Sweet Maple Brunch Restaurant Brings ‘Millionaire’s Bacon’ to Santa Monica | Eater LA

"I note that the Santa Monica Sweet Maple will feature select drinks from U Dessert Story, a Bay Area dessert spot that I’m told Choi is also a part-owner of, and that some of U Dessert Story’s colorful, decorated sweets may soon appear on the Sweet Maple menu." - Cathy Park

My friends and I enjoyed the ambiance, and the presentation of the desserts was visually appealing, as you can see from the pictures. However, the taste and overall quality didn’t quite meet our expectations; the desserts didn’t feel very fresh. Considering the price point, we felt there were better options available elsewhere. The service was fine, but nothing particularly exceptional given the gratuity that was charged.

We ordered 18 layer Crepe cake w coconut extra. One drink and a fried tempura. Food looks pretty but I think it’s really overpriced. Over $60. I think it’s way too pricey and the quality of service doesn’t match the food, plus we just self ordered w our phones

Today, I had a wonderful time with my friends! We indulged in some delicious treats, including Honey Brick Toast for $20.00, Tempura Shrimp for $13.00, Cheese Fries for $14.00, and a refreshing Thai Tea drink for $6.50 with lite ice. We also tried a delightful Fired Boba Brown Sugar for $7.50 and ended our meal with Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu for $22.00. Although the place was a bit bustling, we made the most of it by sitting at the counter. Sharing our food was a little tricky, but we managed just fine! The restaurant, while small, was beautifully decorated and exuded a cozy atmosphere that made our experience even more enjoyable. It was definitely worth it!

I've been to the one in San Francisco, so I expected this spot to be just as packed. To my surprise it wasn't, which is really nice. Busy but not packed. I wanted to show U :Dessert Story off to my husband, and he was impressed with the atmosphere, the cute set up, and the beautiful mural. We got a cake trio. It was all so delicious, the Thai was my husband's favorite, mine was all three (I'm not picky, he is). I totally recommend U :Dessert Story even for the little the Volcano Bingsu was a big hit with all four of my kids, the presentation is beautiful (we had this in Frisco). We'll definitely be back to try some of the drinks and food soon.

Very cute little shop to grab dessert at. It was very easy to walk in and get a seat, they immediately brought us water and informed us how to view the menu. We had the Double Fromage Lychee Cheesecake and the Hojicha Banoffee. The presentation was great and the flavor was really excellent. This is not a complaint, but the slices are big! The lychee cheesecake is Japanese style so very fluffy and light with a very flavorful lychee ice cream. The banoffee crust was perfectly browned and caramelized. Service was prompt and attentive even for just dessert!

What a great place to grab dessert! This place is popular, at least it was the night I went. This place was packed and did have a little short wait. But I understand why. The staff was efficient. But the food is where you get to brag. Their Milo cheese drink, flippin’ delicious, of course simple but with their spin, is awesome. I also tried my first brick toast, and I didn’t realize it would taste this good. You figure its only just toasted bread; how good could it be? But it was great as well. The Bingsu was top notch as well, the simplicity but all the add-ons make is flavorful ride. Crepe cakes slices are my favorite, love crepes and love thai tea. Even though we came for desserts, I did see they offer savory foods as well. As far as parking goes, I’m sure it’s busy depending on the day and time. I came to this place on scooter, so if you’re game, have fun on your way there and treat yourself to something sweet!

It was a quaint restaurant. I am very picky when trying new foods, but found that the menu was succinct enough to understand what was in each dish. I got the cheesecake sampler. I wish that there were tiers to the sampler, as I was just one person enjoying the sampler in my party, the portions were a little bit too large. It was good though and I will be back for the mango cheesecake at a later date.

The desserts were incredibly tasty and the quality was really good. Though it was crowded and a bit pricey, the unique and flavorful desserts made it a worthwhile special treat.
