The 28 Essential Prague Restaurants

"As Prague’s oldest pub (opened in 1499), U Fleků might be eternally crowded with tourists, but much like the city’s Cinderella-esque castle, it’s worth a visit for a mug of beer or two. The space boasts multiple dining hall areas, as well as an outdoor courtyard, so visitors can always expect to find a seat somewhere throughout the vast space. Among the hefty portions of famous Czech dishes, go for the country’s national dish, svíčková, which consists of a braised cut of beef served in a rich, dairy- and vegetable-based gravy, usually served with carrots, potatoes, cranberries, and (unsweetened) whipped cream." - Dan Clapson

"Drink Up at a Prague Institution With a history dating back to 1499, U Fleku is a Pragueinstitution and the only brewery and restaurant in Central Europe that has been brewing non-stop for over five centuries. Beer lovers, backpackeres and tourists come from all corners of the world todrink theirdark lager which is the only beer on the menu, made with all natural ingredients. The restaurant, serving traditional Czech and Bohemian cuisine – roast pork knuckle, garlic soup, apple strudel – includes eight beer halls (each with its own distinctive décor) and an inner beer garden that seats up to 500 people. Everyday U Fleků serves around 2,000 pints of beer. If you want to know more, they also have a brewey tour and a beer museum (reservations only) in the former malt house."

I absolutely loved everything about U Fleků — the food, the beer, the atmosphere, all were simply fantastic. The ribs were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the dark beer is a must-try! The place has a unique historic vibe and yet still very cozy. It was a so great experience in Prague in my opinion. I’ll definitely come back the next time!

Google
This place is traditional, and huge, and vibrant, and busy. The beer was top-notch. Easy to drink, and delivered frequently to the tables. The food was hearty, and tasty. Not the most exciting fare in the world. but filling, hot, and comforting. The atmosphere was convivial and friendly, but unfortunately somewhat spoiled by our table mate who wouldn't move off of discussing politics in his home country. I'm sure our next visit will have better company!

Robin

Google
Took some time to get them and wasn't the easiest to order drinks, two times they refered to another colleague and one time a guy just walked by with a tray full of beer, but once arrived their own beer was ice cold and simply delicious. The food was rustic and felt traditional and genuine, and the ambience with live accordion was nice. Kindly declined the 10% tip because of the problem with the drinks, but the staff still took some but not that much to argue about. Hope it goes to the guy with the accordion. Will probably visit again, though!

Google
Yes, a lot of tourists go there, but I found the food, beer and service to be very very good. I had pork with two kinds of dumplings and sauerkraut, and it was quite good. The beer of course was excellent. The service was quick and I found it to be Quite friendly.

Google
It is a historical place. One of the most famous bars/restaurants in Prague. The staff was nice and helpful and they serve the beer/spirit very quick, sometimes they just come to you and put the next drink on your table. But you have to pay for everything they do not do it for free. There is live music most of the time as well. A must visit when in Prague!

Google
I really don't know what should I write here. I am just completely mesmerized after visiting here... The food was awesome. The ambiance was too good. People's are enjoying Czech Beer and Food with live music. I will definitely visit here once again. I can come here once again just for this. You can just sit there with beer or shots and you will be happy. I tried Moravian Sparrow, I really enjoyed it.

Google
Amazing atmosphere. Feels like an old tavern style restaurant. There are people singing and playing instruments. The food is delicious and the beer tastes great. Would definitely recommend this place.

Evgeni Peter

Google
Indeed an historical place. Most of the time you will find a spot on a table, also you might be seated next to someone else, but that is fine. The food is authentic and tasty. The only downside we found was that they serve the beer/spirit drink super quick, because there is always a runner with a tray of beers or spirit drink, you can see that the beer wasn't poured 1min ago, something a bit longer and they also try to convince you to have another round. If you are not aware some of the tourists might consider this as a welcome drink (the way they approach you and ask you to try it) but it is not for free and you might get surprised.

Yelp
One of the oldest beer tavern in town! Got the medieval tavern vibe for sure with musician singing. The staffs were a bit offended when I asked for Diet Coke in the beginning. I ended up deciding to try the beer and got drunk right away;). The food was so amazing especially the bread dumplings. Still craving them to this day. A superb experience!

Yelp
It's the oldest and most famous brewery in Prague, established in 1499. They are known for their dark beer. The complex of buildings includes, many dining halls, a beer garden, a cabaret theatre. They seat 1200 people! They also have roving musicians, so there's always music in every area. They only have two beers and they walk around with them on trays and just drop em off on your table, they also walk around with trays full of brandy shots. We had one of each beer (even though they kept trying to drop off more) and one of each shot (and yep they kept trying to drop those off too). For dinner we ordered the goulash and Greek salad. The beef in the goulash was tender and the rich gravy it was served in was delicious; it also came with bread dumplings? There were four slices of doughy bread that were great for getting all of the gravy. The beer was good, the food was good.. a bit touristy of course but when in Rome.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch as it's the oldest brewery and had a lot of expectation, but it was decent. Order the beer with the beer staff (the ones carrying the drinks) and food is ordered with the other staff members. The beer guy brought dark beers, but I declined and had to wait to order the light beer. They all assume you drink dark and if you don't, you get the funny look. I got the knuckle, but here, the skin was soft and not crispy like other places that I had it. The meat was tender and I enjoyed it at lot, but wasn't fan of the pork skin, but it is what it is. The other food items were decent as well.

Yelp
This has to be on your list of places to visit if only for the drinks! It's a fun vibe -crowded but lively with the music and continuous trays of beer moving throughout. Right when seated the servers come around for drink orders but they're usually holding a tray of shots. Definitely start off with one or two of those. We didn't have a meal here but I couldn't pass on the dessert. Our table neighbor had the cheesecake and I'm a sucker for cheesecake so I couldn't resist. Glad I tried it as it was delicious. U Fleků is an institution. You have to go at least once.
google avatar

Yelp
Iconic beer garden. Large menu of traditional dishes. Servers stroll the area with trays of shots and beer-light and dark. Communal seating. Ambiance outdoor setting indoors.
google avatar

Nasif H.

Yelp
Stopped here because we heard this was one of the oldest breweries in the world. Outdoor area was beautiful and this was by far one of our fav meals in Prague. Made all the girls in our group become fans of dark beer. Service could be better, but that's most places in Prague, so we were used to it.

Roy and Rebecca H.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere with lively music! Beer and food were both great. Waiters wander the pub with trays of light and dark beer and another with a tray full of shots! Really fun place!
google avatar

Gloria T.

Yelp
It's a historical place. It's pretty big with a couple of dining room. There is a long shared table in one of main dining room. They have live music. Everyone is served with beer, whether you ordered or not. Their beer is malty, light and easy to drink for someone like me that doesn't drink alcohol. Good food. Reasonable price. Great service.

Lily C.

Yelp
Awesome place to visit! I came here for drinks with friends and this brewery is like no other. The place is huge with countless rooms, a beer garden, and over 1000 seats. This is one of, if not the oldest brewery in Prague starting in 1499! The architecture is stunning and the staff was super nice. I also like how they have a spot where you can buy merchandise. I didnt have food but it smelled amazing, can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Just fabulous. Low key family restaurant. Delicious food, traveling beer Stewart to make sure you never run out - tuba and accordion players just add to the ambiance. When in Prague you must eat here!
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
Very old, traditional brew pub with a great beer garden. Only 2 types of beer and relatively typical Czech food options (though they have small salads and some vegetarian selections, this is not elevated cuisine). Nice stop on a summer afternoon to enjoy the ambiance.
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
We forgot to take pics‍ what we shared was the potato soup, beef in cream sauce and the sparrow pork dish...all very good but man that soup! And of course the beers and shots and all around fun staff and beautiful atmosphere make this stop a must!
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe! You can't NOT go here when visiting Prague. Good food, good service, and amazing music. Grab a seat at one of the king tables and dig in!
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
Great environment. Lots of fun . Went here in 1990 and it didn't disappoint in 2023. Food is good enough but the drinks more then make up for it . If it's nice sit in the courtyard outside

Yelp
Amazing old Brewery in Prague! The Dark Beer was my favorite.. and be sure to ask about a tour! Their beer they brew is only served in their restaurant.. so definitely an experience!!

Jeff S.

Yelp
We went to this place because of its historic nature. The food was reasonable, though no better or worse than a lot of other places we'd visited: the "Moravian sparrow" (pork) was your standard Czech "meat-in-sauce over dumplings" and a Greek salad. Americans be advised: lettuce is not necessarily the base of a salad (this was cucumbers, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers, and feta cheese). One warning: they assume that anyone going to a 15th century beer pub is there to...drink beer. Their servers go around with trays of beer and their default is that unless you tell them no, you don't want another beer, they'll put one in front of you. No complaints, but if you intend to do anything later...

Yelp
I noticed most of the reviews saying that the restaurant is a tourist trap, mainly because they encourage you to take drinks. We were offered a lot of drinks but declined when we didn't want any more and had no problem. I didn't think they were overly pushy. I had the pork knuckle, which was delicious. Although it was my first pork knuckle, and I can only compare it to NC and Texas BBQ, it seemed to be perfectly cooked. Juicy, tender, fall off the bone, etc. Paired with mustard and horseradish along with chopped cabbage and pearl onions, it was great. My girlfriend got the goulash, which was also good in my opinion. I had a couple of the dark lagers, which may have been one of the best dark lagers I've had, although my experience with them is limited. Overall I thought the restaurant was really cool, we had live tuba and accordion music played in our section of the dining hall and the vibes were upbeat and fun. Overall spent about 1000 cz, which isn't bad for that sort of meal. Would definitely visit again,

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend and we were disappointed. The food was ok but the service was grumpy. After we were seated, we were offered Czech liqueurs which seemed to be on the house but were charged for them. One was awful and when we told the waiter, he was rude. He then asked for a 10% tip. I caution everyone to be aware: this a tourist trap.I thought we were being ripped off.

Yelp
Suggested by a friend this restaurant and brewery is the oldest in Prague. Fabulous dark beer and a variety of options would make this a great lunch or dinner location. The servers were doing a good job and offered suggestions on drinks/ foods We were there just for drinks, sadly no cider on tap.

Yelp
U Fleků is the oldest brewery & pub in Prague, having been around for over 500 years. It's still filled with medieval style beer halls with great atmosphere. We were welcomed by an older gentleman upon entering this famous pub, and promptly seated in an area with a musician playing accordian. Only one beer is on tap, and it's their special dark lager that's been brewed since 1499. The unique taste is quite interesting, and you can't go wrong with this original brew. Conveniently, mugs of beer are brought forth to tables by a waiter making the rounds. Also, their traditional Czech food was surprisingly well-prepared. The roast pork and beef goulash were both tender with a good balance of flavors. Given its popularity with locals and tourists, expect to pay menu prices that are a little more than typical in town. The waiters didn't speak much English and seemed less cheerful than the host, but it didn't affect our good visit here overall.

Alan W.

Yelp
Ok so this place is a must see in Prague. It is the oldest restaurant and is very unique. The food is ok but it is worth drinking and and having a shot or two. They bring beers along whether you want them or not so be careful. We came in the winter but the beer garden would have been amazing if it was warmer. One note...don't get the beer cheese. But everything else was decent.

Prudence W.

Yelp
The food and drinks at this place are fine. The problem is that they seem to intentionally cheat. We did not take any of the shots that they brought around. Still they charged us for 2 shots. We told the cashier that it was a mistake since we didn't take any shot. He refused to take that off the bill and said that was "service charges".
google avatar

Casey T.

Yelp
Pretty tourist trap place if you ask me This place seems like it was designed to suck money out of its patrons. Waiters kept coming around with trays of beer and other beverages for guests to take and immediately wrote down the drinks on the bill as soon as they were touched. One of the waiters lingered at our table even after we declined more drinks and basically forced us to take more because "it's tradition". The food is like any other food you can get at the dozens of Czech places around. I was also surprised to find that there was someone collecting money at the restroom, as typically restaurant bathrooms are free of charge since you are paying to eat there. Would not recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
This is a fun place! You walking in the place smells like Czech food. As you wander through the various rooms on the way to your table which are long communal tables, you will see lots of people drinking beer and doing shots and a guy playing the accordion so that everybody can sing along, except me because I don't speak the language. Whoops. So in our visit the place was totally packed, the menu is quite limited but they do what they do very well. I think we ordered basically one of everything and it was plenty of food. The beer cheese is not what you think it is it's more like a cheese spread and you have to rub a piece of raw garlic on your toast first before you put the beer cheese on. Makes for a stinky day but the flavor is pretty good. All the food that we tried had good deep flavors. They put this little paper on the table and every time you order drinks they just mark it on the paper and you take that paper up to the register to pay. They serve one kind of beer the kind they make there and it's dark and flavorful. So that's what you drink because that's what everybody drinks. By the way it's cheaper than a bottle of water which comes in like a six or 8 ounce glass bottle for like three bucks. They also have a person walking around with trays of shots they have two kinds of shots and I can't remember exactly what they are however one was like a honey mead liquor and the other was some kind of herbal Liqueur which tasted like medicine but apparently is quite popular. Yeah I won't be drinking that one again. The honey mead shot one was very sweet but not too bad. There's a lot of history in this place, it's on the walls, it's in the people that frequent the place, it's in the building it's self, it's quite a remarkable place and you shouldn't miss checking this place out. By the way did I mention it was open in 1499?

Yelp
You "gotta" see this place and enjoy a beer like others have for 100's of years. Food isn't any good, at all. Beer is delicious and strong.

Yelp
Last week, my bf and couple of friends came here, it was my first visit in Prague. My friends and my bf have been here before and love this place. It has great food, environment and music. The restaurant is 800 yrs old. We were seated right away. The waiters come around with trays of beers (although they only have one kind, my friends says they were delicious). They also come around with shots. The food was amazing. I love their Pork Knuckle and Cheese bread. The atmosphere is so fun and authentic. There is an accordian player playing all day with short breaks. Definitely worth checking out!

Saitej E.

Yelp
Drinks are served by the table with out ordering. Can choose between dark and light beer. The beer garden had a open table with common seating and under trees. Food was good, I had sparrow, which was delicious and cooked well
google avatar

Elisa R.

Yelp
My mother and I had such an amazing experience here. We sat in the beer garden area. The food was absolutely delicious, and if we come back to visit Prague we'd definitely come here again. The service wasn't what we were used to, because you need to find the waiter to order, but other than that, it was great! Beer is a MUST here. You need to come here to relax, have good food, and just have a great time. If you're looking for all the above, this is your spot. It was difficult at first to find a place to sit, simply because it was JamPacked, but I'm happy we waited! Very old restaurant, BUT doesn't look 'old'. The vibes are hella chill. The food is super flavorful. The atmosphere is super cheerful. I'm extremely happy we bumped into this place!

Yelp
It's a bit crowded, and touristy, but I loved this place! It's the oldest brewery/brewpub in Prague, since 1499! This place churns out a dark beer, which tastes a lot like Shiner Black 97, if you're from Texas, you know what I mean. It's a delicious beer, not too strong. While you're eating, they come around and sell shots of honey wine, which is strong, sweet, and floral. The entire time I was here, they had accordion players working in shifts, wandering around taking requests, jamming out, and just playing random polkas. The tourists seem to be seated in the back Cabaret room, with communal seating, and the locals are seated in an old wooden room up front. This place is so iconic, they have a little gift shop up at the front! While there, be sure to check out the restrooms. There's a woman in a little room with a small window that maintains the men's restroom and accepts gratuities for the restroom cleanliness. The food is prepared quickly! I ordered pork neck and it was served with sauerkraut, horseradish and mustard. Delicious! The food was generously portioned, especially since I had gotten the appetizer size.

Yelp
1499...beer...shots...great food What more can we ask for. This place gives you that Czech experience.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
Very cool beer hall/brewery with outdoor beer garden that has local vibes. Food was traditional Czech cuisine and just okay. The beer was great and only 2.30 USD a glass, which is incredible, waiters kept bringing since there was only one type. The type of place where strangers started singing along with accordion players during their meal. Would go back but for the experience/beer and not the food!

Alejandra B.

Yelp
Good food, nice atmosphere, close to the river and old town. Can't go wrong with goulash and all other delicacies. It is really good for families.
google avatar

Mala L.

Yelp
5 stars for the beer and atmosphere. We didn't go for food. I really enjoyed U Fleků, we went because it was highly recommended. The beer is outstanding, for sure the best dark beer I've ever had. They only serve their ONE beer that they brew and it's amazing. It's overpriced (59 CZK or $2.67), which is double, almost triple the price of beer that you'd get anywhere else in Prague, but worth it! You barely even have to order it because the waiters walk around with a giant tray of about 20 filled glasses, handing them out. And they keep a tally on your table with how many you've had. Simple and perfect since there's only one option. The place is huge, multiple beer halls with tons of communal seating. We sat outside in the garden and it was so fun and beautiful. Music, people dancing, lively atmosphere for sure. Can't comment on the food because as I said, we didn't go for that, just the beer. But from what I saw, it was typical Czech cuisine. Definitely would recommend, and if I find myself in Prague again, I will go back!!

Yelp
TOURIST TRAP - stay away! Seriously this is the type of place I hate going to whilst traveling, but I was told about it by four or five people who swore that while the place wasn't the best for food the beer was worth a quick stop for the experience. Eh, I would beg to differ. Sat at a large table with a bunch of other people (only redeeming quality) and was able to speak with a great Greek couple. The service is overly aggressive for really bad beer. Drank one pint and before I could get down to the second half of it was asked 5x if I wanted another one. The guy going around serving shots was also really rude. He asked me if I wanted one several times I said I was fine and not only did he keep asking me, but he was mocking me in the process for saying no thanks. Eh pass this place - walk around the corner and find a nice little cafe with better beer, great food, and less aggressive service.
google avatar

Alicia-Nick S.

Yelp
It is old, traditional, and a tourist trap. I usually avoid these places like the plague, but the beer....oh goodness the beer. It is cheap and amazing. They bring it to you as quick as you can drink it and then tally it on a little sheet of paper like a prisoner counting down days to your freedom. Thats just it you have your freedom and it comes in a dark, unfiltered, and creamy glass of amazing. The meals on the other hand are nothing to write home about. Just come here and drink. Few key points: - family style seating - tally on your table with a little sheet of paper - skip the shots - busy as all get out - old; oldest in fact
google avatar

Tammy N.

Yelp
Where do I begin... all the tourists are put in the back room and locals in the front of restaurant. They come to your table right away pushing beer and honey wine. We asked for 3 different things on the menu and they no longer offer them - change and update it ! They food is mass produced, and was served in 5 minutes but it was barely warm and pork was fatty, duck was dry , and beef was tough. Live accordion music pleasant- the building itself is unique considering it's the oldest restaurant in Prague - over 600 yrs old. I'm sure at some point it was a great place, but I think it's just a tourist trap now :(
google avatar

Yelp
I love the cute decorations at U Fleků! This restaurant has a huge interior. I know of several people who got lost finding their way back to the correct dining room after their washroom break haha. I believe the main focus of this restaurant is on their local beers. It is like watching a show when the waiter comes in with 15+ beers stacked on the tray - one glass is already heavy, imagine 15+!! We had a great experience here. We loved how there was the live music during our dining experience. HAM & SALAD (4/5) I loved the ham! It was salty and was a great pairing with the salad. They did not add salad dressing with it so the ham was the main focus for flavouring. SAUSAGE, DUCK CONFIT, PORK SLICE, SAUERKRAUT, BREAD (4/5) The duck confit wins the show. It was marinated very well with the thick gravy sauce. Its meat was tender and juicy. Wish there was more! The pork slice wasn't my favourite. It was dry and hard to chew on. The sausage had a flavour on its own - more on the salty side. VANILLA CAKE with whip cream (3/5) We were stuffed by the time our dessert arrived but there is always room for desserts! The cake was very sweet. It would've tasted better if they made the texture of the cake more soft. * small cup of ESPRESSO to end off our meal.

Traci A.

Yelp
Continuously brewing beer and serving food for 500 years! The most fun we had all week in Prague--they keep bringing dark or light beer until you beg them to stop! Accordionists wander and it's a very joyful scene. Not to be missed.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
Felt like a tourist trap. We were practically forced to take shots upon arrival. Then dark beers were placed in front of us without us ordering. Setting is nice in a historic building. Would not recommend. There are too many other good pivo destinations in Prague.

Yelp
"Sin writes histories, goodness is silent." ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe The sprawling building of U Fleku Brewery which houses 8 beer halls and a beer garden has been in continuous operation since the year 1499. That is not a typo: 1499. Let's think about that for a minute. It would be another 44 years before Copernicus would publish a paper stating his theory that the Earth was not at the center of the universe. Leonardo DiVinci was busy inventing things, and whisky had just been invented in Scotland. The walls here ooze with history. When you walk through the door, you take a step back in time. Long wooden tables span the length of the beer halls. Stained glass light fills the rooms. The smells of traditional Czech cooking and the signature beer which is brewed on-site (available nowhere else in the world) immediately put you at ease. An accordion player wanders the rooms adding even more atmosphere to a place that already overwhelms with old-world charm. The beer is delicious and the garlic soup is unique. Large, thick slices of dark bread are served to sop up the last of your meal. The business runs like clockwork - a waiter walks by with trays of beers so you just grab what you want and a piece of paper in the middle of the table gets an extra hash mark for each beer taken. Another waiter will be by at some point to offer a shot glass of bitters as a digestive - this is the one thing I'd avoid if I had it to do over. You're going to see a lot of tourists here, but don't let that dissuade you - it's a lot of fun and you will meet interesting people to chat with at the communal tables.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Local pub with solid food and beer. Love the friendly bench sitting and staff.

Yelp
My first visit to this establishment was back in 1990, just shortly after the Velvet Revolution. At that time, it was still in the hands of the Czech government (if memory serves). We were told, during that visit to Prague, THIS was the place to get beer. And boy were they right! With our return to Prague this year, going back to U Fleku was at the top of my list of things to do - and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is a huge complex of rooms! We were directed to a room right off the entrance where an accordion was playing and a large group of young men singing. It certainly was a lively scene! Without being asked, a waiter deposited beers on the table in front of us! Well, that IS why we came, so we all hoisted our glass. This beer is a dark, velvety, almost chocolaty, beverage. If I had more time in Prague, I would have stayed and savored a couple, but with such limited time, we settled for one. If you are a drinker of beer, stopping by this brewery/restaurant, making this beer for 500 years, is well worth the trip!

Yelp
Stay away...many much better pubs (eateries) in this town. This was a place recommended by a colleague who was a Czech citizen from Prague. He told us he visits family here yearly and this place serves good traditional Czech food. We placed this restaurant as an itinerary item trusting his recommendations. If we hadn't already had three days worth of varying style of Czech meals, to include several "traditional" meals, we would have thought Czech food was really bad. Wife and I both ordered the 150 gram roast pork with cabbage, potato dumplings, and bread dumplings. It was bad. Best part of my plate was the cabbage. Actually, the best part was the rye bread they severed at the beginning of the meal...a big basket full with no bread plates or butter. I was hungry and forgot they would charge me for the bread as a separate item. Pork was dry, tough, and flavorless. Bread dumplings were almost hard like refrigerated bread...which I think it was. They sell pre-made bread dumplings in sausage like rolls of them here at the local super-markets (refrigerated sections). Definitely did not taste house made (meaning fresh). The potato dumplings were warm and had a somewhat better texture. I ate just one of those. With the just two ¼ inch thick (thin) wedged shaped slices of pork and the one slice of potato dumpling, I used up all the gravy. You think at least they would give you enough gravy for the two potato and three bread dumplings. They went cheap even on the gravy. Real Czech pubs have that dumpling/sauce ratio down to a science...they give you enough, but too much...when you take your last bite of dumpling, your plate will be clean of gravy or sauce. I can live with bad bar food...had plenty in my times. But now why this place gets only one star. It is the beer, service, unsolicited items, and the high price of everything. The size of the beer served is only .3l if even that. Lots of foam and when settled, only about glass full, at most. It also cost 58 kc. Most pubs charges 35-45 kc for .5l glass. The beer is a good dark beer with a light smokey hint. Drinkable...but will not go out of my way to pay this high price for this beer. We ended up paying 700 kc (670 rounded up to 700) for 2 orders of the 150 g roast pork, two glasses of beer, two shot of the honey schnapps, and likely the basket of bread which we ate only two slices from. This is definitely a tourist trap. It is decorated for photo opportunities, but none of the wait staff seems to support lookey-loo type activities. Not offered to take photos...for a rough gruff Czech pub attitude, they charged way too much. To their credit, they did try to be more tourist friendly and liven up the place. During our meal, two separate guys showed up playing accordions and singing badly for our entertainment. Good attempt, but failed very badly. Last...why only 30 kc as tip. The waiter made the point of saying "service" is not included. For him treating me like a local with local service, I tipped him like a local. Local Czech don't tip and at best, round up to the nearest 100 kc. Again, don't come here...

Yelp
This place has become one of my favorite places. Whenever I have friends over, I always try to take them out to Fleku. Fleku gives the vibe of authentic Czech food and beer. It is very touristy but totally worth checking it out. One of the oldest building in Prague since 1499. Decor is very traditional and clean. Beer is amazingly good! It has a dark smooth taste and from what I've heard beer contains 13 percent alcohol. I felt buzzed after just two beers. I also tried one of the honey shots from a tray, It was pretty good. While you drink and eat, a man walks around the restaurant playing music. Makes it a little more fun! This place is definitely on a little expensive side, but well worth trying it.

Yelp
We were warned so hard about tourist traps but had so many recommendations from locals to try this place, so we did. I was basically one stop short of licking my plate. I enjoyed how they walked around with beer and shots, it made it easy to get a new drink anytime you wanted. The feel is warm, loud, welcoming, and fun. We sat with strangers community style and made friends. Also very cheap, for 2 full meals, a dessert, 2 beers and a shot, plus a nice tip, we spent 818czk

Yelp
I've been here on 2 separate trips, and it's still one of my favorite beer halls. It's family style seating, and the first time I came I was seated next to a group of Czech couples (all 60+). It was such a cool experience meeting them, there was a language barrier, but they ordered for us so we could get the Czech food they liked. Best food: goulash (surprise). Red cabbage. Get an extra side of horseradish because it's perfect. Goulash comes with potato dumplings (they taste like big doughy biscuits). Drinks: There's one type of beer, and the wait staff just comes and replaces it every time your glass is empty. They keep track of the amount of beers you've had by tallying a piece of paper. Only bad thing is they can tell when you're a tourist and they pretty much force you to buy a shot of their honey drink (I think it was mead?) The waiter brings a tray of it, holds it in front of your table and doesn't leave until you take it. If you come at a busy time, they have accordion players come around to the tables. If you're lucky and sitting in a room with Czech people, the whole room starts singing traditional Czech songs. If it's raining, U Fleku is a good place to come sit inside and wait out the bad weather. If it's nice out, there's a beer garden to sit in.

Yelp
We came here since this place is in every tourist brochure. It was run like and resembled a huge Disney world restaurant. You sit down anywhere and are ushered and offered beer (everyone gets the same thing) as well as beer shots (they are very pushy with this but keep saying no!). The service wasn't that great and after our beers we decided to get going and not even try the food.

Yelp
Amazing food, atmosphere, service, and beer!! Walked in the door to be seated in a beautiful, old fashioned wood paneled restaurant. Had the house beer which was incredible! Very smooth and sweet with lots of flavor. Complemented the food very well. Ordered the Fleck's treat which had bread and potato dumpling, red and white cabbage, and pork loin, sausage, and roasted duck. The duck was INCREDIBLE. Probably the best I've ever had. Very well cooked with amazing seasoning. The pork loin was very tender and flavorful. Finished the meal with a delicious apple strudel. The cinnamon whipped cream was the perfect touch and the pastry itself was a wonderful blend of sweet and tart. Absolutely loved the honey mead shots that were brought out by the waiters. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone that visits!

Yelp
Ugh such a tourist trap. The overall food and dining experience was fine, but there were elements of it that I think anyone who just goes in looking for a meal should be aware of. When you first walk in, people overwhelm you by offering shots and beer. Logically, I should have known that the shots were not free, but the way they just come in and ask you which one you want makes it seem like it's free. But it's not. It's absurdly expensive (85 kc), and they're really really good at giving you more and more. Once you finish a cup, someone is right there about to offer you another, and it's actually pretty hard to turn them down because the waiters are really aggressive about forcing one into your hand. I think my biggest issue with this place, and perhaps it's just the result of a culture shock, is how disdainful they are of you not getting their beer. U Fleku has their own beer and it's pretty delicious, but it was frustrating because I came with friends who were sick and some of them just wanted water instead of alcohol but the waiter was extremely unwilling to give them the water (ironic given the fact that water is more expensive than beer and they would be profiting). Beyond this, the food was alright. Typical Czech food but clearly marked up at the tourist prices. I ordered a chicken which came with very delicious potatoes and a gravy like sauce. It was also nice to have just plain steamed vegetables rather than red cabbage or something. tldr; such a tourist trap, wouldn't really recommend unless you just want to come because it's the oldest pub (supposedly open in 1499!)
