appetizer sampler. The fried food was extremely fresh; however, the only flavor was oil. The batter for the mushrooms and jalapeño poppers was very bland. At least it was fresh. For my meal, I had the captains platter. The fried flounder was flavorless but the tartar sauce made it bearable. The mashed potatoes were inedible. The rive pilaf was mediocre at best. My wife had the crab stuffed flounder. It wasn't much to speak of, relative flavorless. The texture was great, but the seasoning was lacking. The fried scallops were phenomenal. The facilities are very clean. Despite old decor and ratty menus, the place feels clean and the waitstaff is mostly friendly. The original host scoffed when we requested seating for 9, that was unprofessional. Our specific waitress was friendly enough. I'm giving this place a 2 star review simply because cost to service is inadequate. For two plates, one sampler, one water, one tea, the bill shouldn't be $75 before tip. I don't mind paying $75, but the food needs to taste much better than what I received.

Ordered takeout. The baked potato was good, but the mesquite shrimp literally tasted like a hot dog! Never in my life had shrimp that tasted like that. Not good at all!! And the salad was lettuce with one grape tomato. For nearly $40 I was greatly disappointed and won't be going back.

Hadn't been here in several years. Noticed it was remodeled, great open concept. Great variety on menu to fit any budget. Service was prompt, food delicious. Will definitely be back more often.

This restaurant was recommended to us by another restaurant that had a 90 minute wait. The location was crowded but there was only about a 5 minute wait for a table. We ordered our food and it was delivered to our table within 20 minutes. We ordered a variety of food...rolls, salad, shrimp pasta primavera, stuffed shrimp, fried oysters, french fries, catfish fillets, chicken fried steak, and baked potatoes. The food was good and the customer service was friendly and helpful. We had a nice overall experience.

We spent New Years weekend relaxing in Corpus and were looking for some good seafood. We were a little hesitant to try U&I based on some mixed reviews we saw, but we gave it a go and were so happy we did!!! We had the Maryland Crab Cakes to start (hubby is from Northern Neck VA) and he gave them 2 thumbs up. We had the stuffed flounder & mahi mahi for entrees & finished off our meal with the chocolate explosion dessert. Our waiter was Connor & he was very attentive & gave great recommendations. We give U&I 10 out of 10. Portion sizes were outstanding, prices were good, service was top notch, and overall atmosphere was clean & friendly. It's not a famcy reataurant with candlelight, but it was everything we were looking for.

Hands Down Best Burger In Town 10 Out Of 10 Do It Again! Went with my Mom on Veteran's Day and will go there when I'm hungry for a great burger from now on for sure.

This restaurant had great service and is a great family restaurant, but the food is very low quality. The food just didn't have much flavor and nothing tasted fresh. Personally not sure if I would eat this food for free. Was very disappointed.

visited U & I restaurant in Corpus Christi. i when we arrived at the counter to check in with the hostess there was a young lady by the name of Summer takes your name down. She said she would not take my name down until she physically saw my whole party. we were only three. and I told her they were waiting in the foyer. She told me I needed to bring my Party to the podium before she even wrote my name down. we've been patrons of this restaurant for years. It's amazing when you give someone a little bit of authority how you get shot down like that and I'm really thinking about never coming back to this restaurant again.. She was rude. The owner/manager was there he said no that is not what we do here. we got seated at a table, our waitress name was Angie(was very nice) however she was not very attentive. When we were ordering, she would cut us off & leave the table before we even finish ordering.. She didn't bring me the tartar sauce that I asked for until we were all done with our meal . I'm shocked at the kind of bad service from the minute we walked into the door.. Very disappointed!

Wifey and I were in CC for the weekend and wanted to try something that wasn't a chain and saw a lot of good reviews about this place on Google. The only star I took off was the fact that the waiting area was a complete mess, in terms of layout and just people crammed in a small space. There wasn't any kind of waiting layout and people just stood around and are forced to wait inside as the man who took down names was not going outside to announce, he was just staying in the same spot, so if you waited outside, good luck trying to get your table. Besides that, the wait staff was very friendly and very attentive. Appetizers were great and once the food got out, it was fresh and delicious. Pricing was fair. Only other recommendations would be that the sides should be bigger. Wife's rice was enough for two spoonfuls and the fries I received with my steak, was less than a handful and fit on a small tea cup plate. And the lighting needs to be done properly in that place. Most of the bulbs are LED cool white and pointing in different directions, so looking up was straining the eyes, needs softer warmer lights and make it more cozy rather than a factory.
