Yelp
So good that I forgot to take any photos. Whoops! We went to Ultra on my last morning in Asheville. Since it was Memorial Day (and a Monday), we wanted to find someplace that would be open on a holiday and maybe off the tourists' radar. I found Ultra with Yelp's help and was so happy I did.
This cool Coffeebar is in the hip, River Arts District near the greenway and a ton of galleries, shops, etc. Area is very walkable but parking can be tricky - they have a small lot but mostly it's on street. We found parking and got into the sizable line that was moving fairly fast. We grabbed a menu and also perused the pastry counter. They have a nice selection of bakery items including vegan options for muffins, power balls, and even an oatmeal pie.
They serve breakfast and lunch all day. It was about 10 am when we arrived and I needed carbs to sustain my drive home. I went with the Viva la Vegan bagel sandwich with a large diced chai (they have almond and oat milk for an uncharge) and my friend had the Vegan Rad bagel sandwich and an iced coffee. I also ordered a peanut butter power ball for the road after a small child and her father standing behind me in line gave it rave reviews (which were spot on). The pb power ball was large and phenomenal!
My sandwich was a toasted everything bagel with grilled tofu egg, vegan cream cheese, and tempeh bacon. My friend's was also an everything bagel with tempeh bacon, vegan cream cheese, arugula, cucumber, and balsamic. We both liked our choices although I wish I'd had my bagel toasted darker like she did as it was a bit floppy. The meal with tip came to $30 which isn't a cheap breakfast but not bad for Asheville. I love that Ultra has a nosh and drink for everyone. It's a great find to stop in with your friends for brunch, your family anytime, or solo to work or get carry out.
