U Eat & Sleep Antwerp

We were really looking forward to visiting U Eat & Sleep in Antwerp, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. From the very beginning, the manager — who was also acting as the waiter — gave us a cold and unfriendly welcome. When taking our order, we chose one entrecôte and two fillets, all requested well done. He repeatedly questioned our choice, insisting on “medium?” despite our clear explanation. When the dishes arrived, they were not served at the same time. The entrecôte was rare, one fillet was well done, and the other was medium rare. We therefore asked for the entrecôte to be cooked more (well done). This request triggered an unpleasant reaction: the manager started complaining and said the meat would become “like chewing gum,” using an inappropriate tone. When we also asked for the fillet to be cooked again, he became even more irritated and started raising his voice. After a second attempt, the entrecôte was still only medium rare. When we calmly asked why he was shouting, he began shouting again and made racist remarks, which is completely unacceptable. This kind of behavior seriously damages the image and values usually associated with the Michelin Guide. A major disappointment, both in terms of service and basic respect toward customers

Very disappointing experience. We had a misunderstanding about how the meat was cooked, which can happen in any restaurant. Unfortunately, instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager/waiter was extremely rude and dismissive toward us. There was no attempt to listen, explain calmly, or find a solution. Good service is about communication and respect, especially when an issue arises. Sadly, that was completely missing here. The attitude we received ruined the entire experience, regardless of the food itself. I would not recommend this place based on how customers are treated when something goes wrong. PS: this meat is supposed to be well done lol !

Absolutely unacceptable. The manager is rude, aggressive, and openly shouts at customers. Zero professionalism, zero respect. I have never experienced such behavior in any establishment. You are treated with more dignity in a shack than in this place. Completely disgraceful. Avoid at all costs.

Waiter started to take a phone call in the middle of taking our order. Drinks were good, but for roughly an hour no one came to the table after we got the first round of drinks. Apart from that friendly service.

An ideal place for the romantic evening! ✨ Tasty equisite food, very friendly personnel, nice quiet music and huge Windows overlooking MAS museum and the marine harbour! We really enjoyed the evening and recommend it!

The hotel itself is quite charming - the interior is pleasant, the food is genuinely good, and the location is beautiful. We did encounter a few minor issues in our room, like a missing shower door and a damaged showerhead, but these weren’t dealbreakers and wouldn’t normally warrant a complaint. Unfortunately, the overall experience was impacted by the service. To start, there were problems with our reservation. It was cancelled without any explanation, only to be later restored with a casual “it was a mistake.” We found out that our friends, who were also staying at the hotel, had similar issues with their bookings. Breakfast was another challenge. Since it’s not a buffet, guests have to pre-order and choose a time - we selected 9:00 AM. Despite that, all food we ordered didn’t arrive until just before 10:00. Unfortunately one (very sweet) staff member was doing everything - running the front desk, cooking in the kitchen, and serving tables. A second person eventually showed up, seemingly returning from the grocery store. Both of them were clearly doing their best and working extremely hard, but the system in place simply set them up to fail. It felt more like a DIY guesthouse than a well-run hotel. The most concerning part of our stay, however, was that someone entered our room at night - using a key. No one was hurt, but it was a deeply unsettling experience. We reported it to the front desk the next morning as no staff is present on-site at night. After a delay while they checked surveillance footage, we were told that the person who entered was a late-arriving guest who had been given a master key - one that opens all hotel rooms. Apparently, this is their standard procedure when guests check in after hours and no security guard is present. What concerned us even more than the situation itself was the attitude with which it was handled. It felt to me like the front desk staff acted like we were overreacting and brushed it off with simply an apology and a 3% discount - on a stay that was, by all accounts, quite expensive. The hotel is called U Eat & Sleep, but for us, it didn’t deliver on that promise.

Restaurant from red guide Michelin. Deserve quality. Friendly staff and open kitchen. Very nice terrace in front of the MAS. Oysters number 2 of very good quality. Nice fishes too. Very well decorated and luxurious. They also have couple of rooms in their hotel on top of the restaurant. They are surprisingly super quiet and peaceful will all the luxury equipments. To be recommended

The restaurant is extremely racist. You’ll be ignored for at least 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledges you. When the server finally approaches, he won't take your order. Instead of politely suggesting options, he will choose for you without asking just because they don't have excatly what you want. After that, you’ll wait another 30 to 45 minutes, watching as everyone else—both those who came before and after you—gets their food and drinks, while you, along with the only other couple of color, are left completely neglected.

Brand new designer hotel and restaurant in the hip area of 't Eilandje established by Chef Vicky Geunes from the infamous 't Zilte at the MAS museum. We started with a chicken Caesar salad followed by an entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce and rosti potatoes served in a separate "Le Creuset" skillet. The Caesar salad impressed with its presentation and delighted in taste, a small deviation from the classical Caesar salad but surprising in its flavours. The entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce was grilled to perfection, simply delicious ! "U" - as this restaurant is simply called - is a reflection of the Flemish polite form for "You" which is how someone is addressed when being polite. It is also a reference to something of high standard, meaning it should be addressed accordingly, hence the name "U" for this high class restaurant. More than class, it simply serves excellent food and wine. This establishment will soon be at the top of every respectable restaurant review list. Try it out before reservations are only available in the distant future and waiting lists are the norm of the day.

Nice little boutique hotel in Antwerp harbour. Tasty and contemporary decor and furniture. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but nice (mine had a great view over the harbour). A few details are tainting the experience tough, such as the coffee machine with a broken cover replaced by a home made aluminium foil, or strong harbour smells in the corridor
