Ubuntu Café is one of my go-to brunch spots.
The open-air layout is perfect for patio dining, whether you're under the cover or out in the sun. Also, the water feature in the middle adds a nice touch of zen, and the blankets and heaters at each table keep things cozy when it's cold.
Although some areas are tight, especially around the counter area, the service doesn't skip a beat. They keep things flowing.
There's a small counter filled with drinks, pastries, and a few fun retail finds that practically beg you to grab one. The chocolate chip cookie is ridiculous.
I'd say the real standout here is the pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread). Fresh out of the oven, crispy shell, gooey center...absolute fire.
A top seller, Thick Cut "Millionaire's" Bacon, smoky, sweet, and sticky with that caramelized edge that's dangerously good. You won't be able to resist this piece of meat.
The Chilaquiles with Short Rib add-on is one of my favorites, and those Sticky Ribs hit that sweet and savory mix just right. I love the Pork Belly Adobo Bowl, but the consistency can be hit or miss. The first time was perfect, but on later visits, it's either lacked flavor or the pork belly came out dry. If I had to point out one thing, it would be consistency.
The Chilaquiles with the Portuguese Sausage add-on was really good...had a nice smoky flavor. The Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque Soup...hit full comfort mode. Unfortunately, the Dark Chocolate Pot De Crème was just ok.
French Toast Latte runs the show, my favorite, followed by the Spanish Mocha and Spanish Latte. The Pumpkin Pie Latte missed the mark flavor-wise...was ok.
Come early if you can because it fills up fast, especially on weekends. Even if you're stuck waiting, grab a drink and enjoy the vibe. If you're lucky, they'll bring around a few bites to take the edge off your hunger.
They call it the greatest neighborhood café, and it really fits. It's tucked right in the middle of a quiet residential area, with a lake and park around the corner, blending chill vibes, solid food, and good coffee that just works every time.
