Um Plateau

A nice-looking place, but completely just for Instagram — one of those spots that look amazing on social media, but in reality, not so much. I even ordered a dish that was listed on their Instagram menu, only to find out they didn’t have it in person. The staff was extremely slow, seemed lost, and the food had no flavor at all. I ordered a tagliata, and the waiter didn’t even ask how I wanted it cooked; if I hadn’t mentioned it myself, it wouldn’t have been done properly. The salmon was completely overcooked, dry and tasteless. The manager seemed totally out of it: rude and disrespectful, both to us and to the staff. The female managers, on the other hand, were very kind and attentive, the only positive part of the experience.

The restaurant „Um Plateau“ is nicely located between The Gronn and the old town in Luxembourg city. The food and the drinks were good. Not excellent but you are not doing anything wrong here. Only 4 out of 5 because there are better price/value restaurants in Luxembourg. The menu is changing and has some good suggestions depending on the season. Nevertheless Um Plateau is a good choice. Make sure to reserve online. The restaurant accept card payments, inlcuding american express.

We were a group of 6 friends with a table booking for 8:30pm. They asked us to wait at the bar for 1h before sitting us down. This is the first time I had a booking at a restaurant, and had to wait this long without any explanation or apology. The food was very good to be fair, and nice atmosphere!

Um plateau is one of our go to restaurants when in Luxembourg. The restaurant has an amazing kitchen where everyone can find something they’ll like and be amazed. For a wine lover, the wine list is also a treat with a wide variety of wines from Bourgogne, france to barolo, Italy but also offering many local or more exotic options. The only lesser point making the difference between a 4 or 5 stars is that the restaurant seems to start suffering from its own success, having been seated on the high tables next to the bar which seems to be also used as a waiting area and hence we were quickly surrounded (would even say swamped) by people being put there until their table freed up. Hence, a recommendation for the restaurant would be to either exclusively use that area for this purpose or as a guest to specifically request a non high table to avoid this.

After planning for a long time to visit this place, we finally made it for lunch on my birthday! I found the lunch menu great and decided to go with it! It was really delicious, though I regret picking the fried prawn, soup would have been a better choice! The ambience of the place is really cozy wit great interiors! Service was great and super friendly! Thank for the sweet surprise at the end ☺️

Went to Um Plateau for my friend's birthday while visiting Luxembourg. Couldn't get enough of the Korean chicken fillets. And the snickers ice cream bar was simply delightful!! Amazing selction of wines too.

The loneliest salmon and salad I have ever seen in probably all my life for a price of EUR 28! We had dinner at 9:30pm on a saturday night and there was no longer meat still available to order. Then this lonely salmon was served ….All in all, nice atmosphere, good location but really high price for average food. Not recommended.

Not only is the food delicious, but the service, the atmosphere, and the consistently high quality make Um Plateau my favorite restaurant in the city. Let’s be honest: it might not be the absolute best food you’ll ever have in Luxembourg. But it’s the one place you can go, any time, without hesitation, and be sure you’ll have a great experience. That’s why Um Plateau is my number one.
