Google
The food was really really good and the service as well. Better than most barbecue. You cant go wrong stopping by here.

This little place has been around forever by looking at the trophies and ribbons. It was well worth the stop. You never know where you'll find good food and wonderful people

Google
The brisket is fantastic here! It's so tender that the cheap plasticware is enough to cut through using the fork! The flavor is different from the other briskets I've had and the sauce used with it gives a bit of punch. Then we get to the sides. The home fries are dangerous. I had a pile, but I want more! The slaw has a bit of a twist in it with the addition of the pickle. If you've only eaten slaw like you get at KFC, it's a bit jarring. It wasn't bad, but I'm going to try something else for my second side.

Google
Had a pulled pork and a brisket sandwich. Both were amazing. Tender, juicy, and the perfect amount if smoke. The baked beans were good but that potato salad is by far the best I've ever had!! And I am a potato salad connoisseur. Leslie was there and greeted us, we loved her interactions with the customers asking each one how was their food/experience. Very impressed!! This is a must stop. We'll be back!!! Mobile, Alabama heading to Iowa.

Google
Great service, friendly staff. Best Bbq brisket this side of the Mississippi River. If you ever in Yazoo City, do yourself a favor and stop at Ubon's.

Google
Rode 250 miles to eat Sunday lunch at the famous Ubon's. To my surprise they were not open. Their website and Google say open Sunday from 11 to 2. Very disappointing. What's up?

Google
Food was pretty good. REPLY TO OWNER: We had to clean our own table due to only one server and there were dead flies on the table. The flies were aggressive because they flew on my food when I was about to eat it. My daughter had to stop me from eating or I would have eaten the fly. If you can get rid of the flies, you deserve 5 stars.

Google
Maaaan this is the place right here. Ubon's bbq is one of the best in the business. I got to try just about everything and it was A MA ZING!! I love this place, they just treat you right here. I promise you won't have one thing you won't like. Mississippi Meat Mafia Competition bbq team loves Ubon's!!! #Mississippibbq #Mississippistrong

Yelp
My chicken leg and thigh tasted scorched burnt and dry! My smoked fried wings were tiny dried out burnt, jerky and tuff! My sides were tasteless and bland! The greens were nasty and mushy! The lima beans were bland. The rice was sticky, mushy and tasteless. The gravy had a snotty texture. The cornbread was hard and crumbly! The service wasn't that good they seem unhappy and out of energy.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've stopped in. I was passing through Yazoo City last week and pulled into the parking lot only to discover they weren't open. However, I've eaten here many times in the past. Ubon's is some of the most flavorful BBQ around. The service is usually a little slow but the wait is always worth it. My favorite is the brisket and pulled pork

Wade P.

Yelp
Great food! Fried Chicken, Rib Tips, Pulled Pork sandwich, fried okra, corn nuggets, and awesome Blackberry Cobbler!

Yelp
Use your own bar-b-que sauce. The food is delicious love the Ambience it pays off you get your money worth

Yelp
The smoky flavor, the sauce, the potato salad....... Ubon's does not disappoint. No fuss atmosphere. Catering available.

Yelp
Stopped by for a to-go lunch as I was heading home. Got the sausage platter with sides of black-eyed peas and fried green tomatoes. I got a heap of really good tasting grilled sausage with just a light coating of sauce. They gave me extra sauce on the side which I really liked as I don't care for my BBQ to be swimming in sauce. The Black-eyed peas were good nothing spectacular though. But those fried green tomatoes...they were the best I have ever eaten! Perfectly seasoned and still firm not mushy! I could have eaten those as a meal by themselves!!! I will definitely stop again next chance I get!!

Jodi R.

Yelp
I can't speak for the restaurant or the food as I've never been. However, the Hot and Spicy Bloody Mary Mix is amazing! It's the best! If its not available in a store near you, order it! On top of the quality of the mix, the customer service is incredible. They were very gracious in sending me additional bottles of mix at their expense and free of charge when correcting an error very clearly on my end. I highly recommend their mix to everyone we know and I can't say enough about the customer service! Thank you so much for your product and your respect for the customer!

Yelp
3.5 Stars After my first visit to Ubon's - I'm having mixed feelings on our experience. Love watching this local family on TV compete and pave a path in national barbecue competitions. They are fun and clearly love what they do - so I was excited to finally get some Ubon's championship grub. We started with the Sausage Sampler, which was three pieces of smoked sausage sliced down the middle and grilled to perfect. It was hot, juicy and with a little Ubon's sauce (that sits on each table) absolutely delicious. Next time I might just ask for that sausage on a bun and call it a day. For my lunch I ordered the BBQ Nachos. Wasn't sure if it was gonna be beef, pork or chicken - but was glad when it game out with pork. A large plate of good tortilla chips sprinkled with their dry rub and generously topped with good ole cheese sauce and pulled pork. The pork was juicy, but couldn't really taste the smokiness since it was under the cheese sauce. They were tasty. I wish they would put the pork on top and just ads one more element - some beans maybe? Hubs ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, green beans and sweet potato. The sweet potato was the smallest sweet potato I'd ever seen. The green beans were tasty. And the ribs were good, but lacked flavor. Hubs said he thought they were warmed up in the microwave. (We did hear a microwave go off - but I assumed it was my nacho cheese sauce.) Great service and tasty food - just expected a little more. Will definitely give it another try!

Yelp
Delicious BBQ. Fantastic service. We love our Ubon's! We order their BBQ options for parties and family meals. Always our favorite!

Yelp
I waited in line at Ubons at the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago. It was later in the evening and they were running low on food, but no problem. I got rung up by what looked like a 10 year old kid, paid for my pulled pork sandwich and then waited on the side for them to serve it to me. While I was waiting a group of girls came and ordered after me. All of them received a sandwich and everyone working there was shouting they were out of food. I paid for my sandwich already and the group of girls who paid after me got served while I never received any food. I do not recommend eating here as their customer service is terrible.

Yelp
Rustic place right on the main road. Sit anywhere when you go in. Very nice staff. Delicious brisket, moist, deeply smoked and tender. I crown it the best brisket in the southeast part of the state. The down side, the sauce was very thin and tasted like sweet vinegar. The seasoned fries were tossed in flour and lightly seasoned. Would not get them again, they cooled quickly and the flour held grease. The regular fries were perfectly fried, I recommend them. I had them put the slaw on the side, I am glad I did. The slaw was vinegary too, plus, slaw doesn't belong on a brisket sandwich. The sweet tea was strong and my husband said it was delicious. I saw awards all over the place and am article on FoodNetwork Pit Master Challenge. I didn't read the articles, but they have righteous beef brisket. :-)

Brint L.

Yelp
Service was slow. They were out of more food than not; slim pickings. Mediocre BBQ. Stagnant atmosphere.

Beth M.

Yelp
I know these folks know bbq. Award winning! And the staff was super friendly. But..I was kinda skeeved out when a roach darted out from under my plate and fell on my lap and on the floor. I followed where it ran and realized it ran past another dead roach on the floor. After that, I kinda lost my appetite.

Nolen G.

Yelp
Most "championship" BBQ cooks can't pull off the quality they win championships with in a restaurant. Quantity is hard to follow up with quality. Ubon's is an exception. These folks put out great food all the time. Don't like BBQ? Try the plate lunch. Love burgers??? I do and Ubon's cooks them to order for only $5! One of the best things here is the sauce. Like most Mississippi sauces, Ubon's puts a bit of sweet in theirs but they balance it nicely with some sweet. I love a destination eat place and Ubon's fits the bill. It's not just BBQ it's GOOD eats. Check it out.

Chris B.

Yelp
Passing through and saw Ubon's and thought I'd give it a try, glad I did. This is every bit as good if not a tad better than those famous Kansas City, MO joints that I've eaten at.

Caroline S.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in the Delta. Besides the world-championship barbecue, don't miss the specials like the fried chicken (WOW) and meatloaf (WOW!) and pork chops (WOW!!). Greens, fries, green beans... everything you could want. Delicious!

Matt C.

Yelp
Can I give this 0 stars? Took over an hour to bring lunch out and the food was sub par and warm. This restaurant is off the highway in yazoo city, mississippi ( where?? exactly) and decided to try it out and let me tell you, I will never think of barbeque the same. Guys(and gals), unless you have time to spare and a stomach to upset, I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Holy cow! We have found true BBQ outside of Texas! Pulled pork beat out Jim Neely's. Their sausage itself is worth the drive from Dallas. But that's not all. We had burnt ends that could stand on their own in Lockhart, TX. The pork ribs were perfection. This place did not even appear on the radar, we just happen to see it as we were driving to Clancy's (by posted reviews was the best in town-NOT). After leaving Clancy's disappointed, we saw Ubons and tried it. The lady at the counter showed true southern hospitality. She was just as nice as she could be. As a Texan that is used to phenomenal BBQ like, Louie Muellers, Blacks BBQ, City Market and the like, this place was a slice of BBQ heaven! If you are ever within 200 miles of Yazoo. STOP FOR UBON! #BBQtour

Chad D.

Yelp
Pulled Pork is one of the beat I've ever eaten. Seasoned fries were unique and good eats. No matter what you have to try the Ubon's sauce amp n the table. If anything was a little disappointing, they had no greens the day we visited. I'd be curious how good they would be! Staff is so nice, inside of building has that great BBQ place feel.

Shelly P.

Yelp
Neat roadside bbq joint. Personable staff that greeted us and waited on us. She kept our drinks filled and made sure the food was to our liking. The restroom is clean. The prices are really reasonable. I got a lunch special that came with 2 sides and dessert for $6.95. The food tasted homemade and was served quickly. Great place to eat!

Sandra G.

Yelp
Amazing little whole in the wall Mom & Pops restaurant. Fried Catfish was the special and it was delicious. Light Cornmeal Crust deep fried fillets that were fresh, moist and delicious. It came with the house fries which they made and dipped in a light batter that made the outside crispy and the inside nice and soft. Just PERFECT. Nothing tasted greasy. Also tried the rib sampler. Dry rubbed delicious. You can get them sauced if you prefer. This one is one for the books and when we drive back thru it is a MUST stop in Yazoo, MS

Heath P.

Yelp
PERFECT pulled pork! Extremely nice waitstaff. Quick service & delicious food. Highly recommended.

Beverly W.

Yelp
Ubons was a very unique experience from the friendly service to all the writings on the walls and ceilings! Great southern fried chicken with all the fixings. They have a wonderful blackberry cobbler. The owners take all their employees on a week full paid vacation every year. Super!

D M.

Yelp
Pretty darn good bbq for MS. Love their sauce! The brisket (my favorite cut of Q) can be overdone at times, but more often than not it's tasty.

Laurie N.

Yelp
I love their pulled pork barbecue.. We buy it by the pounds & the barbecue sauce is divine with chopped ! Mmmm

Yelp
While on a trip through the Delta, I stopped here for a late Lunch while staying up the street for the night. Upon walking in, I was surprised to see all of the trophies won at BBQ contests, especially the big awards from Memphis in May. Those trophies are serious prizes! I ordered the Combination plate with Potato Salad and Beans. They were out of Sausage, so they substituted 4 ribs for it, to go with Pork Shoulder, Sliced Brisket, a Chicken Quarter, and the sides. The best thing in my takeout box was the beans. Very good flavor and seasonings. The potato salad was ok, but seemed like it had too much liquid in the dressing. The Chicken Quarter was the best of my Barbecue meats, and it was very good. The other meats all had a similar flaw---- too smoky, and not quite tender enough. A lot of people think smoke is a good thing coming out of a barbecue pit. Too much smoke can make meat bitter. That is what happened to my dinner. All of the meat was OK, but not up to the quality of the awards in the dining room. The Ribs were a little tough, and the meat didn't pull away from the bones cleanly. The Spareribs did have a lot of meat on them, but they needed more time in the cooker. The pulled pork and sliced brisket were fair, but I expected more from a Memphis in May winner. Next time I'm down in the Delta I may go back on a Friday. I went on a late Saturday afternoon. I suspect my food had been cooked the day before, and wasn't quite right. I think they deserve another chance, though.

Yelp
Beef dry and hard, chicken ok, sausage salty, beans good, slaw ok. None of it is great

Wayne B.

Yelp
I'll preface this review by stating that I do know the owners of Ubon's, and they are by far some of the nicest people I have ever met. Regardless, I will be as objective as possible throughout this review. Ubon's is located right off of Highway 49 (Jerry Clower Blvd) in Yazoo City, MS. The building is an unassuming sort of place, but walking in to the restaurant gives you a sense of coming home (aside from all of the trophies everywhere from various BBQ contests). As usual, I can never make up my mind as to what to order at a BBQ restaurant, so I go with a combination platter and got sweet potato fries and BBQ beans as my sides. What I didn't realize is that someone inconspicuously added some ribs to my plate for me to try. All of the BBQ meats were excellent. If I had to pick one that was my least favorite, I would probably pick the sausage. It was definitely not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, though. It was a simple presentation (split and then grilled). The brisket was very tasty (not a Texas style brisket though), as was the chicken (a leg quarter that was simply seasoned and smoked). The ribs possessed good texture and taste and left a clean bite mark when I took a bite. (PRO TIP: if your ribs are falling off the bone, they're overcooked) But the real star of the BBQ meats was the pork. It was moist, flavorful, and outright tasty! No sauce needed (though they do have a unique and tasty sauce). My favorite of the two sides was the sweet potato fries. They have a unique breading on the fries that gives them an extra special crunch. The beans were good -- nothing out of the ordinary. I do prefer more of a bold BBQ bean though. Well worth the visit during the week for lunch or in the evenings on weekends!

Yelp
Amazing BBQ!! We ordered the Belt Buster and shared it between two people. Brisket, smoked chicken, link sausage and two sides- we got fried turnips and collard greens. The home sauce is amazing- it hits you with sweetness, then tangy, then sweet again. It's chunky, and authentic. The service was good. The environment was what you would expect with a true down home BBQ joint. They may run out of some things on busy days, so get there early!

Wayne L.

Yelp
We had seen this place on the Food Network and wanted to try it. My family was disappointed and had we not been working all day probably would have gone somewhere else. We went on a Saturday night. Staff was extremely friendly. A teenager came over and took our order. She seemed to have difficulty understanding our order. I ordered the combo plate with sausage, chicken, pork and brisket. My brother ordered half a slab of ribs. A few minutes after ordering, the girl came back and told me they were out of chicken and I could have another meat. Told her I wanted ribs and realized I would only get 1-2 and that was fine. She left and a minute later an older woman came out and informed me they don't substitute ribs. (So much for I could have anything else) she recommended more brisket so I agreed. Took a long time to get dinner. My best guess was 30 minutes. When it did arrive older woman informed us there were no rolls and we could have buns instead. Bigger problem was the food was cold. The only reason we stayed, and only reason I'm giving two stars vice one is the flavor of most items even cold was great. Pork, sausage and my brother's ribs were all great. Brisket was dry and not great. Again, people were friendly and flavor was good. But my overall recommendation would be unless you see Ubons at a BBQ competition and can get it hot off smoker, I would skip it.

Robert B.

Yelp
We stopped 12/6/14 and had a pulled pork and slaw sandwich that was very good Asked for ribs but they were out at 1;30 pm?? Food was good but decor was faded :-( All said I'll try the ribs before giving final judgement Overall three stars on the p p sandwich

Dedra C.

Yelp
Reasonable price, great taste, and very friendly service. Not very kid friendly though. (No child's menu) Otherwise great!

Anne M.

Yelp
Why aren't the hours of operation listed on the web page or on YELP !!! Drove 45 miles 1 way to eat only to find them closed !!! Doesn't help to have hours posted on the door !! Maybe should have called 1st but if they are as good as they claim, they should be open after 2:00 p.m. !! Won't return !

C W.

Yelp
This was a great place to stop on the way to the beach. It had very nice lunch specials the whole family enjoyed!

Larry F.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Some of the best I have had, anywhere. Friendly, competent staff. HOWEVER, I would have given this place a 5, EXCEPT for the tamales. I was expecting some good ole fashioned Mississippi Delta beef tamales but instead I ended up with Tony's prepackaged, frozenTURKEY tamales. Big letdown .

William L.

Yelp
Good barbecue, good service. Enjoyed the hot wings appetizer. Had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. Interesting sauce. Unique battered sweet potato fries. Recommend trying this local place.

Claire C.

Yelp
Every day here has a different special for the meat and sides plate at lunch. Fried Chicken day is my favorite and the sweet tea is perfectly sweetened and not syrupy. It's a place the locals go to and in a city where there aren't that many places that aren't fast food, you should definitely try Ubons out.

Walter T.

Yelp
Great BBQ Friendly atmosphere fun surroundings who could ask for more. Highly recommended.

John F.

Yelp
Best pulled pork south of the Mason Dixon line. Seriously good. One of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot of 'em. The sauce is superb; they have the sweet/sour thing down to perfection. Lots of varied sides, all excellent. Yazoo City is not on the way to anything I go to (I live in Louisiana), but I will drive an hour or two out of my way whenever I can at all justify it just to eat their 'cue. ABsolutely love it.
